Red Chilli in Leeds

can’t comment much but was pretty pissed off to attend under the impression of an all you can eat as advertised but then finding out it’s only on the sunday they do this option.

Not a place i should Come back to ...

Ordered my favorite pork dish and it tasted like dish soap, when I refused to eat it because of the flavour, the waitress tasted it and said it was normal, we had to pay the bill in full even though we didn't eat a bit of it.

This is a brilliant authentic Chinese restaurant. Food was really tasty and the service was great. They also do the typical British Chinese cuisine too.

Good food with large portions and reasonable prices. The chicken and dumplings were amazing and also packaged our leftovers without asking which was a nice bonus. With the menu being large they really didn't need to accommodate my friend who eats halal but they did, again a nice bonus. I'd go again easily.

I had the chilli and garlic pigs intestines....very different but tasty.... with king prawn rice...don't knock it if you've not tried it...

Great food, great place, pity about all the road construction kinda spoiling the general vibe.

I wanted to scold Uncle Choi for Korean BBQ, but I couldn't find it on the map. Anyway, it was a boss so I scolded him. The pork belly was bought from the supermarket. It was served directly without any marinating. It smelled extremely fishy and the garlic was sour. I had to wait for ten minutes for a plate of garlic. The waiter didn't know what kind of fish he was touching. Then the white male manager told me that he was sorry because the garlic was sour and he was offering a 20% discount. However, he didn’t tell us when we were paying the bill. Only after we paid did we find out that a 30% service fee had been charged. How did you serve me? I ate rotten garlic inside and out and it still made me some money. I really know how to do business. No wonder the chef was poached.

Went to this Chinese restaurant for are Wedding Anniversary meal great staff excellent food will definitely recommend and return when in Leeds again couldn't fault it brilliant.

Service was terrible and the food was average

Went on a Thursday evening. Good food but very slow service. My main arrived 30 minutes after the rest of the group (8 in the group). When I asked about my main I was rudely told by the waiter it is being cooked! It arrived 20 minutes later.

The food was what I would say okay.not very generous portions.I was a bit disappointed with the frogs legs because they added egg and potato in it..... never seen that before

Love Red Chilli. It's been a catch up place for me and my friends for years and has been consistent throughout.

I have been going to the Red Chilli in Leeds for years. Occasionally the RCs in Manc & York. Over the years the food quality has varied. Anywhere between good though frequently outstanding. This is a proper Chinese. So you should expect brusque overworked staff. Not the best of decor either. What counts here is the food on the plate. This is a knickers no fur coat restaurant. Most of the people posting “terrible” reviews are obviously expecting standard Chinglish stuff with slick service. I wish these people wouldn’t bother. The food at the RC is occasionally historically good, certainly at the price. Be adventurous. Try the stuff you don’t find elsewhere. That is what makes it a very good restaurant.

Good fish！tasty! Friendly staffs! Especially James, lovely! We added some vegetables to the fish but there are only a few. Hope they could make progress on this!

Visit made Sunday 10th April, evening meal. Starter Crisp aromatic Duck for 2, very nice. Mains crispy Chilli Beef with egg fried Rice/ King Prawn Curry with chips. All food very tasty. Wine with meal. Service excellent. Would visit again.

My favourite Chinese in Leeds, absolutely all the food I've tried there is amazing, staff are lonely and friendly and it was very quick and very fresh.

Amazing food, slow service. The crispy chilli beef was the best I've had in a long while, the rest of my dining party also said their dishes were true and authentic in style.

AVOID!!!! Food 1 out of 5, service very poor1 of 5 as we can not give less!!!!!. Family of 4, needed to wait for majority of food to arrive after double asking. We decided to try Korean food and will never come back, as this place is and absolute NO! My husbands and my oldest daughters food arrived and after30 mins then I have asked when rest of the ordered dishes will arrive and they said soon … ok fine half of family feed rest is still waiting. Pricy if u think about quality and service. And they add TIP automaticly to ur Bill! AVOID!!!

Visited here again recently for a meal. We popped in last minute on a Friday night and they managed to accommodate us. We ordered a few things including one of the fish dishes, it was a whole fish amd fed a few of us so very generous in portions. It's not the cheapest restaurant but the food and portion sizes are very generous.

It is 5 years since I last ate there and the experience was significantly less enjoyable. The decor hasn't changed at all but it is now looking tired and a little grubby. The food was standard at best, lacking the brightness and flair. However, the wine list although short was good value and had the odd gem.

Many years ago this used to be a good place but now it's just bad service and over priced food

Had a nice ‘linner’ here today - Sharing Platter, Duck Fried Rice and Spring Onion Bread with a beer and a wine: £55. Friendly service and would go back.

Excellent food and excellent service

I have given Red Chilli 4* but I think realistically it's somewhere between 3*&4*. Here on a Friday night, not overly busy. Service was polite but not easy to get attention. The menu is massive, very difficult to hone in on what the restaurant specialises in. There were some nice flavours on display, but lacked some attention to detail, I found the dim sum a little dry. The belly pork was enjoyable but not exceptional. The basa fish soup was the best dish we ordered, the broth full of spice, flavour and Szechwan pepper. The rice was oddly presented in a metal dish, a portion of rice usually comes in a little bowl which also keeps it warm. I am being tough but that is because restaurants around Leeds and London have really stepped up their game over the years.

La verdad es que no es caro, las porciones de cada plato no está mal pero el sabor la verdad que no me gustó mucho.

I’ve been a patron here since it opened, and whilst I still think this is the best value and most authentic Chinese in Leeds it’s looking tired. The toilets are unpleasant, and the place is slightly dirty. Service really attentive though.

Wish they have this branch down south!

This place used to be great but now its different the food was great the atmosphere wasn't there because not enough people in.Its not authentic anymore as we had a guy in a cap and no uniform take the order and drinks were served in the oldest pub glassies ive seen in ages

Very delicious and tasty chinese food of all kinds. Fresh ingredients and made traditionally, authentic flavour. Staffs serving very nice and quick! An always go to restaurant for dinner. ;)

Salt and pepper chicken wings and spare ribs, very nice as starters, we had crispy beef, beef schezwan, chicken chow main, to try with egg Fried rice with chips, this was all very tasty food. One tiger beer and one large wine all for £84. The service was rubbish, no knife just a fork, waiting along time for starters as they were only 3 other tables. Probably would go again.

Excellent selection of authentic Chinese food. Simple English friendly menu also available. The rice is cooked to absolute perfection. Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Ambiance not as dark as other reviews state. We didn't have to wait long either. I will be returning to try different things. For starter I had whole baby squid which were alright but I wouldn't order again. For main I had crispy fried beef in Cantonese sauce which was excellent.

The food was amazing. I love the pork dumplings and hot spicy poached pig’s feet. Very decent Chinese food and fair price as well. Have a try.

The mixed meat fried rice was actually mediocre. An average Chinese takeaway would have been as good. My wife's King Prawn fried rice similarly was nothing special Admittedly, these are hardly adventurous choices. The food also had to be returned as it was lukewarm. The Tiger lager was very cold. The bill including a bottle of water came to about £40 , including a 10 % service charge they add. It seemed incredibly expensive, bearing in mind we just had the fried rice. It may well be that this restaurant excels with the more exotic dishes. In the past, the portions were huge.

We are been here after back from London. After a tired trip to get some delicious food here. The service are perfect. And the amazing price and amount. Recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Very authentic Sichuan cuisine, delicious, friendly waiter service

Red Chilli is operated by racists who prefer their customers to be Chinese rather than European, Asian, Black or anything else. The last time I visited (sadly, I've been more than once) we (a nicely dressed, quiet group) were admitted and had the bill brought before we started eating. In the middle of eating, we were told "we are closed" twice. This wasn't done with the Chinese customers who were still eating. Why let people in and take their money only to do this? The food is good but not good enough to make up for the atrocious service. There are many good restaurants in Leeds; give them your business instead. This place, and the dreadful people who run it, need to go.

I was initially recommended by a friend and become a regular now! I totally enjoyed it every time. The staffs are nice and friendly, the food is tasty and authentic, it has became my first choice when I am thinking about Chinese.

Been to Red Chillies a few times now, the food is good but some of the staff are not too bothered bout the customers. The restaurant is very dark and dated tbh but again the food is good but pricey especially when adding seafood options to dishes.

The food was mediocre. We asked how large the portions were and were told that they were smaller than they actually were so were conned into ordering more - luckily you can ask for containers to take the leftovers home. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. We had 3 servers separately and sporadically ask us for our drink order and then 2 others ask in the same manner for our food order. The food was then served warm and separately at various times rather than all at once. Personally would not recommend dining in.

Very nice Chinese food, we went on Dragon boat festival and get a free zongzi, very nice restaurant and tasty food, I will definitely go again.

Ordered on Deliveroo. Food was absolutely disgusting, all meals we ordered were such poor quality. I didn’t feel safe to eat the meat due, and put everything in the bin after a few mouthfuls. A complete waste of money!

Turns out we had a lucky escape from this dirty restaurant run by people who obviously couldn’t give a damn about customer service , quality of food and basic manners.I won’t drag out our experience which thankfully didn’t include some of the appalling and inedible food (see other peoples reviews below ) on their menu.My advice to you is give this kip a wide berth.

Totally disorganised. Our food was delivered to the next table and theirs to ours. The food itself was raw. We think also that little of the food was fresh. Thankfully we hadn’t ordered more than the starters, even after sending the uncooked buns back. The table next were even more annoyed. Awful

Price reasonable and is a very good Chinese traditional spicy food

First time in and WORSE experience ever. We told the waiter that we have to leave by 7. our food gt to the table at 7:05. (1 hour waiting for the food) first to order in our sección and last to be serve. They are very incompetents they do not have a good customers service. I will not recommended to anybody. I bet there’s better Chinese restaurants in town.

By far the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at in Leeds. Food - beyond awful, service even worse. This place needs closing down . Congratulations.

We visited here under friends' recommendation and were initially excited to try. However, after sitting here for an hour, there is no single meal in our table. After long waiting,the waitress tell us that their machine is broken and they are 'sorry' for that. During that, nobody tell us such a accident. This is a really bad service and we are not going to come here anymore.

After visiting here a while ago with a friend and being impressed I was looking forward to visiting again with another friend. However it was hugely disappointing. Despite their seemingly being loads of staff on they seemed incapable of working as a team, or indeed to carry out rudimentary waiting staff tasks. It took 45 mins to actually order our food. We wanted the banquet for 2 but were told by the first member of staff that he couldn’t take the order for that because it needed to be written in Chinese, then a second staff member failed to take the order and finally three times was a charm. When the soup arrived it essentially tasted like weak chicken stock with some sweetcorn and chicken floating in it. The starters were better, and the crispy duck was passable. By the main course my friend and I were kind of past it. The main was served to us after 10pm when we had arrived at the restaurant at 8. We ate some but got the rest packed up to take out. In the midst of this we ordered 2 glasses of wine ( we had finished our bottle) that never made it to us. Paying for the meal took three attempts but we got there eventually. The restaurant had hopefully added a service charge! We did pay a proportion of this but if anywhere ever needed good staff training this is it. All the staff were extremely pleasant, welcoming and friendly so I feel slightly unhappy writing all this but all were very young and a lack of experience really showed.

We visit last night and the food was some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were all friendly, polite and attentive.

This was my favourite place to eat in Leeds but they need to up their game.. service incredibly slow and a bit off hand. Menu not as interesting as it was, though the quality of the food was good when it eventually arrived. No draught beer either, so you pay overblown prices for tiny bottles. The Manchester venues are much better.

Have been here before and always had a good time and food was great , but this week walked in the room was freezing the waitress had a coat on the bar man had his coat on , we asked if they could turn the heating on but just got snubbed off , I wanted to leave but my wife said let’s give it a chance. Omg what a mistake the food and service was terrible , sat in an ice box all night the only good service was when I asked to pay. Will never go again.

Pre covid we would come every wedding anniversary. We wont be back. Scruffy staff (some in baseball caps and hoodies!), slow mediocre food which is definitely smaller portions but at the same price. Disappointing.
