Rivas is an unassuming place, on the edge of the town centre in a largely residential area. Although the address is Tavern Street, the entrance is actually on Brunswick Street, which can be confusing. We dined here with friends and had a really good meal which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The menu isn't big and they do not serve alcohol. Neither of which was an issue for our party. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly. We were served mainly by a young man who deserves particular mention. The chef even came out to say goodbye as we were leaving. We have been to other restaurants with more extensive menus and flashier decor, but few that gave me the same feeling of my custom being valued. I highly recommend you to try it

Recommended by a work colleague and made a reservation straight away. Was very quiet when we went, but it was still a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The menu is short and all the better for it. Everything is fresh, homemade, and as authentic as you will ever get. It doesn't have a licence to sell alcohol but we were told we could bring our own next time if we wanted. Our food was delicious, and a tea with baklava finished things off perfectly. Can't wait to go back . Wakefield's hidden gem!

Absolutely delicious home cooked food from the heart. Cannot fault anything. The service the generosity, the hospitality. Cannot recommend more highly... They don't serve alcohol yet but maybe they could charge you a small corking fee if you wanted to bring your own.

The restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away in a queue part of town. The service was excellent, and the business is family owned and run. The menu has lots of choices and is grill-based with lots of different traditional Persian options; all dishes being served with a choice of saffron rice or chips. The portions are very generous, as is the pricing. I cannot recommend Riva's highly enough!

Went here a while ago and it was medecoca at best I keep on looking to go back cause the so called owner keeps saying it's being renovated for over a Yr and now it says temporary closed which dose not surprise me saying how poorly it was run the owner had a son there which was made known to me quickly by the regulars and he acted like he was above anyone and the owners did nothing about it horrible customer service. If this dose open again I would not recommend going as the whole family seems to be entitled and don't know how to run a business i would not be surprised if it close permanently due the actions of them

I used to be a fan of this place but unfortunatelly, I noticed that there are new owners maybe. I cook since I was 4 with granny and I have several questions. My question is, why menu is the same? I know u post some pictures on FB but menu - same. Where is Polish best stuff? Krupnik, botwina, barszcz, grochowa, szczawiowa, light polish soups, where are starters? Beef tartare, zimne nozki, herrings, pate, good sourdough bread, butter, pickles, lard, jarzynowa salad, why there is no salad for main light one with veg, vinegratte and grilled chicken. All main courses dishes are chicken and pork, the cheapest cuts. Why not to do friday beef steaks, thursdays with bbq outside - sausage, pork neck , black pudding, bread roll, mustard, ketchup etc, pozarski, leniwe, kopytka, pyzy, GOLABKI? Kind of promotion....i feel laziness here. Polish people miss those flavours. P.S what meat do you use for rosol? Best regards.
