Red Restaurant 红餐厅 in Manchester

My husband and I went there last Sunday. We had hotpot buffet plus 2 hot tea for about 60 ish gbp in total. The service, staff and food were great. We will definitely go back there again.

Super delicious hotpot with unlimited options! Reasonable prices - you can also choose from the good variety of sauces along with the types of hotpot soup bases. The owner is super friendly and the aunties are happy to chat and give recommendations :) highly recommend!!

We ordered chicken and green pepper I black bean sauce , lamb with cumin x2 and shredded beef sauce with the fried rice. The proteins could be counted in the food more loaded with vegetables than actual protein. The meals were ok as per taste . I ordered house special fried rice and I didn’t see one pork, the shrimps were just not it . Overall I nor my friend will have lunch but I may try their bbq. Also they are quite pricey . We spent £160 for 4people for a single course meal

The best Chinese restaurant in Manchester. Food is absolutely delicious and service is very warm and welcoming. Everyone in the restaurant were super friendly to us. We can feel the authentic taste in every dish we had. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who visit Manchester to try this hidden gem 💎

Extremely hospitable, excellent served Chinese restaurant. Very centralised location. Not very expensive. The egg fried rice was delicious. Schezwan pork was just a bit too oily to be. However tasted good.

Visited for the first time yesterday afternoon and what an incredible find. Had the bbq menu where the food was cooked at the table by the loveliest lady who is actually the owner. All staff so friendly and helpful and food is fantastic. Had to leave sooner than we would have liked as we were going to a show and the time had ran away with us but we plan to return very soon and enjoy the whole experience again.

Food ok. I expected better. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a station bar. Tables are peeled, chairs need to be replaced. Service: we came to eat dinner with children. There were no hangers, so it took a few minutes before the kids and I undressed and put our jackets somewhere. At that time, there was a service gentleman with a card. We are neither Chinese-speaking nor English-speaking, it was our first time. As soon as we sat down and took the card in our hand, we were served for the second time. In a moment 3... One was leaving, the other was coming. It was very stressful. We ordered dishes, and while we were eating there were about 3 people there. The waiter should have intuition

Visited Red Restaurant this evening with my partner and the food exceeded our expectations. Such wonderful Chinese and Szechuan cuisine and the owners are super lovely and welcoming. The portions were very generous and the food was very authentic. Simply lovely and we will definitely be returning. Thank you for a fantastic evening.

Wonderful restaurant right opposite the Premier Inn we stayed in which also meant keeping warm and dry! The service was brilliant, they really took the time to make sure were were well taken care of. Food was excellent, shame we couldn't try more of it....hopefully next time! Shame we couldn't stay for the New Year celebration on Sunday! Will definitely return if in Manchester again, thank you.

This is hands down the best hotpot restaurant I’ve been to in the UK! The broth is absolutely delicious both the spicy and non-spicy options are packed with rich, well-balanced flavors. The service is beyond perfect, with the owner and staffs being incredibly friendly and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. If I could, I’d rate this place 6 out of 5! Highly recommend!!

The service is 100/100. The staffs are friendly and trying to help you as much as they can. The atmosphere is quite quiet and private. The food is so gooddddd. Recommend the buffet and love everything here <3

Food was okay albeit a little bit on the saltier end. The double cooked pork had a better execution than the mapo tofu. The service from the staffs was fantastic!

Lovely. The menu seems to divide into a traditional Chinese takeaway section and a more traditional Chinese one. (I think). We went for old favourites and they were all nice. Starter soups with prawns and tofu in them, duck, beef with black beans and salt and pepper prawns - which were nice for the white pepper kick instead of chili. Staff were warm and attentive and there was a lovely Chinese New Year vibe. We left with a warm feeling.

Travelling on my own for work and with good luck walked into Red’s for dinner. Food was exceptional - I was recommended to have Schezuan Pork by the waiter with steamed rice and it was exceptional! I was given some chilli oil alongside the dish which was also brilliant. Great friendly service and even better food.

We tried Buffet Hot Pot, £28.8 /pax. Tasted good, 7-8/10. Service was fantastic. Spacy restaurant and we have "space" to move around. Nice ambient.

Great service we opted for the Hot Pot and the whole group loved it - massive amounts of food and a really delicious broth to cook it in ! Want to go back soon and try the BBQ !

It was really delicious! They were always friendly and asked what I needed so I had a comfortable meal! Still, I went to this restaurant because it was the most similar food from a Korean perspective, and it was a great experience.

The cantonese dishes are better than the szechuan food. Claypot rice was delicious with crispy rice at the bottom! Loved the soup, was definitely piping hot and warmed us up. Loved the 2 chicken dishes we ordered, savoury and a good level of spice

Absolute gem of a restaurant 😍 the food was very delicious and just perfectly spiced. I love Sichuan Chinese food and it was on of the best. On top of that the staff is lovely. We went with our baby and they provided a place to change baby and put her to sleep.

Easily the best Chinese in Manchester. I have been going to this restaurant for several years now and there is a reason I keep coming back! The food is absolutely delicious every single time and I always leave feeling satisfied with a warm and happy stomach. I love the spicy food and recommend anyone with a taste for spice to try the spicy dishes such as Mapo tofu and Boiled fish in chili oil. Even so, the non-spicy food is to die for with their delicious garlic green beans and newest addition of clay pot dishes. Not only that, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Even in my first visit 4 years ago I tried the BBQ for the first time. The staff were very helpful and guided me through the process, being on hand to explain what to do and have a chat. That same atmosphere stands today where you will be greeted with warm smiles and be well looked after. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem and I would recommend everyone to try this restaurant!

If you like spicy Sichuan food this is the place you must try. We’ve been to a few Chineses restaurants and this is the best. Nice and clean, friendly staff and the food was amazing.

I try to look for two things when choosing a Chinese restaurant - how many people are eating there (it was certainly busy) and what proportion appear to be Chinese (100%). So on those measures, can't fault it. Food was also excellent and great atmosphere!!

It took 30 minutes for drinks to arrive (after a prompt) and 40 more minutes for our food. And, when the food arrived they had run out of seaweed and then sent us 2 meals that we hadn’t ordered. We reduced the bill accordingly but it was such a shame as the food, when it arrived was lovely.

Took over an hour to get the food. The appetizer came after the main course. Got beer that had expired. It was drafty cold when we had to sit next to the front door. The acoustics in the room were poor. None of the waiters had control over what was ordered on the table, and several dishes were delivered to the wrong table.

We ordered food and drinks. Waited for an hour and a half before we got part of our food. Took about an hour before everybody got their food, we were a party of 6. The noise was unbearable, and many complaints on missing food also from the other tables. Beer had an expired date, we got new ones for free. Food was good, but the waiting time made this a pretty miserable experience. A lot of mixup with the food, felt sorry for the people working there, as the logistics departement was obviously on vacation somewhere else. Good food for good prices, but expect waiting times beyond anything else I’ve experienced.

The best flavored eggplant in Manchester!

Really great restaurant in the centre of Manchester. Super authentic Chinese food. We loved in particular the cumin lamb and chilli aubergine dishes. They do a great lunch menu too.

There have been a lot of discounts recently, especially the lunch set which has noodles for 8.8 pounds and the buy one get one free frozen lemon tea. The claypot rice is also available for half price for the second portion, and there are also various box lunch sets, which are very cost-effective and delicious. The store is also very clean!

The claypot rice here is really amazing! The rice is full of aroma, and the crispy rice has just the right aroma. You can't stop after taking one bite. The ingredients are fresh and rich, and the cured meat blends perfectly with the rice, which is simply a treat for the taste buds. The store also thoughtfully provides a rich selection of sauces, so you can adjust your favorite flavor with every bite. The service is also very attentive and the environment is clean and comfortable. I will definitely come back and highly recommend it to friends who like authentic claypot rice!

The vegetarian set menu is one of the most absurdly good value meals you can get in Manchester. The service was also lovely!

It was a cold and riany evening when we decided to visit Red Restaurant. The setting was perfect for our meal, as the hot pot was exactly what we needed to feel warm and comforted from the cold outside. The owners of the restaurant were very friendly and also offered some food and tourist recommendations around Manchester. They were very attentive throughout the service. We ended up chatting with them at the end of the meal sharing travel and life experinences. The food itself was perfect. We ordered the hot pot with a mild pork soup and a hot sichuan pepper-chilli soup. We experiemented with a few accompaniment combinations and enjoyed every bit of it. I would highly recommend having the aloe vera juice if going for the hot soup as it is the perfect contrast to the sichuan pepper corn flavour. I can't recommend this palce enough for anyone who wishes to have a delicious comforting meal at a very affordable price. Will visit again when we travel to Manchester next.

It was the most delicious food I had in England!! The shrimp in the shrimp fried rice were plump and the marinara menu items were spicy, so it was great to eat with rice! I highly recommend it~ There is a menu that contains cilantro, so if you don't like it, Please tell me to remove it in advance!

We’ve just had a wonderful experience at Red Restaurant. Red offers authentic Chinese cuisine be it your Cantonese regulars such as sweet n sour chicken etc to genuine Szechuan delights. You can have food cooked it the kitchen or cook it yourself on a tabletop BBQ or hotpot. The service was so friendly and helpful led by the irrepressible Aisha. We were encouraged to ask lots of questions about the food and were offered guidance in styles, cooking techniques available and prices and quantities to order. We had steamed dumplings with vinegar to start. Delicious melt in the mouth with the sourness of the vinegar contrasting well with the dumplings. There was a bit of a wait for the mains. I readily recommend the cumin lamb. I’d never seen this before and it was delicious. We also had a tasty KungPo (sp?) chicken which was we too enjoyed. Accompaniments were steamed rice and fried vermicelli with onions. Washed down with a couple of bottled beers and a glass of red. As well as the service and food being of high order we loved the atmosphere. I think Red call it “straightforward “ and it is certainly unpretentious. It’s not your “usual” (dare I say gaudy?) Chinese restaurant with a waving lucky cat on the counter. No music and no fancy (or any?) decorations. The fellow diners were a delight too and we swapped pleasantries with several other tables. There was a table of three Chinese people seated near us and I commented on how delicious their food choices looked. They invited us to join them! We politely declined as we didn’t want to gatecrash their occasion and then a short time later one of the party approached our table and offered us a small taste of his two favourite dishes as he wanted to share this with us. Spicy, crunchy chicken and shredded potato with vinegar in case you were wondering. How wonderful and kind was that? The staff, the food, the venue, the clientele made for a wonderful experience. Tasty Chinese lunch boxes for £8, another great choice for lunch in central Manchester. The menu changes daily throughout the week, so you can try different dishes every day. Fri ndly staff. They mainly accept cash only for the lunch deals. Available 12-5pm. Their other dishes and hotpot also look very good.

Absolutely delicious! After just having returned from a trip to Hong Kong, this brought back incredible memories and did not disappoint as an authentic Cantonese restaurant. We ordered garlic fried green beans, Sichuan style noodles and black bean beef with a side of rice. All of it was perfect. We went on a rainy Sunday night and the staff did everything to make us comfortable and enjoy our time there. Absolutely recommend :)

We have been to a few different Korean bbq places but this was by far our favourite. Staff are lovely and extremely helpful, the food is fresh and everything feels well priced for the value you get. I would really recommend coming here and bringing your friends for a fun and tasty Korean bbq experience. We opted in the £28pp menu and it was fantastic, we couldn’t believe how full we were after :) Hope you guys will be as lucky as we were with the experience!

This place feels like we have stumbled on a gem! Amazing, fresh Korean BBQ. The staff are wonderful and really care about the food and your experience, recommending sauce pairings and helping you cook everything properly. We felt so at home and cant wait to come back. Been here today with family and it was amazing, the ladies were so helpful trying to choose dishes. My daughter has spot this place while visiting and she was right. The food was amazing, I had xio style soup and tried dumplings, etc., we've had a limited time before an appointment so we'll be back here 100%.
