Poor beer average service and. No atmosphere for a Friday night It has seriously gone downhill from the popular venue it once was.

Had meal Saturday early evening. Walked in lounge was so dark Could only see menu as we were sat by window Other guests were actually using there phone torches. Also a group of 15 to 20 young men totally dominated the lounge shout geering whooping. Could not have conversation. Other people were leaving as we did as soon as we finished our meal .very disappointed for early evening

When we came beer garden was closed due to safety issues (no win no fee) Also very quiet probaly due to the beer garden being closed Had food which was ok and reasonably priced

My partner and I stopped in here for a pint after a nice stroll around Penarth, and we're so glad we did! We ended up staying for food and another drink because we were pleasantly surprised with the vegan options (especially the desserts, a lot of places barely have 2 vegan options). Our food arrived SUPER fast, the service was lovely, and everything tasted great. I had the Coconut Thai Vegetable Curry with extra crispy chicken fillet, my partner had the Vegan Bombay burger followed by the Sticky Toffee Sponge Pud with non-dairy ice cream. All delicious, reasonably priced, and I can highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be returning for some 2 for 1 cocktails! 😄 P.S. The toilets were lovely and clean too. 👍🏻

Beer garden was not open on a sunny day. We did not have food just a quick pint while waiting on a train.

I've not eaten here so can't comment on the food (though what I've seen looks good). Great traditional style pub with nice staff and a decent range of beers. Great location in penarth with a handy beer garden if the weather is suitable

Perfect all round...staff were brilliant, even took my Granddaughters burger back because she has an allergy to dairy and it had cheese on it...food was delicious and plentiful...I hadn't been in this place since 2007 and was glad to see it still had the Pool Table and dartboard...but only one Cubicle for toilets was disappointing...99% in total

Popped in for the first time in a couple of years. Peroni was so so, I've had better pints. Menu was uninspiring so played safe and both my husband and I had the cheese and bacon burger. Pretty dry and tasteless. I didn't finish my pint of Peroni as it had gone very flat and tepid. I don't think that we'll be back in a hurry. Disappointed from Dinas Powys.

Great pub for a beer and a snack

Went out for a family meal. Embarrassed by the vile language behind the kitchen, discussing their genitals. Should be ashamed when it's children in the restaurant. Food was nice for a microwave meal. Got notified when we went up to order that the oven wasn't working and half the kids menu was not available

We went to Railway pub to celebrate birthday and met Oskar. He was ever so polite, and nothing was a problem for him. Excellent customer service. Look forward to the new menu.

I don't usually write reviews, that being said the service from Thomas Barnibus Adams was top notch. A true master of his craft the beers were flying to me like as if Zeus himself had ordered them. The tears are like a river down my face as I post this review, tears of Joy. Thank you so much Mr Adams !

Tom Barnaby Adam’s has done it again. He had delivered my food to my table with sensational precision. He was that fast, my sausage was still oinking. Sonic the hedgehog? More like Tom the hedgehog. Beautiful display of hospitality

Food was average and the atmosphere was average for a busy pub

Saturday at 8pm, very quite. Great service. Great beer and wi e in cool glasses and branded glasses. 👍

Visited today for a meal with friends. The place was freezing as they keep the back door to the beer garden open and no heating. We had to go outside after our meal as it was warmer outside. The meal was terrible, my partner and I had hunters chicken which was small no bacon and the cheese was grated on top and had been melted sufficiently. Very disappointed and won't be visiting again.

Hardly anything left on the menu, 4 out of 6 of us had to pick again. There was only one vegetarian option remaining, which we ended up sending back as not cooked properly. All the staff were very apologetic, and refunded the vegetarian meal no problem. Kids meals were nice.

Booked table for mothers day with my family. When we had decided what to eat and went to bar to order was told there was hardly anything on the menu. No Sunday dinners and just a few random items left. This was at half past two in the afternoon and like I said it was Mothers day. Totally unacceptable and totally ruin mine and my daughters Mothers day. Needless to say wouldn't go there again and certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Welcomed us in to a full pub watching 6N rugby. Found us a corner with a TV so husband coukd watch football instead! Staff really welcoming and friendly. Food decent pub grub. Recommended

Penarth Phab Club had a great Christmas meal at The Railway on 4th December. The manager was very helpful with the preorders from the Festive Menu for 20 people. Our tables were decorated and our meals arrived hot and well cooked. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A big thank you to you all for giving us a very happy evening.

We had our baby shower here and I can honestly say I will never be booking anything with them again. We were forced out even tho we had the tables till 6pm as stated my the manger. 2 days before our baby shower the manager informed us that he had moved us to a different location in the restaurant which was not big enough for our party at all. When we stressed our concern, management didn't care at all. We later returned to the pub/restaurant to give it a second chance but unfortunately they got my food order wrong and when I went to the bar to tell them, I was told by a very rude member of staff that they wouldn't not change it. His attitude was disgusting, luckily the chef overheard and came and changed it for me. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have got what I paid for. Management really need to pull their fingers out of their backsides. Need major improvements!!!

This is a take off of a bad Weatherspoons I booked a table for 3 for lunch and after a huff n puff of being told they were not serving any food they finally agreed that I had booked a table and therefor qualified to choose and eat off their standard menu, which was the worst menu I have ever had to choose from. Service was quick and the beers good

Been going to the Railway over 10 years usually Saturday evenings. Nice pub with friendly landlord and helpful staff. One moan - removed jukebox a few months ago (which is fair enough) but now seem to play generic sounding music. Usually don't recognise any songs played - feel more varied music would improve atmosphere.

Haven't been here for years, not changed to much, service was good, plenty of choice of beers etc, beer garden was tidy

My favourite nostalgic local hideout had my ups and downs here, staff and landlord always fantastic, chefs are great and always present a homely feel, if I'd to visit with a friend I'd always take them down the tracks to the railway

Walked in off the street, straight to the bar and the staff were there immediately. Ordered a mixed grill and a pint. Food (which was substantial) was on the table within 7 minutes. The guy who served me was ace. He floated around the all tables checking all ok but not in a in your face way.

Had Sunday roast there last weekend. The food was excellent, really tasty. We all had the Pork roast. Service was quick too. We'll be back 😊

Just moved back to penarth and I've been eating here twice a day, fantastic food I can't fault it, service from Jess, Olly and Matt is exceptional! Would recommend highly to anyone who wants cheap drinks and food along with great friendly bar staff!

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff are also really friendly... you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority! Food is pretty good and a special mention to Jess, as she went above and beyond to ensure my daughter had plenty of choice (despite dietry requirements) - I could not recommend this place enough, especially for their prices it’s 100% worth it. We will definitely be returning!

Reasonably local to me, you can have a good range of drinks or some nice (and decent sized) pub meals at The Railway. Would love a Stowfords (or any of the Westons range) in addition to the wide range of drinks currently available! 😋
