Purple Olive in Cheshire West and Chester

Just had a impromptu visit to purple olive and wow was not disappointed. Popped on the app when 15min away booked a table straight away no problem. Turned up and although busy was seated quickly and was impressed already. Service was extremely quick and attentive with multiple servers active across the restaurant. Food was absolutely FANTASTIC, the best Indian we have ever had, and we've had many. The price was also fantastic, and I would say under priced for how good it was. If I was local I could see myself here allot. Definitely try this gem of a Indian restaurant in little Sutton.

We ordered a takeaway from her several months ago and it was terrible, I had a chicken pathia and it was bland and tasteless, however we recently ate in the restaurant and it was excellent so against my better judgment we decided to give it another go so we ordered a takeaway, big mistake it was as bad as last time, remembering how bland the pathia was last time I made a special request for it to be spicy which shouldn’t be necessary as a pathia is meant to be spicy anyway, made no difference it was as bland as a korma minus the sweetness, I would recommend eating in the restaurant because the food is better, why this should be I’ve no idea though the portions are small, but I would avoid ordering a takeaway like the plague, small portions bland and tasteless, you could genuinely knock up a better curry yourself

I tried to contact Purple olive several times but each time got the message 'Error Please Resubmit' So I thought I would post it here My wife, myself and our daughter ordered a takeaway last night. We have have ordered from Purple Olive before and always been pleased. However this time, I was disappointed. I had chicken biriyani and it seemed to me to have been a previously prepared meal that had been reheated. It wasn't hot, just warm, unlike previous orders, the chicken was not quite as tender as usual. Even the accompanying sauce seemed to be mostly tinned tomatoes with some onion. No curry flavour at all. Even the poppadoms were not quite as good as usual. They were crisp in places but beginning to soften at the edges which again suggests to me that they had been standing for a while. My wife and daughter felt that their meals were okay. My wife was violently ill this morning, but,of course, that can't be directly attributed to the meal she had. All in all, I think we will be trying a different restaurant next time, even though we have previously had good experiences at Purple Olive

Good menu, nice setting food ok but the staff unprofessional having visited the restaurant for a Christmas party they started cleaning/vacuuming around us while we were still eating our food! Won’t be returning!

Hadn't booked so took our chance on a Friday Night to get a table for 2. The warning signs were there when we were sat in the waiting area surrounded by kids running up and down but we still persisted (convinced that they would be out of the premises by 9pm). The staff did a great job of humouring us whilst we had several children run up and down, and around our table, and the food was as ever quite brilliantly delicious. Wanted to stay a bit longer but we are well passed the kids' party stage, and didn't expect it to run that late. Asked for some of the food to be bagged for a takeout (did not want to waste that delicious grub!!) but even managed to leave that on the table in our haste to get out of the place. We'll be back, but perhaps on a more mature evening ;)

On positive note food excellent. Summary of disappointing elements : Toilet seat hanging off..not a good image Frequent alarm sound, which staff reported were telephone orders coming in. Not conducive to relaxing conversation over pleasant meal. Service very quick, giving no time for digestion between courses. Ask for break if you prefer leisurely experience Plenty of staff but no coordination..we were asked 3 times within 2 minutes if we wanted more drinks, as 1 glass on table empty. Which is efficient 1st time but after 3rd time not. Similarly shortly after starting mains one senior looking staff member came to ask if everything ok..which is appreciated..however literally on his tail a younger member came behind and asked same question 30 seconds later. Number of Seats ripped or stained. Not the overall pleasant experience it used to be.

Delicious food , nice and hot on arrival at our house Generous portions , very tasty. Cash only for home delivery.

Word of warning. Normally eat in here and always enjoyed the food. Ordered a delivery last night. Chicken pakora, chicken karaoke and mushroom pilau. Half hour after eating was in terrible pain and vomiting all night with upset stomach. Can only assume it was the food as I was well up until eating. Sadly this has put me off eating from here again😞.

This is a lovely restaurant for meeting up with family and friends . Food is always exceptionally good !. The staff are very friendly and helpful at all times . We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and can't fault it in any way .

We have visited here many times as it’s our local restaurant ,we will not be returning the service tonight was terrible and to finish the meal off i wa offered 10% off £6 which didn’t compansate .

Food was over 45mins late ordered online asked for a 7.30 delivery. When finally arrived it was cold I had to heat up in microwave. Hardly any meat in one of the meals. Wnt be ordering again.

Without a doubt, THE nicest Indian food I have eaten in 53 years. The Thawa was sublime, the Korma for my 84 year old mum was a huge hit. I had the Green Balti Garlic Chicken. I have never tasted anything as lovely. No knives were needed to eat. We also found the Olive Special Rice with Cashews, Almonds and Pistachios is amazing I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Many thanks to the staff for making an important nigh even more special.

Ordered their bbq banquet for 4 people. Plenty of lovely marinated meats, came with salad and dips. Everyone really enjoyed it.

We found the Purple Olive as we were staying at the nearby Inglewood Manor for a wedding the following day. As I have mentioned on other reviews, when I visit a new Indian or Bangladeshi restaurant I always order a lamb bhuna as this is the bench mark I use. My wife order chicken tikka Ceylon. Poppadoms were our only starter ordered. The poppadoms arrived quickly and the accompanying dips/chutneys were delicious. The restaurant was busy, with most tables occupied and two large parties in for birthday parties. We were kept up to date with our mains orders and the attentive waiters made sure we had drinks replenished when we required. When the mains arrived they were perfect. Both dishes were the right size portions and the accompanying pilau rice and garlic nan bread was lovely. All in all a perfect meal with great food and great staff; a great find and we will make a point of returning when over that way…….it’s not too far from Bury anyway to visit there just for a meal out. Many thanks to the staff for a lovely meal. Loved it and highly recommend 👍

Tuesday 18th August, visit to celebrate grandsons A- Level results.Five of us were shown to a nice table (all spaced due to Covid).Bit of a wait as the restaurant was almost full 7:pm. Drinks ordered and soon served, followed by the usual Popadom's and pickle tray. All our main dish choices were quickly followed after and each superb. We have eaten in many Asian restaurants and The Purple Olive is as good if not better than most. TheTandoori mixed grill was beautifully cooked and the accompanied curry sauce excellent. Other dishes of lamb and chicken were also first class. The service was friendly and in a difficult time for restaurants they could not have done better. We will certainly be back. A big thank you for first class food and service.

I hate having to gives bad review I really do. Have been coming here for a good few years and at the start was a great place. The last 12 months though something has changed.I went with a friend last night and yes knew it was going to be different with the Covid situation but was as normal as could be with a QR menu on the phone etc. Attention to detail has always been something that’s impressed me but maybe am just unlucky that the guy serving us doesn’t really seem interested. Had the poppadoms and had a paneer dish for main course but it to be honest wasn’t that nice. Too many peppers, too spicy and very greasy dish. What was really bad though was the drinks orders. Ordered 2 pints of cobra which came fine. Then ordered a second pint. 20mins later still waiting to mention this again. 15mins later still no drink. By this time have all finished and so we ask for bill. Four cobras on the bill! Mention this to one of the waiters and the response was ‘oh he’s not very good, I should have been on the bar but am not’. The drinks got taken off but no apologies or anything.Just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.I’m only saying this as I want purple olive to get the passion back that it had in the beginning. The customer experience is everything and sadly I won’t be coming back here anytime soon. Need to get the professionalism back ASAP.

Waiters were spot on not intrusive. I will visit again in the summer with my family. Thank you again keep up the good work.

Our first and last visit. Initially impressed with the interior which was neat and stylish. Unfortunately the service was very poor - 20 mins before we got a drink and over an hour before our meal was served. I’m a fan of Indian food but unfortunately I thought the quality here was very average and I didn’t think value for money. I can’t recommend.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience of my life here. To be mocked by the waiter for not knowing the difference between 2 curries, corrected in the sternest of manners. Horrible. This man had a real attitude problem and is the reason I would never return.

This was our first trip to the Purple Olive and it won’t be the last. The setting is first class with well spaced tables to ensure individual privacy but with over 100 seats big enough to create a wonderful atmosphere.The menu choice is extensive with several specials, my own choice was a well spiced Pathia with Lamb Tikka, rich and tangy with plenty of kick.The staff are first rate, polite, knowledgeable and attentive but never intrusive. The owner took time to speak with us and share some insights into the challenges of opening the restaurant.The only downside is the lack of parking in the local area, but that aside this is a fabulous restaurant with brilliant food and we’ll be returning very soon.

Well what can I say, we went there as party of 12, we were seated by a very friendly waiter but there was a very noisy party right next to us, they were loud and annoying so the night was ruined by them. I ordered a rare sirloin steak and chips. Well the steak had been pulverised with a tendorising hammer and boiled to the point it fell apart as I picked it up what the hell? To be fair though the staff were amazing.

Eight of us dined on a Friday night, although we had booked there was a lot of confusion as to where we should be sitting. All the food was very nice and well presented, however, the staff lacked a lot of experience mainly young lads who didn’t know what to do without instruction from the main guy, we waited an unreasonable time between courses. Get the service right this would be a top restaurant.

First visit last Saturday and very welcoming. Lovely decor and friendly staff. Food was excellent, not too long a wait as you could tell they were preparing it from scratch. We ordered chicken biryani, chicken korai, boiled rice and plain naan. All reasonable price and not too hot. Good use of spices. Would highly recommend.

This is a nice looking restaurant, the food was great but the service was poor. Unfortunately we chose a very quiet night, only 6 people in the place the whole night, so maybe the staff were just bored? The food was delicious though.

Great food every time sizzling spice, great staff and atmosphere, top of the list to visit. You have to try "Shashlik sizzler", comes with chicken or meat and grilled veg, worth a try.

Went for my sons birthday. He's 23. Due to the layout of this big restaurant it is far too noisy. We were sat on round table in the seemingly only booth near the front. We couldn't hear each other speak. My elderly mother didnt enjoy it at all, and said she will never go there again. Kids running around didn't help. If people insist on taking their kids to adult eateries, (it's hardly Brewster bear!) ....sit them down and keep them quiet!

From the second we walked in we were greated with a warm smile and offered a fantastic intimate table. moments later Sid arrived with such passione about his restaurant nothing was too much (as we are very fussy and particular when it comes to our curry) he went above and beyond in every aspect of our experience. Sid talked with such interest in our lives and shared his own passion for cars the atmosphere was inticing but most of all we take our hats off to Sid for such a memorable anniversary....we will definitely return not just for the most amazing curry in the port but to see our friend Did, thankyou and see you soon.

We had a lovely meal here on Saturday evening. After a rather unfortunate experience at another local Indian restaurant (where they would not accommodate our young autistic children) we visited Purple Olive and are very glad that we did so. The staff were more than happy to accommodate our family of 4, we had a nice table in a quiet part of the restaurant. The food was first class and the service was great. We would definitely go again if we were ever to visit this part of the UK in the future.

Visited this lovely restaurant back end of June on a very busy Saturday night I must say was very impressed. Upon arrival our party of 8 were greeted at the door by a lovely chap who took us to the lounge area. We ordered our drinks at in the lounge and were promptly seated within 10 minutes.

Went to the Purple Olive on recommendation. A Sunday evening - place not quiet but no means busy either with lots of empty tables. We'd pre-booked (party of 7) but seemed to accept plenty of walk-ins while we were there.

The food here was absolutely horrendous with my starters tasting to hot rather than having any actual flavour. Service was atrocious and definitely don’t recommend coming here!!!

Visited again. Food and service and staff still exceptional. Even catered for my fussy 3 yr old Granddaughter. Great people and very friendly. Would highly recommend. We will be going again.

We visited the Purple Olive on a busy Saturday evening with another couple and had a very pleasant experience. The restaurant was very busy but there were more than enough staff to keep all the guests happy. The food and drink were served by friendly staff in adequate time.

I am not normally the biggest fan of Indian Food, but wow going here has changed my opinion. The place was spotless and so welcoming, plenty of staff. We got starters and mains, and both were amazing, didn't want it to end. The staff was so friendly and officiant, if I am ever in this area again I know where I will be eating!

We have visited this Indian as both the Pink & then Purple Olive and weren’t overly impressed either time with the food, and service generally. My husband decided to give them another try and have a takeaway from them. He placed his order by phone & they clarified that it was the Little Sutton restaurant he was collecting from & said it would be about 30mins- which was fine. He went to collect his order 35mins later as we find most takeaways take a little longer than they say, to be told there was no order for him. He explained about the phone conversation but they still said no & didn’t appear to be interested initially in doing anything about it- then said they’d do his order, by which point he’d had enough & started to leave. On his way out he phoned the number he had made his order on - the person he’d spoken to in the restaurant was the person who answered the phone who again denied knowing anything!!

Service slow but understandable ( in part) due to being a busy Saturday night. Food decent and priced fairly but need better organisation for bill paying... had to wait a very long time.

Had poppodoms, starter and main course and all meals were really authentic and tasty. All had different starters and main courses and each one was perfectly spiced and as described on the menu. Staff were really friendly, attentive and great atmosphere in the busy restaurant.

I am quite new to Indian cuisine but came with my partner a few months ago and then had a takeaway in February. The menu has so much choice it took me a while to decide but I decided on a lamb dish. The food is always hot and portion size is great, I never finish it all! Highly recommend the bombay aloo as a side dish and the spicy popadoms and naan bread. Flavours have been great both times and service excellent. The guys behind the bar on arrival always greet you well and are helpful. I need to try the dishes that come with brandy that they light on fire! Always smells divine.

We visited the purple olive this valentines evening.The restaurant is beautifully designed well set out.The ambience is inviting and friendly.Immaculately clean and comfortable.The staff greeted us with smiles all of them were well dressed and genuinely friendly professional in the service .The important part the food .This chef is totally on point .you can tell he has a passion for the food the presents.without doubt this was the best I've ever tasted.just sublime utterly devine .we can't recommend it highly enough.I will tell everyone I know and even don't know just how amazing it really is. It really was just afantastic meal and evening start to finish. I will return I've found absolute paradise .Thank you to Sid and Mo for the outstanding service and the great evening.

Purple olive is a great place for food I work there and have also eaten there since the restaurant was opened in 2014 I come here every week to eat that's how I got my job the staff there r polite and friendly and I have always found them helpful if u have any problems wiv good orders or drinks the restaurant it's self is spotless including the kitchen which I have had the pleasure of being shown around I have never experienced poor quality food or never have had any problems with the staff as I said I have been eating at this restaurant with my family and my friends since it opened

We visited here 3 years ago and had an amazing meal so decided to use again as we were away for the weekend again. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks. They got the wine wrong and just bought over a rose with no apology. We ordered one starter and 3 popodums and asked for them to be brought out together, my partner then had to wait 15 minutes for his starter. The naan breads were burnt and tasteless and 2 of the curries tasted the same, again tasteless. We won’t be visiting again- I assume the owners have changed as the food was poor

Have visited before - often great, once poor. Saturday 8pm visit was busy and very noisy but we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks which didn't go smoothly as the staff didn't know what they sold, claiming not to sell Guinness (cans) or Bitter (draught). They did sell both, as they were on the drinks menu, but the Guinness had sold out. We had Cobra, Bitter, Carling and a glass of lemonade. All of us exchanged strange looks as we tried these (I was going to say "tasted", but the point is there was no taste!). All our drinks appeared very weak and tasteless, I would have struggled to know what it was with my eyes closed. At this point I would have left and crossed the road to Holdi Spice Lounge, but the ladies felt embarrassed so we didn't. We ordered mains, no starters, which arrived in reasonable time. I tried a meal I've not had before - Chicken Chilli - but I wasn't overkeen on it and wouldn't order it again, but that's a chance you take when trying something different. My girlfriend's Chilli Massala was very good, as was her sister's Tikka Massala. Her sister's husband had Garlic Chicken Tandoori Sizzler (on a hot skillet, brought smoking to the table) which neither smelled nor tasted of garlic.The portion sizes seem to have reduced, and where you once could have ordered and shared a portion of rice or chips between two people they are now barely enough for one. The restaurant was busy and very noisy (school canteen-like, which I haven't noticed before) and after waiting a while I went to request the bill. The drinks bill didn't look right - 1 pint bitter, 1 pint Cobra, half pint of Carling, 1 lemonade (all tasting like they had been watered down), 1 large glass of house red wine (and a bottle of Budweiser that had been left off the bill). Price... £28.55! I asked them to check it, and I told them they had forgotten to put the Bud on the bill (honest as the day is long, me!), and still the overcharge was more than £9. Guy said he thought it said 2 pints of bitter - possible, it could look like that - but a pint of bitter didn't add up to £13+ (the £9 overcharge plus the Bud they'd forgotten). I like to think the best of people, generally thinking busy people sometimes make mistakes rather than they're trying to rip me off. However, combined with the poor quality drinks, I won't be going back anytime soon.
