First time at the Plantagenet, and I must admit it was a great experience. All four of us have a lovely meal, with excellent service. I had the fillet steak which was really good. My only criticism was the rustic chips where a bit soggy and would recommend that you change to the fries, but other than that I’d definitely go back again.

We visited The Plantagenet for our Anniversary meal. We booked a table in the Quay bar so we could bring the pooch with us. I'm sorry I didn't take any photos to share - I wasn't thinking of photos when the food arrived 😂 We had starters of Scallops, Moules and Crab/Mackerel pate, mains of Seafood Linguine and Baked Hake, desserts of Crumble, local ice cream and Sticky Toffee pudding. The staff were super friendly and Welcoming. Great barman too 👍👋 The 3 of us All enjoyed our evening - fabulous food, wish we could visit every week! It was a lovely treat and a great way to enjoy a nice meal, locally. Absolutely recommended. Support local 👍💖💐

We arrived and welcome by the staff who were extremely pleasant, taken to our table, our drinks order was taken. We both ordered starters from the menu and 2meals from the special. The food was excellent, service was also excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant, its place of No 19 in Tenby is an injustice! We’ve eaten in many restaurants in Tenby and this should be No1. Thankyou to the staff and of course the chef, brilliant

Fine dining not at its best, most definitely promoting itself well above the capability of the front of house staff, the chef and their team, The Plantagenet House is a pretentious, self absorbed low light in the thriving culinary offering of Tenby which is obviously living on past glories and owners. We visited The Plantagenet House on Saturday 10th August to make a dinner booking for Monday 12th August for our wedding anniversary, and should have known that there would be issues as the person taking our booking was sternly advised by another staff member that the diary could only be completed in pencil and not pen, which put her in a panic as she was unable to find one, why, is this a thing? We arrived for our 7:15pm booking time a few minutes early and there was confusion where to seat us as the table allocated had been taken by a walk in, this was quickly sorted and we were seated on table 7, a drinks order was taken and despite the wine glasses being different sizes, presented quiet quickly. No ribeye available so the fillet steak and lobster mains ordered, The Goats cheeses tart was good and the plate removed quickly, so my expectations for the rest of the evening were looking up. More walk-ins came, seated around us, orders placed and there food was on the table before any member of staff came back to us, it was about 45 minutes and no sign of our main meals, so my wife asked a staff member if there was an issue with our order, within minutes et voila, they appeared, and here's where the disappointing evening peaked, the food had obviously been sat waiting for some time, to be served to us, the lobster was on the hotter side of warm and just enough for my wife, the steak however being cooked to medium, looked as though it hadn't been anywhere near to a grill, had no heat in it, the chips were cold, the confit obviously retained heat as the steak was on top of it, after 1 mouthful I mentioned it to a staff member who swiftly took it away whilst apologising, expecting a 10/15 minute wait, but no, the same plated fillet steak/chips/confit was back in front of me within 3 minutes and was a steaming plate of microwaved blandness, I called over another staff member, and advised that I was not happy that my fillet steak had been microwaved to get it hot, again more apologies and the offer of selecting another item from the menu or a drink, but I'd seen and tried enough to sit and wait for anything else, so politely refused the offer. So yes the fillet steak was removed from the bill and the bottle of wine complementary, but with the following comment, "don't give us a bad review because your wine is free", really shows what this place is all about.

An unexpected culinary treat. The food was carefully prepared and beautifully presented with generous portions. We both had fish dishes (hake; seafood linguine). Service was friendly and the atmosphere was both comfortable and intriguing in this very old building. We would definitely recommend it and would return should we be in the area again.

We’ve always enjoyed eating at the Plantaganet, but it’s been a while since we last went. Our meal last night was so good, I felt I should write a review. We had scallops with black pudding and moules marinieres for starters. Absolutely delicious! The GF roll was a bonus (the whole menu can be adapted to be gluten free which is refreshing) For mains we had lamb and pork belly. Both were exceptional. We managed to share a dessert despite feeling very full - very tasty chocolate torte. The service as always was lovely and the atmosphere is mellow. It was a special anniversary for us and we couldn’t have had a better evening to celebrate. Best meal we’ve had in a long time.

We’ve been a couple of times before and loved it, though this time we were sadly disappointed. The prices were far higher than previously (£15-£20 starters, £23-£35 mains, £8.50 for a bread basket and £9.95 for a side salad) though if the quality was there, we’d be happy to pay - sadly, this wasn’t the case. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks, before having to chase those up. Our starters were nice enough, though were left very underwhelmed by our mains - a potato and chickpea curry and Monkfish with prawns - both were very bland and overcooked. We ordered two scoops of rum and raisin ice cream for dessert for £4.95 - this was very small, arriving in a side ramekin rather than a dessert dish or glass. So overall, very sadly wouldn’t return.

Had the lamb was cold and sent back, meal was replaced and the lamb was mostly fat. Had crème brûlée for dessert, again disappointing as was cold and topping was hard and lumpy. Desert menu was limited. Had a lovely meal last night at this beautiful place, we had a late evening meal at around 6.30 pm. We had 3 young kids with us as well and the reception we received when arriving was lovely. The food was exceptional and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The ladies serving were so accommodating and polite. Only disappointing thing was we only had a little bit of cash to leave a tip as they don’t take tips on card which is understandable. Thank you for a lovely evening in the most amazing setting. We’ve had many great meals here but were a little disappointed this time. The fish options were excellent, but the meat choices were not to the same standard. I would not order the braised chorizo again as both flavour and texture was not to my taste. The lamb was well prepared but the dish was bland. We will be back as previous experience has always been fantastic so I’m hoping this was a one off.

The staff were pleasant and attentive, but the food was very poor. My starter of Thai fishcake was bland and bready with no accompanying piquant sauce. Unlike any Thai food I've ever encountered. The prawns stylishly perched on top of my fish soup were so overcooked that there was nothing edible left in them to eat. Considering the time it takes for these prawns to grow, how expensive they are and how delicious they would have been if cooked by someone who knew what they were doing, it was a cynical treatment of a valuable ingredient. The rest of my group were too polite to complain to me, but it was an expensive and disappointing meal. I would not go there again.

Disappointing! I booked weeks in advance anticipating a special meal with friends to celebrate our 1st evening in Tenby. From the start service was friendly, however, painfully slow and disorganised. Our first drinks took almost half an hour to arrive. They eventually noticed the four of us trying to gain their attention and realised they had forgotten us. Similar experience whilst waiting between courses and then they forgot one of the sauces. We were asked twice if sauce for steak had arrived by different staff and still continued to wait. Food although marginally above average was so overpriced; a meal to remember for the wrong reasons!

We visited today for a light lunch whilst we were in Tenby. The building, decor and ambience promised much, being a period building adjoining a Tudor Merchant's house, down a pretty side street, near the harbour with quirky artefacts and original features. Sadly, the food and service were utterly underwhelming. The crab in my crab sandwich was practically pureéd; no chunks of luscious white meat and the brown meat could have come from a jar of Shipham's crab paste. The fries (£extra) were very good and husband's parsnip soup was adequate but we had to ask TWICE for some bread. He'd eaten most of his soup by the time it arrived and the water was very condescending when he delivered it. Service overall was poor; three young men, more interested in having a laugh and a chat behind a curtain than in seeing to diners. Indeed, a couple of prospective diners left after hovering at the door and nobody bothering to greet them. No-one bothered checking whether we were happy with our food, even when we left. A shame because we are normally generous tippers. Wouldn't recommend and won't eat here again.

Really disappointed with this place. It took us 3 days to get into the basement as we had a dog , so were expecting great things as it was obviously very busy. I had mushroom linguine, which had no flavour at all. The salt pot on the table was full of damp salt, I had to take the bottom off to get any out. On a visit to the ladies I was confronted by a man stood using the toilet. The soap dispenser didn't work, and the hand towel dispenser was broken. For the extortionate prices they charge, surely they could fix it up a bit. Would not recommend to anyone. Felt very disappointed

I ordered oysters as a starter - they were fine. For main I ordered the “Hake Fillet; pan fried, Pembrokeshire new potatoes spinach puree, mussels, lobster bisque” at £27.95 I have no idea where the lobster bisque was, it certainly wasn’t on my plate and...

This restaurant used to be known as one of the best restaurants in Tenby. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. As visitors to Tenby we are not sure what has changed, but we assume it is under new ownership and has a new chef....

Lovely meal, nice atmosphere great service. Until the manager/ owner snatched my card out of my hand claiming the contactless card machine didn’t work and instead my card himself. I Probably didn’t have the correct accent for Tenby as I’m from Swansea. I’m not easily...

We walked in off the street without any particular expectations. Really friendly staff who managed to find a table at a busy time. Rather limited menu, but the food was delicious although portions were rather small - a few extra veg would not have gone...

The waitresses were lovely, really accommodating. The food disappointing. Could only have a set Sunday lunch which was lukewarm and not tasty. The leeks where in a bowl of thickened milk

We went for Sunday lunch and had the sharing platter , absolutely amazing 3 large portion of meat proper pigs in blankets and meat stuffing. So much veg we loved the swede mash and the cauliflower cheese. Fantastic selection of veg beautifully cooked The portion was so big we brought it home and had it again the next day. Looking forward to trying something else on menu when next in area.

Traditional, characterful pub owned and run by a decent man. Good local customers and selection of drinks. No food but if you want a welcome where you dont have to feel like a holidaymaker, this place is for you.
