Great Hot Chocolate, amazing staff, lovely clean and friendly cafe. The dining was spot on 💐💐, can't wait to come back again.

This is a great cafe, beautifully situated. The staff are very nice and polite, and the carrot cake was homemade and delicious. I was just a little disappointed because even though I was drinking in, I was given water in a plastic cup. It's OK that it wasn't a real glass, but I do try and avoid single use plastic - maybe there is a more sustainable alternative? Also, it would be great if there was a recycling point nearby for the glass bottles used in the cafe too, or if the cafe had a system of taking the glass bottles in. But a lovely place and I'm glad we went.

Great little independent Thai cafe with a gorgeous view. They serve english & Thai options in the menu for breakfast and mains. Also very good service by a couple and staff that runs this.

We have been regulars here for a while. Owners Barry and Rung are lovely and friendly. We always look forward to coming here and enjoying the food. Will be back again very soon!

This cafe is a lovely place to come and relax and the best part is you can have excellent English and Thai food! The atmosphere is just as lovely and warm as the owners, Barry and Rung. Highly recommended!

Love it here. Always friendly. It's our favourite cafe and great to be able to walk around the park with the dogs after having a very tasty full english breakfast! Not many places like this that also have handy free parking (plus it's just outside the ULEZ). Will continue to come back. Please keep up the good work :)

Home cooked Thai food from the sweetest couple. The sweetcorn fritters have a tight crunch which gives way to the par-carmelised sweetcorn. The Pad Thai finally nails that line between sweet and spice. The green curry gently hugs the rice and veg/meat leaving you feeling light and warm. The homemade brownies are a perfect finisher too. All this with a view of the park

A lovely cafe on the edge of a large park with fantastic staff who are really friendly. The coffee is excellent and Rung's Thai food is delicious.

Cannot believe the lady wanted to charge me 7.00 for bacon egg and fried slice!! The same as a small breakfast ( bacon sausage egg beans and toast) I've enjoyed the Thai here before but I won't be coming g back!

Great food, most of us had Thai and it was great. A good menu and fantastic friendly and helpful personnel. Good choice of cakes too. Will be sure to go again.

It's got good service and coffee but they kicked me out after I drank my coffee saying that they need to bring the chairs in. Don't really get that since cafes are generally places you can hang out. It was very quiet so didn't really get why they cared if I was working there

I've not rated the food as didn't get a chance to try it. Was out with my 3yo daughter in the lovely park thinking of going in to get a bite when an incredibly rude lady (not sure if she is the proprietor) started berating me loudly for parking in parallel in the car park and "occupying space for four more customers" (no matter about a quarter of parking spaces was still empty!). I calmly tried explaining that there were absolutely no parking lines painted and I only parallel parked to make it easy for the other cars to exit parking and that I was sorry for parking "wrongly". However, she kept shouting that it was not her problem that we didn't know the rules of parking (there weren't any, we checked!). So I advised her she could have said all of this nicely and left with my daughter bewildered at the whole incident. The place may have the best food ever but I can't support a business that behaves this badly with potential customers. P.S : I should mention there was a gentleman next to her who was understanding of the situation but not sure if he was a customer or someone from the cafe.

What an awesome find! Popped in almost by accident, just for an ice cream for the kids and feel like I've stumbled on to a hidden gem, right on my doorstep! Food was excellent, cooked fresh to order and super tasty, cafe was beautifully decorated, really clean, all the little extras you could hope for like fresh water, doggie biscuits, etc. But the best thing of all was the service! You were made to feel like family! I didn't want to leave! Definitely going back for more spicy squid! Not telling the wife though, it's my little secret getaway!

Fantastic lunch. Fresh food, excellent Brit and Thai menu. My curry was delicious. Service was super friendly and for once, a healthy and freshly prepared kids menu. We’ll defiantly drop by again and perfect for a return Gatwick trip.

A lovely cafe overlooking the green at the Coulsdon Memorial Ground. It’s a place to go alone for a coffee and read a magazine, or with family/friends. The couple that run the cafe, Barry and Rung are excellent. They are friendly, funny and a great team. Their food covers traditional English breakfasts, sandwiches and cakes, but they also have a Thai menu. If it is past 12 noon, I often find myself ordering from this side of the menu! The Thai food is fresh, portions are generous, and so tasty. Can’t recommend this place high enough.

This is a fantastic cafe serving delicious hot and cold drinks, English food and the best Thai food I've ever tasted. Making it even more special are the wonderful couple who run it who are always polite, friendly and where nothing is too much trouble. If you're lucky enough to become a regular (as myself and my son are!) you're really made to feel part of their family! Thank you for bringing such a brilliant place to Coulsdon!

I only put one star because it wouldn't let me comment with zero I went in with my child and first off didn't have what was on the menu Ordered 2 kids meal and was charged 18 pounds so I questioned it and he had over charged by 7 pounds the tai women cooking kept shouting at the man and he was shaking his head and muttering shut up all un front of my child Waited ages for food and when questioning how long the man became very aggressive and the women told him to shut up Very bad customer service

Lovely little cafe, pleasant staff and lovely Thai food. Seating is an eclectic mix of wicker, metal chairs and bench’s some indoor and outside tables. Parking at the memorial park is free but only about 10 spaces. First visit but will be back to sample more. Pad Thai was delicious.

I have visited this little cafe several times and feel I need to share this amazing little gem with other locals. Barry and Rung deserve a gold star! With Barry as front of house and Rung chef supreme, they make a good couple serving a wide selection of food - which is jolly good. Try the Thai King Prawn Rolls which are home made and jam packed with prawns. The cafe is mega clean and for someone like me who is very careful where I eat, I am 100percent confident. There’s an inside eating area as well as a lovely terrace overlooking the green. Ideal for stopping and grabbing coffee and cake after a dog walk or to treat yourself to a lunch - either way you’ll be guaranteed a warm welcome (even the dogs remember and wait patiently at the door for their biscuit). As for us humans? We salivate whilst anticipating the food! Go in try it, you won’t be disappointed. Lorna

We recently had a Thai takeaway from here on a Saturday night. Absolutely brilliant food. Extremely quick, even on prime time Saturday. Really friendly owners who are always happy to see you. You’d struggle to find a better local Thai than Poppy’s.

Really lovely Café in the park. Food is delicious and really kids friendly menu options. After 5pm the Thai food is amazing. Not nessesery what one would expect in a small cafe......will be back again! Plus is fantastic value.

Great location and good menu. However service was very slow. Our drinks (two coffees) took about 20 mins to arrive. Food was average. I ordered the massaman and was very disappointed. Not authentic and very watery. Not enough curry/gravy to soak up the rice, although good amount of chicken.

Such amazing food. Cafe is run by a lovely, friendly couple who make exquisite thai food. They also serve coffees and cakes. I only ordered thai food and it was the best I’ve had in a long, long time. The menu is small but perfect.

Really friendly cafe, who get to know all their customers by name :-) Situated in a nice little park with a good children's playground. Good, hot coffee, delicious Thai food and homemade brownies - who could ask for more?! :-)

I have eaten at this cafe a few times now, the normal lunchtime fare of sandwiches, things on toast etc, which were all very nice. I have also ordered the Thai food they do, as as a takeaway, it's cooked on the premises, and you can see the nice clean kitchen. It was really lovely food, and good value for money. The best review is can give is that I am on my way to collect one now!

Please ignore the bad reviews before this place was taken over by new owners in Summer 2019! I never write reviews but the Poppy Cafe deserves high praise. My husband and I moved to Coulsdon last year and had our first meal there in August 2019 when having a viewing for our future home. We enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast which was tasty and generous in size. We did not realize that card payment was not possible at that time (as they had just opened, no problem now) and were unable to pay for our meal right away. They were so courteous and friendly, trusting us to come back to pay after our viewing after having gone to the cash machine on the high street. Since then we have popped by many times to pick up some of the delicious Thai food they offer alongside the regular cafe food (scrambled eggs, sandwiches etc.). We, especially my husband (who works from home) enjoy their pad Thai. The owners are just lovely, they make us feel so welcome and greet us by name (well, my husband’s name for sure) as if we were there daily even though we just pick up a food order every other month tops (this place has incredibly fair prices but we need to watch the pennies refurbishing our new home otherwise we would eat their food weekly with pleasure!). The male owner and the Thai ladies are always up for a friendly chat and some banter alongside the reliably great service. We usually place our order in advance and pick it up as arranged. The food is always hot, fresh, generously sized and ready on time. See you soon again, Rika & Anthony

Had a wonderful family meal from poppy cafe last night a real treat. We walked to the park and sat on rugs eating fantastic freshley cooked thai and japenese dishes. Generous portions and very good value. Then had delicious ice cream for pudding. Really friendly owners too. Looking forward to our next visit!

What a lovely cafe and very nice staff me and my son met after not seeing each other personally for over 4 months because of both being vulnerable and shilding from covide 19 we decided to go to the cafe because it was a lovely place and could still be one meter apart the staff and food was fantastic we would like to say thank you to Barry and his wife you a lovely cafe . Since the new owners took over a year or so ago this place has become a firm local favourite. They serve all your usual park cafe food but they do a pretty full Thai menu too. Everything is cooked to order so as mild or spicy as you want. The Thai ladies are super friendly and cook amazing food, you can even take away. Don’t think they open Mondays so bear that in mind. Plenty of outside seating too. Think they’re now opening late into the evenings a couple of days a week too where you can brink your own alcohol.

Very nice little cafe with good coffee. There were an array of treats on offer which I unfortunately did not partake in. Decent sized typical cafe menu, with the added bonus of the fresh Thai food (I believe this was 7-9 pounds for the full meal including rice). Would be great in summer but was also nice as a hideaway from the rain as it has views across the park.

The owners are so friendly. My dogs were also happy as they got a dog treat too! Nice coffee and shortbread. Good option to pop into when walking the dogs at the park.

The Poppy Café has added a bit of vibrancy to the park. They serve decent Thai food for adults. But as a recommendation, the kids menu needs a review. Chips and fishfingers is a bit boring/unhealthy.

Stunningly good Thai food to eat in or takeaway. We've eaten there several times now and every meal has been spectacular. Made to order, dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for. For those who aren't keen on Thai food, there are also the regular café type options of sandwiches, paninis etc Free car park, a beautiful park to look across and both indoor and outdoor seating available. Go on, treat yourself, you won't regret it. For opening hours it's best to check, but I believe they're open every day until 5 or 6pm except Mondays.

Had breakfast here this morning and I have to say the food was delicious and the brand new owners are really nice and friendly too. Keep your eyes peeled for some Asian food on the menu soon! I'll definitely be going back and highly recommend it!!

Went for brunch and new owners were absolutely lovely, as was the food. There wasn’t a veggie breakfast on the menu but they made us one up. Highly recommend!

I visited a few days after re-opening and again a couple of days later. The setting remains fantastic (of course) but the standards of decor, cleanliness and food quality have improved radically. A new Italian coffee machine was awaited when I visited (was due the following week) so I enjoyed a pot of their "Teapigs" tea. Leading with quality ingredients, even down to the tea used, is a very good sign indeed. I believe Thai meals will supplement the traditional cafe menu soon 🤩 Have a game of putting or bowling in the park to work off your lunch- open every afternoon between Easter and September
