Rakki Rakkas in Nottingham

Good food, fresh and well seasoned but not too hot. Good value with generous portions. Service bells on the table are useful during busy periods as it often is. Careful not to over order as the complementary salad and dips with the tasty Turkish bread can be filling. You can always order more!

We've visited the restaurant in the past and loved it but sadly our latest visit left us disappointed. The menu has been reduced and minimal options to choose from if your not interested in a kebab. The food we ordered was generally good with the exception of no aubergine on one dish ordered that is a main ingredient. The biggest issue is the service. As a restaurant customer service needs to be of high quality. We ordered a starter and a main but somehow they delivered the main first, the issue with aubergine missing and at no point did they ask how the food was. The mains were delivered as still eating the starter. Our starter plates weren't even taken away until we finished everything. We saw staff regularly on their mobiles rather than checking on customers. This is not a standard of service we met previously at the restaurant. Ask the staff to talk to customers, I noted the same type of service for other tables. Could be a long time before we return to what has previously always been a good place to eat.

Food was good however service was beyond mediocre. Felt like the staff were upset we were there! No warm welcome, no checking in with us to see how we were enjoying our meal. Had to get our own cutlery as the table was not fully equipped. The button on the table to call staff either not working or perhaps we were just deliberately being ignored. You could see how staff interacted with all of the other diners as it became busy quite quickly. Stern when taking the order and bringing out drinks . Somehow felt like 1940s Alabama or 1970s South Africa. Disappointing experience especially for our children too. Would never give my hard earned coin to this place again.

Our Granny lived in Sherwood until earlier this year, "Rakki's" was our favourite place to eat or get takeaway from, we've been going since it first opened and have never had anything less than DELICIOUS food. It's a running joke in our family that no one would plan their visit to Granny on a Monday because Rakki's is closed! Lamb yoghurtlu adana is my absolute favourite!

Love this restaurant the food is amazing even got a box to take home any leftovers! The staff are so friendly too.

Lovely place to be with your family and have authentic and lovely food. Howeve, the staff needs to be trained better, we did asked three time to packed our left overs since we couldn't not spend more time there, but the service bin our food. Sadly we spent a lot of money to be put in the bin.

I love this place! I first came when visiting my sister and absolutely fell in love. The food is so tasty, the service is very quick and professional and the portion sizes although looking at the plate doesn't look like much but I have yet to finish my plate. The starter is unexpected but very tasty and is a nice accompaniment for the main dish. You can ask for a takeaway box if you can't eat it all in one sitting which I have done previously. The staff are very nice. I would highly recommend

Visited Rakki Rakkas in Nottingham with a group of friends, and while the food was absolutely delicious, there were a few service issues that dampened the experience. The timing and portions of the bread and dip left a lot to be desired. The bread and dip were brought out just before the mains, which made the table a bit overcrowded and awkward. We were a party of eight, spread over two or three tables, and were only given one small saucer of each dip to share between all of us. To make matters worse, we had to pay extra for additional dips, which seemed a bit stingy considering the size of our group. Although the quality of the food was brilliant, the customer service let it down. It wasn’t particularly busy, so I expected a bit more attention to detail. It’s a shame because the food really did stand out, but the service didn’t quite match up. That said, I’ll definitely be back because the food was just too good to resist. I’m hoping next time, the service will be a bit more on point to complement the fantastic dishes.

We were there on Sunday evening. The meze and salad were very good, prices a bit high but the atmosphere was spacious and clean. Despite many customers, the food came quickly. The waiters were very friendly and polite.

We had been recommended by friends but never made it. Today we thought we would pop in for dinner and the food and service was amazing. The bread, dips and salad that come free were to die for and the mains so nice and fresh. Big shout out to Maryam, so friendly and accommodating. Thank you, we will definitely return!

Avoid this restaurant if you're gluten-free. We weren’t asked about allergens at any point. I ordered food which was listed as GF, and the meal came with chips or rice, and I picked rice. My meal came with half rice and half couscous (not mentioned on the menu). When I queried this, I was told neither the chips nor the rice were gluten-free. I was charged in full, despite advising that I couldn't eat the couscous or rice and pointing out the menu error.

Good restaurants are hard to find nowadays! Definitely recommend this one! It's the real thing not cowboy restaurant

We had a wedding celebration in the private room upstairs. We were looked after excellently and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend!

First and last time visiting this place 😅 I have been working in Turkish places for 4 years so I do have a knowledge about the food (more than the restaurant staff) and this is the worst I have ordered lamb chops expecting that you can’t go wrong with that as it’s the most expensive meat on the menu turns out I was wrong miniature pieces of lamb chops just like the ones u buy in asda not marinated no taste at all + very dry 19£ for that ? If u guys send drinks with food as that’s how u decided u could ask customers if they prefer them with food or before food specifically when u sending a spicy dip This is nowhere near a taste of turkey Not even the bread just a pitta bred no Turkish bread

Very rude waitress who failed to clear our table of used plates, and then tried to serve our cold meals whilst they were still in situ! When we pointed out our plates needed clearing she called me ‘darling’ using a very snappy tone - not good! The food was also very cold due to her having to leave it in the side whilst clearing our plates and then getting new cutlery! It was so avoidable! Wont be going back again!! Maybe if she spent less time talking on her phone, she might have more time to offer a proper service!!!

Our first time getting a takeaway (have you aten in before) and order taken quickly. Comfortable waiting area. Unfortunately we ended up with someone else's order and didn't realise until we'd taken it out to eat at the park. We rang and spoke to them and they not only got our order but told us to keep the other order! So much food. We shared it with some people in the park and we're very grateful for how quickly they sorted everything. Must have cot them quite a bit as an error, which is unfortunate, but can't fault the customer service one bit (and it made some.teenagers in the park very happy, as well as ourselves). Our children said it was the best takeout they'd had in ages. We will be back!

We were seated within seconds, our orders were taken soon as we were ready. Food was served in a timely manner, with a smile. Staff are friendly, polite and ensure you have a nice time being there. Food was delicious, and doggy bags provided for what we couldn't eat, very generous portion sizes.

Came in for a meal last night and the service really wasn’t up to scratch. It was a very busy evening, and the staff were not stood doing nothing by any means but the service needs polishing. We waited a long time for drinks and when we asked where they were we were asked who took the order. I don’t see how it’s relevant and time spent asking could be spent finding out where our drinks were. We got them eventually after another wait. Salad and bread came but had to ask for plates. The mixed shish was absolutely tiny for the money. The pieces of meat were minuscule and we were shocked. It did taste nice but the amount was not acceptable in my opinion. We had another person join us and he ordered food and more bread and salad came. We weren’t told this was for him and so we were confused. Fair enough we should have realised but the poor girl bringing food seemed new and just as confused as to why we said no to it. No one helped her or offered an explanation. No one checked back on our food and no extra drinks were offered. A bottle of soft drink is tiny so we had to ration them to last as no one came to see if we’d like more. The servers were pleasant, but it was disappointing that the service was barely there. I feel all issues can be rectified with a strong managerial presence around. I hope this feedback is constructive and can helped address any issues in the future.

Been to this restaurant numerous times, always enjoyed previous visits. This time not impressed with the lack of service, watched our table ignored on numerous occasions to be cleared of finished, dirty dishes and glassware, confrontational attitude of one particular waitress and cold food for a main meal. Totally let down!

The food is good however for a take-out the portion of meat in a £16 meal was not worth it. Considering I bought three meals it was very much overpriced. The rice portion you will receive will be a full container whereas the meat portion container will only be half full. For the price consider going else where.

This is the second time I have eaten here and it has been great both times, first time we booked,last night we just popped in on the off chance. They did manage to squeeze us in however I would recommend booking just in case. It always seems to be busy, buzzing with a great atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, even down to the ingredients in each dish . The complementary bread and dips is a great touch , last night we have the kebab plater for two, delicious 😋 would 💯 recommend and 💯 be going back, beautiful food, with an extensive menu, something for all tastes.

The manager was horrible. The owner was so rude and wouldn't give me a refund for the uncooked food. I had a horrible experience and would highly recommend not going here. The food was not seasoned.

I think this is the finest Turkish cuisine you can find in Nottingham! Having lived in Turkey for a decade, I feel this comes closest to the authentic flavors of Turkish food. Staff are super nice and service is great!

Worst Turkish in Nottingham. If you like gentrified, over priced, tiny portions then this is for you. £10 lamb shish wrap - with no lamb. Tiny diced shreds of lamb trimmings, and to top it off £2 for a bottle of water - rip off. Go too Nergiz Bakery or Rotana for real food. Please contact me too sort this I’ve been coming for years - but this afternoon was a complete rip off, I’d of took it back if I hadn’t driven home to eat it on my lunch break!

1st time and it was lovely... Lots of the Menu was Gluten free which was great..

Food was delicious. Whilst all the staff bar 1, were lovely, we felt forgotten. Our empty plates were left far too long before being cleared, we had to ask for cutlery and the dessert menu. It was a long wait to take the orders too.

Food was lovely. But unhappy 2b charged £9 for 2 sodas( was an extra £1 each for the lime) i no u pay more in a restaurant for drinks. But i think this is a lot for 2 small soda & limes

Very happening, lively place.Excellent food tasty and obviously fresh, good value. Got a bit loud so that we couldnt hear ourselves..maybe need some soft furnishings to dampen the noise but dont let this stop you from trying Rakki Rakkas its fab!! 👍🏻😊

I visited this awesome establishment today for lunch. We were welcomed upon arrival and sat down efficiently. We were given complimentary cold meze, nan bread and a large salad bowl. The complimentary additions were very welcomed. The food was amazing and fresh. Each table has a buzzer for customers to use, to place order, to ask for bill etc. This is an awesome idea. The place is aesthetically pleasing g and very clean. The service from the young.lady was impeccable. I definetley recommend and would visit again.

Fantastic food as always. My first time visiting since the revamp - looks beautiful from outside and is cosier than before but I miss seeing the chefs cooking on the grill etc. Food was amazing and plenty of it. Great to see that they still give complementary dips and Turkish bread and their beautiful mixed salad. A really lovely meal

We attended a birthday celebration here. The food was nice overall although not anything outstanding they provided a nice selection of bread salad and dips for the table. It was ridiculously loud as noise from other tables echoed in the room upstairs'. The wine was hugely overpriced and really poor quality. The waitress was nice but didn’t seem to understand that if you asked for something extra like a sauce with your food she basically said no you don’t need it? Just odd service. I wouldn’t eat here again unfortunately.

Gorgeous food, loads of space and we hung around after our food for quite a while, chatting etc without feeling that they wanted us out of the way.

Portion sizes are small considering the price you are paying, rice was very dry, kebabs were very dry soup was very expensive. The only positive was salad.

Food was tasty but portion sizes were below par for the prices charges. Staff were very friendly and helpful but numerous items in the order never arrived or took far too long. Sauces arrived after meals were finished! Nice vibe and atmosphere made up for it.

A really nice Turkish restaurant with great food and service.

Heard good things about this restaurant so decided to give it a go We were in a party of nine and given the first table upstairs. I was seated at the end of the table with very little space right next to the walk way to the toilets I didn't have a place set and there was very little room on the table . Cut a long story short the fridge leaked and the whole of where I was seated was flooded enough for me to take pictures .My feet and bag was wet and so was other members of our party. By the time my meal came to the table I was standing outside in the rain whilst two members of staff were mopping the floor. When I eventually sat down my food was cold . We mentioned this to a member of staff then after our conversation he walked away and said " for f--k sake". We later complained to the manger who asked the member of staff to apologise and the manger apologised also . He then said next time you come we will sort things out for you. Needless to say we paid the bill in full and will not be returning again

We have got takeaway here for a number of years and have told many people how great it is. Really tasty food, one of the best grills around. However, since the refurb it has become very expensive (platter for 2 risen from £27 a couple of years ago to £42) and portions not as generous. I’m afraid it’s going to have to become an occasional treat.

Well me and three friends went there last night (30/09/23). It was very busy and the atmosphere seemed good. We ordered drinks and then a few minutes later, they came and asked if we were ready to order. We weren’t, so the waitress said she’d give us a couple of minutes and would come back. 10 mins later, they hadn’t come back. There is (what should be) a handy little call button on the table. We pressed it…….. 5-10 mins later……. Still waiting….. I pressed it several times and waited……. 5 mins later, still no waitress! So I had to go and find someone to come to the table. To be fair, the waitress did apologise and took our order. The food on the menu said comes with salad, fries or rice. We all picked fries and waited for the meal to come. The “salad” was a 1/4 of a chargrilled tomato and a chargrilled long chilli! I don’t know about you, but that certainly doesn’t equate to a salad in my book! When we had finished the meal, we pressed the “call” button again in order to get the bill. We waited like 10 mins and nobody came! We had to flag a waitress down to get her attention! We asked if the button thing worked, as we’d pressed it several times and had had no response. She was actually a little rude. Now it maybe that they were very busy, or she was just having a bad night, but the four of us weren’t impressed at all. I won’t be going there again as waiting 45 mins to have our food order taken was taking the piss to be honest.

Excellent food and super service. Good choice of authentic Turkish cuisine. Quite busy even at 5pm on a Friday night. Generous portions. £ reasonable £45 for 2 starters, 2 main, and drinks. Would definitely return. Slightly noisy (but it was a weekend).

Prices have steadily increased in past 2 years. Used to be £8-9 for chicken kebab, chips, bread and salad, now it's £15. Quality is still good but prices are too high now

Update 11/09/23 - went for the first time after their refurb and the menu prices had increased so much. A 2 person platter used to be £24 and now it's £42, which is a crazy jump. The refurb does look nice, but I think I'll be eating here less as the value for money isn't as great anymore. Shame __________________________________ 01/04/23 - My favourite place in Nottingham for Turkish food. The platters are amazing value for money. The bread they give you with you meal absolutely amazing 🤌🏼. Highly recommend this place.

Tried the newly refurbished Turkish restaurant, and as we entered, it looked quite swanky. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food was nice and slightly expensive. But you do get free Turkish bread and a decent portion of delicious dips. A freshly made salad also arrived on the table for free. My seafood mixed grill was nice, and it was accompanied by rice/bulgur. The mixed shish had too many chips, but meat was spot on. Iskender shish was delicious, too, but the portion was a little smaller. Somethings on the menu are too pricey.

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The food was excellent so much flavour. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Can't say 1 bad thing about it.

This is the best Turkish restaurant in Nottingham, the food is absolutely amazing, staff are friendly, plenty of seating since their refurbishment. Booking is advised at the weekend as it is always very busy! You always get complimentary bread and dips which is a lovely touch.

We went to Rakki Rakkas last night, a group of 12 of us for my friend's birthday. We arrived at 7 pm and were shown to our table. We were then ignored for 20 minutes. I got up to ask the only waiter upstairs to come to our table so we could order some drinks. He said he was busy sorting a bill but would come to us soon. He eventually came to our table at 7.30 and took our drinks order. Our drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. Then at 7.50 he took our order for food, 50 minutes after we'd arrived!!. We waited a long time for our food to come. 10 plates ariived, the 11th 5 minutes later and the 12th didn't arrive. We pointed this out. 10 minutes later no word so my friend got up to find the waiter and ask were his food was. Waiter came back and said his food would be just a few minutes. His food finally arrived after the rest of us had finished eating!!! I looked around our table. All wine glasses and bottles were empty. Noone came to ask if we would like some more drinks. Crazy. We all did. Or if our food was ok. We eventually ordered 3 more bottles but only 2 turned up. UTTER SHAMBLES. This restaurant does not have enough staff to provide even a basic service. The 12 of us agreed no tip and we also agreed not to make a fuss as we didn't want to spoil our friend's birthday any further. No apology offered. THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. 12 future customers lost.

Found the food to be dry. Small portion aswell. Also the lamb was full of fat no meat.. we got food on our way home as we was still hungry.

Went for dinner to the new remodelled restaurant last night & what a disappointment. We have always gone regularly & been impressed with the food & service. We were sat near the door which was left open because the staff were (understandably) hot, but the new layout means we were cold. The house red which has always been of a good quality & value for money has been changed & now isn't great. Ordered the same dish I usually do - which is normally fantastic however, this time the lamb was overcooked & tasteless (as were the chops my husband had). A lot of the regular staff seem to have gone - maybe the chef too?. A real shame. We will give it another go because it used to be one of the best places to eat in Sherwood & maybe its just teething problems. Hope they sort it out.
