Rockfish in Weymouth and Portland

Great service, right by the beach, seafood was tasty. They had a kids menu and we got the seafood platter, fish and chips and mackerel. Their bread buns were super soft as well.

Amazing food, on a dreadful rainy day, the experience brightened up our day. I visited with my visually impaired Dad and my Husband. The staff could not have been more attentive. Will be back the next time we are back in Dorset from Northumberland. Will also be trying the online service to have produce delivered to out home. 5 star treatment. Well done. Lynn

After we were rudely turned away at the door in two Arabic restaurants, we had a wonderful meal here. Also - or especially - our little dog was very welcome. Fish from the daily menu was offered very professionally and was very, very tasty. Above all, the oysters from the local coast, the mussels - but also the rays and the rockfish tacos - are incredibly tasty.

Had a lovely birthday celebration lunch today for my sister. Great service and delicious food. The serving staff went that extra mile to make a very enjoyable occasion. Thank you.

Had such a great evening. The food was perfect, especially the cockles, oysters and sea bream. Nothing could be improved in any way, including the comical shipping forecast in the toilets! I highly recommend this restaurant. Someone told me to go to Hall's instead. Glad I didn't.

Fabulous food. Was looking for a really nice meal. My friend and I had a amazing meal with also a bottle of champagne. The youngish man was really good about all the food on offer as it changes to whatever fish they catch.

Wow! Fantastic food,fantastic atmosphere, fantastic staff! Could not rate this restaurant more! Was such an enjoyable experience. Our waiter solley was an absolute super star as was everyone else in there. Lots of superb extra touches. Even the lavatories made me smile with the funny shipping forecast and moisturiser for your hands after you've washed. Food was to die for!!! Could not recommend enough!!! 5 star rating is not enough should be a 10.

the food was amazing, however this place claims to be dog friendly, and as a member of staff (a lovely, polite young girl with glasses) came over to say hello to the dog, her manager (glasses, short hair and tattoos) snidely shouted over our table for her to check her section after she had been at our table all of 30 seconds. i wasn’t impressed with the service to begin with, but enjoyed interacting with the polite young girl. her rude manager ruined our experience at the restaurant by micromanaging his staff. not a good look RockFish! if that’s how you treat your staff for politely interacting with customers (after subpar service to begin with) i’d rather not give my custom!

It was a pleasure watching Carl work. He was able to fit us in without reservations for a delicious meal. We were lucky it must be the last table because other people didn’t make it in. We were so lucky to find rockfish and Carl. It was referred to us by some foodies we met at a truffle hunt The food was delicious. The service was excellent, and the patrons at the neighboring table were interesting and fun to talk to.

Delicious food, friendly service from Mischa. I had the prawn cocktail, which isn't over poweringly spicy, and the rockfish fillets with chips. Fish was excellently cooked, as were the chips. Sorry I didn't take any pictures as I'd eaten it all before I thought about it. I've been here before IV a previous trip to Weymouth and totally recommend it.

I visited Weymouth with an old friend and we booked a table at Rockfish - so pleased we did! You’re greeted so warmly and looked after so attentively, there’s an array of freshly caught fish on offer as well as plenty of other options on the menu, and the food itself was just delicious. Highly recommended!

Really worth a visit, the food is freshly cooked and very nice. They have daily specials that they explain when you sit down. Ok it’s not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The shipping forecast played in the toilets is funny, I liked the navigation charts on the walls too. The toilets are the cleanest I’ve seen anywhere! We are returning to Weymouth in February 25 and we’ll definitely visit again. We did pre book, they reserved us a table out of the way as we had 2 dogs 🐶 with us and they were most welcome too.

Myself and my partner decided to come here as we love see food. We arrived and was immediately approached by a server to offer a table. She was lovely and friendly. I explained I was gluten intolerant and she explained they are affiliated with the coeliac society and every dish could be adapted to gluten free. We were then seated and it was what I can only describe as an impeccable service.the servers were very attentive with attention to detail. The food arrived and it was delicious and hot. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood 😋

What a beautiful end to our family holiday. Four of us with two babies and the waitress was very patient and attentive. We all had starters and mains which were excellent. The specials were Seabream and it was exquisite. Thank you.

Lovely place to eat. Great to choose from the catch of the day. Last time we went we had the hake and the monk fish. And our little one had a huge piece of battered halibut, and she was delighted with the unlimited chips. Nice decor, very nautical! Good vibe, very friendly and helpful staff. We will continue to go back. The funny version of the shipping forecast being broadcast in the toilets is amusing. Returned again recently and I love this place, one of the most consistently great places I have ever been to.

Came in for lunch after a beach trip and was impressed by the atmosphere. Staff were really friendly, the kids pack a great addition and amazing quality food. Well worth a visit!

Cannot post re food but found member of staff rude and unhelpful when trying to reserve a table when they obviously could have accommodated us, making excuses and obviously could not be bothered to assist.

Really lovely food and service. I had the haddock and chips and the family had the mixed sea food platter. With a drink for the 3 of us the bill was £94. Several people arrived, looked at the prices and left, which is understandable...However, the food was well cooked, fresh tasting and satisfying. Yes, we did have a family chat about the cost but it was out-weighed by our happiness

Been there twice and this time we went for a fish and chips and what a surprise when you get unlimited chips, with two starters to share, the tempura prawns and crispy calamari we didn't need extra chips, the fish good size and thin crust, just perfect. It's the right place to go and try some great fish and seafood while in Weymouth, great location, and the service absolutely outstanding. Thank you!

Dinner last night at Rockfish in Weymouth was just simply excellent at every level. Mitch Tonks is still proving that he is one of the very best restaurant operators in the country, Lottie was our server and I forget the chap's name who met us at the door and sorted out our table, they were both professional, courteous and kind and most of all knowledgeable. The food was out of this world, I had the monkfish scampi followed by the crab and the other two guys had Ray wing, , Dover sole, oysters and calamari. The Two side orders were beautifully done and I honestly cannot fault anything at all with the whole experience. It's just a shame I live five hours away or I'd be back in every week. Well done Mitch- the Empire goes from strength to strength-there is a lot of love in Rockfish, from the team to the guest and to each other and for the produce-there is a lot of care and attention in everything. It's also great value, thank you Rockfish Weymouth, John Whitehead .

We were in Weymouth on holiday and obviously wanted some fish and chips. A quick Google search highlighted Rockfish as being good. We were lucky to get a table as it was so popular. The food was amazing and staff were very friendly with my little ones. It was so good we booked a table to go back on our last day and sampled some of the specials. Well worth the money as excellent food.

Me and my family had such a wonderful time here last night. Staff were warm, friendly and very inviting. The restaurant lay out was really nice and there was a nice atmosphere about the restaurant. James our waiter for the evening was bubbly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about all the house specials and was very eager to fulfil our requirements and requests. the Rockfish lager was delightful and for the food, well it was absolutely fantastic, cooked and presented with Michelin class. Our whole experience was amazing and will definitely return too experience such wonderful food and atmosphere. 5stars

Not the cheapest joint in town, but for seafood provender, service and location, easily one of the better ones in the town. Attentive but unobtrusive service by James, clearly indicative of good customer facing training, which was apparent by all the staff encountered. The paper tablecloth menu, where the 'prise du jour' is written on request, is a novel idea. The quality and freshness of the food, beyond question. Previously untried, a Sautéed Spinach was the chosen side dish. It made an agreeable addition to this reviewers main dish of Chargrilled Sea Bream with Greek Island Salad. My host, an ex RN shipmate of 55 years standing and local to the area, chose from experience, a superb Portuguese Vinho Pescador, that complimented the meal perfectly. A very agreeable lunch.

Slightly more upscale fish and chips restaurant with very good service

Elsea (or Elsie) was our server on a busy Sunday night a week ago. She suggested several items like local oysters, fried rockfish and cuttlefish. The latter was well-prepared but butter for our taste. The fish was wonderful, so much so, that we asked our gal for a second round of a different fish without chips. They happily accommodated! We got the haddock which again did not disappoint. We also found an excellent UK sparkling wine in Nyetimber. Great meal and great service. A shout out to the host on Saturday night (July 13), who I think was Charlotte for squeezing us in!!

Fantastic gem found in weymouth. Very fresh fish ans fantastic gluten free options! Almost the whole menu can be adapted for coeliacs so this is a must. Price point is quite high but for the overall quality and atmosphere I think it was worth it. I will return when I can!

Looked good, welcome was excellent, the service was very slow, main course took ages to turn up. Food was OK, but slightly disappointing. Endless chips was a joke as you could not get anyone to serve them. The bill turned up and although correct what we had was definitely not worth the money.

If you are not white in complexion, then this restaurant is not for you. We felt very bad about an incident that happened at Rockfish restaurant in Weymouth today. We visited for lunch and found a table with 6 chairs available, which suited our group of 6 people. When we asked one of the staff members to take our order, he replied very rudely with a racist comment about our brown complexion and refused to serve us. We left the restaurant and had lunch elsewhere. This is a very unprofessional and unethical gesture from a staff member of a well known restaurant like Rockfish.

Excellent food, would highly recommend the Ray Wing and Dover Sol. The customer service was also amazing, with warm greetings on arrival. Left with full bellies and smiles on our faces

Our 3rd visit to rockfish in Weymouth as we always book a table here whilst on holiday. Food was really tasty, friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Visited Rockfish for the first time whilst in the area on holiday - we sat outside and received first class service from the moment we arrived. The menu looked fantastic, and we were so impressed with our servers knowledge, and the fresh fish options which are written on the table cloth next to the picture of the fish in question. So many options to choose from but our order was taken, and food arrived promptly even though it was a busy evening and all tables inside and outside were full. I absolutely loved everything that we ordered, it was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection! I cannot wait to return when in the area again, and would highly recommend this restaurant! Ended with a crème brulee - which was one of the best that i've ever had! Well done Rockfish - you guys are amazing! A*

I came into this restaurant completely unaware of anything in here me and my fiance had just got engaged so was celebrating and the staff that greeted us were amazing all of them but there was one guy in particular that seated us and served us his name was Solomon and for someone like me who had never been to a place like this he helped me out with the menu he put us both at ease he told me his favourite things and was telling me all these different ways of eating their food that they serve and omg there food was absolutely beautiful we had the oysters and prawns for starters then both of us had the lobster for the main with a bottle of rose wine between us. The atmosphere was lovely The staff were amazing Solomon is a brilliant member of staff thank you soo very much I had a fantastic time here highly recommended. Visited at 6:30pm 5/7/24

Great service and delicious food. They also agreed to prepare some take away fish and chips during dinner service (as an exception) as there wasn't any tables available. We went back for dinner the next day and enjoyed many for the delicious seafood options.

We ate here for 3 days on the trot as the fish dishes were brilliant. Very friendly staff on each visit. The crème brulee was excellent to finish the meal.

So it was our first time coming to this restaurant on the off chance, and it didn't disappoint!! From the staff to the food it was lush! And would highly recommend!

Had to come back 2 times in one day. We have followed our waiters choice both times and I recommend doing the same. If anything, I miss a bigger wine selection to complement the food

We dined in yesterday and had Megrim & Ray wing, the food was ok, mediocre, but a large portion. But the service we received were bad and cold, the waitress never came to our table once to see if we needed anything, I told her to changed my chips to salad, she agreed, but I never received my salad even after we finish the meal. The one served us was indifferent and never smiled once, it could've been a pleasant experience if we chose to takeaway instead:(

Came here on a visit to weymouth which was recommended by somebody. Loved it so much we came twice in 1 week. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable....Don't think twice. Definitely try this place out.

Very nice place. Well located on the coast. Next to the sea. Family atmosphere, in couples and alone. They don't always have the same fish, which is quite varied. For queer lovers it's fine. But the alternatives for vegans or people who do not eat seafood are few. However, we were well cared for. And we had dinner 3 times at the place. Very good desserts. I would surely return again.

A wonderful experience. Beautiful food..so much choice of fresh fish on the menu. Lovely relaxed and quirky setting. Staff were incredibly friendly. The nicest team iv ever had to pleasure to meet. We arrived today. Wind swept and not quite dressed for dinner. The lovely lady on front desk gave us a table without hesitation. All staff attentive, smiley and could not have given more. Absolute 5 star . Thank you so much all of you.

Great restaurant and a great ethos. The selection of fish is excellent and the staff are extremely attentive and knowledgeable, especially on the traceability of the food. Only negative is my halibut was a little over (marginally), but the tartare sauce is out of this world and the oysters are an absolute must. As for children, the portions are some of the largest I've seen and great value considering what you are getting. I would definitely recommend this place if wanting an authentic seafood experience in the heart of Weymouth. Would happily visit again!

Really great restaurant for fresh seafood and fish in Weymouth! Great selection of classic fish dishes, with a range of their fresh catch of the day dishes too. Service was excellent, everything was cooked perfectly, and bonus points for unlimited refills of chips! Our favourites were the tacos, Dover sole and Fritto Misto

Visited here in a group of four for an evening meal. The place is spacious, light and well decorated. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. The menu changes continually due to what is available fresh each day and is not cheap. However the fish was superbly cooked and very tasty. Wine is quite pricey too but if you're looking for a bit of a special seafood meal out this is hard to beat.

We visited this lovely restaurant in May. We chose this place because we were camping nearby with our pooch and it was dog friendly. We are also big fish food lovers. The staff were friendly, inviting and certainly knew their stuff. They personally read out the menus and were informative. The food was amazing! We had starters and a main. The chips are unlimited also. Quite pricey on some items but worth it. We can't wait to go back and sample more.

Place with great concept and looking weel. I pop in cause of Google maps rating (4.6*). Service quality is correct but you can see they are asking same questions every customers like robots, without anything from own minds. Overtrained maybe. Food was a most weak point. Starter: (half pint of prawn) fresh and tasty but you don't need to be passionate to put prawns into glass and serve. Main: it was most overcooked monkfish I ever had. Extra dry. Simply butter and gremolata on side with proper attention to a fish can reach everest of tastiness. Even if they cook it sometimes little bit shorter, still chefs add nothing to make dish lovely to good quality products. Also new potatoes deserve some more attention to make it good (garlic, parsley, ground pepper and sea salt make a miracle 😂). And the coffee 🙈 -don't even try 💔

I should of left this review over a month ago but better late than never. My Husband, myself and our little dog absolutely loved our time at the Rockfish in Weymouth. Food, staff, drink, toilets, atmosphere, all 100%. We especially want to praise Kayleigh and Teigan for making our visit so enjoyable that we not only booked for the following day, but we have booked back in for our next visit to Weymouth at the end of June 😊

Really really expensive and to be honest some better fish and chips in Weymouth. It was nice but the cost was incredibly high which is the takeaway memory from this place.
