A truly exceptional culinary experience. The staff took the time to discuss our varying preferences for taste & spice levels to ensure they recommended us dishes we could really appreciate. Everything was perfect - we ate as a group of 7 including 2 vegan and 2 kids aged 16 & 12 who have only ever experienced Indian food in the capacity of a local takeaway offering. I can confidently say this has been my first ever experience of authentic Punjabi cuisine. I would highly recommend that anyone try this fab eatery, I’m sure you’ll have such a positive visit and leave feeling satisfied in more ways than one. The value for money was really great too! I only wish we didn’t live so far away 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thank you for amazing food & service. What a great team!

A really great meal out: we decided to eat out here as a couple on Friday evening to try somewhere new and local. The restaurant is very welcoming with excellent service and a superb atmosphere. The choice of dishes is really good with a wide variety of vegetarian options, gluten-free dishes and both starters and mains. We opted for a selection of street-food and starter dishes to share (from the left side of the menu) which worked well - 3 smaller dishes per person was a good balance and allowed us to try a good range of the fantastic choice on offer (the challenge was narrowing down from such a creative and varied menu selection available!) The dishes themselves were really well-prepared and absolutely delicious - every plate went back clean! Service throughout was warm, friendly and efficient, and made for a wholly superb visit - we made a pledge to return in the near future. Recommend unreservedly 👍🏼👍🏼

Visited Punjabi Heaven for a masala dosa today for the first time. I have ordered takeout previously but it was the first time eating in. The best dosa I have had locally, exceptional service and such friendly staff. A big shoutout to Teja for looking after us. Highly recommend eating here.

We had an incredible dining experience at this fantastic Indian restaurant during our visit from Edinburgh. The food was absolutely amazing – bursting with flavor, authentic, and beautifully presented. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with attentive service, made it even more special. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip, and we can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in the area!

As a professional food critic I aim for my reviews to always be kind where it comes to issues but I am truthful. The venue, staff, service and ambience are lovely. Beautiful artwork and decoration and very clean. The food, not so much. It is genuinely overpriced for what it is. There is no dress code and was disappointed to see that they allow people to attend in tracksuit bottoms which was off-putting as we had bothered to dress up to eat out. Being near the door was disappoining to have to deal with a full queue of delivery drivers. I really think it brought the level of professionalism down. I think they should be made to collect from a back door. I would love to give a 5 star review due to the great service and lovely staff, but, on this occasion I'm afraid I can't. It's the chef who is losing all the points. Having been raised and lived in an Asian area for over 42 years I know my favourite food well and this food was not on point. It started when I began to drink my mango lassi which again was highly overpriced for the size of the glass. I began having to spit 'bits' out. I actually thought that the chef had accidentally ground up some of the mango seed by accident into it. I had to take it back and ask them to sieve it. The most frustrating part was that for everything that was wrong with the food, instead of apologising and being accountable, they tried to tell me I was wrong and that this is how it is made. It's not. I've literally just returned from the middle east and ate Indian food constantly when travelling. I found it very strange that there were no chapattis on the menu which one would think would come as standard as Indian restaurants generally serve them automatically with curry. Instead they had roti listed at £3. I asked can you make us some chapattis please otherwise how are we supposed to eat our curry? They agreed but when they were served they were swimming in either butter or ghee. My friend is a vegan and they knew that. We were both shocked and again when we pointed out that chapattis are supposed to come dry, they again tried to tell us we were wrong. When our regular dry chapattis came after sending them back, the man turned around said 'vegan chapattis' to us. I don't mind what they believe but you don't tell a customer that they are wrong. Chapattis are absolutely never served with butter/ghee. Never have been and never will be. The other problem with them was that they were truly tiny. Chapattis are big as a rule. They were child size. Please be aware that this restaurants chef automatically garnishes absolutely everything. I had to send my curry back as he had swirled what looked like pouring cream all over the top of it. I ordered yoghurt as there was no raita available on the menu. I had to leave it. It tasted sour and was thick and lumpy like cream cheese. The chef didn't even whisk it to smooth out the consistency and then decided to serve it with pomegranate and something green on the top. Again, it had to be sent back and asked for it plain. The curry was disappointing. I tipped it out of the serving bowl and onto a plate to be able to access the meat. The meat wasn't marinaded as it was plain white in the middle. It was plain chicken just added to a sauce. The chunks were far too big and needed cutting in half or even quarters and for £12.99 there were only 5 pieces of meat in a whole heap of sauce. I felt like a paid for a bowl of sauce and left hungry. The shop next door sells Aisan sweets. We did buy some on leaving but the prices were exceptionally expensive. £1 for one gulab jamun. I saw a bag of crisps for sale for way over a pound. Due to so much being wrong, I am unable to give more than two stars and I believe 100% that this is down to a bad chef. Please stop selling plain meat in sauce and advertising it as what should be marinaded meat. That's unfair on the public and please add chapattis, raita and all regular food that people expect from Indian cuisine onto the menu. Kind regards.

Food was absolutely delicious and in the words of my 7 year old son it was ‘delectable’! Such a lovely experience for our young children also with such colourful food and decor. Everything tasted fabulous. We would definitely recommend the butter chicken and the Punjabi House curry! Thank you, we will be back! X

We had such a wonderful experience at this Punjabi restaurant! We chose it because of the extensive range of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Instead of going for mains, we ended up trying a variety of street food dishes as the menu was packed with so many appetising choices. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was lovely – warm, welcoming, and vibrant. On top of that, the customer service was excellent; the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning

Very tasty and beautiful fish pokara and chicken tikka starter. But!!!, so tight with the portion sizes. That's why 4 star and not 5. Got x 2 curries with breads. Sooo tasty, amazing food. But the lamb curry was a small portion. Up your portion sizes.

We attended the restaurant last Saturday with friends, it was fantastic. The staff were friendly, attentive and generally seemed very happy which was lovely to see. The food is absolutely delicious, a real variety to choose from and something for every palate. The food had a beautiful warming kick which just added to the flavours within the dishes. The staff also were great when in came to recommendations for the food. Highly recommend this restaurant and also highly recommend the paneer chapatti/tortilla starter and with the chilli chicken starter - Absolutely amazing!!

This was the 2nd visit in less than a week, and again they didnt disappoint, Gurleen the waitress was very attentive to our group and made some very good recommendations on what to try. We had starters, Pani Puri, Lamb Fry, Sev Puri and Okra Fries, all amazing, and then onto the mains, Pepper Chicken and a Punjabi Lamb dish, all accompanied with Butter Naan's. We all tucked into the gravy sauce - wow! Everyone in our group loved the dishes. To top it off, we even tried the fancy indian drinks, Jeera Cola, Limca and the usual suspect - Good 'ol Mango Lassi - went down a treat - Thank you PH for a great meal - we will be back for sure. We don't drink alcohol, hence the price per head was lower than other reviewers.

We an excellent dining experience at this restaurant! The Punjabi lamb and pepper (paper) chicken were absolutely amazing. The dishes were flavorful and delicious, truly highlighting the restaurant's culinary skills. What made the meal even more enjoyable was our waitress, Gurleen. She was not only incredibly helpful but also brought a wonderful sense of humor to our dining experience. Her friendly and attentive service added a special touch to the evening.

There’s a lot of good Indian food available round here and this is some of the best. Whether east-in or take-away it’s just outstanding. Tonight my wife had the lamb biryani & I had the veg paneer curry and it was gorgeous! The service is always friendly & the portions are generous. What more could you want?!

Butter chicken was absolutely incredible it was unbelievable I will deffo be coming back. The garlic cheese naan is still something I think about time to time, it is not an item I have ever tried or seen before, a cheese parata from elsewhere just won't hack it. Truly beautiful

Amazing food and service! This is probably the best Punjabi food we have eaten in the UK. Their Mango lassi and Aloo tikki channa chat is too good and highly recommend their Railway Thali meals on the weekends. Dal makhani was just perfect! They do have sweet shop ‘Signature sweets’ just near this restaurant. Highly recommend to go to this restaurant.

My partner and I are big fans of Punjabi Heaven. We've dined in and ordered take out and both types of experiences have been excellent. Staff are brill... and they have Kirkstall on tap! Personal favourites on the menu are the Calcutta Chaat, lamb chops and saag paneer . We have also recently used Punjabi Heaven to cater for a party (~60 people). From start to finish the experience was brilliant. Regina and Daljit helped with selecting dishes and had some good ideas around set up for the day. We had the tandoor option on their catering menu and it was fab - it was horrendous rain... No problem - prepped with a gazebo and some manoeuvring they had a great set up and all our guests loved the food, which was as good as any time we have ordered in the restaurant. It was also very affordable - if anyone is thinking of catering it's worth chatting with the team about requirements and budget. Overall - couldn't recommend more and we are so lucky to have them in Oakwood.

Punjabi Heaven catered our outdoor/barn wedding near York and we cannot recommend them enough! Daljit and Regina are really legends. We wanted a street food vibe for our wedding and they took on board our thoughts and encouraged us to try different dishes to figure out our perfect menu. They listened to feedback about spicing which was perfect on the day. They are super organised and communicated really quickly and clearly throughout the whole process. The food was incredible and many of the guests actually said it was the best wedding food they had ever had (we agree). The tandoor oven made incredibly tender food and breads. The waiting staff were very professional and blended into the background but were always attentive and happy to help. We were running 30-45mins late after the ceremony and speeches but Daljit and Regina managed to make this time up over the wedding breakfast to help keep the day on time. We honestly cannot be happier with the service, food, and experience we received. Daljit and Regina almost feel like family! These guys are doing big things right now and we just hope they remember us when they're famous!

A really really bad place to be, they ordered me to leave because they had other customers. Such a rude admin. I did order food and tea , sat 45 minutes to be exact and then ordered another tea but they told me to leave. And your response to the review is just down! Happened for the first time in my life
