Amazing place to stay!!! Gary and the people there are very nice and helpful. Everything is clean and nice in the room. Nice nature views, very relaxing, the food path surrounding is so beautiful! If lucky you could see some rabbits running in the field.

I rented a room on a short term basis here before lockdown, great facilities and I felt my things were safe inside the room and enclosure. Poor interiors, lifted the mattress and it's heavily stained, you can tell carpets aren't cleaned professionally on a regular basis, no back up keys or fobs onsite. I'm someone who can go through phases of forgetting things like keys and unluckily I had to ask several times to be let in to my room, instead of having back ups onsite, not offsite as that makes no sense, I had to try to get hold of the at the time landlord involved which was fine the first few times however the last time, I was treated, spoken to, shouted at like a child, as if I was doing it on purpose. I didn't have a choice at the time I was starting a new job, wanted to get out of my parents house and getting my independence back but no one expects to be treated that way. Luckily as things settled down with me it didn't happen again however I would have to say it was a horrible experience and nobody should be treated like that for something that is human error with more people than just myself, there should be back ups onsite without having to trouble anyone, not being able to afford it is not an excuse there is more than one way someone can ensure access to rooms regardless of any other factors.

The accommodation at the Royal Oak is fantastic... secure gated parking area, clean and air conditioned rooms with spotless bathroom, fridge/freezer, microwave and kettle. Everything I needed to survive lockdown! I booked for a month and stayed for three so that probably says it all : ) There is also a small post office and a lovely cafe with patio plus countryside walks on the doorstep

Went in for drinks and the staff behind the counter were so nice and helpful! Since it’s getting hot I wanted a cold mocha, but they did not sell it there however the staff said that she will give it a go and it was wonderful!!! Highly recommended for people viewing however the only downside was that the upstairs was not available for seating which was such a bummer! But all in all, it’s a solid 5/5!

I was utterly unimpressed so I emailed the head office. I also rang and left a voicemail as well as a follow up email. A month later still no reply, hence why I am posting. The food was not available as seen in other pictures on this site and the website. The waiter was unable to tell the difference between the different curry dishes we ordered! We were told that the batter was off and so 'fish and chips' was not available. As batter is really easy to make this suggests that the food is reheated rather than cooked at the pub. If I am wrong the chain has had time to inform me. We were offered chicken strips but were served a child's meal of nuggets.

The Pheasant, Not So Pleasant - Just been to The Pheasant in Bedford and honestly, I’m disappointed. I ordered a pint of Estrella and it was, without a doubt, the worst one I’ve ever had. Completely flat — no life, no fizz, no satisfaction. It tasted like it had been sitting in the lines for days. For a place that seems to pride itself on its pub atmosphere, you’d expect them to serve a proper pint. Won’t be rushing back any time soon, especially not for a drink.
