Pizza & Pasta Restaurant Piatto in Waveney

This is not a very big place and they only seem to have one sitting. They opened at 6 and we were booked in for 6:30. Every table was full but it wasn't too noisy and there was some background music but it wasn't too loud. We all really enjoyed our food and had a lovely evening. Our waitress was really good too, although she kept telling us that she didn't work there any more she had just been called in to help out. Parking nearby wasn't easy, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. My only complaint is that I was sat on a bench seat and it wasn't very comfortable. It was ok after I folded my coat and sat on that though. I let my wife and my sister sit on the chairs opposite and they didn't have any complaints about their seats.

Excellent venue. Has real authentic Italian character. Staff very welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Food extremely good value and lovely fresh home made pizza. Good choice on menu and although restaurant is small, has a lovely genuine atmosphere, so much more appealing than a chain. Highly recommended.

Always a friendly welcome.On this occasion we particularly appreciated the fact that children are not restricted in their menu choices!

We had a superb dinner at Ristorante Piatto, I loved everything about it. The restaurant felt really cosy, warm and traditional with a view of the kitchen at the back which was nice. It was full when we arrived so booking is probably a good idea. The menu was really authentic, we tried the Antipasti Misti Sharing Platter to start and Garlic Bread with Cheese and Mushroom as a side. For mains we had the Piatto Special pizza and the Griglatta di Pesce seafood platter, consisting of mussels, king prawns and tilapia, which tasted really fresh. To finish we had ice cream sundaes and an Italian liqueur coffee, both of which were lovely. The waiting staff were really friendly and accommodating, with rosemary breadsticks provided on the table as an extra touch. We will definitely be back! 😊

Had a really lovely meal here. The food was delicious, and arrived really fast (can totally recommend the lasagne). Even though the restaurant was really busy (we got there just after opening and within about half an hour it was nearly full), the waitress was superb, especially given she was on her own. She didn't leave anyone waiting, and was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend it if you're in Beccles.

I've eaten here a couple of times and I love it. The food is amazing as well as the staff. It's like a little piece of Italy in Suffolk and I'm definitely going back again soon.

Strangely very empty only us and one other table Complementary breadsticks on table Food was lovely and couldn't fault especially the garlic bread Had a Tiramisu and a brownie cheesecake for our dessert and they were very tasty 😋 Would definitely recommend for anyone looking where to go out to eat

First time visiting tonight and loved it. The food was excellent. Great.choice on the menu. The front of house staff were also excellent.

This really is NOT an Italian restaurant, in fact it's a joke. We visited for the first time,it was 8pm on a Friday night, fairly quiet and was told " as it was 8pm,it would only be pizzas" When the pizzas came,they were absolutely rubbish, nasty dough,and we had asked for pepperoni as an extra,there was hardly anything there amd we were charged £3 for this privilege. £6.95 for a pint, we eat and drink out a lot, but if the quality of the food is good, you dont mind paying the premium on drinks at any restaurant, but to be served a very low quality pizza ( not an Italian pizza by any means) we've had better out of aldi or sainsbury's, I can only imagine thr pizza dough is brought in, not what you expect when you can actually see the chef in the kitchen. Won't be visiting again. £46.80 for below parr,we'd rather pay £60 for quality.

Lovely, authentic Italian atmosphere. I hadn't visited since moving from Beccles about 8 years ago, but was staying nearby with friends and suggested we go. Delighted to learn it was just as good as I remember. Everyone had great food, loved the restaurant, service was excellent. It's a restaurant that deserves to be busier than it is! If we stay locally again, we'll definitely come back again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this traditional family feel Italian restaurant. suggest its best to book in advance as it was full until 9pm. Menu was varied, plenty of choice.Our bottle of Merlot was good and not expensive. Food Was tasty and plentiful. Kitchen looked very clean and well organised,Service was faultless. Well done, hope that you have a busy and profitable December and will be open in 2024 when many more restaurants will sadly close.

A really lovely little place in the heart of Beccles. Food was excellent and tasted authentic. Lots of pizza and pasta dishes. It's a really small place, which is cosy.. but this definitely adds to the atmosphere and is a plus. The staff were friendly and had banter which for me is one of the main reasons I go back somewhere (along with the great food).

For me wife and I, this is our go-to restaurant when we eat out. The food is excellent, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is incredible. To expand on this. The restaurant is small, you should know this going in, but that only adds to the Italian feel. It reminds me of the small restaurants I ate at during my trips to Venice. Everything from the decoations to the music create the ambiance of Italy. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are attentive without being hovering, and you NEVER feel rushed or pressured to eay, pay and leave. On top of this, the menu is incredibly varied and offers something for everybody, making it a great choice for either a romantic meal for two or a fun night out with friends. I cannot speak highly enough of Restorante Piatto, and always leave feeling full, happy and looking forward to the next chance to visit.

Really friendly old fashioned Italian. Delicious lasagne and good pudding. Love the vibe and the canned Italian music and the film posters. Could be 1973 and I love it. And the most friendly, lovely waitress. Only criticism is the plastic grape vines - we need less plastic in this world, not more!

If you like Italian you will love this good food at a reasonable price. My first visit and will be back soon.

Hadn't been here for a good few years but, thankfully, tried again tonight. A really great experience. Service was superb, the menu choices were excellent and the atmosphere was informal and fun. The food was excellent with good portion sizes and really well presented and delivered meals. Great little venue with excellent service and food - give it a go!

I booked a table for five, we received a warm welcome from the staff, the menu is fairly extensive ! Our five different dishes were all very nice, as were the desserts. Sofia the waitress was delightful ! For a Thursday it was lively, and toasty warm on a cold January night. I’m sure we’ll make a return visit in the future. Always keen to support independent businesses particularly in the current economic climate. Thank you !

Amazing restaurant. Menu varied reasonably priced. The mushrooms starter was delicious. I had a pizza and it was the best I have ever had. The waitress were both lovely and efficient.

Great place with delicious food. The salmon tagliatelle is also amazing. Best restaurant to eat in, in Beccles and great value wine. With lovely waitresses and chefs that really look after you !

Jess and the rest of the team are so lovely! My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to have dinner, a little late, admittedly, we came through and they stayed open just for us, it was so cute and such excellent service. The pizzas were absolutely fantastic too, generously topped, and the pan base was super flavoursome; the egg on my Pizza Fiorentina came out as runny as requested. We loved the little breadsticks on the table as well, everything about our little visit to Piatto's was outstanding, and if I lived in the area I would 100% come back. The pizza leftovers made for an A++++ breakfast as well! I definitely would reccommend this place, such a little gem.

Unfortunately wasn’t the traditional Italian food we were expecting, garlic pizza was served raw to us, the dough hadn’t risen as it was completely flat! Disappointing all round waitress was very pleasant

I would give this 0 stars if I could. This is not Italian food!! My lasagne tasted like a cheap Tesco frozen one and the chips actually were crinkle cut frozen chips!! How on earth can you charge £14 for a meal served with frozen crinkle cut chips? My husbands calzone looked the part but was full of hot air and once it had ‘sunk’ the tiny amount of filling was sloppy and had pieces of processed uniform shaped ham and mushed up spinach inside. The sauce also tasted processed. The £7 ‘ice cream sundaes’ were sundae glasses filled with cheap Ice cream and a strawberry on the side. No cream, no biscuit. Next time we will be walking straight past this tired looking ‘Italian establishment’ straight on to Weatherspoons where at least they don’t try to cover up what they actually are and are honest about the food they are serving. Oh and the coffee machine was broken - ‘ will be fixed tomorrow though’😂😂 £51 for processed frozen garbage

Away on holiday thought we would give this a try after reading reviews, was not disappointed defiantly worth a visit suggest booking it was busy on a Tuesday evening . Would have no hesitation in making a return visit .A little hidden gem

We were very disappointed after our visit. We hadn’t booked but on arrival at 8pm was told they had a table but could only serve pizza and no starters. The restaurant website states it is open till 11pm. We ordered pizzas, which were freshly made and okay but nothing special and as we were eating the 2 members of staff were cleaning up ready to close around us. They also turned 2 people away who arrived after us even though there was only us (a couple ) and one other couple in the restaurant .

Had a lovely meal, the baked mushrooms starter was really tasty and could have eaten it again for mains. Staff were all lovely and we'll definitely be back for more.

Waited a hour for starters, ages for next course. Beers are really nice and cold. Waitress was lovely and pleasant .

We went on Sunday evening of the bank holiday weekend without a booking, we arrived at opening time and were the 2nd table seated. The place filled up nicely even though they had only one reservation and the atmosphere was quite convivial. We were a party of six with two small children but we were still last to leave. Recommended.

Booked a table for 2 last minute, food and service were superb. Garlic bread with cheese for 2 was on a thin crust, lovely crunch to it, soft and melty to eat, spaghett bolognaise was light and not heavy and lovely flavours to the mince and to finish off the Panacotta was divine. 10/10 all round and worth a visit.

We were staying at the Kings Head in Beccles and was looking for something different to a night in Wetherspoons. We booked into this Italian restaurant and were glad we did. The serving staff were very attentive and friendly and the food served was freshly made and piping hot, which is always most important. The lady chef who runs the place was also visual for any comments you needed to make. We had a lovely night and would recommend the Piatto as a place to eat whilst in Beccles.

The food was wonderful..just a little cramped as it was full... waiting staff had trouble getting between the diners...

What a disappointment. Have been here many times with my late father and thought we’d try it again but what a difference!! Our pizzas were truly awful. The bases were clearly shop bought and were like biscuits. At home we make our own sauce and pizza dough so know how this should be. Toppings were ok but not great. Staff were lovely and as two of our party had literally not eaten anything they reduced our bill but sadly we will not be returning, what a disappointment given so many previous happy memories.

We used to love coming here with my late father. But visited last week and were so disappointed. We love authentic pizzas and my son creates his own base and toppings but those served up to us were like biscuits with toppings clearly either poorly produced bases or shop bought certainly not a patch on how they used to be. Sadly we had to leave most of our order, it’s true we were given some money off as a result but what a disappointment.

Not sure what went wrong on Sat BUT it tasted like full of hot pepper! Could not eat it, will take back tonight. Have to say so far always been good food. No tomatoes taste, or colour, had to eat spag as so hungry & my birthday treat. As wife away today.

We were going to Prezzo but found they were fully booked so we surched for another local Italian restaurant and came across Ristorante Piatto, how lucky we were as this small restaurant had very friendly staff and the food was the best tasting Italian we have ever had. If you are visiting this area I would very much recommend a visit I am sure you would not be disappointed.

Stick with the pizzas. Under weight portion of boil in the bag pre cooked mussels served with a very meagre portion of crinkle cut chips not french fries . About as far away a one can get for moules frites ! Disappointing does not cover...

Disappointing. The food quality has gone down since the Italian chef left. The steak I ordered was more fat than steak. Most should have been trimmed off before it was cooked but I am guessing the previous chef had left and taken his sharp knives with him, so this was the reason it the fat was not removed. Everyone we spoke to before hand said it was excellent food at a reasonable price. This is no longer the case. The food was ok but the price was on the higher side. If you like ok food at top dollar price then I fully recommend this restaurant.

Both our mains, the Pork shank and Seafood Platter, are tasteless.. totally bland. Italian? NO!! A piece of garlic and a piece of ginger plonked in middle of platter.. what?! After complaining they took pork off the bill but still had to pay for Seafood....

We visited this lovely little restaurant in Aug 2021, didn't look much from the outside, but was pleasantly surprised when we went in, the service was great, and the food was outstanding!! Reasonably priced food too..would definitely recommend 👌

This was recommended to us by the locals in The Caxton Arms when they heard us mention Prezzo. So glad we came here instead. Two youngsters front of house were lovely, really great service. Then the food and wine were great too. An impromptu evening turned out to be unexpectedly excellent.
