We went to Pop on a Saturday early evening. Not from the area, we were struggling for a place to eat with 2 hungry small children. The guys at Pop welcomed us despite no reservation. The food and drink was out of site (the ribs and wings!!!!!!) and the kids were treated to an on the spot made dessert while they watched! We felt so welcome! Can't recommend highly enough. If ever in Exeter again we will be back!

The menu said Best ever toastie, and it was indeed the best ever toastie I’ve had. I would eat that every day! The almond croissant was to die for too. The service was great, really friendly and helpful.

Lovely place and went with a group of friends. Food looked and tasted delicious, Pizza and toasted sandwiches but definitely not ordinary pizza and toasted sandwiches, their pizzas and their toasted sandwiches are amazing. Service and wine was great too and will definitely be back next time I’m in Exeter. Do try it if you’re in the vicinity.

Stop right now! And book yourself in to this amazing restaurant. We’ve been a number of times this year and the Detroit pizzas are out of this world. Today we had the special which had smoked bratwurst, currywurst sauce with mustard, crispy onions and pickled red cabbage. Yeah, special alright. Washed downed with some Sauvignon. The guy running it is a legend and their passion for food shines through. If we could rate more than 5/5 then show me the options. Pop!

Excellent food, coffee and service. Popped in for a quick bite and opted for the tiramisu. It was quirky and nice. You pour in the coffee onto the tiramisu base. Delicious. Will be more adventurous when I have time next time.

This place does a mean toasted sandwich. You could get one from costa or a meal deal elsewhere for under a fiver but these things are serious. Big fillings, tons of cheese. Proper thick slices of bread, meat. It's awesome. Not gonna get as much or as good for a tenner with change enough for a drink. Had ribs, too. These were pretty respectable too. Bit of a hipster vibe to it, great spot if you want something indulgent and affordable without having to suffer stepping into a copy-paste fast food franchise outlet. I'm coming back for the pizza. All this place is missing is draft beer.

Amazing pizza a unique take on a 'detroit style' pizza with loads of flavour. one pizza is easily enough for 2 people but it's really good the next day too! small independent restaurant with great customer service. as an exeter man I am really pleased to see these guys in the city centre. a breath of fresh air... we had vegetarian pizzas and can't wait to go back.

Awesome! Rob and Luke look after you as if you’ve been friends for years, nothing a problem. The history of the drinks and food just make it extra special.

Such a great independent cafe/bar. I stop in for coffee every week as the staff are just so friendly and the coffee is great. Have eaten there 3 times now and the food is amazing. So flavoursome, really great chef. The manager makes you feel like you are an old friend. A great find in a city centre full of chains.

I really want to love it here, it’s exactly what Exeter needs.. but the dough for a Detroit pizza is all wrong, it’s so dense it’s basically a loaf a bread. The flavours are all there but they should try a focaccia style dough!! I’m not sure if the guys have ever been to Detroit Pizza London before but they should for research. Again, I’m not trying to hate or be negative. Maybe a more dense dough is what they are going for but I really want this place to be good and I think this would make it (like I said, the flavours are there)

I visited Taco-Macho for a family birthday recently. The restaurant is in the upstairs of the Cuckoo Taproom so plenty of of opportunity for pre and post dinner drinks. Gustavo, Taco Macho owner, is a really generous host, his food really is utterly delicious and I could probably eat there every day! :) Everything is very reasonably priced and the restaurant space is small and chilled. There is also the option to have your food in the pub downstairs. Highly recommended!

Generally don't submit bad reviews - life too short, but was quite offended by this place. First ever visit here today, tho I often come to Exeter and go to lots of cafes with my laptop to work, and generally have a good experience. So went in and approached the counter, where the staff quite honesty looked annoyed at my presence. Was curtly told to take a seat, which I did, and then come back and order. Found a seat and went back to counter and asked for the £6 bacon sourdough sandwich and hot drink deal. Again, staff were quite unfriendly and then rang up the order and asked for £8 something. When I pointed out that it was £6 they looked really fed up and the manager tried to make out that I was ordering the wrong thing for the deal, which I wasn't. I then went back to my table and asked if I could work on my laptop and plug it in (something I always do out of basic curtesy). The sandwich came and had one rasher of bacon in it, and the cortado I'd ordered was the worst rendition of that Spanish classic I've ever tasted - 6 quid for that!! Anyway, I ate (as was hungry - this was my breakfast), worked for a bit on my laptop and left about 40 mins after I'd gone in. The staff completely ignored me as I left, even as I attempted to say goodbye. The bad food I can accept - its basically for students who know no better, so the place can rest on its laurels - but I was treated by the staff as though I was just some enormous turd that they didn't want in there. They were clearly students, and I guess it being Exeter, were of the spoilt, self-entitled variety who feel that basic manners don't apply to them? Who knows - anyway, won't be going there again!!
