This is the first time I had lunch at this restaurant. It tastes very authentic to northern China. The Chongqing noodles are so delicious! The pork rib noodles are so authentic! The large intestine is washed very clean. If you like pig intestines, you should order the large intestine noodles. The price is very affordable! Was here with friends for late lunch on a Sunday. It wasn't very busy and we were able to secure a table for 5. Friends seemed to have enjoyed their food. I tried their braised tofu - doesn't say they use egg tofu on the menu, with an egg fried rice on the side. The portions and presentations were fine, but both were far too salty. The MSG also meant an aftertaste lasting hours and the usual headache that I get. Cash only - there're cash machines available not far, one's just round the corner on Byres Road. Maybe it's worth it if you eat meat. But for someone on a meat-free diet like me, you aren't missing anything by going elsewhere. Would not recommend.

People from the Northeast are noisy and noisy in the restaurant. The exchange rate is the highest! ! ! Normally 8.6 counts as 9.1. First time ordering, and I think it’s due to preference if I’m honest. I ordered salt and pepper chips which I like spicy and crunchy, and they were soft and more sweet but they were still nice. I also ordered Fried rice curry sauce which was a little dry but it was lovely. I wouldn’t order here again, but I still enjoyed my food x

They only accept cash or WeChat pay. Can’t do visa debit. That’s so frustrating.

Today is the first day of the Lunar New Year, so unlucky to eat at this restaurant. I have never given a negative review, but this time I really felt that this store was a huge mess. 1. Only WeChat transfers (must add friends) and cash are accepted. Today’s real-time exchange rate is 9.07. The store calculates the exchange rate based on 9.1. Other Chinese restaurants are below 8.9 or discounted. I help you evade taxes and have to pay more, just to trick the Chinese😅 2. After taking 9.1, it was originally 782.6, but the store asked me to transfer it to 783. This is the first time in my life that I encountered a store that rounds up. 3. I wish you a prosperous business😊

in addition to our food arriving late it was very bland to say the least. We ordered salt and chilli ribs, wings and chips and really very poor. The chips were even dry inside. Very, very unlikely to order from here again.

Very extensive menu, lots of seafood options. It was hard to choose. Everything was delicious, great flavours. We had sliced spicy fish, hot and sour shredded potato, nourishing chicken soup, and spicy dry chicken (don't remember the exact name). Large portions so great to share. I already can't wait to go back, hoping to try some dongbei dishes too. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Glasgow.

The order arrived at 15.18 instead of 13.25-13.55. The food was not hot and the drinks were not cold. The rice we ordered was also not what we had ordered but something else. However the food was good but we would like a refund.

Took a while from ordering to delivery, in no part due to traffic. Absolutely worth the wait. I work regularly in Scotland and have tried many different Chinese takeaways. This is easily the best I’ve tried in Glasgow. Will definitely use again.

This is now my favorite Chinese restaurant in Glasgow. No other Chinese place in this city has drawn me back so many times. The real name is "Dongbei", referring to Northeastern China. The quality of cooking is great, the taste is authentic, and there's a wide range of flavors to choose from. Dishes are mostly £11-12/dish. I enjoy this place on balance as much as, comparing apples to oranges, the nearby La Lanterna (great service, ambience and ingredients but you pay for it) and Paesano (limited menu). Anyway, you will have a great time if you focus on the food and not the decor, and are adventurous in exploring what the kitchen specializes in, which is delicious, home style, northeastern and Sichuan cuisine -- expect punchy and spicy flavors cooked by braising, simmering, sauteing, and frying. Some dishes come in both northeastern and the more familiar Sichuan style. There are dishes based on pickled vegetables or vinegar that mix tangy and savoury, or tangy and spicy flavors, and you are unlikely to find these even in London/Manchester/Birmingham. But you will also find some Chinese/Sichuan favourites like Sichuan Boiled Fish or Fish with Pickled Mustard. If you like no frills fresh-made cooked dumplings, this is the best place in Glasgow. If you like fried chicken, they have a few styles to choose from. You will further find more than several offal dishes (e.g. large intestines, gizzards, liver, tripe). The flip side is that you should not expect southern Chinese dishes (so, no steamed dishes or clear broths) and you should probably go somewhere else for seafood, stir fried noodles, or vegetarian. If you find weird sounding dish names on the menu, consult with the proprietor. "Fragrant waist"? It's actually fatty large intestines, a delicacy for some. I would steer clear of the second half of the menu that includes the British-chinese take away dishes, because that's not the cuisine of the chef. It's actually rare to find a place with so many northeastern Chinese dishes and other northern favorites done well -- this place is a gem.

Ordered an old favourite. Deep fried King prawns in egg yolk. Totally disgusting this time. No longer traditional Chinese with heads on and shell. Just tasteless and soggy cheap prawns, to go with the tasteless rice and watery boiled tasting Peking ribs. Very, very disappointed with a restaurant I used to love.

Originally delivered the wrong meal. I phoned to let them know and it was another 20 minutes to deliver the correct meal which by this point was stone cold. When I complained the owner was extremely rude, refused to apologise and tried to claim the food couldn’t be cold even though it had been out of the restaurant for over 30 minutes. Shocking service and horrible, inedible food.

Given "Old Menu" And the bill jumped massively. Ordered 2 soft drinks (cans of irn bru and diet coke £2.50 each)..had to ask for glasses, Ordered 2 starters,ribs and mussels.. mains comes out first Szechuan beef and beef noodle soup..followed straight away by the starters.Had to ask for soy sauce..No napkins were given had to get them ourselves. Was expecting a bill of £35 it came to over £43 cash only. I only had £44 on me and gave them a 50p tip on reflection I shouldn't have given them anything and should have called the cops as I was being robbed..Old Menu my A£&E!! Two stars was for the food it was pretty good.

Terrible experience. The Northeastern cuisine pot-wrapped pork is obviously very sour because of too much vinegar, but the boss is reluctant to admit his mistakes and has a bad attitude. He knew we weren't and asked if we were from Northeast China, insisting that's what they did in Northeast China and refusing to refund. Absurd! The truth is that there is so much vinegar added that customers anywhere in the world will find it hard to swallow! I'm very disappointed with the dish and his attitude and won't be going again.

Waiting up to 1hr 20 mins (communicated on order) was pretty excessive but I decided to order anyway. When it arrives just shy of 2 hrs later and gone 10pm, that's not on. I was actually walking to buy something to eat as I'd given up on it arriving and the delivery man was 50 yards down the road on another street attempting to deliver to the wrong address. Really disappointing experience.

Their food is very authentic Chinese. The menu has variety of choices and the amount of each food are good. My favorite is char siu cuisines. Only complaint for me is that they accept cash only, so you have to trop by cash machine before you go into the restaurant.

They simply transfer the kitchen’s errors directly to the customer wallet and This is propably the only place in Glasgow where you cannot pay with card.

Some excellent dishes I've not seen outside of Shandong. Most dishes are really good, expecially the 辣子鸡丁 (chilli chicken) my only real complaint is that they use way too much sauce on their guobaorou.

Honestly, don’t waste your time and money going here. Salt and pepper chicken popcorn was literally tiny bits of batter, probably about chicken nugget worth of meat in the whole tub. Basically tub of half-rz’d spicy batter for 7 quid. Salt n pepper chips Most pathetic I’ve ever seen at a fiver complete bump. Chicken fried rice tasted of oil and oil only. Salt and chilli ribs smelled off and were immediately binned

Very disappointed with the Chinese style Kung Pao chicken. It used to be my favourite dish and the only thing I ordered. Last night it had 100s of whole schichuan peppercorns that made the dish totally inedible!! They’ve recently reopened after being shut for 2 years through the pandemic. I hope they can bring their old chef back and fix the Kung Pao!!

First time eating there tonight. Staff very pleasant but o dear - the beef and noodle dish I had was really oily, swimming in the stuff. And now it's playing havoc with the stomach. DIdn't complain as someone else was paying and didn't want to seem ungrateful - plus their own food was fine. Overall, prices generally looked on the high side for what's on offer (in very functional surroundings) - and I wasn't impressed with plastic plates. Never seem terribly hygienic to me. I hear great things about this place, staff were so very nice - but it's just not for me.

Small restaurant, but I wouldn't really describe it as cosy. Service from some members of staff is warm and attentive, from others it's cold and rude. Some members of staff wouldn't bother to speak to me, while others would refill tea for free. Menu is extensive with very authentic chinese dishes but overall is very pricey. Dumplings here a tasty, as is the sauce served alongside but with a long wait and high price, it won't be a regular thing. It's okay.
