Very disappointing meal. Stopped after one course. Maybe it was the chef's day off but if so we should have been told. Only two other diners who also didn't linger. Trained waiting staff would be a bonus, the girls were very pleasant but it all felt a little amateurish.

Unfortunately for Low Wood Hall, it is neighbours with excellent pub The Strands. The only reason we ventured to Low Wood Hall was because we foolishly arrived at aforementioned pub at 8pm on Easter Sunday night without a booking (woops). On ordering the vegetarian lasagne, I was quite suprised to find it arrived served with salad, crisps and a strawberry! Despite the grand interior there were only two other diners in the place, so not even the atmosphere could compensate for the below par food on offer.

We stayed at this B&B for a short weekend break and booked into the restaurant one night. The menu was lovely with some great stuff to choose from. Also daily specials on the board in the bar. Good wine list and very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful setting with great views across the valley. I had calamari to start followed by lamb shank which was delicious. My friend had feta and basil salad followed by pork chop and apple chutney - all accompanied by fresh vegetables on the side. Wish I had stayed for a few more days to try other items on the menu! It was pretty expensive though but worth it I thought. Starters about £6, mains about £15 (£23 for steak)

Shockingly dirty for a place serving food. Chairs an absolute disgrace. Dirty, stained, marked. I'm amazed environmental health hasn't been in and told them to get them cleaned. If it was only one I could have attempted to make some sort of excuse. But it wasn't. A group of us had gone for lunch but we all decided to find somewhere else. I'm honest baffled how Dixons are getting away with it? The Terrace cafe in Workington put this place to shame. I'm amazed people were eating there. We wouldn't go back. Pictures enclosed. Zoom in guys. Truly mehhhh 🙈🤮

The Bridge cafe in Millom has a sign advising that it has temporarily closed down. To be honest, having looked through the window it doesn’t look as though it’s likely to reopen anytime soon. The Trackside on the station is a fantastic alternative.

Unfortunately yet again The Peddler has been let down by the same rude member of staff that we have dealt with a few times. We were greeted by this lady shouting from across the room asking how many seats we need. When it was explained there would be 4 adults and room for two prams the waitress looked disgusted and barely checked before telling us they couldn’t accommodate us. The restaurant was empty and there was ample room for prams around all tables. The attitude of this member of stuff is always disgraceful, and everything seems to be too much of an ask. We’ve been to The Peddler numerous times and we will not be returning which is a shame as one person has ruined the reputation. Nearly £100 spent elsewhere.

Want to be able to give it more stars :/ Nice to have a chip shop in such a small village. Easy to find, nice young woman behind the counter. As she was cooking the fish, I thought - hmm- should be now.... or now... or now. Well, so probably was, so a bit overcooked. Chips were good (glad I saw her salt/vinegar an order or 2 before mine so I could say 'no, thank you' to waaaay too much salt. Got an order of cold slaw. Ok - was a serving of mayo with some cabbage in it. Hope they consider some adjustments! Then would recommend.
