Restaurant @ The Inn at Castledawson in Magherafelt

Lunch was average, starters were great but absolutely no atmosphere. I expected some nice Christmas decorations but just a Christmas tree and very little else. Just hadn't the ambience we expected. Disappointing experience.

Fantastic food and lovely staff. Went for a Sunday Christmas lunch in December. Very reasonably priced and the nicest Sunday dinner in mid Ulster. Will definitely not disappoint if you visit. Book though, was very busy.

Decided to try here for a change on Sunday evening, glad we did!! Staff were very helpful and friendly and I had mentioned I needed a child seat which was already at our table when we arrived. Drinks ordered and arrived soon after I ordered prawns for starters my wife had chicken wings both delicious, the child’s meal came out with starters and was also delicious (chicken goujons with skinny fries) I had the sirloin steak with chunky chips medium rare . Cooked to perfection! Well seasoned . My wife had the smashed burger and she said it was amazing, portions were so good we hadn’t room for dessert but we definitely will be back to try again. Food 10/10 service 10/10 … Also must mention the price of food and drinks are very reasonable. Very enjoyable Sunday

Had a sumptuous Sunday lunch today at The Inn, Castledawson. Started with lovely selection of breads with selection of butters, which was appreciated. My husband and I both had turkey and ham with stuffing, served with mash and selection winter veg. The turkey and stuffing were delicious and the baked ham was so tender and tasty. Beautifully presented by pleasant staff members and so enjoyable. The best turkey and ham dinner I’ve had in years, and there have been many. Daughter had braised shin of beef, tender and tasty, and again very well presented. Brother had hake (fish of the day) which he really enjoyed. We’d two starters both choosing the fish cake, and two deserts, one apple crumble and the other raspberry and champagne posset. Finished off with decaf coffees and tea. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Already looking forward to my next visit ……

We followed the Inn in Castledawson on Facebook since it went under new management , we only wish we had visited sooner Foodies, The food and service is amazing. On one of our recent visits, we brought our grandson who is 4 and who has autism, We phoned prior to our visit and they helped us with his meal plan ( even letting us bring his pasta and cooking it ). This visit we brought mum to celebrate her 90th birthday. There is everything on this menu to suit what ever occasion, from a casual meal to a special occasion. For those of you who live further a field , there is rooms for an over night stay. It’s up there with the best restaurants in Northern Ireland and it’s reasonable priced.

Meal with parents whilst on a road trip; Fish Tacos were amazing, as was the Goats cheese Salad. Highly recommend that you come this way if in the area.

My 2 friends and I always enjoyed our Sunday lunches at the Inn, and we were always warmly welcomed by John and his staff. Before the Covid restrictions, this was carvery style dining, but last time we went, a staff member fetched our choices from the carvery, although the food was still delicious, it just didn't feel the same; I like more of this and less of that, while my friends' amounts would vary. We intend returning soon to see how things are, because the food was always the best.

Visited The Inn and had a lovely meal, can’t fault it, great location, food was very good and service was spot on.It was a shame we were the only people there. The waiter assured me it wasn’t always like this and I hope this is the case as it couldn’t have made any money that night. I would highly recommend this place and encourage people to use it otherwise Mid Ulster will surely lose a good place to eat out.

No hassle food prepared , presented and delivered. A small quaint country bar in the Seamus Heaney District. A lot of history in this old Establishment.

This nice victorian town house should really draw the hungry guest or the active traveller with its Main Street setting and wonderful views over the Moyola River, made famous by Nobel Poet Seamus Heaney. Instead, it's a guessing game when it is open or closed, who owns it and whether the owner really cares about his guests, his food and his staff. A wonderful opportunity wasted!

Stayed earlier in the year as centrally located for ancestry searching. Great accessability for the whole area. Very well looked after even though the season hadn't yet started. Would certainly recommend and return.

Ate at the Inn recently at my brother's birthday party. Had the Tiger Prawn starter, very tasty and just the right amount of food. For the main, I had the fillet steak with mushrooms, French fried onions and pepper sauce, with the champ as a side. This was delicious and cooked to perfection. Food was plentiful. Didn't have the sweet as was not fit to eat anything more. Service was very good, John (owner) and staff were friendly and very helpful. I will definitely eat here again. No hesitation in recommending the Inn at Castledawson.

The Sunday carvery is very good and reasonably priced also went for an evening meal with friends and it was very good

Called in on way back from Sligo because big sign at front said carvery 12 till blank and we assumed it was open only to be embarrassed to find out it was only until 5. You would think that they would have put it on the sign.

My Mother stayed for 5 nights, as she did last year, so a return visit is a good sign of a well run hotel. Her double room at the back over looking the river was spotless, tea making facilities, television, good lighting, beautiful Italian throw over bed, she doesnt like duvets so blankets were provided. The bathroom was immaculate, fresh towels ,soap and bath products provided. You could have whatever you wanted at breakfast and John the owner brought a daily Newspaper to her room. So thank you to John and his staff for looking after my mother so well, she will be back !
