Royal Charter in Kingston upon Hull, City of

What a difference since last time we visited. So much cleaner and such a warm welcome. It goes to show what can be done when someone actually cares about their pub. We didn't eat so can't comment on that but the dishes we seen looked lovely.

Never planned on coming here but so glad we have. The food is absolutely fabulous. Cooked really well and it was very hot when it was brought to the table. I would recommend the food here all day long. I have just had the mixed grill and my partner has had the festive burger. Nothing was left on our plates. Will definitely come here again.

Popped in for a Sunday lunchtime drink and a meal. Had a mixed grill, and a festive burger as its now November. What a treat, lovely food, hot and filling. Not what I went in for, but turned out to be a great meal. So finished with the sherry trifle cheesecake. I will definitely have this again. It should be a dessert on masterchef. Most enjoyable. Thanks Marstons.

First time having a meal here it was quiet, but the food was well cooked and hot didn’t have to wait long and the service was good will. Go again

Pre booked a table for 8 for a birthday. Arrived at 5.30pm then ordered our food by 6pm. By 7.15 a few tables started to recieve food but sent it back because it was cold. We were told we were next. We waited another half an hour. So by 7.45 our food started to arrive. Most of the food was OK but one of us got the fish and chips and the fish was hard and over cooked. I received a piece of beef that was supposed to be a medium rare steak. It was over cooked and very tough. I sent mine back and waited again until after 8pm. Again sent another piece of steak that was medium this time but still tough as the first. We didn't order any desserts and left feeling very disappointed.

Excellent food and warm friendly staff. Had a Great Wednesday afternoon for the social club with lots of games food and dancing. Great Atmosphere xxx Meeshia x

Great pub bery friendly bar staff

Not been in this pub since I left Wilberforce college in 2002 so thought we would pop in for old times sake and I have to say it was fantastic, friendly staff, food was very good it was a bit quiet but was a great visit.

Great place to pop I and quench that thirst..

The food is disgusting! Worst experience I have had for a meal. I would recommend going to Apollo or Four In Hand, the pints are so expensive too. Would not recommend. Wish I could put no stars.

My boyfriend ans I came to Royal Charter for our Valentines Day dinner. Service was prompt with some of the friendliest staff I have had the pleasure of meeting. The food was wonderful too, with my boyfriend having the mixed grill and myself the steak and ale pie. Thankyou to Eoyal Charter for making my first proper Valentines Day a day to remember.

Ultimate burger . Well the name says everything you need to know . Delicious.wife and daughter had curry and cheeseburgers all top class . Really full but had to try the Banoffee cheesecake . Didn’t disappoint . Would high recommend a visit

Friendly staff Decent food Good portions

The pub had a great atmosphere and looked very nice. Unfortunately, I had limited drink options as John Smith's was unavailable. However, apart from that, I had a relaxed and enjoyable time at the pub, and there was an interesting history of Hull that added to the visit.

Just been to this pub for Tea . I’m an awkward person for eating best of times but I asked for a mixed grill but didn’t have the meat available . Alternatively they did it another way just to please me .They couldn’t have done anymore for me . The Bar staff was excellent and the pub is very cosy 👌👌. Recommend 100%

Had a lovely dinner here, the bar staff was very friendly, there is also a big outdoor space. The food I had was good and came freshly prepared, shout-out to Gill on the bar who was very nice, will definitely be coming again soon

The pub Opened around 1999 the 700th anniversary of Hull receiving it's royal charter from King Edward l, from which it takes its name. On the edge of the Westerngales housing estate this nice two roomed pub offers a good range of pub food. Sadly no real ale on the hand pumps in the bar. The bar has darts and pool, and is also dog friendly in the bar. A nice cosy pub with friendly staff, loads of parking.

Went for a drink after a friends christening. Lovely atmosphere, and child friendly with a play ground in the garden. Lovely place 😁

Took my family in for some lunch. Went to order food at the bar to be told I would have to wait untill a group of 15+ people got their food first.. They hadn't even ordered yet!!! When I asked how long the women said ' as long as it takes'. Not very welcoming and won't be coming in the future. We left and went to the apollo where we was greeted by friendly staff. A far better experience!

Avoid like the plague....poor management. Lazy management

Very tatty, dusty pub, sticky tables, took ages to get served (no fault of the bar staff as she was alone trying to serve two bars) very poor

The staff were so lovely and welcoming and they were really helpful and kind ❤️ It Made our last family day out with my dad that so much more special, we can't thank u guys enough for what u did for us all 😊 It has Wheelchair access, Was great for my kids to, to go some were to play. And the food was amazing.

Super dog friendly pub! We took our cocker spaniel in for a couple of pints as we read on Google maps it was dog friendly and couldn’t of been made more welcome! ☺️🤗 We was brought water and toys for Louie and they also have a selection of dog treats in the bar area! Thank you so much, we will be back.

Had a lovely day today for a family meal. Great atmosphere all round, the food was reasonably priced, very enjoyable and the kids all had fun. Will be returning for sure 👍

It's just one of those places. Don't stand near the jukebox.

Went on Saturday with family and ordered mixed grills and lasagne and the young one had a cheeseburger,everything was cooked as ordered, service from the ladies was spot on will definitely be going back 👌 🙂

This is such a lovely family friendly pub nothing is ever to much trouble for the staff We had a party there as it was a special wedding anniversary 40 years and they made it so lovely for us cannot recommend this pub anuf

Not a bad pub. Great if you have kids as they have an outdoor play area. Not great for sport as they have a few TVs all located in terrible spots in the pub

Ordered tika masala and 8oz gammon.both arrived within approximately 20 minutes.Both very nice and piping hot. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a very good experience.

Just ok, food was average place was very quiet it was a week day lunch though. Had our food not once did anyone come over to do a check back on food. We had finished and our plates were still on the table 40 mins later. When lady came to collect our plates didn't say a word. Customer service is so important these days but unfortunately it didn't exist in the Royal Charter today:(

What a lovely welcoming pub with good food. My husband and I have twice visited The Royal Charter before visiting someone in the home opposite. We travel up from North London and it so nice to feel comfortable when walking into a pub where you are not a local and even remembered from the last visit. Thank you So much

We visited as a table of 16 with only a couple of hours warning and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be returning.

Quite a cosy, friendly pub. I felt quite comfortable even though I was a stranger. I was in the bar so can't comment on the food quality but I had a lovely pint of Mansfield smooth. Certainly not a pub to avoid

When it rained water started pouring through the roof!! But the drinks are cheap.

Opposite work so it was easy to access. Enjoyed my visit, I got a chicken and bacon sub and a coke. Great food which was reasonably priced at about 7 quid. Would recommend.

Have been to the Royal Charter a few times now, some spontaneous visits and some booked visits and every time we have had amazing service, great pub food, would definitely recommend

Spontaneously decided to take the family for a meal and drinks. Table service due to Covid restrictions but that wasn't a problem. We were not waiting long before our drink order was taken. Food was delicious and the young lady who served us was very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Great value and service. We will be back again soon.

Food had bugs in, drinks delayed, Staff argued with you about asking for a manager x2 staff! Manager came but still never offered anything but stressful times for staff which I understand but if you work in hospitality at least put a smile on!! Will never come back again. Disgusting service from a fellow hospitality employee no track and trace offered,,soon as complained staff was horrible to full party spent over 100 pound on 1 hour visit to be treated with no reapect

If you want to wait to hell to freeze over waiting for a drink here's your place! Organisation of a flea my 9 year old could do better. I won't be back.
