Very busy. Good menu choice - ice cream is fab 👌 Staff are chatty and welcoming, very local clientele so they know a lot of their patrons. Will be back again.

Was quiet when we first went in. It quickly filled up. Friendly staff, good choice on the menu. I had the bacon and cheese burger which was lovely. Friendly atmosphere. If you like sweets and ice cream there is a good choice.

My dad, a Dalkeith man, who moved to Broxburn used to bring me to Luca's in the 70's as a special treat - for both of us. I love Italian ice-cream and so I've been returning ever since. My latest visit didn't disappoint.

My favorite part of our holiday to Scotland! I was born and raised in Ohio and I LOVE hot fudge sundaes. Lucas is the only place in the UK that has proper 'Merica style hot fudge. Fantastic!

The ice cream is amazing, so nice to eat at a traditional ice cream shop. There are a range of other treats too, including chocolates, fudge, coconut ice, etc.

Popped in for an ice cream Luca's has always been highly rated, but the staff were rude it was 8 pm, and they seemed as though they had had enough, and I was an inconvenience. With many other dessert places opening, i think staffs attitudes should become a priority.

Great ice cream, prices as expected so not cheap but it is good quality and great range of flavours

Place was busy. Waited 20 mins for a table without a member of staff even speaking to us. We left after the 20 minute wait without a table. I have eaten here before and the food has always been good and service normally very good.

Went to lucas today for lunch had to wait on a table which was fine eventually got 1 sat for ages to be served a waitress said ill be there in a second but never came we then had to ask someone else to be served took the order but food never appeared all the people after us had been served and some had even finished I find this absolutely appalling that we were treated like this for no reason if you have camera's in the restaurant you can check my complaint

- Positive points- Gorgeous ice cream, came on the bus from Dalkeith. Worth the 40 minute journey. I see a lot of people feel the same, as there was a queue and people being dropped off by taxi’s for it. The queue went quickly and there was flavours aplenty, including a very interesting black ice cream (unfortunately I couldn’t try it as it may have had activated charcoal which I can’t have with my medication.) It’s £5 for 3 large scoops, which sounds expensive at first but works out cheaper than other places I’ve been to (Equis and icandy Livingston) as the portions are bigger. Not sure if they do soft serve (mr whippy) but they have a chocolate counter. They also have a cafe but I never saw it so I assume it either has a different entrance or you have to scoot round the counter. There is also a counter selling luxury chocolates. The staff are patient and happy to confirm on the phone when they are open. Luca’s is also dog friendly. We didn’t take our dog in purely as it was busy at the takeaway area and our dog is notoriously greedy! -Negative points- - not much room for queuing, if you were disabled and in a wheelchair you would really struggle and likely have to send someone in for you. No ramp either. - limited menu during winter/cooler weather. We went in march and there wasn’t many flavours on offer. Also, in regards to flavours, some of the ones we saw in march weren’t available yesterday (July) so bear this in mind if you’re looking forward to a particular kind. If you ring up though I’m sure they will be happy to let you know if they have what you’re looking for. - The different flavours and allergens are not displayed clearly enough. I fancied the black ice cream and it was my partner who told me it would likely contain activated charcoal. Some of the flavours have ingredients listed online, but there is a limited amount that do and lots of today’s flavours were not on the website, along with a couple that were displayed online but they didn’t have in store. - This shop is a bit of a trek from the beach, and while they have a small seating area, it’s beside the main road. It’s also right where the queues are. However there are plenty of benches around the grassy patch in front and we usually eat here and then walk to the beach. Overall 4 stars from me (In my photos, I got the rhubarb and custard (orange), strawberry (pink) and blueberry yoghurt (white with purple fruit)

Our golfing group have started using Luca's recently and they have the best scones and filled rolls in the area.

Popped in for a couple of ice creams and was I surprised it was the best ice cream I have had in years and the young lady that served us was so nice and helpful, the ice cream is made in the factory next door, if you are in the area and like ice cream you must pop in and try some, I highly recommend.

It took 45 mins just to pay so I missed the shops now i have no milk

I came in yesterday and bought 7 ice creams tubs to takeaway for care home resident's that where waiting on our mini bus across the road. The lovely assistant helped me carry them to our bus. Her help was greatly appreciated. Such friendly helpful service.

We traveled to Musselburgh just to eat this old fashioned style ice cream parlour. The ice cream was so delicious, tasty and most of all could fulfill your sweet tooth. I chose the Nutty Flavor and it was so yummy.

Foods good, ice cream is brilliant. Don't get caught out right hand side qué is to buy ice cream and then leave, left hand side qué or you can just walk in to the board to wait to be seated inside. Kids menu and adults menu available. Massive tubs of ice cream are available to buy and take home so you can enjoy Lucas ice cream at home.

Popped in to pick up some of the lady's favourite chocolate coated ginger sweets. These are fabulous! Thick dark chocolate, chunky ginger - with a bite. What's not to like? As always, served with a chat and a smile. They're a must when in Musselburgh.

Lovely restaurant, pleasant atmosphere and staff

Popped in for ice cream on the first gloriously hot day of the year. There was a queue but the staff kept things moving. The ice creams I had were glorious and my husband much enjoyed his sorbets. 2 scoop waffle cone and 2 scoop tub came in at under £8. Edit: previously put in as 3 star review- should have been 5. 🙄

Lovely latte / tea and the scones were delicious! Service was great and very fast. During our visit, it was very busy and did feel a little cramped!

A regular here and it was as great as always! Decided to try the warm chocolate muffin this time and it was so amazingly good. Staff were friendly as always. Who doesn't love Luca's??? 💜

Was in last night with my girlfriend and son,we ordered 3 pepperoni pizza one word to describe them MAGNIFICENT,then chocolate brownie ice cream,ice cream is in a class of its own,best I’ve ever tasted, the staff are super friendly big 5***** from,be back in a couple of weeks 😁

We took American friends for lunch. Fantastic food and very friendly service. We went back in the evening. They said it was the best pizza they hsd had. Bought some chocolates...wow...great place

It was noisy and the toilet floor was very wet.the fillings for the baked potatoes were rather small and not very hot,all In all very disappointing, this place used to be so much nicer ,such a pity .

Visited multiple times and never been disappointed! Food was hot and fresh, even though it took a little longer to arrive. First time I have been in since it has been decorated and it looks very nice inside.

Musselburgh boasts a cherished institution, and for good reason. A lovely little ice cream parlour that my daughter adores. Beautifully decorated throughout and the staff are absolutely delightful and friendly. An excellent range of desserts. Very highly recommended.

Asked for an espresso and lemon sorbet, got lemon curd ice-cream and worst espresso at the same time 😏😱, worst experience, wanted to impress my mother for their good ice-cream reputation, ver very disappointed ☹️

Always tasty. Service today was brilliant, my little girl didn't know what flavour she wanted and the assistant gave her a little taste to see if she liked the flavour - especially as she has to have dairy free. Really appreciate that little bit of extra care.

Stopped here for a mid-walk coffee and a cold dessert. I was not disappointed. Stracciatella and peanut butter flavoured desserts and a latte, hit the spot nicely. Service was more than excellent. Can strongly recommend a visit.

Every two weeks after my physio, I pop in for a wee bite to eat and an ice cream. When Karen? the mature lady with the lovely face and a wee grey/white ponytail is working, everything runs like clockwork. She is the glue that stops the café descending into chaos. I have witnessed chaos when too many young ones are working without a guiding hand. Other mature supervisors are good organisers however, Karen goes above and beyond to make customers feel welcome and valued. I usually have a small soup and half sandwich followed by an ice cream which is truly delicious. Prams, wheelchairs and zimmer frames are all catered for, and even screaming children. Well worth a visit!

The food is great, the desserts are amazing and the staff are fantastic, couldn't praise them enough. There is very limited disabled parking, and there are always queues, but that just demonstrates how good the place is!

1st visit, we had to wait for a table around which we could sit 6, but we were treated with respect, and once seated service remained at a high standard. Prices quite high.

Best ice cream, lovely food and great service

Often visit this place with the kids. Great choice of ice-cream flavours. Tub or cone. We often sit outside at the table/chairs - few provided. Staff very friendly. Is also a cafe not just ice-cream but the kids don't often let us get that far! Great place to visit.

When the weather is good, be prepared for a bit of a queue/wait. Ice cream is lovely and not too pricey with quite a good selection.

Strawberry ice cream was not that strawberry tasting. Service was ok but not enough time to try to choose from range of ice cream flavours. We never ate in so can't comment on that service.

I normally would recommend S Luca's however it pains me to say that after tonight i will not be going back. Decided to have a treat and dine in the cafe for a change as its been a long time, now 5 stars go to how clean and well decorated the place is but sadly its all down hill from that point. Was seated at a table by the glass window (normally not an issue) however the glare made it impossible to look at the menu or even have eye contact when talking to my family member across from me.....wanted to move to a slightly darker area and was very abruptly told no!! Grant you 2 people at a larger table seems unfair so i could see the point but it was the attitude that came with it i had an issue with....anyway eventually we did manage to get a new table and we were happy. When it came to ordering food and drinks twice i had to go over the order specifically stating for my club i did not want bacon or lettuce as i cant digest it properly and have an issue with choking. Sadly that was not considered and when my order came i had to pick through it all meaning half my plate was full of wasted food, the sweet potato fries were cold making it inedible, the coke float was tasteless and very gassy....my uncles baked potato was also tasteless and in parts under cooked. For the money i spent even after complaining about this i feel ripped off, the staff sadly either dont care or they are not trained well as i observed several people and families complaining ( one being a group of mums where one childs dinner did not arrive despite ordering with everyone else ) another who had food that was not correct or hot....I dont know if its under new management, if there are new cooks in the kitchen or if its something else but at a time where people are finding the cost of things a struggle but still choose to support this local business its disgraceful to treat customers like this. Poor quality food thats also expensive, shoddy staff ( all bar a few lovely young ladies ) will not be back sadly

Staff were great, providing little spoons of joy to taste flavour before buying! I got one scoop that was black (coconut & dark choc) with another shop of strawberry deliciousness. Definitely a must visit ❤️
