Poon's Street Food in Carmarthenshire

Absolutely delicious Thai food! I cannot rate the place more highly. The food is so tasty, our favourite Thai restaurant ever. Wonderful friendly service, the gentleman front of house and the waitress were so attentive, chatty and made us feel so welcome! Great value, delicious food, and the ice cream and cakes were top top too! What more is there to love!

Everything was closed except Poon's so went in for lunch. From the moment we entered where we were greeed so friendly and the food was amazing. You could have normal cafe food or Asian dishes which we had and could not believe how good it was. It is set up as a cafe but everything else was like a top restaurant. Had a great laugh with the owner.

Went for lunch as a family and had the prawn dish with noodles and chilli, black bean, gammon and chips. Omg! Delicious. Food was piping hot and all was delicious. Went back for sausage ciabatta the next day wonderful and the sausages were from the Coach house butchery opposite. So nice we bough £40’home with us. Don’t miss Poons -herself and husband are a delightful couple. We can’t wait to go back in June. Excellent

Just the best food! Four of us had lunch here and then returned with two other friends for dinner Thursday evening. The food is yummy and the owner huge fun and very interesting. His wife very friendly also. Would highly recommend a visit or two..thank you very much!

Food was nice but they were busier than they could cope with. Went to collect a takeaway, arrived to pick up it wasn’t ready, asked to come back in 15 minutes, they took my number and we went next door for a drink, they rang after 5. Order was missing accompanying rice and prawn crackers. Waited while they were cooked. Realised when we got back we had been overcharged by £5.

Fantastic slow cooked beef, Thai curry, dish of the day and not something I may have picked from the menu, it came recommended and was great, delicate but full flavour, tasty and one I would love to have again, soon! A lovely few hours with friends and all enjoyed our meals. Thank you very much

We are so glad we visited Poon’s!! Excellent food and just the most lovely service. Would like to relive it all again! We had Thai green curry and pad Thai and both were enormous and incredibly delicious. I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and I think it might actually be the best one I’ve ever had. The couple who serve the food and drinks are just so lovely. They were so kind to our 17 month old and we all felt very welcome. You can bring booze but we had their very reasonably priced soft drinks. They also do takeaways which seemed to be very popular - eat in if you can because you’ll receive the most genuinely warm and friendly service, but it’s nice to have the option of a takeaway too! If/when we return to the area we will absolutely be back!

We tried to go on Tuesday but it was closed so we tried again Saturday bingo it was open what a gem,both of us ordered pad Thai one prawn the other chicken for me. We have both been to Thailand and this as near to the food you get there,this place is not licensed so you can bring your own wine ,if you are around these parts it worth a visit

Cannot recommend this lovely restaurant highly enough - not our first visit today and nor will it be our last - the food is SO good; both Thai cuisine and English meals are excellent with a good range of choices - lovely atmosphere to dine in and a lovely welcome from the proprietors. My meal was so enjoyable and I ordered an extra helping to take home! Opening hours at this time of year are obviously reduced so check before you go. We first came across this little restaurant by chance in the summer. and although the place was packed out they accommodated another 6 of us - lots of choice on the menu and food allergies are catered for. Coffee and cakes are there for anyone who just wants a quick break - but really suggest you don't miss out of what is on the menu!! Already looking forward to our next visit.

Quite simply the most delicious Thai beef curry I’ve ever tasted - I bought two extra portions to take away! So friendly and accommodating, loved taking our own alcohol. Atmosphere very relaxed, a mix of locals and tourists. Will definitely return.

What a gem of a restaurant, it looks so unassuming from the outside but once inside you could not be made to feel more welcome. The thai food was incredible and we will be back.

Lovely little find on a busy bank Holiday Sunday. Owner Vincent was so casual and friendly, acknowledged my little grandson Tommy not just us adults which will always score brownie points. He rearranged tables to accommodate us and I cannot praise the service we received enough. They do not serve alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own with a £1 corkage fee. Down to the food, Poon absolutely cooks the most delicious Thai dishes, the ingredients were fresh and crisp. We ordered sausage egg and chips for Tommy and my daughter asked for a hard egg as Tommy doesn't like the yolk, without any fuss the just cooked his egg after removing the yolk. The lady who brought his food was so pleasant, checking if this order was correct, sorry didn't catch her name. Our food arrived stirred fried chicken with noodles and stir fried prawns with rice.. both extra spicy... absolutely delicious... we will definately return x

Called in on our way back home from a week in Pembrokeshire as a bit of a spontaneous decision. Are we glad we did though as this is the first time we’ve eaten here and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone! What an incredible place to eat if you like Thai food (they do other food too including breakfast etc) but we went for the Thai meals. From the moment we walked in the door the reception from the waiting staff was fabulous and very friendly and welcoming. The service was fantastic and the authentic food we had was second to none! We will definitely be back when we are passing by!!! Thanks very much!

Popped in to Poon’s for breakfast - delicious, and very reasonably priced. Best coffee in Laugharne (they use fantastic Coaltown coffee). Very family-friendly, and run by the loveliest of couples.

The best ‘home cooked’ Thai meal. We’ve been to Poons’ on a number of occasions and the quality and value is excellent. It’s a really welcoming local venue that accommodates tourists and local alike. A visit to Laugharne necessitates a visit to Poons.

Went for a takeaway meal. We both chose Green Thai chicken curry with rice. It was served quickly and while we were waiting the owner chatted to us. The meals were excellent, containing good portions of chicken and a very tasty sauce. Would recommend it.
