Rockfish in Weymouth and Portland

Visited here whilst on holiday in the area. Being coeliac I'd researched the best gluten free restaurants and came across here, so glad I did! It was fantastic. Pretty much the whole menu can be made gluten free on request! Food tasted delicious. Would love to return if in the area again 😊

Very enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere and good service. Interesting menu but my fish, whilst ok (sea bream) was the least favourite part of my meal which was otherwise excellent. I had greek salad and garlic coleslaw, and a few of my partner's delicious chips. Maybe I didn't choose well.

Wonderful meal. Highly recommend the freshly caught fish. The brill was perfectly cooked and my ray wing was delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a fabulous lunchtime meal on my daughters birthday, 13th March.. Everything about the experience was first class. We had a lovely server named Ella, who we felt cared about our service and was also interested in us a people, we were made to feel like family. Thank you Ella.

We went here after seeing the excellent google reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is bright, airy and modern. Happily recommend and will definitely be back.

Genuinely hit the top rating across food, freshness, service and experience. Everyone so attentive, showing us the catch of the day, to in season mussels, to paired wines and unique twists to traditional dishes. But above all - a great set of staff who just love working there.

Lovely range of fresh fish meals with a variety of side orders, including unlimited fries. I had Pollock which was lovely and similar to cod.

We had the best time here with our waitress Ella, who was funny and kind and made our evening absolutely perfect! Would recommend for anyone with fussy kids!!

Special deal around twenty-two pounds for two courses. Tempura prawns were OK. The main course of whole lemon sole was nicely cooked but more bone than fish. Price included unlimited chips. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. Toilets are up some stairs, so it is no good if you have accessibility issues. All clean and well kept. Staff are friendly. Casual relaxed vibe. I would go again but choose something off the main menu.

I was not expecting such good service and great food! It was a great experience. Since we went in we were warmly welcomed. Tiahna was so nice with us and accommodate our requests with a beautiful smile on her face happily serving several tables at the same time. The food did not disappoint! All our food was so fresh we could tell the difference, beautiful presented and the taste was superb. Thank you for making our dinner absolutely perfect

Amazing service from as soon as we walked in the door. The bubbly was delivered for my partners bithday. We were told who our server would be and he couldnt have been any more helpful. He was great with food and sauce choices. I would highly recommend to anyone. We will definetly be returning in the future.

We visited for a little lunch on a quiet weekday. We tried the starter scallops and both had the set menu, tempura prawn and lemon sole. Very delicious, really nice food, great atmosphere. Only complaint, I think the lemon sole should come with a tartare sauce or some sort of sauce on the side, not an additional price. It could do with something extra. I do think this restaurant is quite expensive, but I would still go for a treat. The tempura prawns were beautiful , not oily at all and the scallops were absolutely perfect. Really delicious.

Rockfish is reliably fantastic. The staff work hard to deliver a great service.

Is it pricey? Oh yes. Is it delicious? It's fantastic. Seafood cooked sympathetically to a very high standard and delivered by talented waiting staff. Take the recommendation even if a plate of it is £40. It's special food.

Came here for my mums 75th birthday on 6th December. Food was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful, service excellent. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming again 😊

Cold fish .. and very overpriced .. £5 for 5 patron peppers..really !! .. then the grilled fish platter £80 for 2 served on a silver tray was warm when it arrived and cold very quickly and the prawns were missing .. calamari was like a salad . Our mistake was in eating it because we we hungry...they took £9 for the extras off the bill .. I guess this is what you get at a beach town restaurant where most of the clients are on holiday so they don't really care about them returning .. Pity really because the fish was good but cold ..

Absolutely incredible! The freshest and yummiest seafood ever. Tried their cattlefish, Dover sole, Portland oysters, and haddock and hake fish and chips 🦪🐟 3 days in a row! Loved it so much.

I had an amazing experience at Rockfish. Me and my boyfriend had the loveliest Rockfish host, a young man with amazing curly hair and a moustache. He was informative, friendly, helpful and delivered us brilliant service. All the staff we spoke to was so lovely and friendly and made our experience so enjoyable. That’s not even speaking of the incredible seafood and fish we gobbled up! The best restaurant experience I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy in years. Thanks so much Rockfish Team!!

It was the first time I had visited .The selection of fish is very impressive . The list of fish of the day are the top end and the prices reflect that .There are set menus though and alternatives to fish too.You can keep on ordering chips which don't alter the price .Staff were very attentive when needed and understanding if there were any issues.Very impressed .

Rockfish: amazing! We will be back. Unlimited yummy chips (no sad fries here!) 🤤 Amazingly friendly staff who bent over backwards to make sure that my toddler nephew and our two labradors had a lovely time. Our host (missed their name but had v cool tattoos) was wonderful. Delicious fish, just sad I didn't have a second stomach to fit more in! Definitely go. It's lovely. Great service, right by the beach, seafood was tasty. They had a kids menu and we got the seafood platter, fish and chips and mackerel. Their bread buns were super soft as well.

Amazing food, on a dreadful rainy day, the experience brightened up our day. I visited with my visually impaired Dad and my Husband. The staff could not have been more attentive. After we were rudely turned away at the door in two Arabic restaurants, we had a wonderful meal here. Also - or especially - our little dog was very welcome. Fish from the daily menu was offered very professionally and was very, very tasty. Above all, the oysters from the local coast, the mussels - but also the rays and the rockfish tacos - are incredibly tasty.

This is an amazing fish restaurant where you can order the catch of the day. The staff are so very helpful so it is definitely worth saving up for thar special occasion 😀

Had such a great evening. The food was perfect, especially the cockles, oysters and sea bream. Nothing could be improved in any way, including the comical shipping forecast in the toilets! I highly recommend this restaurant. Someone told me to go to Hall's instead. Glad I didn't.

Fabulous food. Was looking for a really nice meal. My friend and I had a amazing meal with also a bottle of champagne. The youngish man was really good about all the food on offer as it changes to whatever fish they catch.

Our waiter solley was an absolute super star as was everyone else in there. Lots of superb extra touches. Even the lavatories made me smile with the funny shipping forecast and moisturiser for your hands after you've washed. Food was to die for!!! Could not recommend enough!!! 5 star rating is not enough should be a 10.

the food was amazing, however this place claims to be dog friendly, and as a member of staff (a lovely, polite young girl with glasses) came over to say hello to the dog, her manager (glasses, short hair and tattoos) snidely shouted over our table for her to check her section after she had been at our table all of 30 seconds. i wasn’t impressed with the service to begin with, but enjoyed interacting with the polite young girl. her rude manager ruined our experience at the restaurant by micromanaging his staff. not a good look RockFish! if that’s how you treat your staff for politely interacting with customers (after subpar service to begin with) i’d rather not give my custom!

It was a pleasure watching Carl work. He was able to fit us in without reservations for a delicious meal. We were lucky it must be the last table because other people didn’t make it in. We were so lucky to find rockfish and Carl. It was referred to us by some foodies we met at a truffle hunt The food was delicious. The service was excellent, and the patrons at the neighboring table were interesting and fun to talk to.

Delicious food, friendly service from Mischa. I had the prawn cocktail, which isn't over poweringly spicy, and the rockfish fillets with chips. Fish was excellently cooked, as were the chips. Sorry I didn't take any pictures as I'd eaten it all before I thought about it. I've been here before IV a previous trip to Weymouth and totally recommend it.

I visited Weymouth with an old friend and we booked a table at Rockfish - so pleased we did! You’re greeted so warmly and looked after so attentively, there’s an array of freshly caught fish on offer as well as plenty of other options on the menu, and the food itself was just delicious. Highly recommended!

Really worth a visit, the food is freshly cooked and very nice. They have daily specials that they explain when you sit down. Ok it’s not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The shipping forecast played in the toilets is funny, I liked the navigation charts on the walls too. The toilets are the cleanest I’ve seen anywhere! We are returning to Weymouth in February 25 and we’ll definitely visit again. We did pre book, they reserved us a table out of the way as we had 2 dogs 🐶 with us and they were most welcome too.

Myself and my partner decided to come here as we love see food. We arrived and was immediately approached by a server to offer a table. She was lovely and friendly. I explained I was gluten intolerant and she explained they are affiliated with the coeliac society and every dish could be adapted to gluten free. We were then seated and it was what I can only describe as an impeccable service.the servers were very attentive with attention to detail. The food arrived and it was delicious and hot. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood 😋

Lovely place to eat. Great to choose from the catch of the day. Last time we went we had the hake and the monk fish. And our little one had a huge piece of battered halibut, and she was delighted with the unlimited chips. Nice decor, very nautical! Good vibe, very friendly and helpful staff. We will continue to go back. The funny version of the shipping forecast being broadcast in the toilets is amusing. Returned again recently and I love this place, one of the most consistently great places I have ever been to.

What a beautiful end to our family holiday. Four of us with two babies and the waitress was very patient and attentive. We all had starters and mains which were excellent. The specials were Seabream and it was exquisite. Thank you.

Really lovely food and service. I had the haddock and chips and the family had the mixed sea food platter. With a drink for the 3 of us the bill was £94. Several people arrived, looked at the prices and left, which is understandable...However, the food was well cooked, fresh tasting and satisfying. Yes, we did have a family chat about the cost but it was out-weighed by our happiness

Had a fantastic meal in here, chips were amazing, not at all greasy, the service was great. Would definitely eat here again. Bonus is that dogs are welcome

Been there twice and this time we went for a fish and chips and what a surprise when you get unlimited chips, with two starters to share, the tempura prawns and crispy calamari we didn't need extra chips, the fish good size and thin crust, just perfect. It's the right place to go and try some great fish and seafood while in Weymouth, great location, and the service absolutely outstanding. Thank you!

This was a real find, a lovely restaurant, delicious fresh fish and really lovely staff. You’d be missing a trick if you came to Weymouth and didn’t come here for a meal.

Dinner last night at Rockfish in Weymouth was just simply excellent at every level. Mitch Tonks is still proving that he is one of the very best restaurant operators in the country, Lottie was our server and I forget the chap's name who met us at the door and sorted out our table, they were both professional, courteous and kind and most of all knowledgeable. The food was out of this world, I had the monkfish scampi followed by the crab and the other two guys had Ray wing, , Dover sole, oysters and calamari. The Two side orders were beautifully done and I honestly cannot fault anything at all with the whole experience. It's just a shame I live five hours away or I'd be back in every week. Well done Mitch- the Empire goes from strength to strength-there is a lot of love in Rockfish, from the team to the guest and to each other and for the produce-there is a lot of care and attention in everything. It's also great value, thank you Rockfish Weymouth, John Whitehead .

We were in Weymouth on holiday and obviously wanted some fish and chips. A quick Google search highlighted Rockfish as being good. We were lucky to get a table as it was so popular. The food was amazing and staff were very friendly with my little ones. It was so good we booked a table to go back on our last day and sampled some of the specials. Well worth the money as excellent food.

Me and my family had such a wonderful time here last night. Staff were warm, friendly and very inviting. The restaurant lay out was really nice and there was a nice atmosphere about the restaurant. James our waiter for the evening was bubbly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about all the house specials and was very eager to fulfil our requirements and requests. the Rockfish lager was delightful and for the food, well it was absolutely fantastic, cooked and presented with Michelin class. Our whole experience was amazing and will definitely return too experience such wonderful food and atmosphere. 5stars

Not the cheapest joint in town, but for seafood provender, service and location, easily one of the better ones in the town. Attentive but unobtrusive service by James, clearly indicative of good customer facing training, which was apparent by all the staff encountered. The paper tablecloth menu, where the 'prise du jour' is written on request, is a novel idea. The quality and freshness of the food, beyond question. Previously untried, a Sautéed Spinach was the chosen side dish. It made an agreeable addition to this reviewers main dish of Chargrilled Sea Bream with Greek Island Salad. My host, an ex RN shipmate of 55 years standing and local to the area, chose from experience, a superb Portuguese Vinho Pescador, that complimented the meal perfectly. A very agreeable lunch.

Great restaurant to dine in. They cook some meals with alcohol but if you ask them not to they wont. Great atmosphere. Fish cooked to perfection
