Rainbow Thai, Malaysia & Chinese Cuisine in Aberdeenshire

Me and my Dead by daylight Comp Team (SIGMA) Where strolling through this town and spotted a 'rainbow chinese' And then we realised is this Feng min from dbd?? If you don't get this reference "Feng min" is a playable survivor in DBD from China. This was a great chuckle with the SIGMA team! We decided to head in and order a Feng min special. I could almost taste the bloodpoints that were coming out of this meal! Great DBD Chinese 10/10 reccomend!!

Vegan crispy duck was actually nice but no sauce was provided for the pancakes, and the main dish was poor quality food, I wouldn't eat here again

We were in a self catering guest house and had a couple of take aways in Insch. The Rainbow Chinese had an amazing choice of very authentic Chinese, Thai and Malaysian food. Portions are large and the rice and noodle dishes are enough for 2 people. A tiny bit on the pricey side, but worth it in our opinion.

I just had the worst takeaway ever. My fried bean sprouts was all noodles with about 6 bean sprouts. Our beansprout chowmein was all noodles with lack of beansprouts again. Our spring rolls were all dough, very little filling, all dough and very greasy. Alot of unhappy diners tonight. Very very disappointing for having paid over £60. Will not be using this place again 😒😡

Good food, duck chow main is really good so is the sweet and sour chicken balls with noodles, hard to get through on the phone as it is so busy but worth the wait

Food good, reasonably priced. Didn't have to wait too long for it to be prepared. Have been back several times. Cash only though.

I’m on a low carb low sugar diet, fancied chinese but not sure what to have. Called and spoke with (I Think) Leon and he did dish for me that was perfect and Delicious!! They sure go that extra mile!!

We use this takeaway every other month or so because it’s a 20 mile round trip for a Chinese if we don’t and that’s the only reason. The food is satisfyingly average but consistent. Never had a ‘bad’ dish although some could do with a touch of refinement. The usual orders of ‘what you know’ dishes like beef curry, chicken balls and chicken fried rice are what keeps us going back but divert from the mainstay to dishes like honey chilli chicken or crispy chilli beef and it becomes very generic and those style of dishes taste the same with the strips being clumped together. My last order included bbq spare ribs which are pieces 1 - 2 inches and were essentially bone and cartilage with very little meat, however, the sauce is superb to pour over rice. The price of dishes is somewhat higher than other Chinese takeaways with an average meal for 3-4 costing around the £35 - £40 mark. Probably due to the fact that no other surrounding takeaways deliver to the village giving them a captive market. All in all, very average but pricey in comparison.

Fancied a Chinese tonight with my wife , we decided on chicken balls with sides of curry sauce and sweet and sour sauce with fried rice and spare ribs Sweet and sour so vinegar based and the curry was more Indian than Chinese. The spare ribs were disgusting swimming in fat. I’m sorry but I will never be back!

Waited 45 minutes for my food to then be given the wrong order and then having to wait even longer to get my correct order, in result I sat for 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting for my food. Never had an issue with the food and it’s always good but I wouldn’t say it’s worth waiting over an hour for. Really not happy with the waiting times

Always good food here. Never any problems and a great little local takeaway. Staff and service always fine.

Just ordered gluten free dairy free dextrose free!!!! Wow so accommodating and helpful. Food tastes great. Extremely hard to find a take away to go that extra mile. Very happy and would recommend to anyone. Just explain dietary requirements before ordering.

Don’t know if we hit a bad night but this meal was less than average. All the prawn crackers tasted of was oil. The barbecue spare ribs were tough. I think a prawn might just have glimpsed at the sesame seed prawn toast. The chicken satay skewers were bland and served in a thin watery “sauce “. I could go on, but enough said. Judging by the other reviews, I think it must have been a bad night for them, but I won’t be using them again any time soon. D. Noble Auchleven

Nice food of a high standard. Usually very quick despite it being very busy at the weekend. Only complaint is that they’re very stingy with sauces in their main meals. Could do with a delivery service.

Local Chinese restaurant. Always great food, always great service - sometimes busy but thats always a good sign!

A good honest little take away for a small village. Never had a bad meal from here and usually pretty speedy. Huge choice of menu and it seems fresh.

Never had a bad meal from here, salt n pepper chicken is good, the chow meins are good, ducks good chicken n cashew nuts id all reccomend. Only bad point and is why im giving it 4 and not 5 is the fact they dont sell juice

We regularly eat here. Always busy and worth ordering ahead. Large portions and good value for money.

Really good food for a village takeaway. Open until fairly late. Give it a try. Recommend the crispy aromatic duck.

Absolutely awful customer service, male employee on till refused to accept responsibility for not writing down our order correctly and for us not receiving 2 portions of payed for food! This has happened on two occasions, do not reccomend, the quality of the food isn’t great either.

Everything I have had so far from this Chinese has been really good. Reasonably priced. James behind the till is great. One thing that's slighttly annoying is there is no juice sold here and you need to go to the shop.

Always use this Chinese they are excellent. Staff are brilliant and the food is excellent and portions are large.

Got a number of different items from the menu tonight and the food was of great quality and tasted great! I would highly recommend this place.

Friendly staff nd the place seems clean and hygienic. The food is usually very quick to come out and I can't say I've very had a problem with it.

I ordered food from here and was informed my order would take 45 minutes so we took are time travelling there. When we did arrive 45 minutes later it was a good five minutes until the very grumpy server acknowledged us and then a further twenty minutes until our food was ready. considering I had a further 15 minutes to travel home to a now very hungry and irritated family a true waiting time would have been appreciated. I will not be visiting again because of this!

We have ordered Food from here on a number of occasions. We found the staff friendly and the good delicious. When you phone to place your order (they don't deliver) they tell you when your order should be ready for collection.

Get takeaway from here on a regular basis. Always good and not expensive. Best to phone in your order as it gets very busy, a 45 minute to 1 hour timescale is not unusual at the weekend. But worth it. Recommend the Singapore noodles and the crispy fried shredded beef or chicken.

We always to to Double Happiness at Kennethmont but it is closed for two weeks holiday so thought we would try Rainbow at Insch as it is apparently owned by the same people. The similarity ends there as they are miles apart with quality. The Chicken Maryland had the chips in the carton directly underneath the chicken - when I opened the carton and took the chicken off, the chips were like mush and covered in grease, not even cooked properly. The chips should be crispy but they were absolutely disgusting. The Hong Kong chicken is nothing like the same dish that we order from Kennethmont - the one tonight tasted more like chilli than sweet and sour. We phoned to give them our constructive criticism but they need some customer service training - a million miles below the level of service at Double Happiness. A word of advice - go to Kennethmont instead as you won't be disappointed.

Plenty to choose from and if you have any food preferences they do their best to help. My Husband and I have regular trip to this Take away and are always happy with our meals

Sometimes it's amazing.. Sometimes it's pretty average! The quality seems to have dipped a fair bit in the last couple of months. Excellent menu, really varied with lots of soya/tofu based vegetarian options

This is our regular take away treat can't fault the food or service. Portions are huge and the prawn crackers are great. Can phone in your order and always ready on time great take away in Insch

We have had several takeaways from here and have been really please every time. I think they could improve on the watery satay sauce but other than that it's really fine and we always look forward to supper from here!

Have bought a few takeaways from here as we used to eat from their kennethmont branch. However have decided not to go back as the last few times the chicken in the chicken dishes have looked and tasted like stringy old chicken. We also think they use the same sauce for various dishes and just throw in different veggies.

Excellent food and very large menu choice. Always fast and friendly. Would recommend for a good night odd from cooing.

Love this place plenty food per portion and its my fav place to eat here 😊 was over the moon when they came to Insch and the owner and staff are delightful recommend highly

So good to get such great take-out food. We have gone here a few times since it opened and the quality is always great. We have tried a few different things from the menu and have never been disappointed with anything.

Used the takeaway a couple of times, delighted with all aspects, from phone call to picking up food, king Prawn 😄😄😄😄. Great stuff having a great take away short distance away.

I really enjoy the food here but I have been three times and been outraged at their service. After phoning you will be told that food will be ready from anything from 25-50 mins. That's fine all restaurants have busy times especially at the weekend. But you get there at the time you've been given and then pay and are asked to take a seat. I have waited up to 45 mins before after being on time. This is ridiculous! I had friends up from Glasgow to see me and this ate into our night together terribly. Not to mention when you work full time sitting in a Chinese, hungry, on your night off it not how you want to spend your free time.

Having waited months for this chinese to open I'm glad to say that it was worth it. Rainbow finally opened its doors last Novemebr in Insch and after several visits I'm pleased to say the food and the friendliness of the staff have more than met our expectations. The only slight down side was having to wait for our food for over an hour one Saturday evening. However after being in the weekend just past it seems they have an extra pair of hands in the kitchen and things are moving more smoothly. Personal favourite dishes include Malaysian chow mein, crispy shredded chilli beef and salt and pepper chicken. Great all round.

Very good food but was told 50minutes over the phone went in after 50 minutes and was kept waiting another 45 minutes was the same the time before over 1 and a half hours wait come on

Could not make the Free Food Night on opening Sunday :-(

Tried Rainbow out for first time and ordered by phone first. Very helpful and polite service, with suggestions made to try out as only recently opened. Open 6 days a week and cash only currently but plenty local ATM's convenient.
