Quick & Plenty Cafe in Edinburgh, City of

Nice spot for breakfast. TBH the UK breakfasts were not my cup of tea (get it?) but this place had very nice waffles. Great people watching windows and friendly prompt service.

This spot is the best to go to at lunchtime also in the early morning hot fashion too and also the location is perfect for uni students

We rocked up at this cafe fresh off the plane from Belfast. To say it wasn’t what we were expecting was an understatement. It was tiny wee greasy spoon that looked like it could’ve been someone’s living room. On entering the cafe we were welcomed by a fella behind the counter in great form having a bit of craic with everyone in the cafe. Fair enough, the cafe filled in the space of five minutes and things started getting a bit tight for Johnny. Two men who looked like they were in their 30s when Edinburgh Castle was built (in the nicest way possible) arrived in for their breakfast, and were quickly put to clearing tables by an overworked Johnny. Turns out it was Johnnys da and Uncle Jimmy (who had adorned a pair of paint caked tracksuit bottoms and one singular woollen glove). They came in for their breakfast but ended up with a breakfast shift instead. To say the craic was absolute 90 in the cafe is an understatement. Johnny was absolutely unfazed by his breakfast rush and carried on serving food and having banter with the full cafe. If we needed sugar, sauce etc it was no problem, he just called over to the table who had it at the time and it was quickly passed around by the patrons. The full bellies and positive atmosphere set us up for the rest of our trip. Couldn’t recommend enough, well done Johnny (and Johnnys dad and Uncle Jimmy) keep doing what you’re doing!

This little cafe is a joke. Literally! Food was cold and wasn't properly cooked. We get cheap instant coffee included in small breakfast. And owners crazy story about Titanic and Jk Rowling are ridiculous. Before we left owner name Johny said " guys if you leave a good review I'll give you sweet treat on the house. I'm sorry but I can't leave a good review after we saw condition of the cafe and quality of the food. No wonder why people leaving positive reviews if they get free sweets. Sorry pal doesn't work with me.

Not sure how this place has received all of the positive feedback! After reading all of the reviews on here we decided to take the 40 min walk for a good breakfast. Disappointed is an understatement- food was nice and the lady who served us was very friendly , but sorry to say the cafe needs a complete overhaul - gutting and a deep clean!

Really great atmosphere, it is very snug and the booths are small but i never felt uncomfortable with the seating. The food was delicious, eating here was my first time trying haggis and it set the bar high, and the fried egg was of the nicest I've had in a while The staff were friendly, welcoming, and really helped pick up from our hangovers. I would definitely make a point of going back next time I visit Edinburgh.

The food was surprisingly good. The bacon cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever had! The chips are homemade, and so good. The staff was very friendly, and made you feel like an old friend. You shouldn’t doubt for one second about stopping for a meal here.
