Had lunch here a few weeks ago. The menu has a good variety and food was delicious!

The food is always amazing here can recommend this for amazing flavour and authenticity of Chinese food

A very nice place near the coach station. The selection is nice, for the spicy food lovers is the place. The chicken was not the best, but the noodles were amazing!

Horrible food charged £62 for hardly anything tea had curd milk white bits floating the ribs was the worst I've eaten and they kept watching me eat me food I will never go here again and don't recommend really horrible food

The best Chinese in all of Manchester. The food is authentic, and tastes always delicious. The service is exemplary (mind you they add 10% service charge to the bill). Not knocking any points but I am not a fan of the egg fried rice here, little bit basic and bland.

Delicious food, fast and friendly service, great atmosphere. Portion sizes are very good and reasonably priced. I recommend the crispy chilli beef :)

Brilliant 1st time experience, my friend had been previously and knew it, the food was fantastic, service was very good and the atmosphere was good. We were a Walk In and they accomodated us, there had been a match on and was quite busy but the staff got us a table. Price was good and the portion's were a good size, please try if you're coming to Manchester.👍

I had one of the best Chinese meals I’ve ever had in this restaurant. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly cooked. Huge portions, lovely staff, welcoming atmosphere and reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommended

We arrived at 11:30 noon. It was not lunch time but it was raining outside, so the waiter asked us to sit for a while and poured warm water. There were not many people eating. The two of us ate more than thirty pounds, and we could get a 10% discount by paying cash.

It was not superb and not bad. For me just OK. As they claim they were award winner restaurant. I think its been years now you can have much more tasty food and please make portion size more good.

The food was great! All the dishes we ordered were good in taste. Plenty of food in one dish and the service of the ladies who attended us was over welcome 🤗

I ordered a takeaway dish of 'sweet and sour ribs but substituted the ribs with diced chicken.' However, what I received wasn’t sweet and sour sauce, and the chicken had a fishy smell. When I called them, the staff informed me that the dish I wanted is called 'sweet and sour chicken.' To clarify, sweet and sour ribs typically only come with sweet and sour sauce, which is a brownish glaze without bell peppers or pineapple. On the other hand, sweet and sour pork or chicken ('gulao rou') usually includes bell peppers, pineapple, and onions, with a bright red sauce made with ketchup. What they gave me was the sweet and sour sauce, not the 'gulao' sauce. I just feel that I spent a lot of time explaining what I wanted at the time, but no one told me the correct name, which left me unhappy with the meal when I got home.

Servers spoiled chicken on deliveroo. Also refused a refund, horrid place.

We went there because we heard they serve halal chicken , but we end up order fish , massive big fish , woow so chilly and delicious

Food tasted soo good!! We had 2 on starter menu, which were amazing, and 2 noodles soups; beef brisket is recommended. Teas in pot were huge, Chrysanthemum smells so aromatic and sweet. Staff were attentive.

Been coming here for years and years, seen a few menu changes (r.i.p mutton ribs), and have brought my friends a few times too. The go to wombo combo is Grandma Chilli sauce Frog's legs, Geleshan fried chicken (so crunchy and comes with loads of chillies) and Pork intestines in a spicy hot pot stew. But there's other great dishes too. Staff are always friendly and very attentive. (Would give more stars if I could) I have a few photos to drop from more recent visits here. :D

Had a pretty disappointing meal after ordering on Deliveroo one evening. The food didn't taste fresh, it was quite dry, lacking in taste, the portions were small and far too expensive for the quality/experience overall. The only good thing was it arrived quickly but seems like they really skipped on spending some time actually putting some quality meals together. I don't plan on ordering again.

Ordered a fire cracker chicken takeout. Didn’t get what I expected at all. The chicken, aka ‘Laziji’, is an iconic Szechuan dish made by quickly frying raw chicken in boiled fresh-made chili oil. Whereas the dish I had here was just some pre-made breaded chicken nuggets reheated with chilli in a wok. Although the taste was eatable, It was just a terrible humiliation to the authentic Laziji🤦‍♂️. Btw, tried the other Red Chili restaurant at Oxford St. before, and the taste is way better than this one.

Absolutely lovely meals. Struggled to choose which ones to have! Reasonably priced for a city centre restaurant and tasted really nice. Fully enjoyed it. It was recommended by my daughter, as she had meals there a couple of times so far. Sure we'll be back again 😇🙌🏻

Very good dim sum and nice serice, the interiors could use just a little warmer vibe, it feels a little bit like a diner, but most importantly the food is very good!

It may be a bit strange for a Korean to go to a Chinese restaurant in Manchester, but I was really satisfied. I had Singapore style noodles (I forget the exact name) and I think it would be perfect for those who like spice. When you want to go to a Korean restaurant, it's okay to go to a Chinese restaurant.

Great food so long as you enjoy real Chinese food and not that fast food rubbish.

The food was very disappointing! Tasteless broth when it's supposed to be sour and spicy and soaked noodles!! The crispy ribs were not tasty either! (Hot wings from fast food shop were much nicer than this!) Very disappointing!

The food here is always so delicious! I've brought my friend to this Chinese restaurant multiple times, and every visit leaves us beaming with satisfaction. Not only is the food top-notch, but the customer service is super friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. 😊

We got the ma laa fish, salt and pepper squid, tofu chilli, cucumbers, woodear mushrooms and ma la chicken. The best thing was the salt and pepper squid and tofu chilli. The worst was the fish and chicken, mainly due to too much ma la peppercorns put on the food, it overpowered the food and you just had bites of numbing peppercorn instead of actual food. The service was good and the lady at the front of the restaurant was a delight to talk too. Just less peppercorns please!

Ordered takeaway, the soup tasted old and not like the one i ordered. Main dish pork belly with greens and cabbage was quite good.

Absolutely brilliant!! It's my favourite Chinese restaurant since 10 years ago when I was studying at UoM. I am so lucky that I have got a chance to visit this restaurant again after a full decade. They have changed a bit about their Manu. However, you can still ask the staff for your customised dishes which they used to have. Highly recommended! Will definitely go back. 曼城最強、最美味的中餐館！沒有之一！

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Manchester. Was a regular for 4-5 years while working near the city. Recently went back to check on them, the food was, like before, well prepared, tasty, spicy, piquant. The wok-fried mutton with cumin and coriander is mouth wateringly superb, and so is the Geleshan dry fried chicken. The staff is professional and courteus.

Tan tan noodle was not spicy at all but it was good.

Honestly really enjoyed it. Everything was cooked perfectly , very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Would definitely go again. With drinks the whole picture cost around £70

Really enjoyed the food here, its hard to find an authentic Chinese restaurant that does Halal Chicken & Duck. Unfortunate their Beef is not Halal but its not affected my 5* review as not only is there food amazing but their staff are so nice and friendly cannot fault their service.

Staff was very nice. But the food was terrible. I ordered the hot and sour sea food soup and that was horrible taste. Couldn’t even eat it. Then I had Barbecue chicken with peanuts and the taste was better but not as expected. Afterwards I had tummy problems. Will never go back there again. Also a bit pricy. There were almost no clients.

Not busy on Saturday’s night which is perfect for us. They do both hongkong style and Sichuan style dishes. We had 2 noodle dishes and 3 meat dishes.Very efficient service but also friendly. Surprised by the cumin lamb, authentic and also tasty. This is more like a homemade style not a fancy place but we like it!

Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Staff very friendly. Went on a Thursday night so it wasn’t busy. Recommend.

Started coming here over Oxford road branch as it went downhill. This started off great but is also slowly going down hill. Half the menu unavailable. Chicken was dry, noodles were cold, cut of meat was poor for beef. Overall expensive for poor quality. One of the waiters were lovely. Atmosphere, cleanliness and decor desperately needs updating.

Great Chinese on the edge of China town. I agree the restaurant and decoration was a bit basic, but the food was delicious and reasonably priced with the choice of opting for set menus. The service was also good and accommodating. Would recommend!

The food was nice, not too sure how authentic it is as I'm not from Szechuan (Red Chilli's cuisine). Didn't order anything spicy but the three cup chicken was nice, the waitress offered boneless chicken option and bone on chicken option to me as she clearly understands some people doesnt like bone on meats. Portion sizes were reasonable, price is on the higher end but chinese restaurants are normally in this range around China Town Manchester (approx £10 per main). The service was fast but I was the only customer in the restaurant, as seen in the photographs. Despite being the only person in the restaurant, the waiter and waitress wasn't near my table and keep looking at me, I was quite comfortable eating at my table by myself. The waiter was nearby, if I needed anything, he was there to help. Overall a good experience. Songs were nice, they are Cantonese and the staff are Cantonese in a Szechuan restaurant but it's all fine as the staff did know what to recommend on the menu. They recommended me the Ma Po ToFu 麻婆豆腐（which is the most popular homemade Szechuan dish) and some of the other spicy options. It was quiet when I was there so the atmosphere was quiet but not eerie. Overall a good meal, I would highly recommend.

Popped in after hearing nice things decor is basic but doesn’t affect the use I was a bit dubious it was v quiet for a Saturday afternoon so honestly wasn’t expecting too much I was wrong the lady took our orders and we were presented our food which both dishes where lovely cooked beautifully. We shall return for sure. Downside is access down a few steps to get in and then if needing the loo up two flights of stairs so if you have mobility issues it may cause you problems

We have been to Red Chilli many times over a few years. This time the sweet and sour was far too sweet and was just like eating sugar. The spring rolls and the salt and pepper chicken wings were lovely. Freshly cooked and tasty.

Food is good. Maybe too much oil in the dishes, so we had to drain it. Service is not great. We told the waiter it was cold in the restaurant, and his response was its 28 degrees !!!! Just be truthful to you customers and don't make a fool if them.

Overall an adequate restaurant. Would give 3.5 stars. Menu looks good with lots of choices. Food and price is matching but wouldn’t say it’s amazing, maybe I haven’t tried their best dishes. Not as spicy as I thought it would be but I have yet to try other dishes. Would recommend to try once. Great location too in the city centre. Went a little early when it opened and they didn’t have white rice only fried rice otherwise service was great. Pay by CASH or card.

What a really lovely place... the decor is a bit basic but don't let that put you off. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is very attentive and welcoming. Very highly recommended!

The mapo tofu, green beans, and sweet and sour seabass were the best options.

This is a very nice restaurant about a 10 minute walk from the picadilly train station. Even closer if you take a tram to get close before walking. I had the Gongboo Chicken. It was excellent!

We had the set menu which we enjoyed. This is a basement restaurant served by steps. Also the toilets are up their own stairs. Not suitable if you have balance or mobility issues.

This meal was helllaaaaa bussin. The lazi ji (chicken fried with chillis and szechuan peppercorns) was so good; perfectly balanced level of spice with the peppercorns. The kinda spice that is completely addictive. We also got ox heart, tripe and tongue thinly sliced with chilli oil, vinegar, soy and peanuts. The textures of the meat was chewy and the combination of seasonings are what Chinese cuisine is all about - balance.The chow mein was also excellent. Service was polite and incredibly quick but dont let this fool you - everything was cooked hella fresh. Highly recommend this place.

Really loved the dandan noodles and braised chicken in three cup sauce. Went with a couple of friends and loved the ambience. I wish I could eat more. The dandan noodles had an addictive rich broth andaroma and the pork was perfect with small chunky bits.

Stopped at Red Chilli for an early evening meal of chicken in lemon sauce. Service was prompt and the vibe is relaxing.

Our first visit to Manchester- ordered a banquet- it was brilliant- food and service absolutely excellent- gaps between courses were just right - we ate more than we thought we could have. Owners please come and open a restaurant in Barnsley we only have Chinese takeaways!! When we return to Manchester we will visit again. Thank you

Felt like being back in China. Food is really authentic. They even have baijiu (local alcohol) that you can try and goes well with a celebratory meal.

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, the staff are very friendly (if not a little busy at times), but the food can be a little greasy.

(Visited Apr 2022) I booked tea here with two friends, and we shared our dishes- a filling, mixed flavour combo of incredibly moreish Chinese food. (Visited 2020) My friend and I got the Classics banquet, which started off with Chicken Sweetcorn Soup (or Hot & Sour Soup). The Starters were all enjoyable, particularly the spring roll and crispy seaweed. I was pleasantly surprised by the Diced Chicken in Lettuce Wrap that came after: the sauce that accompanied it was tangy and flavoursome. We chose the Crispy Shredded Beef and Sautéed Shredded Pork for the mains. My problem with the former was that I could only taste the batter. The pork, on the other hand, was very palatable. They came with an ample serving of Egg Fried Rice. The Top Seller banquet comes with prawn toast as part of the Starter selection, and Aromatic Crispy Duck Pancakes rather than the diced chicken for the Appetiser course. The mains are a little bit more premium, but less filling, and so I’d stick by the Classics option should I return. Sadly, the service was not up to scratch. We had to ask several times for cutlery- at one point, I received a dirty fork. It took a long time between courses, and the Tea/Coffee at the end never came. Having been in the restaurant for three hours, we vacated and paid on our way out. One of the servers apologised for the slowness and blamed it on the restaurant being busy, but it wasn’t. Eat Out to Help Out brought the meal down to a good value price. On a Covid note, there was hand sanitiser upon entry…but that’s about it.

I guess from the outside you wouldn’t think it looks that beautiful on the inside. The menu is a bit overwhelming, especially if you are just used to “standard” Chinese dishes such as sweet and sour and chow mein. The menu has way more to offer and it is an experience. The staff were alright - nothing over the top, just service but rarely a smile. Nevertheless the food was absolutely amazing and the portions were massive. One thing that bothered me though was that we asked for a jug of tap water and the water was lukewarm, which wasn’t really pleasant. Very filling portions and nice Ambiente though.

Look for Alan the manager and say that Scott sent you! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for good food and good service at a pretty low price! The sweet vinegar pork tenderloin is really good, just remember to tell them to make it extra crispy and cooked!
