Premier Inn Birmingham City Centre (Exchange Square) hotel in Birmingham

The room and hallways were unclean, the floor carpets seemed to have never been hoovered, stains on all bed covers and pillows, the checkin software didn't work so had to wait half an hour before we could check in!

Stayed here this weekend just gone for Birmingham pride! All staff were nice accept one guy who was quite rude to us a nights member refusing to get any more tea/milk for us when we asked and he wouldn’t give his name when asked either. The one lady who was there was absolutely wonderful she got us tea straight away. The hotel managers here were very nice as well. The rooms were very clean indeed shower door didn’t seem to close though. The free WiFi was not the best but I guess it’s premier inns way to force people to buy premium WiFi which it’s not the best. Hotel was lovely thought the lobby is very nice and the lifts are very fast here. 99% great stay. Would I come back yes would I recommend to others I guess I would as long as no staff are rude- one member on our stay.

Wi-fi is really poor for a new hotel building, am sure they deliberately do this to force you to pay and upgrade the Premier wifi. Wi-fi is much better in the older buildings in the city centre. Room needed dusting in the bathroom and the towel hook was missing

Location is near the bullring, which is Perfect. The car park is reasonably close, around a 10 minute walk. Very clean room, containing a comfortable bed. The digital check in was super easy and quick. The option to check in with a receptionist was also available

Nice sized rooms but our room had a fan running all night. Really comfy when able to sleep. Location is right next to a lot of bus stops and there seems to be a lot of people just hanging around. The area looks a little run down but there is work going on in the area. Very near centre of city for shops and sightseeing

I stayed at this premier inn, and payed extra for a room upgrade which included a room with a view and a premier room which included a coffee machine and a fridge, with complimentary chocolates and 2 bottles of water in the fridge. The premier rooms were on the 10th floor upwards, but the lift was not working to the 10th floor. There were only 2 coffee pods in our room, and we were told that there were no more coffee pods available. The view from the room was not great, and service was fairly poor too. Location of this premier inn is a bit of a walk from the centre, and not the best location to stay, I would definitely recommend staying at the other premier inns in the City centre rather than this one.

Unfortunately the girl on reception was very unprofessional. The room was as expected.

Stayed here on 2 consecutive weekends for some assessments in the area. Very comfy beds and rooms. Delicious brekkie. Helpful staff. A couple of tiny maintenance things that would have been impossible to know about without a customer pointing it out, didn’t impact our stay. As good as I have come to expect - thanks!

The staff are so friendly the lady that served us Charlotte went above and beyond for my daughter Kaylah we will definitely be back again thanks guys xx

Really disappointing hotel. I usually like premier inns, you know what you get for your money however this hotel is really shabby and run down. We booked a premier plus room but the carpet was filthy, furnishings were worn and ultimate WiFi didn't work and the shower cycled through hot and cold for the duration of our stay. It did not feel safe walking back late at night with groups of homeless men congregating outside McDonald's next door. One of the lifts was out of order meaning long waits to get up and down to the 7th floor and also the automatic check in screens were not working so there was a long wait to collect keys despite checking in via the app in advance. I would not recommend this hotel, although the location is central it felt grubby and not the standard you would expect from premier inn.

Right in the city centre. Brilliant service. They gave us a cot for our baby.

The room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable and the food was very nice.

Great rooms as always, with friendly staff and a brilliant breakfast! The breakfast room overlooks the canal and has a great view! The location was really quiet and had parking. I had a restful stay!

cold room heating was centrally controlled so had to go to the reception everytime to ask for it to be made warmer. as there was no phone in the room. no service in the room and the WIFI was shit, barely connecting to it, we had to go down to reception to use our on data. the location is a bit far from some major restaurants. despite it , the service was amazing the food was really good and yummy.

Rooms were cold but they did go the extra mile and provided a heater

Premier inn rooms never disappoint. We checked in around 7pm and had to wait a while as they couldn't confirm if our room was ready. Location is good easy to walk to the shopping centre. Parking was an issue and there's no where to stop to drop off either

Disappointed with my New Year’s stay at Premier Inn Birmingham City. Poor service, rude staff, and uncleaned rooms despite multiple requests. Not the family getaway we’d hoped for.

No mobile phone service in the room, the wifi was slow, and there was no phone in the room to ring reception, but other than that everything else ok.

Self check in was simple, clean and spacious room and the staff was very helpful with any queries we had. Good location and the room was very quiet considering the busy road it’s next to. Good selection at breakfast. Can't fault my stay at all and I would be sure to use again.

Fabulous stay in this city centre hotel. Bull ring only a 10 minute walk away. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Despite overlooking a busy road, no noise from outside leading to sound night's sleep. Didn't use the restaurant but it did look busy. Staff were friendly and welcoming, for ab extra £10 we were able to check in early, dump our luggage and hit the shops

Excellent all round. Very close to the central station. Quite a new Premier Inn, very clean and comfortable. The restaurant is the best I've been to PIns, food actually quite good and all staff attentive, polite and helpful. If ever on Birmingham again this is the number one place to stay for me. Only downside is the WiFi which is very slow and often doesn't work. Really great four nights stay.

Fantastic breakfast, lovely shower

Decent room comfy bed, but no bulbs in any of lamps bar one, and the bulb that was in the lamp was smashed and nearly cut me when I went to switch it to my side of bed. Then went to make a coffee to find the milk was 6 months out of date and came out in a congealed lump. When taking my cups full of gone off milk and coffee to reception (as there is no phone in your room to contact them) the manager said "well we are a big hotel and it is a best before date" which was not the response I was expecting considering how gone off the milk was, a simple sorry and replacement of milk would have been fine. But credit to her with a bit of coaxing got a complimentary breakfast (also shower door would not stay closed as shower was incorrectly fitted so bathroom floor got considerably wet)

Stayed for one night here to visit the Alexander Theatre for a show. We had a premium room on the top floor which was a corner one. It was exceptionally quiet and very comfortable. The staff downstairs were very jolly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again for a stay in Birmingham.

Had a great stay last month (March), always love staying at a "moon and stars hotel" (named by the kids). Lovely and clean, new facilities and attentive staff. Can't fault it and would definitely recommend.

Stayed here while going to the local comicon . Hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were on hand to satisfy any need . Pillows were like sleeping on a cloud, best nights sleep. 10/10

Me and my husband spent a few nights here last minute surprise. The rooms were spotlessly clean comfortable bed nothing was to much trouble. All staff were very welcoming but could I just give a special shout out to Elle she is such a lovely girl went the extra mile for us and I'm a firm believer in credit where credit is due she was amazing. We will be re booking just because of how good everything was.

My experience was absolutely delightful. My stay was comfortable and everything was perfect. My family and I truly were taken care of. Nas was extremely helpful. She took care of all our needs and answered all our questions. She even went the extra mile by giving my kids toys which kept them entertained. Such a superstar! I definitely will be returning.

Muslim Alert! No halal in any premium in hotel. No microwave so you can bring halal food and warm. No room service. It is just you spend night and go . So be aware.I wast my food due to they did not allow to microwave. You need to spend money outside everytime.

My experience was amazing. My room was clean and well prepared. The customer service by the receptionist nasim was excellent she never fails to have a smile on her face always made sure she did everything perfect. My overall experience at the hotel was a great experience thank you to everyone.

Stayed here a few times, great location and staff are always very good. Food is nice and a good atmosphere. Rooms are always nice and clean.

I went in to ask about something, the man at reception was really rude for no reason. It was unprovoked and unnecessary please teach your staff some manners.

I like this hotel for many reasons 1 was the price very good and only 6mins walk from drop off and bar look good I did have a drink in there The only problem I say was the wifi was very poor where my room was signal was near gone and I was on the fast one you need a router near the corner rooms as bit of a blind area

Visited for a breakfast Only. This was the nicest looking Premier inn restaurant I have seen so far and I have been to many. Unfortunately I was under the impression that they were understaffed for Saturday breakfast service. Food wasn't topped up frequently. The tables were not cleared very quickly and the poor waitress was running on her own and doing as much as she could to make it work.

I visited Birmingham for a night and chose this Premier Inn as it was only £35. Bargain! However, this experience did leave me disappointed as 1 crucial amenity wasn’t available. This was the WiFi - free and ‘ultimate’ options. The staff did warn me there were issues on arrival, but when in the room attempting to connect to the internet, it simply wasn’t possible at all. I informed the reception who provided me with a free code for the Ultimate WiFi, but again the message on my phone read ‘unable to connect to the internet’. The staff later informed me this was due to issues with their provider, however I do believe it’s an important amenity for any modern hotel nowadays that simply cannot be overlooked. It was also a feature included in the package when booking, which was of particular importance to me for work purposes and it wasn’t possible to get a strong 5G or 4G connection within the giant hotel. Nevertheless, other aspects of the hotel were good. The staff were very friendly and always available. The room was clean with a good shower, tea and coffee as promised, and the view was spectacular. However, I would describe the TV package as basic and the desk too small for comfortable working. I also appreciated how only the key offered access to the hotel lobby and to your own room floor via the lift as a reassuring security measure. This was important to me as later in the night the area where the hotel was situated left you feeling slightly uneasy. Aside from this, the locality was a good, walkable distance from most attractions and had public transport outside the lobby. Overall, I probably would’ve ranked this hotel above average for its modern facilities, service and locality, but internet access is essential these days, especially when 4G/5G aren’t available inside the building. For this reason the experience was below standard as internet access is a basic expectation for guests.

Hotel itself is great. Room was clean and staff were friendly. We had breakfast one morning which was well cooked and plenty of choice. The area around the hotel isn't great which is why I cannot rate it 5 stars - the streets around don't feel very safe to walk around during the day never mind at night - lots of dodgy looking characters hanging around the vicinity of the hotel takes away from the experience.

Very nice new hotel .. however the location is not that pleasant right now. It appears to be in an area being regenerated which is great for the city, however visitors are faced with dealing with a large number of undesirables in the area who appeared to be using illicit substances and the smell of cannabis around the city is very unpleasant! No sign of police moving these people on either. Not a great advertisement for Birmingham Tourism

Stayed here 16th March for 1 night as was going to an event at the forum. Was a fab location. We purchased the breakfast and meal deal, Andy served us as dinner and was very chatty, polite and helpful. Would defo stay here again. Very central to most things.

Comfy bed, but only one towel for two people and booking in was a nightmare as we were all paying separate rooms and at 1.30am it was a bit of a pain to transfer money to one person's card. Should be a hassle free booking in process.

Clean and good sized rooms. Parking be tricky and pricey. The NCP Londonderry house seems closest...

The room is very clean. Very comfortable bedding. I was very hot all night. Very clean bathroom too. The service good. The only slightly negative point is the location. I find the hotel a little far from the center.

Not the best Premier Inn. I prefer the one by the station. This place appears to be too big for the team to manage. WiFi is iffy and there's no phone signal.

Stayed here for the weekend. Was a very good stay. Was quiet. Didn't hear anyone above or next door. Room was comfy. Wish you could turn air con lower than 19c but was fine temp wise as mild outside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location was only a few minutes into town

It is a shame as the rooms are great but the entire hotel is in a blind spot for mobile networks and their wifi is not working properly!

Central location, 6 minutes walk from New Street station. Cosy, comfortable, in-house restaurant closes at 12midnight. Friendly staff namely Laura and Will. Definitely recommend 👌🏽

Stayed for 2 nights, everywhere clean. Staff on reception were great especially George who sorted a problem with our heating straight away and couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast was delicious and bar food was good. Around 10min walk to bullring but wouldn't feel too comfortable walking late night. Our room was quiet with views of the city on the 11th floor.

Always get the same standard with PremInn - clean rooms and very comfortable beds. But this time the room seemed to have been serviced superficially. The towels were just a bit damp although clean. The soap and shampoo dispenser in the bath were empty, and hand-wash had only a tiny squirt left. Only one sachet of coffee and only two pots of UHT milk. The attached restaurant was expensive for evening meals and we were a bit underwhelmed by portion size.
