Red Lion Pub in Surrey Heath

Once again Sandie and her staff provided great food and service however their wine is ridiculously overpriced. We ordered a bottle of 2019 Rioja Reserva at £46. We know our Rioja wines and this tasted like cheap Tempranillo. We queried this and after decanting we were told that it was fine. I have an App on my iPhone that gives the average cost of a wine at a supermarket and it came up at £8.52. I appreciate and understand that restaurants mark up wines but a 500% mark up is ridiculous. My advice is to enjoy a meal at No 15 as the food is excellent but a have a drink before you go.

Yet another fantastic meal at the gorgeous No.15! Spoilt for choice again with the menu, everything we ordered was delicious and polished off. Make sure you are hungry when you go as the homemade bread and butters and amuse bouches are also wonderful. Service is warm and friendly and the atmosphere is really buzzy. Back soon for a Sunday roast, also not to be missed!

Another superb meal at No.15. My liver pate was delicious, my lamb tender and tasty and the Yorkshire puddings simply melted in the mouth (probably the best Yorkshires I’ve ever had in a restaurant). Jamie recommended a wine that we wouldn’t have chosen but thank goodness we trusted him and went for it. The service, as always, was excellent - not intrusive but there when we wanted it. The cocktails are fabulous too!

Had an amazing meal. Drinks in the lovely cocktail bar first which was relaxed and buzzy. For me scallops and black pudding starter followed by a wonderful chateaubriand shared with a friend. Service was excellent. Friendly and super efficient. Make sure you book as full Fridays and Saturdays.

By far the best restaurant in the area. Never disappointed, The quality of the food is outstanding which is matched by the level of service. It’s great to recommend somewhere to friends and for them to come back and say thank you .

We visited this restaurant with 4 other couples for a Saturday night dinner. All courses had to be pre-ordered from a set menu several days in advance. The table was booked for 8:00 pm. All attendees were in the restaurant bar by 7:30 but our table was not available until 8:35 as the previous diners had overrun. The pre-ordered starter course did not arrive until 9:40 despite all the ordered dishes being served cold. As for my starter of pressed pork terrine and serrano ham crisp, the terrine was loose and wet whilst the serrano ham was definitely not crisp. The scallops starter ordered by one of our party (which required an £5 supplement) comprised a single scallop. The main courses arrived at 10:20 and there was a degree of concern at the small portions and the reality on the plate against the menu description. I and another guest had ordered the hake, salsify, samphire and clam chowder main course and were expecting a traditional chowder. The waiter advised, when asked for a spoon with which to the anticipated soup, that "it's a piece of fish with some sauce on it". The fish turned out to be approximately 2 inches square and the clams were smallest I've ever seen. Other guests found the fondant potatoes accompanying the guinea fowl particularly disappointing. Desserts were delivered at 11:00. Wine was ordered at various points during the meal and were duly delivered unopened and left for diners to serve themselves. Overall the dishes served at this restaurant are very small and need the several side dishes which can be ordered at an additional charge of £5 per side but if, like us, you hadn't been there before you would not know that. It was an unique experience to leave a restaurant hungry after a three course dinner.

New year, new menu and didn't disappoint. The dinner was excellent, a revised choice really caters for all tastes and it's really competitively priced. Little extras like the gratis amuse bouche are always welcome, professional and friendly service hasn't changed at all. A great dinner.

To say that No15 is a jewel in Surrey’s crown would be something of an understatement. Since the revamp and rebranding of what was The Red Lion pub, a whole new experience awaits. The decor is modern with some quirky music memorabilia adorning the walls. Stunning glass house for lunchtime or lit evening dining which overlooks the stylish carp pond adjoining the main restaurant. I had pigeon and pheasant accompanied by a selection of old and new world gems. This place is another level.

Just got back after having the most fantastic meal here. The food was delicious, the staff are lovely and attentive! Couldn’t fault anything. I had the lobster - it’s was tiny - more like a large shrimp with a £10 surcharge. The prawn tempura came out pale and greasy. My children had steak and that looked excellent. The treacle tart dessert was like rubber - you could pull the treacle layer off the base and bounce it off the wall. However the service was very good. My advice…choose wisely!

Fabulous night at No 15. (Originally Red Lion) Has all been revamped and it's lovely. Food, service and ambience was all brilliant. Can recommend everything we both had as it was all delicious. Mussels for me, Oysters for hubby, both had guinea fowl for main. Moist and flavoursome. Then I had the best desert I've ever had. Pears with gorganzola ice-cream. (need the recipe) Yum yum

Come back Red Lion - all is forgiven. As promised we visited again for a light lunch after our last visit when, seeing building works, we assumed that the pub was closed. Super snack, just a couple of starters, beautifully presented and served in the lovely garden. We were made very welcome. We will be back for a bigger meal at a later date.

Probably the best pub restaurant in the area by a country mile. A warm welcome awaited us but we couldn't resist the beautiful garden with it's sweet peas, roses and beautiful cottage garden beds of summer flowers . What is lovely here are the little extras, the home made breads and whipped butters and little canapes to get your taste buds ready for the starter and main courses to come . Do visit if you in the area or a local and support this lovely gem of a pub . Budget for £60 a head for three courses with a couple of drinks which is marvellous value given the quality of the food, presentation and service .

Nice food , not great and really quite pretentious . The portions were small and it seems a bit confused as to whether it should be a gastro pub or whether it’s trying to be a Michelin star restaurant.

What a lovely find… have wanted to come for a while and I was not disappointed. Beautiful pub with stunning outside spaces, the flowers are so pretty. Delicious food, the soft shell crab and the Caesar croquette special were both fab starters. The Amuse bouche was a lovely surprise element and very tasty. We all loved the menu, it is a lot more imaginative than your standard gastro pub chain. You can tell that a lot of attention is paid to the choices on offer. Mains were also very good, and they accommodated requests to vary and alter dishes without any fuss. Nothing was a problem. Cocktails also very creative and high quality, we loved the watermelon and mint martini, and the lychee-tini. Desserts were good, although maybe the only part that didn’t completely wow us. (Not a criticism- just perhaps room to improve?) I will be back to try the other dishes that I fancied - sometimes it’s a shame to have to choose when everything sounds so good!

Excellent Sunday Lunch in all ways.......ingredients, cooking, presentation and service. Roast the best ever. If something is not quite right then it is quickly corrected without fuss. Puddings imaginative and lovely. All excellent. Prices fair.

Excellent lunch after a walk on Horsell common. We went for three courses but shared the starter and dessert and it was just the right amount. Everything was delicious and beautifully cooked and the service was faultless. Our spaniel was not well behaved but got plenty of dog biscuits anyway. Thanks. Will be back soon.

Outstanding, what a wonderful find. We had heard great things and the Red Lion certainly lived up to our expectations- in fact far exceeded them. The service was excellent and the Sunday lunch was superb. A great lunch and then sat in the garden enjoying a few glasses of wine in the sunshine, it doesn’t get any better. Looking forward to our return visit and hopefully many more.

My newly wedded daughter and husband hosted their wedding celebration lunch at the Red Lion. Sandy and her team ensured that everything was perfect, from preprandial drinks in the beautiful garden to the meal itself. All the guests were amazed and delighted by the quality and attention to detail. It was the perfect finale to a memorable day.

This place has the WOW FACTOR. Great atmosphere, service , imagination , cooking, ingredients and choices. A little more expensive than some but quite good value. Fairly busy Friday lunch time.

Myself and three friends had a wonderful long leisurely lunch on Friday. We had a lovely table in the conservatory, next too the garden. The food was fantastic, either a three course or two. The risotto was delicious along with our fish dishes, and delicious desserts. Your staff are lovely, we didn't feel rushed and we most certainly will be back.

We were recommended to come here a few years ago and we have returned several times since. I've never been disappointed. Even if some of the menu sounds a little different, it is always super tasty and that's what gives the fine dining experience. The surroundings are lovely and fresh and what we love is the quiet of it. No chairs scraping on scratched wooden floors as the carpet muffles everything beautifully. Only one thing I didn't understand was why Open Table asked for the occasion as there was no mention of the birthday when we there for my old Mum's birthday. No matter, it was lovely.

So having seen good reviews for roast dinners and all things 'pub-by' we decided to go for dinner. Was surprised how large the venue is, pleasantly laid out outside area, with fish pond and vegetable garden. Inside, the dining area is very much like a restaurant. Although we had seen on the website the set menu, I had (wrongly) expected that there might be an a la carte too. Various quaint touches, such as the individual butter knives, and obviously an attempt to be perceived as a more upmarket venue. The meal began with an 'amuse-bouche' which was a nice touch and delicious. None of us felt our main courses - steak and lamb - were particularly exceptional. Dessert was better! Service was noticeably slow between courses, though the restaurant was not full. So I shall keep an open mind, and I will maybe try it again, but it wasn't quite the experience we were expecting.
