Rug Bug Bennys in Angus

What a wonderful place to spend Christmas Day for dinner. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect with decorations, music and great service!

Me and my fiancee went there for Xmas dinner and we had the best time ever , food was excellent as was the staff I would definitely visit Benny's again next time I'm in Scotland Thanks guys for a great meal .

4 of us had lunch today and it was delish. The lovely Brandon and holly looked after us well. The footling hotdog is a must!!

I am a coeliac and the food here is delicious haven’t had a bad reaction to Rug Bug Bennies food yet. Kids had a great time. Atmosphere is lovely we loved the decor and will be back!

Staff were friendly. Almost felt sorry for them. They had run out of draft beer. Didn't have Zinfandel rose. Ordered one meal with rice, got chips. Steak supplement missing from meal. Fish and chips, dry fish and tough batter. Asked for vinegar....Didn't have any!! Wasn't asked if we enjoyed meal at end of evening. Sorry can't recommend. May just have been an off evening. Don't think we'll be back.

Travelled from warrington to visit freinds , they brought us here fanfood friendly staff and a reasonable priced menu..next time we in montrose will certainly be eating here again ...great food

Went in today to try out the new 7 pound roast offer. Myself and my partner absolutely loved our meal and cocktails too. When visiting we were served by Fiona who was so lovely and hwkpful. Will most likely be making this a weekly thing!

Food was good and nice cocktails. One star off because the tables do seem quite cramped together in the bar area but all in all it was a nice evening meal

Food good and always something a little different on offer. Cocktails good, a great wee place for a night out.

Good selection of dishes, smaller tapas portions as well as larger meals. Vegetarian and Vegan options clearly marked on the menu. We had a small tapas portion of chicken katsu served with rice, a houllumi burger with fries (vegetarian) and a vegan mushroom stroganoff. Food arrive piping hot and was all delicious.

Beautiful interior setting .. The food was fabulous, and the staff were superb , My friend and i stopped in the past earlier than service, and they let us in early .. the place is just delightful . If you have never been, get yourselves booked in. .. We will be back most definitely.

I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but I hadn't been to this place in over 10 years when it was just another bar but what a treat! It is laid out & themed as an American 1920/30's bar (if prohibition hadn't taken place). There are plenty of tables & booths and although the lighting is subdued it adds atmosphere not trip hazards. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable about the menu and specials. There is a very good choice from the starters to main courses & deserts. All are clearly marked if vegetarian, Gluten-free, etc. Long story shortened - Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Friendly staff and good cocktails.

We went here for a meal and cocktails, absolutely amazing food fab, cocktails amazing and waiter:manager Brandon was fabulous also! Great value for money with an amazing ambiance!

Rug Bug Benny's was a great find. Great food , lovely relaxed atmosphere, and wonderful service. Our server Brandon was very attentive without being pushy. I would highly recommend a visit.

Rug Bug Bennys is my favourite place to go in montrose. I am here regularly, either as a couple, with friends or with the wider family and have never been disappointed. I love the whole vibe & atmosphere, very authentically themed with background music & cocktails to match. Food is always tasty, cocktails are fantastic (and strong, proper cocktails) Always greeted by cheery staff, they are all very friendly and knowledgable, they go out of their way to be helpful. There is always a great range of entertainment, much of it free. Always guaranteed to be well looked after spending an evening here. 5☆ from me

this look like a nice place to eat, its all smoke and mirrors, very poor service, a while to wait on 3 tapa's, very pushy with drinks orders, we had the mojito, was not fresh lime juice, lime cordial used instead, food not hot, poor presentation, over priced just avoid this place.

We was recommended this lil gem of a place by a lady in the local card shop. When we got there the place was fully booked but the lovley Fiona managed to squeeze us in. I originally was going for a different meal choice but when I saw the fajitas being brought out I chose them. My husband had steak. Both meals where very tasty . Zander made sure we always had drinks and was very knowledgable about the rug bug when we was asking about the name. Holly another staff member making sure we was ok. . Hayden and Louie , although we didn’t speak to them we saw them shaking and making the cocktails which was yummy yummy. There was bingo/kareoke which was a freebie game. The host called the numbers and played /sang songs through the bingo game. The 2nd game of bingo my husband won 2 lines and a full house winning £20 £50 vouchers. and 2 cocktails ! Result. It was such a good night with amazing food , drinks and company that we came back today and had the Sunday roast. Again presented lovley and tasted amazing . Dawn Gareth from Doncaster

Fine place for a sharing platter.

Tapas was lovely staff where great and if you like cocktails Luis is your man we had a Vesper which was excellent. We will definitely be back.

DO NOT GO HERE, wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. They do not pay their staff. It’s sad as the establishment it’s self is nice.

Food was lovely and service was great too BUT we waited for over 45 minutes for our food with people coming in after us getting served before us. One couple also left because of delays to their food order. What we ate was lovely but if you're short staffed and food is going to take that long it's maybe worth telling the customer so their expectations are managed and they can decide whether they wish to stay or not.....I would come back though

I am very disappointed. Waited over an hour for my food. Staff very rude and In helpful so have left without eating. I’ve been a few times but will not be back.

Booked at 7pm, shown to a table with a view next to the bins, still waiting for food at 8.20pm. So when the waiter asked if we wanted a 3rd round of drinks I asked when we could expect our food. The waiter snapped we are very busy and several tables in front of us still to be served. We continued to wait but finally gave up after watching the table next to us being served when they had sat down 20 mins after us. Shame, we have been several times since they reopened - we won’t be back.

We had a lovely meal with very friendly staff scott the barman was extremelyhelpful with our drinks and brendon our server was extremely friendly and so very helpful great place to eat and drink .

First time visit tonight with family, great food and atmosphere - lovely setting. Really felt we got value for money and the service was fantastic. Our new favourite place to eat.

Cool and stylish place, food was really good and cocktails were awesome. Very friendly staff, attentive and lots of banter! Portions are quite generous, lots of cocktails were ordered which were amazing so bill was quite high but worth it!

Service was good , food was also good but steaks wernot made as ordered.

Found this by chance en route to picture house and thought hmmm lets have a wee go....and am delighted to say what a 1st class experience....ambience was spot on with fantastic service...fine attention to detail and nothing was a hassle for us (2 adults and a child)....and the food omg😋😋😋 i opted for 3 tapas instead of main as im awfully indecisive and so many things sounded great (i would say eyes too big for belly, but thats a lie 🤥🤣) So combined the bankcok prawns, garlic mushrooms and haggis bon bons and a wee starter plate to dig in.....so so good. Oh and of course a couple of malbecs to wash it all down 🤪 Thank you. I/we will definitely be back ☆☆☆☆

Excellent service and cocktails

Was in playing bingo was a good laugh.

The place is perhaps a bit dark (I prefer natural light), but it has a peculiar and interesting atmosphere. Right side (bar tapas, top to bottom): King Prawn & Chorizo, Aberdeen Angus Meatballs and Creamy Garlic Mushrooms On Toast (amazing tapa). Left side, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread. I will definitely come back for more.

Smashing place. Massive portions of great food, very friendly and helpful service, great atmosphere/music/decor. Rug Bug is a must visit if you’re in Montrose area and want a great meal out. Just be sure you’re very hungry. The portions are huge!

We were in for cocktails and there was a great selection and they were very enjoyable. The menu was exciting and we may return for lunch. They could benefit from being a little warmer The barman was very helpful.

Had our first experience today for a late lunch and it didnt disappoint! We are new to the area and this will be our new favourite place! Great variety of food, big portions and attentive staff. We will be back! X

Nice place, great cocktails, food was decent, but we made the mistake of going for a starter... although 'small' couldn't finish our mains and struggled due to fullness for the rest of the night. Not a bad thing by any means... just a novice mistake by us!

Our family ages from 4years to 80 years were brilliantly entertained by a magician/ventriloquist while enjoying a delicious range of foods served with care. Laughed enough to last me a fortnight. Norman

Went to Benny's to see the magician and children's entertainer. We had a brilliant time, adults as well as kids had a really good laugh. The staff were great, couldn't do enough and the food was very tasty.

Food was ok, this was all you can eat breakfast brunch. Drinks not included for almost £10 per person. Food was mediocre at best bacon very salty. The sausage was almost tasteless. To be be fair i still enjoyed it. Ordered two coffees took thirty minutes to get them. When you have salty need a drink at the table quick. Not really worth the money. Also the the manager was very abruptly almost rude.

Absolutely awesome place. Hospitality and welcome from all team was simply outstanding. Food was amazing and the cocktails were so unique and went down great. I will definitely be going back to Rug Bug Benny's next time I am in Montrise and will definitely be recommending my friends visit there too. Top class experience pkus entertainment too 👏

Quite a large party that they managed to cater for. Place was very busy and the staff did a great job. We all ate and the food was very nice, because it was busy it took a while. Only gripe was that it was quite expensive compared with like places but overall good

Greedy us! Two weekends of Rug Bugs meals delivered. Absolutely fantastic, from easy ordering with personal changes to dishes, to the meals being delivered at a time requested by us. Tasty, fulfilling and fantastic value for money.

Fantastic food. Burgers are phenomenal, portion sizes are excellent. Been trying all local takeaways for a good meal and finally found it. Staff were friendly and helpful. 5 Stars definitely recommend. Will be back again soon.
