Rockfish in Weymouth and Portland

Recently I visited Rockfish with my family the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. Highly recommend and will certainly go again to try different dishes on the menu.

It was a great atmosphere, service and the staff were extremely friendly. It was an amazing experience and the bathrooms were amazing and clean with spectacular design! Definitely recommend!

We were so pleased to celebrate our wedding anniversary in this place. And we must say that the attention from the beginning to the end was spectacular. Our waiter explained us very passionately which fresh fish they had that day and was very polite and kind with us. The team in general is amazing we were able to see them work very hard after a very busy day with the book reservations full. Special mention to the blonde waiter who looked after us all the time and Araceli the Spanish waiter who also was very friendly. Congratulations cause the team you have is awesome. Regarding the food all our dishes were spectacular and we had the best dinner ever. From the wine to the scallops and the fish ending in a great sticky pudding. We will be back no doubts!!!

Good food and lovely staff. Reasonable pricing for good food and of course right by the beach. Also had a great gluten free battered hake that was lovely. Chips were good but not the best.

Had a family meal out here (would advise booking in advance - as it was quite busy!) From the moment we arrived, the staff were attentive and explained things to us on the menu. Our waitress, Teagan, was friendly & humorous, (giving me some grief for my choice of football team!) and explained the daily specials & pricing to us well. Our mains were bought to us by another member of staff (unfortunately, I didn't catch his name!) but he was also attentive and helped us to understand the best methods of dismantling some of our culinary choices (specifically as we had ordered things we wouldn't typically have!) All in all, a fantastic experience - we will be keeping an eye out for the other restaurants across the south coast.

Me andy family went for a special occasion lunch at rockfish Weymouth. Despite me phoning twice to make sure they had 2 lobsters for our meal. They did not let me down. They even (as I asked them) brought a live lobster to the table to show my sister who the special occasion was for. (My sister is disabled and the staff were so helpful. Yes expensive as previous people have said. But you get what you pay for and me and my family will be going back! I even purchased the cookbook and mugs when I got home.

We love to go there whenever we are in Weymouth. 'Rocking' variety of fish on the menu, lovely atmosphere, unlimited chips.. oh, and the staff are very helpful..

Blown away with the service and food. Not everything is available due to what they have bought that morning fresh from the fishing boats but plenty of choice. We opted to share a lobster and 2 starters followed with a dessert. We was recommended to try here by a few people on a local caravan site page and so glad we found it. It's a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for also unlimited chips with your meal

We had a really tasty lunch there. The food options were very exciting and everything tasted good, including the salads which are often very boring and tasteless. Not here, it was more like a nice salad you prepare at home if you knew how to make a good dressing. But the seafood was the star of the show. Scallops and Ray wing expertly prepared and delicious. We loved the service most of all. The staff always showed up anticipating everything we needed and just being really kind and professional. Bought the cookbook too, will definitely return.

Such a fantastic experience ! I had the sea bream with the Greek salad - it tasted fresh and there were so many amazing flavours. My husband who isn’t a massive seafood lover had the lemon sole with chips (the chips are unlimited btw) and he really enjoyed it. The drinks selection included good non-alcoholic alternatives. The service was fast and friendly . Loved how they shared the specials /fresh fish for the day on the menu. Would highly recommend booking as there was a sign outside the door saying fully booked (it was a bank holiday Sunday). We will definitely return when we next visit Weymouth.

Busy on a Monday night outside the school holidays. That's all you need to know really. Very fresh seafood perfectly cooked with a refreshingly simple menu and superb staff. Also a big fan of their chips - shame I didn't have room for the (genius idea} refillable chips. Icing on the cake? Super dog friendly as well.

We had no reservation and just walked in with 3 people, they happily accommodated us with no fuss! The food was excellent and super fresh, with specials of the day and unlimited fries. The staff is very attentive and will offer to top up fries and drinks if you're running low. A must stop if you're in the area!

Excellent fresh fish restaurant with the option of unlimited chips as one of their side dishes. Plus a wide ranging drinks menu. Note if you don't eat fish or seafood there is only really 1 chicken and 1 vegetarian alternative. But that just reinforces how focused they are on being a great, fresh off the boat, seafood restaurant

Amazing place lovely staff and food

Service was excellent. Our waitress, her first day, was lovely. Also, Solly was great too. I liked that they wrote on your table cloth what was available that day and the price. A great moment. In addition, the welcome as we entered and when we booked, lovely, welcoming and friendly. Loved the shipping forecast in the toilets. A nice touch that we remember. Unlimited chips were really unlimited - brilliant. No terms and conditions, maybes, or if you’d, just unlimited. Ronseal! Fish…cooked perfectly. Anchovy mayonnaise was exceptional. Plus, the homemade tartare was fabulous and the curry sauce was out of this world. The Rockfish lager was good too.

This place is an absolute gem!! It's a must visit for fish & seafood lovers. The service was top tier from all of the staff. Nothing was too much and they're all so accommodating to requests. The food was so fresh and tasty, the prawn tacos were especially good! The atmosphere and decore was lovely. I would 100% visit again.

The food was a bit bland and also the portion was small considering the price. I loved the atmosphere and the service. I loved how creative their menu was.

I am probably being a little harsh but there were a few things that just made this not quite 5-star. One thing is the inconsistency in portions - for example for a starter we ordered calamari at £11:50 and anchovy skewers at £6:50. The calamari was great but the skewers were in fact two tooth picks with two fillets, a mini pickled green chilli and an olive on both! Wild and something I could eat on tap at home as the raw ingredients were all preserved. My partners Ray wing was really nice and my monk fish was a lovely piece of fish but very bland - add some herbs and seasoning to that batter. The one that bugged me was the “unlimited chips offer” which is a bit like when a company offers you “unlimited holiday”. They provided me with the tiniest portion on my plate - we are talking smaller than a kids potion (about 9 chips mostly the end pieces) and then the onus is on you to source more which then are made to order. Over complicated and needlessly so, to the point I think it’s an attempt to put you off. Not a bad experience at all and I’d eat here again as the fish is very high quality but as I say a few things short of a top mark.

The food was ok but for the very high price tag I was expecting a lot more. Service was a little slow for a half empty restaurant unfortunately.

What a gem! We reserved lunch for two plus our Labrador puppy. We were thoughtfully placed in a more secluded part of the restaurant so our puppy could relax and people-watch in peace. From the outset we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff and felt incredibly welcome. We opted for the rockfish cider and a glass of the Portuguese white wine; both of which were lovely. We ordered the padron peppers, calamari, and oysters which were a standout and some of the best oysters I’ve tasted. The Dover sole main with beurre noisette was inspired and exquisitely cooked. The ray wing was equally buttery and delicious. We finished the meal with three delicate chocolate gelato Bon Bons. Overall I cant rate Rockfish highly enough, our waitress Isla was brilliant and made us feel very well looked after. Both the service and food were second to none. We will definitely be returning!

Today we had food from Rockfish Weymouth. Excellent food with great taste❤️ We had tiger prawns and lobster 🦞.. Absolutely delicious..We will definitely try again on our visit ☺️☺️

Great food & great service. Many had reservations but we turned up without a reservation & even though they were very busy on a Saturday lunchtime they were very happy to try & accommodate 4 adults (1 in a wheelchair) & a doggie - excellent customer care. Food is first class, prices are totally reasonable & even better chips are unlimited. Great work all at Rockfish - other restaurants could learn a lot from the guys here. 👏

We had lunch here and the food was amazing. We had 2 children under 5 in our group and their food came out first which was great as it saves them getting bored while waiting. The place is very clean with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

We had a fantastic experience at Rockfish. We arrived a bit scruffy from the beach with our dog but were treated to a near perfect dining experience with delicious food, attentive, friendly service and a table slightly away from other dinners that meant the dog was calm throughout. As soon as we sat down they brought water for the table and a bowl of water for the dog. We'd been a bit nervous about going to a nice restaurant with hound but they made it really easy. Food was also brilliant, could have eaten the whole menu. Gloriously fresh and cooked to make the quality of the fish shine. Was a really joyous experience. A lovely end of our holiday meal.

Almost everything is gluten free!!! So awesome to eat without worry. The fish was so fresh. And the sticky toffee pudding was to die for!!

I went to Rockfish for my birthday last week and all I can say is wow. It’s got to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, amazing choice of delicious, high quality food with good portion sizes. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they also gave me a free mug for my birthday which was nice of them, and overall the dining experience was fantastic. The wine and beer is also very good. I had Whitebait as a starter and a whole grilled cuttlefish as a main, both were 10/10. I love how the Whitebait were not covered in thick batter either like I’ve had at a few other places. I went with my partner who isn’t a seafood fan and they also had a really nice non seafood option (breaded chicken). The unlimited chips were a really nice touch too and the Anchovy Mayonnaise was the perfect accompaniment. I would highly recommend Rockfish to any seafood lovers.

Visited here whilst on holiday in the area. Being coeliac I'd researched the best gluten free restaurants and came across here, so glad I did! It was fantastic. Pretty much the whole menu can be made gluten free on request! Food tasted delicious. Would love to return if in the area again 😊

Very enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere and good service. Interesting menu but my fish, whilst ok (sea bream) was the least favourite part of my meal which was otherwise excellent. I had greek salad and garlic coleslaw, and a few of my partner's delicious chips. Maybe I didn't choose well.

Wonderful meal. Highly recommend the freshly caught fish. The brill was perfectly cooked and my ray wing was delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

We went here after seeing the excellent google reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is bright, airy and modern. Happily recommend and will definitely be back.

Genuinely hit the top rating across food, freshness, service and experience. Everyone so attentive, showing us the catch of the day, to in season mussels, to paired wines and unique twists to traditional dishes. But above all - a great set of staff who just love working there.

Special deal around twenty-two pounds for two courses. Tempura prawns were OK. The main course of whole lemon sole was nicely cooked but more bone than fish. Price included unlimited chips. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. Toilets are up some stairs, so it is no good if you have accessibility issues. All clean and well kept. Staff are friendly. Casual relaxed vibe. I would go again but choose something off the main menu.

I was not expecting such good service and great food! It was a great experience. Since we went in we were warmly welcomed. Tiahna was so nice with us and accommodate our requests with a beautiful smile on her face happily serving several tables at the same time. The food did not disappoint! All our food was so fresh we could tell the difference, beautiful presented and the taste was superb. Thank you for making our dinner absolutely perfect

Amazing service from as soon as we walked in the door. The bubbly was delivered for my partners bithday. We were told who our server would be and he couldnt have been any more helpful. He was great with food and sauce choices. I would highly recommend to anyone. We will definetly be returning in the future.

We visited for a little lunch on a quiet weekday. We tried the starter scallops and both had the set menu, tempura prawn and lemon sole. Very delicious, really nice food, great atmosphere. Only complaint, I think the lemon sole should come with a tartare sauce or some sort of sauce on the side, not an additional price. It could do with something extra. I do think this restaurant is quite expensive, but I would still go for a treat. The tempura prawns were beautiful , not oily at all and the scallops were absolutely perfect. Really delicious.

Rockfish is reliably fantastic. The staff work hard to deliver a great service.

Is it pricey? Oh yes. Is it delicious? It's fantastic. Seafood cooked sympathetically to a very high standard and delivered by talented waiting staff. Take the recommendation even if a plate of it is £40. It's special food.

Cold fish .. and very overpriced .. £5 for 5 patron peppers..really !! .. then the grilled fish platter £80 for 2 served on a silver tray was warm when it arrived and cold very quickly and the prawns were missing .. calamari was like a salad . Our mistake was in eating it because we we hungry...they took £9 for the extras off the bill .. I guess this is what you get at a beach town restaurant where most of the clients are on holiday so they don't really care about them returning .. Pity really because the fish was good but cold ..

Absolutely incredible! The freshest and yummiest seafood ever. Tried their cattlefish, Dover sole, Portland oysters, and haddock and hake fish and chips 🦪🐟 3 days in a row! Loved it so much.

I had an amazing experience at Rockfish. Me and my boyfriend had the loveliest Rockfish host, a young man with amazing curly hair and a moustache. He was informative, friendly, helpful and delivered us brilliant service. All the staff we spoke to was so lovely and friendly and made our experience so enjoyable. That’s not even speaking of the incredible seafood and fish we gobbled up! The best restaurant experience I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy in years. Thanks so much Rockfish Team!!

It was the first time I had visited .The selection of fish is very impressive . The list of fish of the day are the top end and the prices reflect that .There are set menus though and alternatives to fish too.You can keep on ordering chips which don't alter the price .Staff were very attentive when needed and understanding if there were any issues.Very impressed .

We had a very good meal here for 6. Mussels were great. My son left his snuggles there and they rang us and posted it home. Great place lovely people

Rockfish: amazing! We will be back. Unlimited yummy chips (no sad fries here!) 🤤 Amazingly friendly staff who bent over backwards to make sure that my toddler nephew and our two labradors had a lovely time. Great service, right by the beach, seafood was tasty. They had a kids menu and we got the seafood platter, fish and chips and mackerel. Their bread buns were super soft as well.

Amazing food, on a dreadful rainy day, the experience brightened up our day. I visited with my visually impaired Dad and my Husband. The staff could not have been more attentive. Will be back the next time we are back in Dorset from Northumberland. Will also be trying the online service to have produce delivered to out home. 5 star treatment. Well done. Lynn

After we were rudely turned away at the door in two Arabic restaurants, we had a wonderful meal here. Also - or especially - our little dog was very welcome. Fish from the daily menu was offered very professionally and was very, very tasty. Above all, the oysters from the local coast, the mussels - but also the rays and the rockfish tacos - are incredibly tasty.

This is an amazing fish restaurant where you can order the catch of the day. The staff are so very helpful so it is definitely worth saving up for thar special occasion 😀

Had such a great evening. The food was perfect, especially the cockles, oysters and sea bream. Nothing could be improved in any way, including the comical shipping forecast in the toilets! I highly recommend this restaurant. Someone told me to go to Hall's instead. Glad I didn't.
