Generally don't submit bad reviews - life too short, but was quite offended by this place. First ever visit here today, tho I often come to Exeter and go to lots of cafes with my laptop to work, and generally have a good experience. So went in and approached the counter, where the staff quite honesty looked annoyed at my presence. Was curtly told to take a seat, which I did, and then come back and order. Found a seat and went back to counter and asked for the £6 bacon sourdough sandwich and hot drink deal. Again, staff were quite unfriendly and then rang up the order and asked for £8 something. When I pointed out that it was £6 they looked really fed up and the manager tried to make out that I was ordering the wrong thing for the deal, which I wasn't. I then went back to my table and asked if I could work on my laptop and plug it in (something I always do out of basic curtesy). The sandwich came and had one rasher of bacon in it, and the cortado I'd ordered was the worst rendition of that Spanish classic I've ever tasted - 6 quid for that!! Anyway, I ate (as was hungry - this was my breakfast), worked for a bit on my laptop and left about 40 mins after I'd gone in. The staff completely ignored me as I left, even as I attempted to say goodbye. The bad food I can accept - its basically for students who know no better, so the place can rest on its laurels - but I was treated by the staff as though I was just some enormous turd that they didn't want in there. They were clearly students, and I guess it being Exeter, were of the spoilt, self-entitled variety who feel that basic manners don't apply to them? Who knows - anyway, won't be going there again!!

A fab independent coffee shop. Very rustic and cozy inside. Was given a warm welcome. Coffee was hot and delicious. We didn’t eat but the menu looked good. We shall have to return! x

We have been to Coffery and Co several times over the last few months and it is our favourite place to go to for coffee in Exeter! We pre booked our table for today and brought our grandchildren for an extra special treat before the panto! The coffee was delicious, the freshly cooked pancakes were out of this world and the smoothies a huge hit! Despite being short handed the service was 1st class and the team really made us feel special! Thoroughly recommend this excellent place!

I don’t normally leave a bad review on Tripadvisor or any others. However so, this place seriously needs to improve their services. So I am reporting as it happened at 4pm on 19/10/2021. We (as a couple) went into Coffee & Co in Exeter for just a coffee stop. My partner went to the counter and asked if they still serve ‘eat-in’ customers. The male server said yes. He advised my partner to sit at any tables to waiting for a table service as we’re ‘eat-in’ customers. We sat down by the window. The menu was on the table so we had a look and decided our order. 5min went, nobody came to take our orders. I went to get some self-serving tap water. 10min went, still nobody came. All we could see was all the serving staff members including the aforementioned male staff chatting to each other by the till. My partner went to the toilet and called for an attention. He was given the menu by the staff. No body came for another 5min. So we were wondering about their service. Was it an intentional ignorance? If not, all the staff members there were too busy for chatting and also being super forgetful about their work? For another a few minutes went but nothing happened. Obviously we walked out the door. One of the female staff members said a loud ‘bye’ to us as we walked out. I wondered if she ever knew we didn’t get served for anything. Nor we paid for any items even if we were served, then? It’s a real shame because it could have been another nice review to drop if we had a nice coffee and a good service. But the truth was that we got never been served and waited for more than 15min for nothing. I grew up in London so I know the fact that none of the bad businesses like this place would never survive in a bigger city. To be fair, our visit to Exeter/Devon had been super wonderful up until the moment we went into this coffee place. Just to prove that we were there, I took a photo of the menu. All I can say is that there’re many other nice coffee places nearby. So please go other places if anyone wishes to have a good coffee break in Exeter. Needless to say that I’d not hire any of the staff members there today if this was my own business to look after.

Lovely cafe serving deliscious breakfast and coffee. The service was friendly and the breakfast we've ordered was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Great options for kids too. We'd come here every day if we stayed in Exeter for longer. Highly recommend.

If you love delicious food, excellently made coffee and lovely staff, this is the place to be in Exeter. Very reasonably priced for the excellent quality - the food definitely impressed (go for the cumberbatch bagel.) The coffee is delicious, excellently roasted and made by talented staff. Delicious coffee and even nicer food. We've eaten brunch here several times and their eggs Benedict is delicious and the eggs perfectly cooked. We also recommend their take on egg in a hole. Everything is a good size and reasonably priced.

Friendly atmosphere, good hot chocolate. Only criticisms are that the drinks are a little on the expensive side and the cafe itself is a little dark.

Only recently discovered Coffery and Co but it’s lovely! Love that there’s no extra charge for plant milks and their drinks are so nice. Really friendly staff too. Would recommend the oat hot chocolate and the oat maple & cinnamon latte!

Was going to be a creature of habit and hunt down BTP for breakfast but thought I should be supporting local independents at this challenging time. Opted for my usual go to of pancakes with maple syrup and bacon - a huge stack of large but light pancakes arrived with lots of bacon and maple syrup - delicious. Flat white was also really good. Service was efficient & friendly. All in all a good choice.

I stumbled across this place and it was the best find! The staff were really friendly, flexible and accommodating, while the food was some of the best I’ve had at a cafe. This is a great addition to the Exeter cafe scene!

I visited Taco-Macho for a family birthday recently. The restaurant is in the upstairs of the Cuckoo Taproom so plenty of of opportunity for pre and post dinner drinks. Gustavo, Taco Macho owner, is a really generous host, his food really is utterly delicious and I could probably eat there every day! :) Everything is very reasonably priced and the restaurant space is small and chilled. There is also the option to have your food in the pub downstairs. Highly recommended!

Took lunch with my 4 year old grandson and wife on the 21/5/ in Exeter. The first impression were very “chic” venue as we hoped. The service was rather Pedestrian although ok. We ordered just one Pizza, and hot drinks, as we had planned our main evening meal already. The pro firstly: The pizza was pipping hot, and flavours were absolutely delicious! In fact, the best we’ve tasted since our New York trip in 2019 eating out in one of their finest Pizzeria’s! Cons: We were not give a sensible choice of seating with our grandchild. We were seated on bar high stools, looking out the window line abreast? We subsequently became aware of ample table seating downstairs after starting our meal. Only one tabled was occupied at the time. The Pizza was served on a platter, but no cutlery offered considering we were sharing? No serviettes were provided. No child plate offered? We had to request these items unnecessarily.... I also expected of any good Restaurant to be asked “ how we were finding our meal” as a common courtesy. In hindsight not the place to take children I feel, but as an adult venue it’s ticks all the boxes. The Waitress clearly needed to spent more time being astute when dealing with customers, rather than socialising with bar staff..... A very nice place mildly spoilt, by disappointing customer service.
