Rainey's 2 in Ards

Just had fish and chips from here. I can honestly say it was the worst fish I have ever had. Good job we had the dogs with us (although even they didn’t finish it). The chips weren’t that bad but that fish … really awful!

First visit here found food very greasy I know order was large but no consistency everyone’s meal not up to standard

Saturday night, four Senior fish and chips delivered spot on time. It was great, friends from London said best they ever had, was really fresh and hot, and loads to eat. Its a treat we must try more often, great value.

We were in Donaghadee for 2 nights and after a 2nd marathon cycle all we wanted was a greasy chip! These guys looked after us so well and were so friendly we can't wait until we come back for another celebratory gravy chip!

Four of us went here for a quick lunch and ended up having an amazing lunch the lady serving us Susan was so much fun but also served great food she treated us very well give us good portions it was hot made fresh to order and all four of us will be back and telling everyone we meet how good it was!!

Love this wee place - great menu with loads of choice and all well priced - fish is especially good - also do specials for pensioners etc so really good value. Always busy and have a few seats outdoors for the better weather.

Twice had good fish & chips (female frying), however the last twice (owner frying) the fish was seriously overcooked (hard and inedible in places), we're using an alternative now but will try again in a couple of months to see if any improvement. I think it's pot luck who's doing the frying.

Small Carryout service primarily fish & chips. The food was excellent the shop was clean neat & tidy, with fast efficient service. Both staff members were extremely busy professional extremely well mannered and friendly. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

Me and my partner went in Last night. Must I say even tho the two girls working were so busy they still made us feel welcome into the shop, I am not one for leaving reviews on places but I wanted to get it out there that they were the best chips we have had in a long time! As much as I loved the food I could only wish for a sit in so I could stay as long next time and talk to the two lovely girls who served me! Will defo be back with a smile on my face

I had my family and friend over for my child’s Birthday party. Raineys catered for my needs in the best manner they possibly could and they served it to perfections. They had it a low cost which helps the matter! This chippy has to be the best chippy in the town with its food and it’s staff. The staff were very friendly in helping me with the details and connecting me with a higher member of staff to help with my order. All the parents and kids at the party were delighted to hear it was Rainey’s and not just Ice land (lol) thanks again Rainey’s I will definitely be back for all my children’s party and I will continue with my Monday and Friday orders!

Speedy service ordering by phone service and a great discount for Seniors. For traditional fish & chips this is the place to go, great friendly quick service with a taste of good carry out to sit on the sea wall for a chat.

Visited Rainey’s recently just as a wee treat for my children have to say we were all very very impressed and will 100 percent be back !!

The staff here obviously cater for deaf people quite a lot as all customers were shouted at during the course of my visit and the young assistant even queried whether I was qualified for a Pensioners meal. The place is the size of a telephone box and the unfriendly staff make it a place to visit only as a last resort. As chip shops go- it's distinctly average- and not the place to hang around in but you will have to as they are slow as well as unfriendly.

I had the best chippy I've ever had in here. 2 stars on the door mean NOTHING! Staff were amazing the younger staff are definitely out to please I could not recommend this chippy enough, also would like to comment on how clean the shop was and this was during a busy dinner time on Friday. 5/5 will defo be back

I really like this Chippy. The food is great. The one thing thats not up to standard is the telephone manner of the staff when you phone in an order. I know some of them are young but if they are going to get anywhere in business they should learn curiosity and manners. They dont take your name for the order. You have to ask how long it wil be to collect. No please or thank you. Perhaps some staff training would help resolve this. When you call and collect the order the older member of staff is friendly and helpful. So a little training for the young ones please to enhance the overall customer experience would be appreciated . Afterall .. It is the best Fish and Chip shop in Donaghadee so please try.. you will love the food.

Food was greasy. Unappetising. Hygiene non existent. Scored 2. Was put at bottom of door so only a dog could see it. Became ill after eating a small portion of their food. Stay clear. Staff more interested in gossiping than cleaning or their customers.

Noticed that the Score on the Door for hygiene is a 2. I've never seen a 2 before anywhere. They have hidden right at the bottom of the door and folded over, which I suppose you can't blame them for as its hardly a glowing accreditation. Food not great. Blonde haired woman does her best to represent the place well - nice to customers etc but can't say that about the other woman. I don't appreciate hearing gossip about other customers as they walk out the door. I also don't appreciate the bad language - but there you go. Really brings the tone down and makes you wonder what she says about you when you leave. Portion wise not the worst but a tad too greasy. Saying that its nice they have a table outside in warmer weather and that adds to the place. Too bad about the gossiping/swearing woman because apart from that, the other things are workable. Gets rated a 2, although to be fair it looked clean enough when I was in. Youngsters who work there are pretty nice and always eager to please. Could improve and if it does, with its central location it could be a nice enough wee eating place when travelling down the coast on my rounds.

Came here with my family today food was ok but have to say the women who were serving were disgusting talking bout the customers when they left and standing cursing in front of the customers who were waiting for there food felt really uncomfortable and wont be back

Bought a scampi supper and a sausage supper last. I can't complain at all as the food was lovely, portion sizes are fantastic, staff are friendly and the shops clean.

Always guaranteed hot, freshly made chips! Staff friendly and efficient. Most definitely the best chippy in the town.

At last I have found a chip shop that sells traditional pasties! None of the 'new age - keep up with the burgers' rubbish that contain red dye and are as flat as a pancake! Rainey's are the original chunky pasties with good sausage meat ingredients that were a delight to find - and I've searched through scores of other 'so-called' chippies! Please please don't ever change the way you make these pasties!

I ordered two snack boxes from here last Friday and I may as well have thrown my tenner in the bin along with the box meals as that's were they went. I wouldn't even have fed them to the local seagulls.

The fish served here is the most fresh,sweet,and juicy in the town!,the batter is crispy and delicious,and the staff are always very friendly.

Fish was bland, some chips soggy and overcooked, others not cooked enough (two different batches???) Scallops were the worst I've ever had - I actually thought they were just dressed up potato they were that bad Staff were friendly, though.

Although this is only a carryout the food is very good. There is plenty of selection to suit everyone and served by friendly staff. Allow a little extra time if ordering fish as this is cooked fresh and is well worth the wait. This is only a small establishment with a couple of tables on the footpath outside during the better weather. The prices, quantity and quality are excellent and well worth a visit.

Tiny chippie. Very greasy food. Ordered a curry chip. Couldn't tell if it was curry or gravy as it was so bland. Unfriendly staff and not the cleanest place I've eaten in.

Donaghadee is a pleasant place to visit and go for a walk to the lighthouse or along the Common’s. In good weather we enjoy getting to Rainey’s 2 (on High Street) to get a sausage and chip and eat them on the pier or on a bench beside the Parade. The chip shop (takeaway not sit-in) is popular and their fried food is fresh and crisp. Worth a trip – especially as there are ice cream shops near-by.
