Unsure what to expect, but certainly not disappointed. Although the menu is limited the taste compensates for in the relaxed, friendly family run venue. Particularly enjoyed the chicken wanton in the chilli vinegar and will be taking advantage of the takeout delivery for that tricky-to-buy-for Xmas gift. Looking forward to my return visit.

16 counter/ bar seats around the bar with chefs table concept. Limited selection of food and drinks for lunch. More Selection for dinner and changing the menu on the 3/10. Seating - high chair with no back rest- could be tad bit more comfortable . Lychee spritz was nice and refreshing. Noodles- on the dry side, had some sauce at the bottom with a few beans. Vegetable in dish was fresh. Service was attentive. A quick turn around of 35 minutes for lunch.

The food here was fantastic. We stumbled upon this place after looking for somewhere nearby Kings Cross. We were nearly tempted by a few other restaurants nearby but glad we continued to Xia Kai. Whilst it has a very unassuming interior the food certainly made up for this. The menus are all represented by pictures and a brief decoration which was excellent. All 3 of us commented on how good it was. I’d definitely recommend finding this place and going for some lunch or dinner. I had beef in chilli oil which was probably one of the best Chinese dishes I’ve ever had in the UK! Go and enjoy the food.

One of the better meals at this traditional favorite in Mayfair. The food was well-prepared and presented nicely on this occasion.

a small place in a basement in Paddington, good traditional Malaysian dishes, beware on the hot ones...fair prices and nice service.
