A lovely little cafe but with excellent food at good reasonable prices served by friendly and jolly staff and very well situated from the main car park in Sturminster Newton (Stur) Also don't forget to buy their lovely Turkish Delight.

We were passing through Sturminster today and it was rainy and cold, we were welcomed with open arms by the lovely owner. The food was amazing! The guy was so nice and friendly and chatted with us. I would highly recommend this place.

Very friendly welcome. The owner was lovely with great humour. Wonderful food but my goodness the place needs a good clean. Dead flies in the windowsill, coffee stains down the walls, thick dust on the shelves and food debris in the grooves of the tables. Makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. Shame.

Nine riders made very welcome on a bitter cold day by owner and staff who provided full English and bacon rolls plus hot drinks quickly and at fair prices, cash preferred. Clean and small loo for customers. Complimentary proper turkish delight on leaving. Park on pavement, locals friendly, not an oiks caff. Remember classic bike and car meet 1st Sat of month 9-12. Highly recommended as a rideout destination

Bought two bacon and egg rolls. The ketchup is the cheap sort you used to get in transport caf’s in the ‘70s and then I was short changed by £2 from a tenner. I hope they find this review worth the gain of that £2.

We visited this cafe whilst on our yearly trip to Sturminster Newton. The food was excellent quality and really good value. This place serves some of the best Turkish coffee I have had in the UK and the Turkish delight was amazing. The owner was extremely friendly, hugely welcoming with big smiles and nothing was ever too much trouble. His traditional Turkish dishes were something pretty special too. We liked it so much during our stay that we visited a number of times before we left town and will definitely be heading back next year. This is a brilliant find in Sturminster Newton and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. In short - a great little cafe, good food, attentive service, an amazing welcome and some of the best Turkish coffee around. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed

Stopped here for late lunch after a long walk and devoured the amazing moussaka. Yes it was reheated but man it tasted good (and only £8). Service was superb (owner insisted on us taking away some free baclava after complimenting his Turkish Delight!). Only disappointing parts were the milkshakes (MooShoo I think).

On arrival me and my partner were greeted by a lady who welcomed us warmly. We choose to sit by the window. The lady serving I believe her name was Alison came over and took our order we both had cold drink and choose what to eat of the menu. She went of out the back and cooked our meals of burger and chips. And at £6 a portion it was the best burger I have eaten in a long time. And well worth every penny with the portion size. When the lady was around the front she always had a smile on her face and laughing with other customers as well as us and made us both feel really welcome. This is now our new spot to go and have something to eat and it's all because of the great service by this one lady. Can't fault a thing :).

Today we visited Sturminster Newton and decided to have some lunch, we came across The Poets Corner Cafe, we looked at the menu which looked good and the cleanliness rating on the door was a 5 star so we went in. When we got inside there was female member of staff behind the counter rushing around who seemed fairly stressed. The cafe was not busy even though it was lunch time; in the corner were two young girls sitting at a table and no other customers at all? The member of staff ignored us standing at the counter and shouted over our heads towards the young girls "have you decided what you want to drink yet" we assumed that these girls were known to her because she appeared quite impatient with them. A male entered the cafe who had been outside on his phone and sat down with the girls we then realised that these young girls were actually customers. The staff member then acknowledged us and said "sit down I'm on my own I'll be with you in a minute" we sat down and she came over and asked us what we wanted, we asked for the vegetarian all day breakfast and macaroni cheese a tea and milkshake; we were informed that she would do her best with the food only she had been left on her own by her boss and she was not sure what food there was out the back.Whilst waiting for the food all we could hear was the female staff member moaning loudly and saying " I dunno what I'm doing, he's just gone and left me again to do all the food" The food came out and we weren't expecting too much as we'd heard the staff member say she didn't know what she was doing over and over! I wish I'd taken a photo now, one very Black charcoaled sausage, one very greasy fried egg, burnt mushrooms and the smallest amount of very greasy oven chips not worth serving really. The macaroni cheese was ok nothing to shout about, served with a nice salad however 3 chips were placed on my plate next to the salad, which looked like plating up had been rushed.A short time later a younger lady came into the cafe and stated to her colleague that she had been sent in to help by the manager, she put on her apron and started cleaning tables without moaning which was a blessing as we had hoped for a quiet stress free lunch; however we then had to endure the older lady telling her colleague in ear shot of us how she had been left on her own to cope?If the cafe had been busy I could have understood the staff members concerns, although I'd like to think a bit more professionalism would not have gone a miss; we spent £20.50 and whilst this is not much for lunch we would have paid more to have edible food without the drama!!! Also to add when the Manager came back we were surprised how nicely the staff member greeted him with no mention about "being on her own and not being able to cope" Unless you like eating somewhere where it's like being on the set of Eastenders eating burnt food then go to The Swan or the nice tea tea rooms along the road.

We stopped here for tea and cake quite late in the day after walking 16 miles. We were greeted by the very friendly Turkish owner who couldn't do enough for us. He was very enthusiastic about his food and drink which was refreshing. We had a gorgeous slab of fruit cake which was the best we'd had since Christmas and it was such a good experience that we went back to have sandwiches made for our walk the next day.The little free taster of turkish delight that he gave us was great. This is a friendly and central cafe in a North Dorset market town. Although rather congested inside (not helped by the chairs not going under the table if there are two of you alongside each other), there is a large pavement/pedestrianised area for those who prefer to be outside. There are regular live music events which are an added bonus. There is a good range of coffees and authentic Turkish delight is always on the menu. The most popular meals appear to be the breakfasts and also the breakfast baps which can have a combination of bacon, sausage, mushroom and egg inside them and are among the rolls with the largest fillings that I have ever seen and are absolutely delicious.

Poets Corner is the friendliest eatery in Sturminster Newton and a great place for a leisurely coffee, sandwich, locally-made cake or some Turkish Delight. Very conveniently located next to the Co-Op, the main car park and the pedestrianized part of Station Road, the cafe is popular both among visitors passing through and locals on their lunch break. Poets Corner is also the place to catch up on what's happening in Sturminster and environs. There are outdoor tables in warm weather, and sometimes even live music! Takeaway service also available. A longtime North Dorset landmark.

After a new office opening near this Cafe, I have only had a great experience here. For a cafe you expect a comfortable environment, good drinks and a good batch of food when ordered. I have not once left this place not wanting to go back and would recommend this to anyone visiting Sturminster Newton. I work for a global leading supplier of mobile technology venturing across the country and globe which you would find it hard to find a genuine staff and owner that does care about his customers and will value everyone. I have noticed a bad review from Paniz G and would say it is extremely exaggerated and to be honest I do not even believe it.

A group of friends and I were at said cafe. The cafe was empty. We ordered a toastie and one side of chips. 45 minutes later I went in to the cafe to ask how long my fries would take as there was starting to arrive a little lot of peoIple. I was told that they had not started my order, and that the register was faulty. Therefore they had lost my order. They did not think about going out to ask people about what it was they ordered, so instead they made random dishes that never got eaten. After telling that I wanted my money back in a polite manner, I was told by the owner that I as a customer was not important because he had a lot of others anyway. I have no bad feelings for telling at least 15 people on their way over to this cafe not to buy anything from there. Because I am, after all, not a valued customer. I advise that if you want to eat in Sturminster Newton that you go to one of the other great restaurants, including Mona Lisa Pizza which is opposite this cafe, The Swan Inn or at the White Horse about a mile up the road.
