Absolute gem of an Italian restaurant. Very unassuming from the outside, and simple rustic feel inside. We received a very warm welcome from the waiting staff, and the service overall was excellent. The food was totally delicious. Again, a very rustic feel with very generous portions, and the quality was top drawer. Our waiter also gave us an excellent wine recommendation. Overall, I think this is my favourite Italian restaurant in London. Will definitely be returning.

A cozy Italian restaurant located near Covent Garden. Despite not reserving a table, we were warmly welcomed after a short 10-15 minute wait outside under heated seating. The atmosphere inside was vibrant, with a mix of Italian deli charm and a high-turnover setup, ideal for pre-theater dining. I opted for the cacio e pepe, a dish that showcased good ingredients but leaned heavily on the cheese. While the aged provolone stood out, the dish could have used a stronger peppery kick to balance the richness. My wife chose the pizza capricciosa, which was enjoyable and highlighted fresh toppings. Service was attentive and efficient, with our meals arriving promptly—a clear benefit for those heading to a show. Wine was generously served and easy to drink. Overall, while the meal was pleasant and good for an easy dinner, I'd love to see more from the food. There's other (more expensive though) options nearby that's worth seeking out. Come here for the atmosphere.

A lovely option for authentic Italian cuisine on theatre night, with limited indoor seating, but plenty of heated outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly, accommodating, attentive, and the food came out quickly. We had the pappardelle meatballs and ravioli, both excellent and good portions, with lovely bread, salad, and the usual Italian seasoning of quality olive oil and balsamic. Perfect for a Saturday evening when you only have an hour, but still want a dining experience. We look forward to visiting again during warmer weather and recommended that you don't pass this by if you have the time to sit and enjoy proper food and service, done well.

Walked in for dinner without reservation. Service was nice, food was good - though the pizza was a little burnt - but the dough was really what we like. We didn’t have pasta but they looked delicious on the plates were served. The restaurant itself crowded with tables for me, 2-3 less table would make it more cosy.

Hidden gem right by Covent Garden. A real taste of Italy, ran by a wonderful team. Wonderful fresh and rich ingredients with a yummy Italian menu. Small and lively and a great selection of drinks. Impeccable service, great for a bite to eat as family or friends. Would absolutely go back.

Really lovely Italian restaurant. Reminded me of the places I’ve eaten in Sicily - not fancy but excellent food and friendly service. Had pizza and the house white (very nice and reasonably priced). Service was laid back but very friendly, and complementary limoncello shot as a digestivo! The type of place to have a relaxed dinner and catch-up with friends. A rare gem in central London.

Don't worry, though, the music playing in the background is great but it is BACKGROUND and won't interfere with conversation or your meal. Staff was great, even hunting down cinnamon to go in my tequila + hot chocolate on a miserably wet and cold London night.

Vine aquí por recomendación de un amigo. No me decepcionó. No sabrías que había un restaurante aquí a menos que pasaras por las ventanas que salen del mercado de Covent Garden hacia Tavistock Street. Los asientos abiertos de la calle estaban protegidos y el dosel estaba tan difícil de ver a la gente comiendo. Un montón de gente lo sabe, sin embargo, ya que estaba empacado cuando llegamos. Un montón de personal y la genuina bienvenida a la llegada fue un gran cambio con respecto a otros restaurantes de la zona. El menú es muy tradicional comida italiana, así que no hay grandes sorpresas. El tiempo de espera desde el pedido hasta la llegada de la comida fue de 10 minutos. Es rápido. Evening visit on 24/10/16. A small restaurant inside the market. I was a little disappointed because it was a bit simpler than I expected. For two people, a Margherita pizza, two pasta dishes, and two cokes cost £59.96. Of course it's delicious, but it's not that special.

I have never not eaten a meal I've been served in a restaurant, but this was so bad I couldn't eat it. I got the meatballs with pasta. When it arrived, the meatballs were cold and disgusting, so I sent them back. They came back 10 minutes later and were hot but the texture was like mush. I've never eaten such a bad meatball in my life. I had one bite, my husband had one bite to confirm that it wasn't just me and i left the rest. I just ate a bit of the pasta which was merely average in a very average sauce. My husband's chicken salad was inedible too, as was my daughter's carbonara. My son's pizza seemed fine (but he's 6 and will eat any old crap). They offered for us to take our food away as there was so much left in our plates, but i honestly wouldn't even have wanted to inflict it on someone living on the streets. The staff were nice though :-)

I recently dined at Prima Italian Restaurant (26/10/2024) in Covent Garden with high hopes, given its inviting ambiance and what I assumed would be a quality Italian dining experience. Unfortunately, the evening turned out to be a major disappointment, from the subpar customer service to a distressing health issue that ruined my entire night. Customer Service Issues The trouble began as soon as we were seated. Despite the restaurant being only moderately busy, the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. We waited an excessive amount of time for someone to take our order, and when our server finally arrived, they were unfriendly and dismissive. We felt like we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers. I had hoped that the service would improve as the evening progressed, but it only continued to disappoint. After ordering, we waited a considerable amount of time for our food to arrive, with no communication from our server regarding the delay. When we asked about the status of our food, we received vague responses that only added to our frustration. Water refills were nonexistent, and attempts to flag down our server were ignored. The lack of basic courtesy and attention to detail was, frankly, shocking for a restaurant of this kind. Food Quality and Health Concerns I ordered the classic carbonara, expecting a comforting, authentic dish. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was unremarkable, and I noticed that the pasta looked a bit odd- not the usual colour of carbonara (orange-ish). The taste was equally underwhelming—bland and lacking the richness that you would expect from a well-made carbonara. However, the real issue began a few hours later. Not long after I left the restaurant, I started experiencing severe stomach cramps and nausea. Unfortunately, it became evident that the carbonara had caused food poisoning, which not only ruined my night but also left me feeling unwell for the following day. Experiencing this level of illness from a meal is both disappointing and alarming, as it raises questions about the restaurant’s food safety and hygiene practices. Conclusion My experience at Prima was far from what I had hoped for. Between the poor customer service, lackluster food quality, and severe health issues caused by their carbonara, I left feeling thoroughly dissatisfied. This restaurant needs to take immediate steps to address both their service standards and food safety protocols. For now, I would strongly advise others to avoid Prima, especially given the potential health risks. If you’re considering dining here, I suggest looking elsewhere until Prima can prove that they value their customers and prioritise a safe, enjoyable dining experience.

Table for 7 people. We had a fabulous meal as always (found this gem for our gluten free grandson when he was 4, we have gone there as grandparents& adults.... ). The staff are so kind & attentive. A little gem in Covent Garden. So nice not to be rushed either as we had time to catch up & chat to family. Thank you see you again soon 😘

We had a great time yesterday with my friends. The food was lovely, made of high quality ingredients. Service was excellent too. Attention was paid when we mentioned our allergies so that put us at ease. I also enjoyed the whole vibe of the place.

The best pasta in London. Period. Having been about 5 times, I can verify their consistency. Their pasta is fresh, their ingredients are delicious and all meals are authentic. The service is professional, helpful, fun and are positively keen to serve everyone to the best of their ability. Their menu is classical Italian with cleverly crafted twists all at a great price for Covent Garden. I cannot recommend Prima enough, we don’t live in London but make a journey of going specifically for their wild boar and truffle ravioli. 10/10 setting the standard for Italian restaurants in the UK, great experience Can’t wait to come back in 2 weeks ;)

I come here usually once a month after a regular appointment and this is by far my favourite Italian restaurant in London. Firstly, the food is delicious whether you have pasta or pizza (I cannot resist having both). However, what sets it apart is the service. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming, even the manager / owner. I have some medical issues and use a crutch to walk and unfortunately, other establishments have been "unhelpful" to put it politely. Prima Sapori is the complete opposite and always accomodating. It really makes a difference and is why I continue to be a regular customer. I just wish they offered a full dessert menu, as I am sure their desserts would be delicious as well.

The Cuban waiter gave us good attention and recommended well. Plus my kids finished all their food. The best judges 🤞🏼

Went here recently with a good friend of mine for some lunch, the service at this venue was outstanding with our server Pietro being the most accommodating and wonderful host. The food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant felt very warm and comforting. I would definitely recommend people going there to try out the food!

My favourite place in London! Food is always outstanding, the vibe is great and service is on point. I had a server by the name Pietro- he was really funny and so friendly. Not only was he super accommodating to me and my friend but also to other customers around me. HE NEEDS A RAISE!!! I’ve never had such a good customer service before until Pietro. Amazing guy.

Place suggested by the guide, with the promise of a pizza leavened for many hours. And it wasn't bullshit. Excellent pasta, excellent ingredients and digested immediately. Fast and efficient service. We wish we had known him sooner! Next trip to London I'll definitely go back to try something else. Some simple tomato tagliolini I saw passing around looked delicious! Pizzeria close to Covent Garden, easy to find with GPS. The welcome is a little average, but the waiter was nice. The pizzas are really very good, well garnished and tasty. The pasta, on the other hand, is decent but a little below expectations. That said, they are still pleasant. Overall, the price-performance ratio is okay. Weak care, lack of professionalism, we were discriminated against by the fact that we were with two autistic children who did not eat anything on the menu, so we had to buy fries elsewhere so we could have lunch in peace, but the restaurant staff did not like it. They were rude when it came to explaining that we couldn't bring something there wasn't on your menu so that we adults can enjoy a pizza.

We were a party of 8 on busy weekend, they were happy to accommodate us without reservation. The food was fresh and delicious, the pizza full of flavour. Staff absolutely amazing. They offered us smaller portions for kids if they wanted small pasta or pizza as there is no kids menu. But kids were happy to try different pizzas from what we ordered.

Very tasty Italian with beautiful surroundings

Lovely food and lovely staff! They make you feel welcome regardless of how many customers there are. Food came out quickly but didn't taste rushed.

Really great place just off the main Covent Garden area. Service is excellent, standard but very good quality Italian fare in simple & straight forward area inside/outside the market. These guys are almost too efficient. 2 courses, drink & coffee all done in just over an hour. I know it’s right in the middle of the London tourist area, but 80 quid for 2 courses, 2 soft drinks & 2 coffees is a bit much in our opinion.

We ate here before going to a nearby show. I had the chicken salad which was ok, good pieces of chicken but not the tastiest salad i ever had and at £18(without the optional mozarella) it was quite expensive. Two bottles of still water at £9 were saucy and the gratuity was added automatically which i dont like. The place is nice, good atmosphere and staff were efficient.

There were 3 of us there with my wife and my daughter. We were made very welcome and the service was quick. The pizza was excellent, the gnocchi were delicious. You can go there with your eyes closed.

After visiting the theatre for the day, my daughter and I needed dinner so I searched the area and this place popped up, why not! We arrived and was seated straight away outside. The balcony was lovely and we had a great view of the pizza oven. I had a pizza and my little one had meatballs. I also treated myself to a cocktail, Pina colada and everything was beautiful. The meat on my pizza was very tasty and I tried my daughter's meatball, which were so tender and juicy! It was quite busy but the staff were great, making sure we had everything we need. I will definitely be coming back again , thank you for finishing off our perfect day x

This has got to be my favourite stop in London. Whether it’s a quiet weekday or a busy weekend, they are always so good, so consistent. Excellent, authentic food, delightful service, in a setting that is welcoming and homely and reassuringly unfussy.

Went to visit this highly rated Italian restaurant with some friends from abroad. The arancini was oily and tasted stale. The bruscetta was actually good. The waiter was okay. There's no baby change available. We ordered a pizza for the kids which they enjoyed. For the adults we had 2 cacio e Pepe, one carbonara and a pesto pasta. The cacio e Pepe pasta was stodgy like overcooked noodles which was then mixed into cream fresh and a bit of salt and pepper. There was no cheese and pepper mixed into. We couldn't eat it. The carbonara was edible, but tasted of crème fraiche and oily. We didn't finish our food and left. One of my friends even got sick post the food.

We had an excellent evening in this typically Italian restaurant. First of all, we were perfectly welcomed by the mainly Italian staff. Then, the pizzas that we tasted were delicious (we thought we were in Italy) accompanied by wine and beer suited to our meal. All this happily brought to you by our very professional server. Finally, we sipped a very good limoncelo which ended this very good moment. Thanks again and keep it up.

Arrived by myself without a reservation, the front of house staff were so kind and really made me feel welcome. I did have to wait a little bit, but the staff kept checking on me and giving me updates. The food was incredible; the gnocchi and focaccia were so flavourful. Couldn't recommend enough. Going back to London later this year and will absolutely be back here. This was such an unexpected gem and I've honestly thought about it at least every other day since my first visit.
