Ryde Thai in Isle of Wight

Love this restaurant. Starters and mains very generous but also very tasty. The service was perfectly timed by a lovely, friendly guy.(sorry, didn't get his name) Restaurant itself is very basic but don't let this put you off, the food is amazing, lucky to have this in ryde,we will be regulars.

We like this place! Moved down from London a couple months ago and so far this is our favourite takeout. The people that work there are friendly locals and though it doesn't have incredible ambience for eat-in, the food is good, and the service is great. I can recommend the wonton starter, and red and green thai curry. There are also plenty of milder stir fries for those who don't like too much spice. we have both dined in and picked up food for takeaway and both were good experiences. I'd recommend ordering a starter and a main as the portions are not huge (but very fair).

Don’t eat out that often so this was very disappointing as we fancied Thai food for a change which we love. Restaurant was cold, no atmosphere. Very busy tho but with laminated menus and lacking that Thai ambiance we could have been in any cafe in Ryde. Food was disappointing m. The chicken satay starter, a Thai classic was so bland with no peanutty taste at all and the chicken was pre formed texture. Other meals were not worth mentioning either. Watery and quite tasty but would not go again.

Stunning anniversary meal at Pinto Thai. The food was incredible and that’s coming from my husband who is a chef so rarely gives 10/10. Flavours were full of surprise and delight & the service was excellent too. I would hugely recommend this place.

My friend and I reach here really hungry and the service was amazing and I had one the best thai food. Absolutely in love with this places.

Overall, a great place to experience Thai food in the Isle of Weight. Came with my parents for a dinner, had a to wait a bit for the food, but was absolutely worth it. It was mouth watering and delicious, and the Thai Green Curry (a classic of course) is a must try. Levels of spice are manageable and the staff do their best to manage between serving food to everyone and also constantly accepting calls for delivery! They work really hard and are doing a fantastic job! Will definitely visit again!

The food was excellent (I had the sweet & sour fish and my son had the lazy duck) and the staff were very friendly & helpful. Wish they did some desserts as well. Will definitely return next time we're in Ryde.

Thursday evening, and it was a little empty, but the food was freshly prepared and very tasty. I'm not a chilli fan, so the lazy duck was perfect. Service was prompt and attentive without being OTT.

Got there said it was open it was closed ,we persevered and went the next night only to be let down by the food ,if your going to make thai food make sure the ingredients in there are right . Very sparse menu and no taste it seems they are tightening their belts .

Great authentic Thai and really good value for money. Definitely be back! Penang curry and chilli chicken stir fry are a must.

This meal was a takeaway. It reminded me of the old 1980's Chinese experience. Very sweet, cash and carry sauces, everything deep fried. It was vomit inducing. To their credit, the takeaway was collected and I was refunded in cash. I only took mouthful of each dish..... which by the way came to forty quid for one!!! I haven't seen so much batter since I lived in the north, and I don't mean Chang Mai.... where I also resided for some time. (north Thailand) MSG and cheap sugar are this kitchen's friend. Avoid at all costs. If you fancy a rubbish oriental meal, there are a great few in Ryde for a fraction of the price. This food bears no resemblance whatsoever to the beautiful Thai cuisine that I have come to know and love. I can only describe it as abysmal, try it at your peril. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Excellent food, we had a mixed starter, two different types of soups, Red Thai Beef curry, Chicken with Vegetables and Garlic, King Prawns & Mushrooms with Oyster Sauce, Jasmin Rice & Egg fied Rice. The spicing is subtle and doesn't over power the main ingredients. For drinks we had Singha Beer which went really well with the food. One thing I would say is you know the food is excellent when members of the Thai community come in for dinner!

I had the Drunken Duck and found it very tasty. We ordered over the phone and collected 15 to 20 mins later. No hassle, just what you would expect from a takeaway.

The food was lovely. Now called Pinto Thai with some new decorations we visited Pinto Thai for a takeaway whilst on holiday nearby. We ordered and were told by the very friendly and helpful staff that it would be about half an hour so went for walk. When we returned it was all ready and very prompt. I had Drunken Duck and my partner had Massaman curry. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and I've got to say that the plain noodles were the best I have ever eaten. We would recommend this restaurant highly and would definitely go back if we were on the island again.

Went without booking (rookie error) they fitted us in though! My last Thai meal was awful in a different part of the uk so a bit hesitant. The food was amazing! $ different starters, 4 different Mains, all arrived at the same time all hot! Tasted great! The staff were lovely as well. Best meal ever !!...superb food, great service, fast, accommodating & tasty

Two excellent visits in late July - everything was as delendable as ever. Confident and friendly service, and all food cooked to perfection. Oddly there was more of a wait on the evening the restaurant was less busy, but this was not a major issue. A pity some diners felt the need to scrape their chairs noisily on the floor whenever they moved - others were able to manage without doing this!

Restaurant is very cold if you go in winter don't. They try to put the heating on. That don't work, you still there with with coats on, food is standard look warm set it back and complained, chef was more interested in takeaways then a sit in customer. Avoid I would unless you want to freeze. The waiter we are saving by not putting the heating on. I know we are all in hard times. But customer service is key. Please avoid if you want the big chill.

Probably the worst Thai food I had in my life. We ordered chilly king prawn, it’s tasteless like boiled prawns in funny tasty watery broth. Avoid order that. We also ordered green curry, which suppose to be the signature dish, but unfortunately, just taste like boiled chick breast with bit hint of green curry! Unbelievable, green curry in Thai restaurant taste like chicken cooked in light coconut milk!!! I was joking with my friend, i said, if you bought a green curry paste then cook yourself, even taste better than their! Fish: sweet sour fish! Basically, deeply fry cod fish then stir fry with tomato source and sweet chilli source, if you want that fish, go to fish and chips shop buy some fish, then make some tomato source and stir it!!! Is the chef there literally just walked in from the street, does the chef know how to cook the Thai food?

This place is actually called Pinto Thai now rather than Ryde Thai. Food was freshly cooked and tasted great. We recommend the green curry and the basil stir fry. Service was good and staff polite. Why 4 stars and not 5? We thought the portion sizes were a bit small for the price.

The food was beautifully presented, piping hot and delicious. We had the set meal A for two and it was really plentiful. The service was excellent we were served our staters after about 10-15 minutes.

Over-cooked, bland, watery takeaway with tomato in the sweet and sour. No prawn flavour to the prawn crisps. The plain noodles were full of various unidentifiable ingredients. Egg fried rice close to mushy. There was only one family finishing their meal in the restaurant while we got our takeaway, so ours was the only meal to cook . Portion sizes good and friendly service. Perhaps the usual chef was away in Sunday evening?

We decided to give this one more try. It was very disappointing, the food was poor, worse than the last time we came, and, despite the restaurant being practically empty it took a long time to take orders and bring drinks. Both of us were very disappointed with the food and the general experience. It has deteriorated over the years and now has reached a point where we will not go again.

Always a table available, food comes out piping hot, some of the best flavors iv had, well recommended

Excellent food, especially the Thai curries. Starters OK but all deep fried. Very good Thai soups. No choice of wine except by colour but actually the white was a decent Pinot Grigio and the rose was very nice. Prices are very reasonable. Service OK, owner brilliant! Will definitely go there again.

Visited Ryde Thai on May 21 with eight friends and we all enjoyed a delicious meal, with freshly cooked ingredients and a nice selection of aperitifs / drinks. I may owe an apology to the team for being a bit impatient (sorry!) as most of us needed to catch the last FastCat back to the mainland and I was getting a little bit stressed! Would like to return in future and would definitely recommend. Thank you to all concerned with our dining experience – the people of the IoW are lucky to have you!

A very enjoyable evening great service and excellent food going again for our anniversary this week

We ordered takeaway - the vegetarian set menu - and it was very bad. We didn't finish it. OK: Veggie spring rolls (were the standard frozen type), Green Veg Curry (was unoffensive, middle of the road). The only reason they are getting 2 stars instead of 1 star is that we ate this part of the meal. Terrible: Vegetable tempura. This was NOT tempura - this was like the local chippy had battered and deep fried a few veg. Very Terrible: Stir fried mix veg, sweet & sour veg - both had exactly the same veg offering but different sauces. Yet both sauces were very watery so it was basically 2 boxes of soggy veg. Avoid takeaway at all costs

First time we had tried Ryde Thai and I wish we had done it sooner! Access into the restaurant is all on the flat and there would be room to maneuver a wheelchair inside, although I would let them know when booking a table if you are taking a wheelchair as some tables would be more accessible than others. It is not very big inside, so booking a table is recommended. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The menu is clear, well written and reasonablypriced. It also says on it that Gluten free can be catered for. The food was absolutely delicious, everything we had was fresh and hot and I can't recommend it enough. We will definitely be going back as I'm already craving another Massaman curry.

Been in this Restaurant last night I was shocked when I paid double for the set menu for 2 normally when set for 2 you only pay 1 that's normally an offer of any restaurant and they said is per person so what is set for 2 for them then they should put that in their menu per person not set menu for 2 is actually misleading disappointed 😠

This restaurant / takeaway was well rated on trip advisor so we ordered a takeaway from them. The service was good and the food was made quickly. However, the food was poor - the worst Thai meal I've eaten. The starters were prawn toast and veg spring rolls - they were over cooked but just about OK. The egg fried rice was a horrible, clumpy brown mass, boiled for too long etc. The duck massaman had an odd taste which put me off. The duck had loads of fat clinging to it that could easily have been trimmed off. The veggy massaman was better and the steamed rice was OK. Maybe I was unlucky or had too high expectations but I wouldn't recommend it.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear We left a good rating last time we ate here - so I wanted to treat my brother and his wife to a great meal Well to cut a very long very much shorter the meal was quite good (I'm holding back here) I think twice about waiting in excess of two hours for my evening meal - the waitress was most apologetic but no explanation from the chef was forthcoming not even a complimentary drink to dull the pain ! Top quality food with great flavours. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and the service was a perfect balance between attentive but not making you feel you had to hurry. Nothing to fault and highly recommend.

We didn’t book, but soon after we arrived it got busy. Service was good and we enjoyed a menu for two and a beer each. The green Thai curry was really tasty but it was all good.

I had a wonderful meal here. It was just the perfect blend of spices and flavours all freshly made. The chef came out and let us know it pre ordered or on a quieter day they could do things off menu for children with lower spice tolerances. They have gluten and dairy free options and seem happy to adapt their menu to suit food intolerances.

Delicious dishes. Mostly have as takeaway but eat in even better. Family run so be prepared to wait a little while if busy.
