Ray's Fish And Chip Shop in Tameside

We visited Rays last Friday night. We ordered salt & pepper Chicken wings, Chinese BBQ Ribs, & special Chow mein. There was lots of meat on the ribs. The chicken wings was very nice so was the Chow mein. We will definitely be returning.

Best Sweet n Sour Pork in Tameside, perfectly cooked. Ray is a great bloke, bit of a character in Haughton Green. They do great chips too!

This was our first visit. Ray was the most friendly person you could wish to meet. Fish and chips twice was our order and the food was great, next visit we may only have 1 portion of chips as the portions were huge. Great customer service, fabulous food.

Best Chinese chippy in the area, huge portions of good tasty food and Ray is one of the friendliest blokes around. Been coming here for years even though it’s about 7 miles away and there are lots of closer places. Just a shame they don’t deliver but they don’t need to as there is always people queuing

I was recommended this fish and chip shop by the youtube sensation Scott Harrison and I'm so glad I tried it. The chips were delicious and the batter was so crispy. If you're in the area and hungry make the effort to get here. Delicious.

Everytime.....Ray never let's you down. Buy a pie and he will give you a scoop of chips with it. Spend a bit more Ray will give you a portion of small spring rolls or prawn crackers. Portions are huge....gone here for years....

I have had food from here so many times and each time it has been spot on! The chips are to die for and the Chinese food is amazing my personal favourite being chicken Cantonese style with egg fried rice! The staff are so friendly especially Ray who greets you like an old friend every time you visit! You always seem to get something free or have you bill rounded down when placing a large order! I won't visit another Chippy even if it does involve having to go out and get it myself! Also be warned the portion sizes are huge! XxX

We drive approx 4 miles to eat these chips! Great portion sizes and lovely tasting fish and chips, the gravy is great too! We love them, the best in Tameside by far!!

You can't beat this chippy we have family from the south and the first day they get here they have to get rays chippy. Ray is the friendliest guy you could meet. Wouldn't have any other.

Always friendly and big portions, food is delicious. Wide variety on the menu and can usually slighty change your meal to suit your taste.e.g. No mushrooms or lots of mushrooms.

For years we've fallen in love with Ray's Chinese food and been to many places around the world, but nothing compares to Ray's fried Rice dishes and chips in taste, quality and quantity - (not to mention the efficient & very friendly service)Its not only one of the best in Manchester but I believe even outside our borders.Highly recommended!

This is by far the best chippy in Manchester. The portion sizes are massive and one portion of chips could feed three people. Ray the owner is the most nicest genuine person you could meet and he always throws something in for free.

Went in and ordered some fish and chips and chinese food for my other half, they gave us the wrong order, meaning i had to go back, and argue with the woman who was convinced that i had intentionally ordered something i do not like. All the while my food was going stone cold at home. Probably need some serious customer service training.

Once you have sampled Ray's fish and chips you wont want to get your chip supper from anywhere else.Great portions (and will sometimes throw in an extra spring roll or two) at fantastic prices. Great service from the staff.If you are going early evening, be prepared to wait as everything is cooked fresh.

Rays is the best chippy ever! Plenty to choose from , Ray always has a smile for his customers and gives the biggest portions too! Alongside that he will always throw in that extra spring roll or bag of prawn crackers! A great little chippy

Ray is simply the best chippy in Manchester. His food is fresh and always very tasty. Customer care is Ray's number 1 quality and the few freebies he throws in always puts a smile on my face. If you fancy salt and pepper dishes I recommend the chicken.

This is by sure the best chippy in Manchester, Ray himself is so so friendly. They give out VERY generous portions, like one portion would feed 3. The food itself is delicious. Very clean inside, the queues die down quickly too. Could not fault this place.

You'll find out for yourself how good the food is and how friendly ray is and you won't be able to eat a portion of their chips. Feeds at least 3 people

I go to this Chinese chip shop every other week and I cannot fault the food. It has 5 star food hygiene and the portion sizes are huge. It is run by very friendly people and I am giving it 5 Stars!!!!

Food is fabulous, whether it is for traditional fish and chips or their gorgeous Chinese food. Ray serves very generous portions as well as catering for picky children!! There is usually a queue outside which is always a good sign. Extremely helpful and friendly staff work here and it is a real family business. Roll on Friday!

The best chippy! And Ray and his family are lovely! Both the English and Chinese food is gorgeous, and if it's cold ray is even generous enough to give you a cone of chips whilst you wait. I have been coming to rays chip shops since the day I can remember and would never change chip shops :)

His portions are legendary and he gives 'free' chips with most things and his free portions are bigger than some other chip shops regular portions! The Chinese food is fantastic. Ok let me first tell you Ray is a bit of a legend around Haughton Green.When i moved to haughton green i use to drive past rays and always thought jeez how busy it was, There wasn't ever anyone in the take away next to it and he seemed tio always be full to the point people stood outside.So i decided to give it a try, i went for the sweet and sour while the missus had beef black bean. The portions were huge and no not all vegetables, mostly really good quality meat. From that day we seriously been hooked!! every 2 weeks we have a take away from rays! people the fish and chips pies etc are tasty but please trey some of the chinese food as well! sooo tasty!!!
