Rose & Crown in Bury

Great people, staff and customers, this place is ideal for anyone who likes real ale and friendly company. This post does not necessarily reflect visits since June '24.

New owners in 2024. They are working really hard and it shows. A really nice feel to the place.

Came here to do work on Monday... Martin was a great host and very accommodating throughout our visit... Since taking over he has really turned this pub around... With new lines, new pumps and a super cold cellar the draught pints here will be something to savour. The new cocktail dispensing pump is a really unique touch I've never seen before (photo), Martin poured me a sample of each to demonstrate it ... A cocktail in seconds... With a perfect mix every time ... Nice and strong but very tasty 😋😋 The (new and improved) Rose And Crown With its Fresh refurbishment and stunning new pump heads looks the business. Not serving food currently but a great place for drinks and live sports. (Oops...Photos have dazzle from the bright lights... I Will refresh them on my next visit)

As stated be previous review, the new owners have an outstanding bill to pay, we are a small local family business and rely on the good nature of the community and people in it, yet we have been conned by these con artists who also own 4 more other pubs.refuse to pick up the phone. ..very unprofessional, untrustworthy!! The new owner of this pub is a guy called Martin Fury, he likes hiring local small businesses and running up big bills with them and then doesn’t pay !! Not a nice guy doesn’t deserve your money !!

Wow has this place gone down hill since Eva and the gang left. They brought in some couldn't be bothered landlord who would rather sit at the end of the bar on their phone than deal with the 'inconvenience' of customers. Both pints we had served were flat and we were the only ones in on a Friday night. Scraps of paper on the windows for signs, it was like going back in time. Such a massive shame, this used to be a lovely welcoming real ale pub with a landlady who actually had a clue about running a business. Would love someone to raise it from the ashes who knows what it is to run a good local and make it a warm and inviting place to go to.

Relaxing place to have a quiet pint and watch the television. It’s old fashioned with friendly locals and the toilet wasn’t scruffy which I was half expecting ring it to be. Decent selection of ale and decent enough service. Not a bad place to visit.

Would never go back again. Beer was off and service was abysmal

Lovely friendly pub, filled will locals who welcome you with a smile and open arms. Great choice of cask ales and gins! The cheese and salami box is great value! Really friendly bartenders who looks after everyone with a smile! :) Make sure you pop in!

Great to see the best neighbourhood real ale pub in Bury open again. Eva and the team have used the closure period to refresh and refurbish too.... very nicely done! Popped in for a quick pint after a walk and 3 hours later I managed to drag myself away

Went in for a couple of pints after college. This was my first time in here and I was very impressed, first with the organisation and the choice of cask ales. Will definitely be coming back

Great traditional locals pub just a short walk from the town centre

Lovely traditional pub serving a good selection of real ales at a good price no food which I don't mind. Not sure why everyone seems to stand at the bar rather than sitting down. Otherwise nice local pub.

Outstanding service, excellent range of real ales. The clientelle are so easy to talk to. A traditional local that is proving more difficult to discover at a time of pub closures. Please keep this historic pub open. A central meeting place to the community.

A great pub especially after a Bury FC home game. A happy and friendly crowd and both times I have been in there has been food provided free of charge.

A full set of session beers, all well kept and a great atmosphere between both sets of supporters both pre and post match. Worth noting a hot buffet is served after the game, unfortunately we couldn't stay to sample it.

Situated far enough away from the centre of Bury to hopefully avoid the ne'er do wells this pub has a decent selection of cask ales served by friendly bar staff. Untappd rating 3.3

The Rose and Crown now back to it's former glory. Warm, friendly atmosphere with many, many gallons of fine, fresh, foaming British ale.

Proper pub. A couple of real ales on today, very nice they were too. Not a big pub but a friendly local drinking pub.

Previous owner now moved on, new landlady in, was 6/7/8 beers now down to 2. Talking rubbish as to busy weekend , punch say they can only have so many barrels. Make up your own mind, but this pub will not be in the good beer guide long.

Even newer owners in last couple of weeks. Beer and atmosphere still good, however footy seems to have taken a back seat. Will Bury FC fans still frequent?

Brilliant real ale pub offering around 8 different ales on hand pump. Only a drinking pub, so eat before or after!!😊

Barman didn't understand English when I asked for an orange juice he gave me tonic water I had to point to the orange. Also sat next to a bunch of obnoxious idiots who were obviously regulars.

If you like an old fashioned and friendly pub with real ales

Visited on a Sunday, Sunday menu didn't offer alot of variety! I ordered a Hunters Chicken. Chicken breast was tiny (about half the size of my phone) it contained 1 piece of streaky bacon (about 2 inches long) and a small portion of cheese accompanied by approximately 10 chips and shitloads of salad, the food tasted ok but I expected more for the £8 I paid for it. My Dad had a pensioners sunday dinner which he rated as average but suspected some of it was microwaved. Staff were polite and professional. Would visit again but wouldn't return on a Sunday to eat! - probably won't come again and eat at all to be honest, would recommend going somewhere else. There wasn't anywhere to sit and eat and watch the football as the TV areas aren't very big!
