Food hot service fast chips really tasty

Stayed nearby for a day and ordered for four people. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals ☺️

Polite staff. Nice fish and chips.

Portion sizes are always huge.Fish is like a whale . Food is good . Don't bother with the others around they are dry.

Don't know what's happened to this chip shop, the batter used is not the same as before, the burger bun broke into tiny pieces, mayo tastes watered down, even the curry sauce didn't taste the same. Chips were hard as rock, I had to force myself to eat them. In the end the bin ate more then I did, won't be returning to this chip shop.

Can not fault it. Food was spot on and big portion. Love the kebab, and the battered chips was the best I've had in a while. Wish they delivered.

I gave this place 2 stars for food because it is meant to be a fish bar. The fish look nice in appearance but it tastes bad I was not able to eat so I throw it away. I got a large mix kebab with the my order, the portion did not look large. I may not fault them because I wanted medium at the start of the order and later in changed my mind to get large. All in all I gave this place overall 3 because the customer service good.

If you like bland kebabs this place is for you!! ... Despite asking for chilli sauce and salad on several occasions you get nothing...the staff are too busy serving the queue and are not interested in want the customer wants.

Love this chip shop, they never disappoint. Large portions too and the chips are equally tasty if reheated in the oven!

Battered chips as lovely as ever. However, first time I've had 'cod', but unfortunately it wasn't fresh and had been frozen.... watery, grey and tasteless.

Ordered plain chicken meat with salad, got home opened up to a plain tray of doner meat, wrong meat and no salad but still charged for original order

Great chippy, the battered chips are amazing!

The food and service has always been good so as long as that remains that way i’ll keep on going back. Prices have slowly crept up over the past few years but the portions are always generous, suppose the prices had to go up at some point.

High quality food with good hygiene practices. Shop is busy in the evening times so give yourself good 20-30 minutes for collection. Battered chips are very nice!

Fish and chip shop with all you would expect in a chip shop. Chips are regular or battered and of course they do your different kebabs

By and far the best fish and chip shop in the area. A great selection and always a friendly and warm reception. Battered and plain chips, but the battered chips are definitely the most popular. A good selection of specials and deals and very reasonable prices. Portions are on the large side, so consider sharing between two or three.

After seeing mixed reviews for this chippy was disappointed to be waiting 15 minutes just for an acknowledgement and a simple bag of chips which was cold within 10 minutes

Whoah this place is very expensive!! Glad I had notes on me, and that was for a burger meal!? Really nice meal, staff were brilliant, great battered chips and the burger was great (strange ketchup though, I've never tasted that!). I probably wouldn't go back, bit too pricey, but I would recommend it if you're gagging for a chippy on payday and wanna treat yourselves. Though keep in mind Rowley village next door do an utterly incredible bag of chips for way cheaper :D All in all, not bad!!!

Brill food ordered online they did not get order right and can of pop missing but food with all good.

So turn up at Portway chippy and just want a large bag of chips . I do not carry cash and haven't done so whilst this pandemic is on ...so my surprise is the they then charge you 50p for transactions under £5.00 ... absolutely ridiculous given the current circumstances... Will give this a wide berth ....

Chips are hit and miss, mostly miss

Doner meat and chips greasy, soaked through the bag and the paper. And this is not a one time thing, it has happened twice. Will not be ordering the doner meat again‼️

Very disappointed, ordered cod and chips, although it was a nice big portion and the batter as beautifully crispy a couple of things spoiled it for us. First, the batter wasn't seasoned enough so had no real taste. My fish was okay, but my partner had to leave half of his, it went from white to a horrible yellowy colour with an unpleasant texture and taste, possibly too much of the tail meat. Chips, usual story with chippy's round here, to get the perfect chip, keep them in freezing cold water until you have the oil hot, pat the chips dry with kitchen roll and cook in small batches. Take them out of the oil as they start go golden, leave in the basket and let them drain well. Then return to the hot oil and refry until golden. Close but no Cigar.

The best chicken kebab meal deal out there!

Haven't been for just over a month as we thought we would try some other chip shops, thought we would go back tonight...I'm sorry to say we were disappointed, chips were hard, and had a funny taste, sausage tasted as if it had been cooked and left standing. Safely to say, we won't be back in a hurry!

I go to this chippy quite regularly as my parents send me up in taxi as my mom had knee operation and there so much better than the deliverys that turn up late then chips are cold my parents always have the fish and l have the chips and curry sauce to share they are one of the best l have tasted in my life l well recommend these well good or as it goes wicked lol

Service from staff is good. Portion sizes excellent and food ready in good time. Chips come in battered or normal. Fish batter not as crispy as I normally like it but the food is good and I use it a lot now.

Just been, absolutely horrendous, firstly the staff that work there are pure ignorant, and I asked for plain chips, they were raw, undercooked and full of bruises, not the fact that the prices are also extortionate. Awful family meal ruined...ill stick to Whiteheath.

Good food, clean premises & nice staff

Nothing bad to say... Very helpful unfortunately on second visit after ordering 3 x large fish & chips.. Once we reached our destination we found that some of the chips were hard / undercooked but the very first time we went chips were fine so as a suggestion be sure to keep on top of it. We will give them another chance if not they will lose another star.

Nice food but sadly I have been there a few times now and been given undercooked pink lamb doner meat. For that reason I have had to go down to only two stars.

ordered food for delivery. never order again. mixed nan. battered mushrooms large chips and steak and kidney pie. everything was stone cold. even after microwaving thru it all away. waste on 12.40. I have since telephoned the chip shop and spoken to Abdul who is goin to replace everything 2mora evening. but I will collect. very apologetic.

The food was almost two hours late had endless off excusses and had the phone put down couple of times when seeing where it was . and to top it off was offered a discount on current order as well as next order but still had to pay full on this one , will not and don't recommend using the delivery service at all as it's hard enough to get through but to be so disrespectful is beyond a joke in my eyes but the bright side for food what was due 40 mins after 7.30 pm and now being 9:15 was still surprisingly hot and tasted nice to say the driver was stuck in traffic And some of the scollops I ordered was still roar and barely edible.
