We had a really cracking breakfast here this morning and will definitely be back. The customer service was so good, with friendly and engaging staff as well as the great card gimmick at the end for the chance to get your meal for free (which one of us did). The Big Breakfast was exactly that and proved excellent value for £6.50 with no cheap ingredients and a choice of how the eggs came was a nice change too. This may be our new favourite breakfast place.

We visited during a busy breakfast service and were met by the owner, who was attentive, welcoming and enthusiastic. Our teas, coffees and breakfasts came quickly and were beautifully presented and of good quality. The home made hash browns were not to our taste, but it’s good to see the effort being made to do something a bit different. Well worth a visit!!

Skewen is quite the culinary dark horse. As a small town, out of town it has some nice eateries, big and small. No exception to this rule is Rarebit, an enticing cafe I had a takeaway coffee from recently. Some places just have a magical secret ingredient which draws you; the decor, the ambience, the feel, call it what you will. So I re-visited determined to try their breakfast. A couple of days later, and an unforced welcome awaits. The breakfast I have not only sets me up for the day, but well, for whatever I have ahead. I chose the bigger breakfast; consisting of two items of each, toast and a coffee to shake the torpor of grey skies beyond. All is cooked to perfection, and enjoyed in comfortable, cosy surroundings. Sauces come in bottles, not in measly unopenable plastic wraps. Perfick. It's clearly a very popular place, and it's not difficult to see why. Get a place like this in London and you'd pay a fortune for it. Fortunately for me and its clientele, it is not. Delicious. And a stand out moment? Well, it has to be the hash brown, unique, almost rosti like and a lesson to chefs in how to make one. I look forward to my return visit, very much.

Rarebit has quickly become the 'go to' cafe for my husband and I. The food is really great and you always receive a warm welcome from the owners and their friendly staff. The food is home made and always so filling. We often have takeaway breakfasts (compostable containers!) and really love the Sunday Lunches. Definitely the best carvery that we've ever had! The cafe allows dogs and the staff are always so helpful when we take ours. If you are unsure about what to have - the Vanilla French Toast is to die for and we always take home an Everything Brownie! The Hunter's Chicken and Welsh Rarebit are also firm favourites, but to be honest, we've never had a bad meal!

Called her for breakfast. Cooked breakfast and a drink for just under £5!! It's a large breakfast and I just about finished it. The food was freshly cooked and really tasty. Service was excellent, a very friendly welcome. Baby changing available and toilets were clean. I'd highly recommend this place and we'll definitely be back.

The only things "Cafe" about Rarebit Cafe are their prices! The dining area is trendy and clean, the staff are friendly, polite and very helpful and the food is professional chef standards. The pork sausages actually TASTE of pork, the baked beans make you understand that quality beans really do make the difference, and their home made hash browns are just divine. Don't even get me started on the |Eggs Benedict! Today I had my first "Three Little Piggies" and I would swear I was in a top class, very expensive restaurant, our table was full of groans of delight from start to finish. Billy, Y Carennydd

Popped in for breakfast on a very busy Saturday morning - the staff had a lot of people to cater for but did so brilliantly; the bacon and egg bap I ordered was great value for money - the bacon was thick and tasty & the whole roll was delicious. Fantastic service and food.

Fab quirky little place (off the beaten track so you need to find it first) but great friendly service and reasonably priced tasty cafe food. Came here as a group of 10 cyclists and they managed to serve the whole group with cooked food (bacon rolls) within 15 minutes.
