Queen Adelaide and Dragon in Epsom and Ewell

Great looking pub which has had a makeover recently. Went in for dinner yesterday and found it was a new menu- had the beef mac and cheese and some starters absolutely fantastic and the bar staff were friendly and had good knowledge of the menu. We will definitely be back!

Made very welcome by Amy, who although busy served us all (a group of 8) in a good time. The food was "standard pub fare" but at the top end of that (not a complaint!). The beer was good. Amy was cheerful and we all had a convivial time (lunch time)

Nice looking pub , food was dire, mixed grill uneaten , food quality was poor meat all tough and inedible , chicken on the lunchtime deal had an awful taste and couldn’t eat it , no check back on food no interaction from the bar lady when clearing nigh on full plates ? Put off in the first instance by bar lady always on her phone and picking at her neck . Can honestly say we will never be back to this or any other ember in a pub. Total waste of time and money on what should have been an enjoyable lunch .

Wasn't a great experience, booked online for the family. On arrival, we found our table, sat ourselves down, and started to look at the menu. My partner headed to the bar to order drinks, and we started to look at the menu's for food. As it was a Sunday we fancied a roast diner, a few of us ordered something called a Sunday Duo as this stated on the menu 'can't decide which roast to have? Why not enjoy our Sunday selection of gammon and half roast chicken'. With roast potatoes, fresh roasted root vegetables, steamed greens, stuffing wrapped in bacon and a rich gravy. Sounded great. Until it turned up. The Sunday Duo, didn't come with the so called half a chicken as stated on the menu, it was a small leg, there was no stuffing wrapped in bacon, and the gravy as a gravy boat which was for the table which we had to share. Which the table ran out off, so we had to ask for more, as 3 plates had no gravy. When we asked the staff member about the so called menu, and the Sunday Duo half a chicken, he said he will ask his manager. On his return, he sadi the manager the leg of chicken is the correct portion size for what we ordered. Still in shock that we didn't get no gravy and no Stuffing Wrapped in Bacon. And only a small chicken leg, advertised as half a chicken. This was a very disappointing Sunday meal out with the family. Don't trust the menu as you don't know what you will end up with. The Sunday Duo, a chicken leg (Not half a chicken), no Gravey, and no Stuffing wrapped in Bacon as stated on the menu. As the manager said this is what the Portion is. The Manager didn't even want to came over and talk about the menu, just allowed the staff member to explain the bad sizing of the food.

The steak was exactly how I asked for it and the waiter was extremely helpful and well mannered but I ordered a mixed grill which came with the tiniest chicken breast which was evidently one cut in half and my peppercorn sauce was only just over half full and didn’t taste like your usual peppercorn sauce the peas looked like they cooked some hours before let them dry out and then added them into my freshly cooked ones I must reiterate that the staff were amazing

Our first visit (and probably our last), we only went here because Toby carvery was fully booked. Very disappointing food (Plated roast), poor quality, and not much of it, items missing from what was listed on the menu, stuffing balls wrapped in bacon were burnt black. It clearly stated "half" roast chicken and gammon on the menu, but we were presented with an extremely tiny chicken leg and 2 x slices (small) of gammon, all served with a small selection of veg. I've seen bigger children's meals!, when we questioned the portions, we were told its a printing error and it should be a chicken portion, not half?? However I insisted that what was on the printed menu is what I ordered and that is what I expected and paid for!, reluctantly we were given another piece of chicken each. I felt sorry for the young sever who had to keep relaying our concerns to the female manager, who incidentally failed to attend our table at any point. And just to add we were extremely calm and courteous to the staff so we just expected the same in return.

Had mixed grill & half a chicken. Service was quick, cutlery was brought out with crumpled up napkins. Food brought out and nothing was asked if we needed anything else. Was not asked if food was all ok and 1 plate was taken away before we both finished. Last plate taken away and was not asked if we wanted desert. Bit disappointed

I decided to go to The Adelaide to see how the refurbishment went. On entering the bar I saw that the seating area was more open and seemed more spacious. Newly decorated with some excellent framed photos of Epsom on the walls. Service at the bar was friendly and the beers were excellent. I ordered the half roast chicken, which was delicious, served piping hot and on a warm plate. A most enjoyable visit and I look forward to returning again in the near future.

Went a couple of weeks ago with a friend and the food was good. Went today with the family and the food was very disappointing. My chicken, bacon and avocado wrap had to be sent back. The wrap was like leather and the chicken, what there was of it, was dry and pretty tasteless. The salad inside had seen better days and was presented in thick chunks with no dressing. I had exactly the same dish previously and it was delicious. The staff were good though and didn’t charge for the chicken wrap dish and also gave us a free pudding. The kids meals were good, although not all menu items were available. A couple of dishes on the set menu were indifferent. Soggy and slimy battered mushrooms and rather greasy battered haloumi. Chips and bbq chicken wings on the set menu were good as was the macaroni cheese and sticky toffee pudding. Hopefully today was down to bad day in the kitchen. Food aside, the recent refurbishment has smartened the place up and the staff seem friendly and polite. I’ll try visiting again in a few weeks and maybe these teething problems will have been ironed out.

Popped in to see the live band, "Off the Rails". Really friendly atmosphere, great staff and well-kept beer. We did not eat this visit, but it all looked good. The band were great, and it is so good to see a pub that has live music. I noticed that they have an open-mic night, last Thursday of the month, long may it continue.

Another great night at the Shindig with a large attendance on 29th August Good food and beer and a wide selection of music.

Lovely late lunch/early dinner. Plenty of choice on menu and food arrived swiftly and piping hot. Ample portion sizes. Compliments to the chef.

Had lunch with my colleagues was serviced by a boy called Ollie he was delightful his service was AMAZING! We’re coming back here again just for Ollie. For a newbie who started in February 2024 he’s incredible.

Since it has become a Migrant Hotel It really has gone down hill

They didn’t have what I initially ordered so I had the Shepard's pie. It was awful and tasted nothing like a shepherd’s pie with possibly 5% meat content. I was told it came with vegetables, it had a small portion of cabbage and a few pieces of leek.

Me and my wife were there last weekend just gone as came down from Newcastle the staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic Thanks guys

Not sure what happened in the kitchen today but we were served what smelt like gone off gammon with cold, soggy roast potatoes and veg. My family each ordered a burger and they were cooked within an inch of it's life and not cuttable, let alone edible. We were the only customers eating in there at the time so it doesn't really make sense as to why half was burnt and half was cold. Would it not make sense to cook it fresh? When I raised this with the bar staff they told me I was wrong and that the food was fine and proceeded to argue with me. The chef then appeared and started shouting at us saying the food was delivered fresh this morning and she had "sold loads today" - it was 1pm and we were one of 2 tables eating... Hmm... I think someone is telling lies. The whole interaction was dealt with so badly. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend eating here. I certainly won't be back. EDIT: The response from the manager should tell you all you need to know. Argumentative bunch!

I am so disappointed with my visit today the food was good I won't lie and the young girl who served us was very nice. Sadly as we were sitting and eating with my mother in law who we come to see often and usually eat here, I can only assume 2 of their regular drinkers came and sat down and turned the large TV on above the heads of 4 ladies who were sitting directly under the TV and us to the side of it with the volume very loud. They didn't ask anyone dining if that was ok and the staff did not ask them to turn it off. The 4 ladies had to get up and move and we complained loudly and were just ignored so we to had to move tables. We then heard a customer complain about the food and was told basically there was nothing wrong with it, well as a customer facing worker this is not how you treat your customers,the worker then proceeded to tell her drinking customers about the complaint. I assume this pub just likes its drinking regulars so maybe just be a pub. Our time with my mother in law was completely spoiled and not one member of management addressed the fact but when asked by their drinking customers to turn the music off they did so very quickly. We stopped coming once before because of bad service and sadly we will not be returning again.

Decided to have few drinks with friends for my 60th. Great band Lord John Band. The Buffet was excellent & staff & music great.

Tara was the BEST! Outstanding service, so kind and kept checking on us to see if we were all okay. Loved my burger too thanks tara xxxx

Visited this pub and had amazing service from Tara and the rest of the team, food was 10/10 had a good Sunday Roast with a range of alcoholic drinks. Would recommend everyone to pay a visit and will definitely come back for more. Amazing Pub!!

Definitely a top tier pub compared to others in a 2 mile radius. Best drink prices I have found. I like the fact that the pub can have really relaxed vibes but then have amazing events like the Shindig on the last Thursday of every month which brings a community of great people together. The staff are very attentive and run by an excellent manager. One of my favourite pubs in this area

We had the mushroom starter, it was perfectly cooked with sour cream. The roasts were huge! Just a wee bit salty for me, but we took our doggy bags home. The staff are lovely and helpful, I would definitely recommend this pub

Possibly not the best time to review this pub, very early lunch time visit. Ordered a light lunch of chicken tikka wrap, arrived promptly, was hot and the skinny chips were crisp and hot. Cooked well, have eaten at the Adelaide before and toe food has always been good. It's a big pub and struggles at times to get a good atmosphere, Staff are polite and helpful.

Staying at The Orchid Hotel (next-door) for 2 nights - work. I've been spending time in this pub in the evenings. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, obviously passionate about the service they provide. The beer on offer is perfect and reasonably priced as is the food. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time here.

Nice boozer. Service was good. Plenty of space to chat. Nice decor. Did not have food. But easy to sit and have a pint.

It fwas quiet but the waitress and staff were so polite and even put my unfinished dinner in a great doggie bag for me. I had the mixed roast dinner and the portions were a good size. The mixed fruit crumble was the most delicious home made crumble ive had in ages with quality fresh fruit. Quiet atmosphere where we could talk relaxing 2 hours there. Thank you to kind waitress, i left a small tip and her eyes and face lit up. She deserved it and working sundays on little money its good some gratitude and kindness.

We have driven past many times and one Sunday we decided to give it a try for the Sunday roast starting at £13+ and we were impressed with the size of the premises, how spacious the seating was and we tried, the gammon/chicken roast, and it was good. So much that we are thinking of going there again and thinking of Christmas Dinner. 🎄.

The food is microwave food. Heated up, not really cooked. However it's nice tasty food and it's a very reasonable priced, the drinks are also a good price and staff very cheerful and helpful.

if possible to give less stars i would ,came for a job interview ,came on the date and time which was said,got here and asked for amy at the bar as she message on indeed to say she will be here ,i fact wasn’t here and i asked for her so a colleague called her,was then told “ interviews were for last saturday and all positions have been filled” even though i was messaged this wednesday for the job and now it’s the saturday 3 days later which isn’t past a week
