We went for dinner with high expectations, but things fell short for us. The cuisine was not particularly to our liking, so our food choices were few. Cocktails were well prepared. Our final bill was outrageous for what was served in my opinion. I would not return.

Beautiful dining rooms and wonderful staff made for a grand welcome. We had a three course menu of which looked appealing. We started off with a pork which lacked seasoning and followed up with beef cheek which was so densely compressed. It had a sponginess to it (it should have fallen away) Sadly it was rather disappointing meal. That said, as stated before the serving staff were excellent. We fed back the issue with the beef cheek and were offered a drink each as compensation.

Following our recent excellent experience with the Sunday Roast Lunch we booked a table for a celebratory Anniversary dinner. This was even better than the excellent Sunday Lunch. Isabelle had very kindly arranged a surprise for us with 2 glasses of fizz and a beautiful card awaiting our table in the beautiful and intimate blue dining room. The service was superb, friendly, warm and efficient. It commenced with two delicious and delicate pre-dinner treats being served to accompany the bubbly. The two starters which we both tasted and which were both really delicious comprised of a) seared, locally landed monkfish with pak choi in a miso corn broth and b) Ayrshire pork cheek with burnt apple puree, spelt rain and and Skye beer risotto. We accompanied our mains with a delicious South African Pinot Noir from a very extensive wine list, We both chose the Highland Beef fillet, roast swede and summer truffle cottage pie. Each element was truly delicious and the 'Sumer truffle cottage pie' was exceptional in every way. The meal was concluded with a delicious but light deserts. A really excellent and memorable evening in every respect with many thanks to Isabelle and the superb team who attended to us

Our first visit to Kinloch Lodge, for lunch, and we loved it. Friendly welcome from staff with prompt but not hurried service. We sat in a beautifully decorated small dining room, overlooking the front gardens and loch beyond. The menu was a delight, with options for small tasting plates as well as full sized mains. Highlights were the sesame toast langoustines and the venison pie, absolutely delicous. My husband thoroughly ejoyed the partridge starter and sirloin steak. Sadly we coukdn't manage desert but settled for coffees then a much needed walk around the grounds to work it all off. We were encourage to use the very cosy lounge, and it would have been very tempting to settle infront of the stove but we reluctantly left as we were driving to our hotel in Broadford but the next time we might just stay 🤞 Excellent Scottish hospitality, great menu and in beautuful surroundings, a real treat.

We were really looking forward to having a meal here. My partner had been years ago and had thoroughly enjoyed so expectations were high! The location of the hotel is breathtaking unfortunately the food is far from that standard. For starters, We both ordered the langostine ravioli which was awful! It had no taste what so ever. For the mains I had the venison, I think the meat was rotten! It had a very old taste! My partner had the veggie option, nothing to exciting as it was just a big piece of cauliflower with some sauce. The only thing we enjoyed were the desserts! My partner had the pannacota and I had the arrincini. The staff were very nice, however not staff for £75 per person meal. In fact I would not even pay £20 for what we had! The Staff did not know much about the menu and we even got asked by a very young waiter if we wanted more bread whilst we were eating our dessert - quite funny actually! Unfortunately I will not be returning back! We were completely robbed!

We were lucky enough last night to have diner at Kinloch Lodge Restaurant my friend and I. What a delight! From the first glimpse we caught of the Lodge, driving down the road along the lake, we were mesmerised. The staff there is much more than that: they make you feel like friends you have not seen in a while, happy to share their piece of heaven with you.We had drinks outside, looking at the lake, chatting to the amazing Chirsty, then we went in for dinner. From start to finish, our food was incredible, perfectly cooked and dedicatedly seasoned to bring out all the delicious flavours of the locally sourced ingredients. We want to thank all the staff there that night for making it a beautiful memory from our trip to Scotland. Alex & Pheebs

Kinloch Lodge takes you back in time in the best way possible. If you’d like to have the ‘Downton Abbey’ type of experience, but in Scotland, with incredible food and views of Skye, then you’ll love it here! It feels like walking into a grand, aristocratic home and the staff give you a warm welcome. The food is lovely and the dining room is a very cool experience, like going back in time. Would 100% recommend!

Once again, the Kinloch kitchen has knocked it out of the park. We stayed for a weekend - by husband and 9 year old twins - and managed six straight meals there. My daughter ate the langoustine macaroni and cheese four times in a row, breaking only for breakfast where she said of the scones "This is heaven. It's like cakey goodness condensed in a scone." :)Every flavour has been thought through at Kinloch and you can tell. The new dinner menu - three courses - is hearty, delicious and unpretentious while being creative and ultimately delicious. The most difficult thing was deciding what to have (luckily my husband begrudgingly agreed to share). The staff very kindly brought us room service for the children too, so my husband and I could enjoy a grown-ups dinner in the dining room. With its old portraits, candles and views of the loch, I have always said its one of my favourite places in the world. We could have eaten off the all-day menu for each meal too - highlights (besides the mac and cheese, which I'm still dreaming about) include the venison stew and moist carrot cake (blissfully sans raisins). It's also worth noting that the tables are nicely distanced and the staff are always masked; we felt very safe the entire time. You will not regret a meal at the place my son has called "The best restaurant in Scotland." Absolutely worth the trip.

Really lacking and disappointing. Not fresh or tasty. A bit sad and dreary. We heard they lost their Michelin star and can see why. Apparently the chef left and took it with him but the hotel never publicly announced it so diners kept coming under false pretences

We had an amazing two nights at Kinloch, on both nights we ate at the restaurant. The first night, I had the beetroot with a truffle custard starter which was so different and something I wouldn’t normally pick but it was outstanding. My husband had duck and short rib of beef - both locally sourced and looked and tasted beautiful. My main was deliciously cooked hake. The petit fours afterwards were the cherry on the cake (I had to actually take mine home as I was so full). Our second night was just as good. I had venison carpaccio with figs which has to have been one of the most wonderful things I have ever tasted. My husband had the beef Wellington and as a farmer he loves his beef - he was not disappointed. The staff were charming and attentive. They looked after us and we were made to feel very at home. What we also loved was that it wasn’t stuffy, the restaurant was warm and friendly and the food outstanding.

Myself and my partner booked Kinloch Lodge restaurant for my birthday dinner last weekend and what a disappointment it was. We booked Kinloch hoping for a special, up market experience and were disappointed from the moment we arrived. We entered the hotel and there was no one there to welcome us, we then had to find someone ourselves after checking in two different rooms which wasn't a great start. The cocktails were nice but nothing special especially when they cost £15 each. We immediately noticed the stained carpets and old furniture which felt like a run down version of Soho House. During the current climate of Covid-19 I would also expect to see surfaces being cleaned regularly but I witnessed guests coming in and out of the room nothing being cleaned in between which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. However, the menu looked inviting so we continued to have an open mind. The starter came and sadly it was the most bland thing we've ever eaten, we took two mouthfuls and put our knife and fork down- the waitress apologised but never offered to take the dish off the bill. The main came and was underwhelming - it looked the part but again was bland. The dessert came and what was meant to be a deconstructed pear crumble in-fact was a hollowed out hard half a pear with runny cream in it, the pavlova had a unappetising blob of marmalade on top that I can only assume was out of a jar. Needless to say we took two mouthfuls and didn't finish the rest. Again the waitress apologised but didn't offer to take the dishes off the bill. When we did receive the bill only two dishes were removed and we had to ask for the 3 dishes to be removed. Kinloch Lodge markets itself as a high end, premium establishment and this may have been the case in the past but not anymore. If it continues to serve mediocre food, charging £75 per person in an interior that is tired, I can only imagine more complaints being made leading to less guests and less business. I hate to write a review like this during such a difficult time but my partner and I saved up for this birthday meal and felt extremely cheated. I'd strongly advise not visiting.

It was an easy hours drive from our hotel in the capital to the Kinloch Lodge which stands on its own at the head of the most beautiful tranquil Scottish sea loch. The whole place felt quite cosy and inviting, everyone that served us were very hospitable with genuine smiles. Local fare throughout our menu but we weren't over impressed with our dinners which were rather unexciting in their composition. The pasta in my main course was too thick and consequently undercooked. It's a little hairy driving back in the dark until you find the main road but that added a little excitement for my chauffeur of the evening.

Then two sinfully tempting puddings. Excellent coffee and house wine. We drove away feeling extremely pleased with life. We shall both certainly be back.

This meal was supposed to be a top quality final farewell to an 8 day tour of Scotland. It was booked on the basis that the restaurant had a great reputation for excellent food using fresh local ingredients. The food was average, at best. Our group had a mix of duck rillettes and scallops to start. I had rillettes which were bland, the poached egg was cold, and it all lacked a lot of seasoning. It looked pretty but that was about all could be said. The scallop dish was completely overpowered by an onion tart and I was told it was very unpleasant. My main of halibut was verging on over cooked and bland again. The cream veloute was nice, the fennel good, but again it was all cold and under seasoned. The double chocolate panna cotta had some nice components, but the main dark chocolate panna cotta wasn't that. It was a firm mouse. One of our party had mouldy "fresh Nairn raspberries". The Lemon Meringue tart contained no lemon, and the meringues were questionably not home made. A lot of this could be excused if:1. It wasn't as expensive as it was - the food did not justify £75pp at all; and2. The service was acceptable. The service wasn't just unacceptable, it was non-existent and diabolical. We had to pour our own wines after the first pour. Glasses weren't removed throughout the meal. We had to pass our own plates around the table. We were in a private room and were basically forgotten about. Very unprofessional and not what you would expect from the place given the price and reputation. Finally, how the hotel thinks it can justify the price of drinks is beyond me. We had 1.5 bottles of nice, fairly priced wine, to be fair to KL. Other than that, the drinks prices were astronomical. London prices in a remote location (without the stunning view to match, from our tiny dining room). Ridiculous.I won't ever return (despite wanting to get back to beautiful Skye asap), and I couldn't dream of recommending anyone to return here. Mr Tully needs to get a grip back on what I understand was once a lovely place to dine.

We had been looking forward to Kinloch Lodge as it was booked for the last night of our trip to Skye. We had to sit in one of their private dining rooms as we were a party of 8 which was not a problem. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired and at £114pp with one person not drinking, it felt like a sharp price to pay. There was little choice on a limited menu which didn't fully describe the dishes. I had the scallop starter which turned up with a thick layer of caramalised onions and a garlic/olive tomato type sauce, both of which were awfully overpowering (i could still taste them the next day). I followed with the rabbit and meatball which was completely different to the menu with a large round of marrow on it. The rabbit was cooked fine but marrow wasn't even warm, let alone cooked. The rest was under seasoned and bland. Desert however was worst of all - lemon meringue pie. 2 shop bought meringues with a tasteless cream and some old fruit on top. No flavor of lemon at all. Other guests had MOLDY fruit on their panna cotta!? Away from the food, the service was non existent. We were totally forgotten about in the private room and you could tell that the staff had little to no experience at all with waiting in what is supposed to be a fine establishment. Over all very lazy and frustrating. Finally, the price. £114 per person with only 1 and a half bottles of wine and a few cocktails is unacceptable. £16 for a cocktail is a bit steep in London, let a lone Skye. All in all, we'd had better meals (both food and service) in some lovely pubs in Scotland. I wouldn't return to Kinloch Lodge for any reason.

We had been looking forward to dinner at Kinloch Lodge for some time as had heard good reports. I don’t know if things have deteriorated since then as the food was nowhere near as good as expected. Having recently eaten in Restaurant Andrew Fairlie (expensive but excellent) and Bilson Eleven (same price for tasting menu which was exceptional)the 3 course menu (and coffee) is way overpriced at £75. The venison starter was nice, very nicely cooked but under seasoned. The hake main course was well cooked but all in all underwhelming. It was smothered in a buttery sauce which is not really my cup of tea. Dessert was a bog standard creme brûlée with a orange biscuit which didn’t taste of anything let alone orange. It was all quite a rushed affair with the staff setting up for the next morning as we were having coffee. There was nothing of note to complain about at the time. It’s just not worth the money. The one saving grace was the young serving staff who were delightful. The Lodge itself is impressive.

Dined here while on holiday to celebrate my partner's birthday. We were not staying at the hotel. Staff were all friendly and unfussy, which made us feel very relaxed despite the grand appearance of the dining room. Our food was delicious, we both had lobster to start. I really enjoyed my salmon and scallop main, and my partner loved his dish which I think was lamb. The coconut tart for dessert was good, and my partner enjoyed the cheese board. Portion sizes were spot on. The after dinner treats with coffee were a nice touch, as was having coffee in the lounge overlooking the beautiful grounds.I only had one issue with the meal, which was that our wine wasn't that cold when it was brought to the table. Clearly there's not a bottle of every wine in the fridge at all times, but it was slightly disappointing given the high standards in the rest of the meal. Once it had cooled in the cooler (by glass 2!) it was delicious.

We were really looking forward to our dinner at Kinloch Lodge and were quite excited since we had read good things. Unfortunately we were left really disappointed. 1) The food was nothing special, two of our dishes were extremely salty so much so that I couldn’t finish mine as it was just a salty paste. 2) 75 pounds for a set menu is quite expensive and you would expect a certain standard (we paid around 60-80 pounds every night in Scotland but in places that were 100% worth it - this unfortunately was not). 3) The waiters were not professional and the mood didn’t feel like a gourmet restaurant.

We’ve been to Kinloch a few times now, and decided to book up when it opened again in line with Phase 3 of Covid-19 management in Scotland. It was bound to be different, but a warm welcome letter and welcoming smiles behind the masks of the staff greeted our arrival, and we settled down to a fantastic dinner. Yes, it was different, with some changes to keep social contact to a minimum, and there were clearly infection control measures in place - but Kinloch still very much has the cozy luxuriant feel we know and love.

Enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu with matching wine flight, which was brought to life by our charismatic somellier. Scallops, foam veloute, fillet steak, thai trout and brie with prunes showcased the kitchen's talents and were all demolished within seconds. Very well matched with reisling, malbec, grenache and dessert wines. While the salmon and crab plate was nice, both it and the chocolate dessert required some re-work. Minor gripes aside, very good dinner made better by our 3YO son's rare steak salad (whose presentation and taste were great). There scotch selection is world class and fairly priced. If I had a complaint it was the venison which was fairly strong and lean, but plated wonderfully and still enjoyable, the rest of the courses where spot on. On arrival we were informed that it was traditional Sunday lunch that was being served, for the winter months - three courses for £45! On stating that we were disappointed with the menu choices - it appeared to be basic food which could have been served in any pub.. prawn cocktail - lamb roast - apple pudding we were informed that the courses were larger. We did not come for large portions but for the wow factor which was sadly missing. The food was actually very good but just very basic cuisine and not value for money.

The car park is gravel (as is everywhere it seems in Skye) so tricky for a wheelchair, my recommendation is to park at the top by the wheelchair slope for ease. The slope to get into the building is very easy, and whilst this is an old building with narrow hallways the wheelchair got around ok. I would recommend the ladies toilet for the wheelchair, as it was much larger than the men's, had a high level toilet with large lever to flush, a small accompanying sink and plenty of space, but no grab rails. The men's toilet was much smaller.

Dinner at the lodge is a very elaborate event. We started with a welcome and cocktails in the bar where we reviewed the menu and selected our wine for dinner from a very extensive wine list. First place we encountered a few Napa wines. We selected a very nice Bordeaux. After we chose the seven course dinner and they prepared our table we were escorted into the dinning room. Chef Tully then prepared an elaborate seven course meal That was exploratory for me and quite nice. Included were pigeon breast, butternut squash soup, prawns, scallops, venison fillet, wonderful goat cheese and a nice finishing desert. My description here does not give justice to the meal, it was very good. Pricing was a little high at 95 pounds but worth it based on the chefs efforts and wonderful presentation. Can not possibly dine here again tonight due to the volume of great food. Will look for something light and local tonight. Kudos to chef Tully! Service was also extraordinary and attention to detail was wonderful. The staff also knows their wine and Josh, in particular was very willing and able to answer any questions about the lodge or the history of the location.

This is a reliable must. Knowledgeable and welcoming staff. A good range on the menu. An idyllic setting in a sheltered loch with a background of singing cuckoos. Splendid venison. A sumptuous chocolate desert. Many added extras before, after and during the lunch.

After reading all the reviews about Kinloch Lodge we felt we were in for real fine dining treat. From start to finish we found the whole experience rather average and slightly disappointing. The food was nice but there really was no WoW factor either in the presentation or in the flavours. The service was fine but again, the attention we received was really no different to any reasonably priced restaurant and none of the attention to detail we would expect in high end restaurant was apparent. All in all, we felt it wasn't worth the money. Maybe it just wasn't for us.

From entering the Lodge to leaving was a delight. Made to fell very welcome in the bar before moving to a roaring fire for drinks and nibbles. Taken through the menu and wine and our expectations were exceeded when we sat down for dinner.

Visited for birthday celebration once again. The food was the best ever. Great menu offering a range of tastes. Every course from the amuse bouche, through the following 5 courses was beautifully presented and cooked with finesse. The service from all the staff was excellent. Professional, efficient yet friendly and relaxed which helped create a wonderful ambience. A brilliant experience which I look forward to repeating whenever we have a celebration.

Great menu. Fresh, seasonal and local meals. Kids friendly but ask about the cost of kids meals first. We took a main plate for our son and it was very costly for what he had in comparison to what we paid for our full course meal. If you go for a kids meal, like pasta, it’s quite reasonable. Great service. Ask not to sit at the table next to the kitchen doors, as it’s slightly distracting during your meal. Plus, there is a speaker right next to this table which makes having a conversion a bit more of a challenge. Other than that, it was the best meal we had during our stay in Scotland.

We stayed here whilst on honeymoon and it didn’t disappoint. We’d heard great things about Kinloch Lodge so decided to experience it for ourselves, staying one night DBB. Our room was really well presented and very comfortable. The staff were professional, helpful and made us feel warmly welcome. Our meal consisted of the chef’s tasting menu and was simply superb. It showcased the cuisine of Skye and Scotland brilliantly and will live long in the memory. Would highly recommend a visit.

(we have a suggestion for the chef: If the customers are Italian, do not propose pasta (we have accepted for our daughter) because it is not at all up to the high cuisine you offer.)

This is a Michelan rated restaurant, and whilst a little expensive, the food is outstanding. Full marks to the chef! When it comes to the wines, whilst the wine list offers a good range, the prices are loaded, presumably because of the remote location and because you are captive. This is a shame, because the food , staff and environment is outstanding , but you feel that you are being taken advantage of. Ignoring value for money, overall it was a wonderful evening.

The last time we were in Skye we tried the Three Chimneys as our special holiday treat. This holiday we decided the Kinloch Lodge was the place to go for lunch. We were absolutely delighted with our experience. The staff are wonderfully courteous and helpful. As requested we arrived 30 minutes ahead of our time slot and we were shown into the lounge which is lovely and comfortable with a stunning view - all the guests talking in hushed tones, marvellous. Once we’d chosen our meals we’re brought a couple of nibbles which were very tasty. 15 minutes later and we’re escorted into the dining room and the event starts. A delicate amuse bouche is brought to our table with layer upon layer of sensational tastes. Then we were brought a soupçon of soup which had glorious flavours some of which we recognise but just can’t think what they are. My wife decided to take the wine flight which is a great idea and proves to be great value and very informative as each wine is presented together with the reason why it’ll be most suitable for the course being eaten. We both chose the seafood starters and main course and they are really, really superb. Every mouthful a sensation. A dessert to share and then a lingering coffee in the lounge completes our glorious lunch. All in all I can’t recommend the Kinloch highly enough. We were there nearly three hours and felt right at home (if only we could replicate the cooking at home). This excellent value for money and not to be missed.

Great food, beautiful location, masterful service. The restaurant and the lodge were the highlight of a week long trip to Scotland. The breakfast porridge was extraordinary. Classy, elegant and formal, deserves to Michelin starred for 3 reasons: 1) food -- we had a 5-course dinner with butternut squash, squab/pigeon, scallops, beef fillet and dessert; 2) service -- efficient given 5 courses, canapes and amuse-bouche, plus wait staff wore white gloves a la Downton Abbey; 3) fantastic views of the loch on a sunny night. Preceded by a pre-dinner, beautiful lounge sitting, where we had drinks and ordered dinner. The lounge featured, among other things, a letter from Winston Churchill and a note from King George V; the dining room had a portrait of Flora MacDonald. Expensive but worth every pence.

We had a lovely meal here earlier this week. The welcome and service was superb. The view would have been great, but unfortunately due to the rare appearance of the sun other diners needed the curtains closed as it was shining right at them. We had phoned ahead with our dietary requirements (no fish) and had specially prepared menus for us. We were delighted with everything we had, although it was a bit short of vegetables, but this is Scotland! Enjoyed meeting other guests in the drawing room and trying not to laugh at the American's who had enjoyed their line caught scallops.

We have eaten at great restaurants all over the world. Lunch at Kinloch Lodge is right up there with the finest meals we have had anywhere. Starters (scallops with crab and monkfish with pork medallion) and, especially, the mains (venison and cod with smoked mussels) were all exquisitely prepared with balanced, interesting sauces. Wine list is thorough with some unusual choices. We had a dry Hungarian tokaji that paired very well with the food. If you find yourself on the Isle of Skye, you owe it to yourself (or your significant other) to book a meal here.

An excellent way to learn from a great chef. In Marcello's live working kitchen, surrounded by his staff preparing for the day ahead, we learned how to make some of the recipes from his book. We had his undivided attention for the morning and got to pick his brains and have a go too. A truly unique experience and we felt privileged to be there. The famous Kinloch hospitality, extends to behind the scenes too, and we highly recommend it.

Our daughter celebrated her 30th birthday while vacationing with us on the Isle of Skye and we wanted to give her the royal treatment! The Restaurant at Kinloch Lodge was perfect for the occasion and we spent an unusually wonderful warm, clear evening at the Lodge. Our party was hosted in the private dining room - ideal for our group of 7 plus two small children. The staff were attentive yet unobtrusive. Our meal featured well prepared and presented local fish, game and traditional Scottish fare. The wine selection was quite extensive and with the sommelier’s guidance found the perfect pairings.

This restaurant has a beautiful setting in a lovely country house with lovely views over Skye from the Dining Room and the Drawing Room. On arrival we were shown to the Drawing Room where we were served with pre dinner canapes and given the menu to decide from their Tasting Menu or a Set Menu with a Main course choice and a Dessert choice. All the table has to take the same menu. This is Fine Dining at its best. Great service and great food were served to all at our table. I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
