Ruby Chinese Take Away in Barrow-in-Furness

Wouldn’t advise getting food before 7 o’clock as it’s last nights left overs, all of it felt like pre heated food. Let me tell you the “beef” felt too chewy n grim, also hair in food (multiple).

Our favourite takeaway love the curry and rice, and the salt and pepper onion rings are to die for! Highly recommend if you’re ever in barrow. My boyfriend loves the foo Yung and the sweet and sour

Visited here at the recommendation of a colleague whilst working in Barrow. I got the Chicken with green pepper in black bean sauce and Salt and Pepper chips. Staff very polite. Food was prepared quickly and was delicious. The portion size was good and there was enough left for the next day. Highly recommended!

We tried this takeaway on boxing Day. First visit but won't be our last. The food was lovely with good portions. Glad we tried this takeaway much better than our usual. Also only one open on boxing Day so well done to them.

No he probado desde aquí durante algunos años, encantado de poder pedir comida para entregar de forma aislada. Tuve que intentarlo un par de veces para comunicarse por teléfono, cotizaron media hora, llegaron en 20 minutos, calientes porciones grandes y muy sabrosas. Sin duda lo volveré a usar. El único inconveniente fue que no hubo pago sin contacto, tuvo que entregar en efectivo al repartidor.

The ordering was easy via Facebook, which was prompt and efficient. The order arrived more or less to time and was still hot despite coming from barrow to Dalton. The young lady who brought it to the door was extremely polite and courteous, a credit to the restaurant. The quality of food was first class. If you need a Chinese takeaway during lockdown or even after I can highly recommend this takeaway. This is probably the best Chinese I have ever had (and yes I’ve had a lot).

Consistently good food at the Ruby, lots to choose from an extensive menu. Friendly staff, quick service, the only downside seems to be 'cash only' when picking up, no card payments.

Ordered a salt and pepper box to be told the wait would be 45-1hr which was fine. 15 minutes later it turned up, was amazed how quick it came till I looked at it and tasted it. Wasn't salt and pepper and the battered of the chicken wings and chicken balls tasted fishy. Asif they have been fried with fish and chips shops used oil. The taste made me physically sick, full box went into the bin. Do not recommend although every other time it has been brilliant this time has out me off for life.

Rang for delivery due to my usual Chinese closed. Ordered mixed meat curry me & my daughter always get & share. It arrived the container 1/2 full.2 pieces of meat. 2 prawns & 2 mushrooms with onions. I rang up to be asked to send a pic thro their fb page. Then recieved a call saying the portion was correct. Then when I mentioned it was Cold she disagreed that it shouldn't of been. Just cos I'm not happy with the portion size doesnt mean I'm making up the cold bit just to add to complaint. Has a business owners wife we would go that extra mile to rectify the situation but no nothing & before you reply to that saying I put the phone down on you yes I did cos of your denial but you do have my number & address ???? Do you not.... I advise you order from the 2 local Chinese take aways I posted on your fb page & take a serious look at their portions. DISGUSTING

Always order from here and never disappointed. Always plenty in the meals and always hot. Delivery is a few quid and arrives roughly when they say. Best salt and pepper chips in the area

Have had takeaways from several outlets in BarrowinFurness. Ruby is our all-time favourite.Always hot, fresh, and lovely flavours. Never been disappointed. Would recommend to all. Very good value.

We have tried various take away meals from Ruby's but have never had a decent one yet (approx 4 times in the last year) so won't be getting another one they have had enough chances!! Food is gloopy and the beef is chewy all the spicy dishes taste the same, chips are greasy/full of oil and rice is just yuck I can't understand why anyone would rate a meal from here they must be very easily pleased.

We've used the Ruby before to get a delivered take out. The egg foo yung and noodles are always tasty. Thai green curry is usually good. However, we decided to pick up our take out this night and we're deeply disappointed. Firstly, the waiting area was freezing cold. The windows were open to air the place and it was Baltic! Secondly, due to the adverse working conditions, the cooking staff were all wearing long sleeve jumpers and coats!! No hair nets or aprons were worn either! We had ordered differently from usual: sweet n sour chicken balls, sweet chilli Thai prawns and Kung po chicken. We had two sets of noodles and an egg fried rice to go with the dishes and complimentary prawn crackers. All the dishes were very sweet... very sticky and sickly. Indeed we were all very thirsty during the night and the next day. The chicken inside the 'balls' of very thick batter was small in comparison to the dough. If you're going to use this takeaway, I do suggest you try some other meal rather than the sugar based dishes. On a good note, they do offer you the chance to have dry crispy noodles or noodles with bean sprouts. The latter is delicious. Personally I don't think we'll use The Ruby again until someone does a more positive review here on Trip Advisor.

As always freshly cooked take away, delivered on time. Recommend the salt and pepper crispy beef.Staff are also willing to help and if you wish to change any ingredients they will.

Always use the Ruby during my visits to Barrow, the most recent occasion being on Saturday night, after the Hal Cruttenden gig at the Forum. Extensive menu, good food, always well prepared, tremendous value. A vital part of any visit to Barrow!

One of the best Chinese takeaways in barrow, come here often. Love the food, and willing to change ingredients if you don't like a certain vegetable etc. Very good food.
