Ruby Murray in Islington

Ordered over £40 of food on 26th March. After waiting for delivery for 2 hours we called the restaurant who said there had been an issue with the driver and it will be with us shortly. We called twice more over the course of the night and were told they still didn't have a driver and were waiting for a courier before finally that they were closing so we wouldn't get our food but the manager would call us. After not hearing anything we emailed again 2 days later for the status of our refund and have had no response. 3 weeks later and every time I call the manager is not there and we have heard nothing from them and the staff can't do anything to help.

Food is great. Delivery time was not that good but I will order again an hour early.

Really poor - arrived cold - received cold chicken and rice dishes. No poppadoms. Bland food for expensive dishes on average £4 more than competitors - not worth it. No apology - no gesture of goodwill after receiving 3 text messages confirming the late delivery. Very poor.

Excellent food! The lamb chops were exceptional!

We ordered a lamb biryani, chicken kharai bowl and Dehli butter chicken with a portion of plain rice. Firstly the order was packed really poorly and some of the contents of the chicken kharai bowl was all spilled out into the bag when it arrived. The delivery driver notified us of this straight away. It would have been better to pack it in a plastic bowl rather than cardboard which was dented. The food is tasty but unfortunately the butter chicken isn't authentic (although I must say that it is the best Indian takeaway version I have tried thus far in east London and it's still tasty without being overly sweet or tasting like a ready made korma sauce which a lot of them are like). We even called the restaurant ahead of the order to make sure the butter chicken was authentic but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations. The last time I tried authentic butter chicken was from a small Pakistani restaurant in north west London a few years ago but I've been able to make it at home a few times but nothing compares to true authenticity made by a chef. Portion sizes are great though. Overall it's still a good Indian takeaway I would order from again.

The order was due between 9pm and 9.30. I phoned at 9.30 to ask where it was. I was told that due to the rain the driver hadn't arrived. He eventually arrived at 10.05pm. Whilst taking the food, I asked if it was hot and was told "I just picked it from the restaurant " I was staying in a hotel and when I took it to my room the naan was stone cold and moist as it had steamed in the foil packaging, the karahi was lukewarm. I couldn't heat either up and couldn't reorder as it was already so late. If the driver was late the the restaurant should have least reheated the food. So disappointed.

The food is of excellent quality, little too much oil, little dry chicken, but only a little. I would absolutely recommend this place. The spicy curries here have flavour, which is the sign of a good cook, they know how to apply flavours. Other Indian restaurants often make the mistake of adding too much spice which overpowers everything. Thank you Ruby!

No popodoms for an order of that value for one and no wipes or napkins come on guys you can do better than that if you do I will order again 🤔🙂

Food delivered on time and enjoyable

This is the last time I will order from here. The food is bland and unappetising. The lamb tikka roll is just pieces of plain boiled overcooked lamb wrapped in a bread with a heavily sweet sauce and the "salad" is a few pieces of tiny chopped cucumber and onion. Horrible. I also ordered a chicken somosa chaat but was given vegetarian with hardly any samosa. Ordered the masala chips which were stale and disgusting. Do yourself and favour and avoid wasting money here.

Freshly made, good quality and delicious! Arrived in time, piping hot. Would definitely recommend and would I order again.

Amazing food as always and I tried the added protein option they give for a couple of pounds and I am happy to say they really gave alot more chicken to my curry which was well received😋

Amritsari paneer makhani was not amritsari at all. Everything has a sweetness to it and is not masala-dar

It was my second time eating from Ruby Murray. This food could bring a grown man to his knees for how delicious it is. The flavour was certainly amplified by the fact I hadn’t eaten for an entire day. Will definitely order again!

Delivery time was set at between 40 minutes and an hour. It actually arrived after 1 hour 20 minutes! The restaurant phoned to say the driver couldn't get a reply and had left the food on the doorstep. They claimed he'd phoned, but he hadn't. Luckily we heard a noise outside and found him on the doorstep, so all was well. Will use this restaurant again as their food is good, but this was frustrating ad it is not the first time the food has been late.

No food delivered. Really annoying and a waste of an evening

The food was delayed and came really cold

Very disappointed. Lamb chops was cooked too long as dry and hard. The mint sauce was too spicy hot and the prawn puree was soggy, like it was not deep fried and came with no lemon whatsoever. The salad? It was a teaspoon size of chopped bits. Overall regrettable.

Food said it was delivered, however, it wasn’t. Tried to call the restaurant numerous times but they did not pick up. Absolutely awful!

Unfortunately my food was late and cold. Its such a shame as the food from here is really tasty. I really want to put more stars but I can't justify them on this occasion

lovely customer service, nice samosas, however very very bland food.

Lamb chop main, vegetable rice and a milkshake. The lam chops were lovely and juicy with a little bit of crispiness which was perfect. The only criticism i can find is that i would of liked a bit more potato in the vegetable rice however that is a minor issue considering that everything else was lovely. Thanks :)

The food was for a better word disgusting no taste of curry at all no spices just a sickly sweet taste not worth paying £16 pounds it was worth far less than it was worth avoid like the plague did not taste anything like an authentic curry at all

Not a genuine indian curry place, dissapointed.. all the curry have and use same grabi base sauce. Butter chicken was more tomato soupy. Bhuna wasnt a bhuna. Biryani was bland, starters soaked in oil. Just wasnt worth it for price. Wont be returning

I ordered the Tikka Masala chicken. The delivery was very late and the food was cold. There was only 6 chicken cubes and the rest was soup like sauce. The curry was extremely sweet, it actually tasted like sugar was added. Extremely expensive for 6 cubes of chicken.

Late delivery, marked as delivered on Just Eat so contacted the restaurant who told me it was just a few minutes way. 30 minutes later still not arrived, phoned again and told just a few more minutes. I raised a concern with them about how cold the food would be having been sent 40 minutes prior, they told me they would replace it if it was. Delivered an hour later than it should have been, very cold and restaurant suddenly no longer answering the phone to resolve the issue. Very disappointing service!

I was lucky I had brought small spoons for my daughters cereal in the hotel room I don't know how they expected me to eat the chicken korma etc with no cutlery as a guest in a hotel room. That wasn't ideal but the meal was very good thanks 😊

I shouldn’t have to wait over an hour for food to be delivered from a local restaurant on a Thursday. Food obviously dumbed down for tourists. I’m from the Midlands and when we ask for Madras we get Madras, not chicken in some tasteless sauce. Bisto has more spice.

The worst curries ever. Ordered korma prawns and chicken tikka masala . But over saturated with coconut, tasted nothing like cashew and tikka respectively . Tikka Marsala is a nation dish how can you get it so wrong?! And the korma was so liquid . Reviews that speak so highly of this restaurant just don’t know what Indian tastes like

First time ordered from here after seeing the reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Everything we had was delicious. We ordered, lamb biriyani, chicken tikka, the mixed grill, garlic naans, chicken tikka masala & garlic and peshwari naans.. everything was 👌👌👌 We will be ordering again.

Best curry house we've tried in this area. The punjabi samosas are banging! Every dish has its own unique flavour. Reminds me of dishoom but half the price.

Changed delivery time 3 times only altered that food was on the way when I called them. Delivery driver admitted he had attended other stops before he attended us. Food was warm not hot by the time it arrived. I declined the food and the restaurant cancelled the order as I sent it back. Person on the phone accused me of not knowing London, not understanding how food works and not knowing how traffic worked. When challenged with the information the delivery driver had given he was more challenging.Given other reviews this is not an isolated incident.

Food was alright, but would have preferred to have more substance to the sauce for the Lamb Madras curry. Everything else was great as to be expected from a curry house service.

The food wasn't that good. The chicken biryani didn't taste that nice. The vegetable source was nice but the garlic chilli lamb tikka wasn't nice either. I will try some more food from this place next time. But I didn't like it.
