Republic Bier Halle in Glasgow City

Came here for lunch after travelling and walking. It was warm and cosy although it was very dark, maybe nicer for evenings and just drinks. Not so much lunch time hours. I or ordered pizza as well as fries that I shared with my friend. They were extremely over salted making them nearly uneatable. Between us we finished them to keep us going for the rest of our travels.

If you Happen to Visit Glasgow don’t miss visiting this Bar. Foods are so Delicious and it’s my first time to try their Haggis Pizza which I really love. They also have different kind of international beers and drinks, so what are you waiting for! Come visit the place 😍

What an amazing bar, came up from London and was recommended it by Matt (Putney pies). Had the tandoori pizza and wow that is a must try. One of the best pizza I’ve had and also the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Definitely will be back

Were in the guest garden. Beer served in a plastic cup. You cannot order from the waiter, only via QR code and internet. To do this, an email address must be provided. I'm curious how much advertising I'll be bombarded with now. It will probably be our only visit there.

The beer and food were both fantastic. The staff were nice, it does feel more like a basement bar than a beer hall though

Refused entry as i had a large camera. Explained i was taking photos around the city and was going in for a beer. Went to another bar.

Not allowed in as had a large camera. Yes i too am someone who see’s such reviews and assumes there must be more. He must have been part of a stag, must have been doubled over drunk, sadly not. Anyways went to another bar who don’t have a camera size policy 😅.

Went here for some food and drinks before one of the scotland games. Now looking back on it we wished we stayed for the whole evening. Best beer selection in the city centre and food was decent at reasonable prices. Hoping to return in the future.

This bar is nothing short of a disgrace and deserves closed down. Glasgow licensing should be looked at their dubious practices. Sat outside with friends, told to sit anywhere. Tried to order drinks. Told no cash ok hate this practice but fair enough. Tried to pay by card, nope not that either!!! Can only buy by using a QR code. Ok friend had an App so used that, we had three rounds. I know pints expensive I accept that but to charge you a service charge for the bar staff bringing you a drink is total disgrace. Even worse they add another charge for sitting outside. Two different charges on top of your drink. I really hope places like this shut down. They are totally fleecing customers with practices more suited to gangsters. No signage to tell you of these charges. No staff telling you, just hope you buy and fleece you. I have emailed the licensing to see if this is legal.

Great food! Awful service by waiters and bouncers, makes you feel unwelcomed and a burden. Also, if I am to be served by a waiter I have to walk to the bar to call over after 30 minutes of waiting at my table, I would not like to pay before my food is served, thank you.

Denied entry as part of a “large group” of 5 people by the door. So yeah, avoid if you’re part of a group I guess. Your money isn’t welcome here.

Stood waiting for about 5 minutes behind another group before one of the 6 members of staff at the bar said we could sit anywhere we liked. Waited at the bar for a further five minutes before I was refused service and sent back to order from a qr code while 6 member of staff had a jolly. The chaps next to us went up to the bar and ordered, receiving their beer before us without being sent back to their table to order via a convoluted qr code system. We tried again to order from the bar after the other chap was successful but again were sent away despite 6 members of staff enjoying each other's company rather than being particularly busy. I used to like this place.

THE BEST BEER IN TOWN WELL DONE GUYS

We probably just came to the Bier Halle with the wrong expectations. What is often mentioned here and I can only confirm is the lack of choice, especially of German beers, or I didn't understand the concept. I would like to see a larger selection of draught beers under these names and, if possible, a German beer. We thought the selection of snacks to go with the beer was pretty cool. The service was also great.

Joyful , First Time For A While , Even Ordered A Furstenberg , Hotdog Was Good , Highly Recommended .

Fantastic range of beers, especially wheat beers which can be hard to find. Food was great, the pizza’s were really nice, lovely and thin and crisp, and their special pizza which had hot dogs on it was brilliant. Great atmosphere inside and out.

They have all the classics such as Kwak, Delirium Tremens, and La Chouffe. Be ready to pay a premium for them though. Lovely staff. WiFi password is on the front of menu. There is no signal.

I came here on a Friday evening and had mostly female services/runners, everything was great! Friday crew rocked. I came back on Sunday, and was seated quickly, but when it came to ordering, male server told me I had to pay for everything as I ordered, ok not a problem. Not how it happened on Friday but deal. I can do that. Female runner came right out with my beer..like she had been waiting for someone to order this! Awesome! Such great service like last time. However, I told the server that I wasn't ready for a food order just yet so I imagined he would come back in 5 mins or ever at some point. It's currently 20-30 minutes later and I haven't seen a soul. No one, no server, no waiter, not a person to help me. I thought I could wave someone down...but I'll just assume they "didn't see me" very hit or miss on this place. But they missed on this round!

As draught selections go for Beers / Lagers, there’s not many places in Glasgow that match this business! We were on a mixture of Madri, Birra Moretti and the House Lager, staying for a couple of pints each. Around £6.00 per pint - not overly expensive for the Merchant City area. Seated in the underground bar, I was a big fan of the dark, stone walls and the dimmed lighting! ‘The Shining’ was playing on the television as well - what more could you ask for?! The food menu looked decent and I’m definitely keen to head back at some point for a meal. The Beer Garden extends beyond Gordon Street and Buchanan Street - in the spring / summer it’s a very popular location! Always busy when I pass. This is an ideal hot spot for any occasion - we were lucky enough to get a seat but I’d recommend booking ahead, for any time after 5pm from Thursday to Saturday.

I just arrived to Glasgow and wanted to have a drink. As a foreigner, i had only big notes from the bank and handed one to the bar tender who was not happy at all. After getting that beer down asked for another one having now ten pound note from exchanges from the first one. Again, very arrogant attitude from that man. He throw coins to me for no reason for such a behavior. I finished the second beer and left the place for good and won’t ever go back to Bier Halle in Glasgow. Found a nearby Drouthy’s with friendly staff and laughing athmosphere.

Didn't get any food here but it lolled nice. The range of beers was great, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was pretty cool. Worth a visit if you like beers and ales

My first time here and I highly recommend it for the selection of beers. Nice food too although I was there for the beer primarily and only had some chips. Nevertheless attentive helpful staff made the visit a very enjoyable one

Comfortable and casual, Bier Halle has been around for decades and is proof that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Pizza, beer and hot dogs. Winner. On a rainy lunchtime on Tuesday it was packed. Lunch for under £10 in 2023 is indeed a rare find. If you’re looking for somewhere to have a light bite and a chat you can do a lot worse.

Never had a bad time here. Always make a point of stopping in when we're in Glasgow. Foods pretty good. The wings are fantastic. Huge selection of beers too. You won't be disappointed.

Wings, Pizza, Beer... What's not to love?

Great spot for a wide range of beers from all over the world. Was nice to have a menu which explained the places where the beers all came from and tasting notes. The Belgium beer selection was my favourite! The atmosphere was lively and vibrant. Although we didn't try the food it all looked excellent so will definitely be back to try in the future!

Greeted by pleasant staff member who went away to ask if dogs were allowed. Unfortunately after asking a couple of other staff she returned to inform us they do not allow dogs. So can't give a star rating as we did not stay. Concrete floor was a bit industrial so not sure why dogs not allowed especially as all German bars in Germany do allow dogs . Unfortunately the guide we used which stated this pub was dog friendly were perhaps unaware this is mainly a dining establishment .

I'm Italian and love a good pizza but my personal preference is thin and crispy pizza... I wouldn't have imagined that the most delicious pizza I've eaten in Glasgow would be in a beer house but here I am writing a review to recommend it 😆 My choice of topping was goats cheese and vegetables but margherita was also great. I'm a teetotal so I can't review the drinks but my friends were very happy with them lol

Great to revisit this legendary bar/restaurant after many many years. So glad to see they’re still serving up great food, at very reasonable prices with a super friendly vibe.

Only had beer so can't comment on food but this place is an absolute gem! Underground felt just like being in Brugge again, lovely staff and an amazing selection of beer!

We were sitting on the nice terrace, sipping a pint and sharing a pizza. Pizza was nice, with hot honey on it. The ordering online process was easy and they accommodated my requests too. Great service.

Table of 6 of us in for their 2 for1 pizza offer on a Monday. We all thought the pizzas were delicious, crispy base, lots of toppings and great value. Huge range of bottled beer but my husband would have liked to have seen a couple of local beers on tap too. Staff friendly and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again.

Why would you need my phone number and email address to order to my table? Shameless data gathering by making you scan a QR code to order online. Also seen the waitress mouthing obsenities to herself after another table politely questioned their drinks order. Cost me almost £9 for a pint and a half pint fruit juice full of ice.

Great venue. Intimate seating or tables for larger groups. Table service for drinks and food. Great choice of beers and food to match. Deep fried pickles are a must!

Spent a couple of hours in Bier Halle on Saturday 22nd. Served by Ewan and he couldn’t have been more helpful. Explained all of our beer options and took our food order. Outstanding service!..

One of the best bars in Glasgow. Always popular, with good reason. A massive selection of European beers (although need to add Erdinger), and the food is also very good. The atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly.

Friday, sun shining, pay day arrived - only one thing for it, a ‘working’ lunch before the weekend! We wandered along to Gordon Street and found Bier Halle, taking our seat in one of two outside seating areas. I ordered the Hot Dog & Chips, accompanied by a pint of Draught Coke. Nicely presented good food, with a decent portion size to go with it. Just under £10 for the lot - not too bad given the city centre location. The atmosphere was great - the weather playing a big part in dragging people out and about. Could easily have set there all afternoon (thankfully sticking to soft drinks before I got a ‘taste for it’). Will most definitely visit again!

Food is nice but they’ve got rid of their 241 pizzas and now only offer it on Monday which is pretty rubbish , i’ll not go as often. Also charge you like £3.50 to sit outside as a pavement charge!

It's a bit too automated for me. Had to wait a bit for the drinks as well. However, a great selection of ales.

Ordered a couple of beers, fries, hotdog and their version of a charcuterie board and it was soooo good. The cheese fondue that came with the board was so moreish and if they’d have bottled it, I’d have bought a truck load. Very good value for money and filling. Sun is out and though we’re sat in the shade it’s a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend

Went for the beers and decided to get a pizza to share. My husband and I were blown away. Best pizza we’ve ever had (and we’ve had ALOT of pizza) highly recommend.

Just popped in for drinks with friends. Really nice bouncer at the door, and the bar staff were terrific. Enormous beet selections, and the Guinness was sublime. The go to place if you are in town.

The Selection of Biers are outstanding.. Fűrstenberg & Warsteiner being my favourite. Pizzas are good! however far too much ingredients on them.. as you pick the slice up the weight of the heavily applied ingredients slide off.. The ingredients are of good quality and taste great but just far too much on the pizza. I personally like the thin crispy base. 7.8/10 The Rubber Man 🍕🍻

Been going to this place for years now. Great food (esp the pizza), great atmosphere and a fabulous beer selection. Right in the city centre too not far from the train station. Place not to be missed.
