Ruby Seven Days in South Ayrshire

Wanted a nice restaurant for a 52nd wedding Anniversary. This restaurant was lovely. We had the chicken Satay and Chicken Curry with Fried rice and Chips. Then dessert as part of two course menu. The curry was lovely, but the star of the show was the Chicken Satay. Given the wonderful service and fantastic food we expected to pay over £100. We were stunned that it only came to £85. Next holiday to Ayr we will definately be back at Ruby's.

Very bad first experience at the restaurant. Waitress not pleasant, service really slow, aromatic duck cold when it arrived. Would not recommend.

Best Chinese food I've had for years. Quality ingredients, friendly staff and well priced. We will be back.

Good quality food. Service was nice. They are the place which you know you can rely on. Nothing toooo fancy but nothing mediocre.

I really hate to leave a negative review for any business or service but on this occasion I have no choice. We normally go to a different Chinese restaurant in ayr that we love and have really enjoyed in the past but we thought we would try somewhere different to see how it was. Myself my wife and 2 kids went to Ruby 7 days on a Friday evening for a family dinner out that we were looking forward to. The atmosphere in the restaurant was flat and very empty. The food arrived quickly but was not nice and some of Most of it was cold. We sent the cold food back only for it to be brought back out a few minutes later after clearly being being put in a microwave. My wife asked for a white wine at £7 per glass and it was served warm. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday evening. All in we didn't enjoy the food or experience. We unfortunately won't be going back .

We went for lunch on Friday & we're lucky to get a table at 12.30. Food was fab & service was good. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Delicious freshly cooked food. Great service. Best restaurant of any kind we have been to for a long time.

Dinner was lovely, but charging £2.50 for a can of coke zero(which was price marked at 75p) was ridiculous

We booked as a large family, and we all really enjoyed the meals. They were great with the kids and have children's menus.

Can't really fault this place. Nice food. Good service. And all round nice place.

Really disappointed. Reading reviews we were swayed away from our regular Chinese but unfortunately wont be back. Asked for no veg in special fried rice but spring onions over the top, now with someone who is autistic it is hard to then convince them to eat it even when picked off. Ordered a chicken curry and rice but was given a chicken fried rice which looked horrible. Ribs were not very appetising either. Called to get correct chicken curry sent out but was advised could be up to 45 minutes when already waited an hour for order to be sent incorrectly. For the price, there is definitely takeaways in the area that provide better food and a cheaper price also.

Fabulous restraunt, great service and lovely tasting food. Would recommend for a dinner or a lunch.

Visited last Sunday for lunch. For starters we ordered spring rolls, prawn toast and chicken and noodle soup. Main courses were Sichuan chicken and hot & spicy mixed meat. All were delicious and good value for money. Service very good even though the restaurant was busy at the time. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Meal ok, only 4 people in when we were there, took a while for food to be served, wouldn't like to see it busy... disappointing 😭 been there before but felt service was more interested in takeaways 😭😭

when I went there , the place was fill with people and my food arrived reasonably fast and it was amazing , definitely recommend anyone trying Chinese cuisine for the first time

Ordered a curry and the rice came almost half an hour after the curry did after the staff being reminded twice,they then said they would reheat the curry which by this point had developed a skin over the top,said no I didn't want it and they didn't even try to amend it in anyway and had the cheek to give me the bill,never be back!

The food is the main attraction here. The decor and cleanliness is poor, the service is diabolical but I was surprised how good the food was.

Nice welcoming dining area, all clean and fresh . I had the 3 course lunch menu option and drinks . Chicken satay to start, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style & fried rice for the main, and pineapple fritters to end . All the food was cooked fresh to order, good sized portions, and it was all very tasty and enjoyable and not at all greasy. Front of house service was very welcoming and the food came at decent intervals, i.e they didn't rush you out of the door even as it filled up over the lunchtime, so you could still chat and enjoy the food. I'll definitely go back .

We visit here when we come to see my in laws they enjoy it. Omg Chicken balls to die for and THE BEST PINEAPPLE FRITTER IVE EATEN. SAME QUALITY TASTE.AND PORTIONS (large) each time we visit. Good prices. 3 courses each and 6 drinks £90. Good value for 4 people . Defo visit again in another.month. hubby looks forward to it. As we don't have a Chinese near us in Co Durham . Female waitress in glasses. Think she may be polish is SO LOVELY. We always leave a large tip. You also get free prawn crackers too.

Excellent meal here been going there for a meal regularly when in Ayr was in on Wednesday night for my wife Wendys 59th birthday meal was pipping hot great service would recommend this restaurant to anyone thanks

Just ordered sweet and sour with chips and alleged barbecue spare ribs. The portions are half the size, and twice the price. It was collected but not very warm. The chips were definitely yesterday's. The spare ribs had sauce- I think- but it was scarce. Reason I'm really doing this- why should Chinese restaurants get away with selling substandard food and no-one ever complains? The local council giveth the licence- reports of substandard food can result in it taketh away. Perhaps this should be remembered. The cost of living is tough- but the size of the chicken balls were minute. There are cut backs and just taking the p. The rice was in a very small container also- much more like a child's portion. Normally a Chinese meal would be too much, this time I struggled to see what I had paid for. I certainly would be recommending to look somewhere else for a Chinese meal if you want your moneys worth- and a delicious dinner. Very disappointed on an otherwise used to be lovely restaurant.

Dont know if they are short staffed but the sevice was really slow took about 2 hours for 2 courses then i tried to pay for 20 mins .the 2 servers were very pleasant but too much work for them

We called in for a takeaway The place is very friendly and our order was taken. It wasn't the quickest takeaway I've ever had but it was well worth the wait. The food is very good and I would recommend

First time visitors this a gem of a place food is to die for. Staff friendly and attentive.

Couldn't comment on the quality of the food as we didn't get that far, waited just over 30 minutes and still no sign of our starters, which was just a soup and ribs. People who arrived after us had already received their mains, was told that they "might" have run out of soup by the staff. They also had the ordasity to charge us full price for the 2 soft drinks we received.

40 minute wait for first course which was only soup…20 minutes after starter main course .. service sooo slow. Beef curry not the best .

As always, food is plentiful and delicious. But service sooooo slow. Wasn't very busy, about half of the tables being used. Many of those finished and left while we were waiting but staff moved at a snail's pace! 15 mins for our 2 drinks to arrive. Think inexperience and lack of training is the cause, as the staff are really nice and friendly. Just desperately slow!

Had a beef n chicken curry beef was disgusting.. chewy and defrosted in microwave i would say just before serving should never have accepted meal..been on pan all day after with stomach cramps and sickness .. WILL NEVER BE BACK.. ABSOLUTE MINGING.. should have up and left without eating or paying

A nice wee Chinese restaurant we stumbled across menu was good and 2 and 3 course meal menu was really good value so worth checking out as food was lovely so were the staff

Found wriggling in my nieces chicken fried rice, I will be notifying environmental health my niece is being violently sick in the toilet going on 25 minutes now for a restaurant with awards for hygiene this is not good, I will never order from this restaurant again, when I phoned them they offered to come pick it up and cook us another meal, seriously as if we will ever trust this restaurant again if I could give zero stars if I would

Meal was well cooked, well presented, and reasonably priced. Decor not to my taste, but certainly functional.

Had chicken satay and asked to modify to peanut sauce was fantastic as was the shredded chilli beef .thank you

Lovely food, freshly made, great service

I had a lovely 2 course meal. Ribs to start (they were a little disappointing, too sweet). Afterwards I enjoyed the chicken and mushroom curry which was delicious. This was all served by the lovely waitress. I will definitely be back, next time I'll try a different starter.

Staff were lively. Had a Beef curry and rice it was delicious as was Hong Kong Chicken, prices reasonable gor a sit in meal. Definitely be back next time I'm Ayr.

Food was great, staff really friendly and make you feel very welcome. Has toilet facilities also, during Covid-19. Tables were cleaned thoroughly after diners left. I would highly recommend it, and I will return again.
