Amazing service and help from Iqbal at Chester

We visited last week on a school trip with 29 students and 6 members of staff. All meals were pre-ordered and service ran like clockwork. Excellent service throughout, 29 hungry children served quickly with delicious food. One of our students lost their Invisalign braces - accidentally leaving them wrapped in their napkin - not only did the staff allow us to look through the bins but they insisted on helping and thankfully they were quickly retrieved. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a fantastic evening. Thank you

1 of the best pizzas I have had.

I ordered a pizza that turned out to be burnt and of very poor quality. There was not enough cheese and the extra pepperoni I had ordered did not save anything because it was burnt. A very shameful performance!

Had a lovely evening with my work colleagues. Food was delicious, Elliot was brilliant with a great knowledge of old and new items on the menu. He really made our evening memorable. We will continue dining here.

We booked for 6 people at 5.15 on Sunday 27th April and as usual Pizza Express Chester was excellent. Elliot made a few suggestions of new menu options and cocktails, which some of us enjoyed. Everything served promptly. Delicious food, great atmosphere!

Customer service by the waiter was shocking. Restaurant was empty and nobody to greet so asked if it was ok to sit down and then proceeded to tell us how we shouldn’t have just got a table when the restaurant is busy (it was empty) . Shocking customer service and so rude throughout our time at the restaurant.

The team are super friendly and incredibly accommodating. Ben, Volta, Beth and Iqbal are superb. We visit regularly and just had my son’s 9th birthday - a pizza making party. All the staff are wonderful. Always a warm welcome and attentive service, and they are great with the kids. Thank you!

Busy Thursday night but got booked in fine and very welcoming staff! We ordered a few drinks and starters and mains and all brought out in good time and hot too! No issue at all with what we chose.. very tastey and again we have to give a shout out to our waitress .. forgot to get her name but she was fab 🙂

In general, the pizza dough is good and successful, but you have to wait a long time.

Really good and reliable branch of the chain, time after time. Very good and attentive service. Even when the staff were busy the chef brought the pizzas out to ensure they were served hot. Would recommend. We visit regularly and the app offers good deals too.

Disgusted !!!! I will never buy from here again !!! Spent £60+ on two pizzas which were bone dry hardly any toppings even though I ordered extra this is the worst pizza experience I have ever dealt with I am utterly fuming the prices as well are shocking avoid at all costs please guys. 0/10 Arrived cold/no toppings/no cheese and was expensive.

Utterly disgusted not only by the expensive prices but the Pizza itself was by far the driest most disgusting tasteless pizza I have ever had I am not even kidding. I paid for extra toppings and the Pepperoni one I order 2/3 slices had cheese the 67 remaining had zero cheese on I am not even kidding. The sauces were tasteless/greasy and disgusting as well ! The can of coke was the best part oh last but not least the dry salad with no olive oil and life was the cherry on the top. Bought 2 pizzas and a salad for 60 quid when I could of spent half the price and got a lovely one from CO/OP or Waitrose. 0/10 PLEASE AVOID GUYS ITS RUBBISH.

Our waiter Iqbal was very friendly and brilliantly explained using the app to reduce our bill and changed the pizza around to swap toppings which also saved us money. Food was delicious, would definitely recommend!

I ordered some pizzas and sides for me, a vegetarian, and a friend who is gluten free and dairy free. The padana pizza and honey dough balls were amazing, the padana came as a dairy/ gluten free option as well which was perfect for a shared experience. The variety of dips were great and again had brilliant gluten/ dairy free options. I was very pleased with the food. Thank you!

I had ordered the padana pizza. It's gluten free and vegan. The dips were so flavourful, i couldn't believe they were vegan. I expected the base to be either soggy or too hard but it wasn't and was perfect

Called on for a takeaway & was blown away by the friendliness of the staff I was offered a chair whilst waiting for my food , all staff were cheery.& one girl even offered to open the door on my way out A credit to your company By the way the food was great too

Ordered at half 5, by 9pm food still hadn't arrived. Delivery time changed on at least 10 occasions. At half 8, order was marked as "delivered at 9.30" and then that kept going up. Requested a refund.

We had a lovely meal and a relaxing time at Pizza Express tonight. Our lovely host was amazing - he went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable, well-fed and paying the most user friendly price by offering app services and advice. Such a professional person absolutely made our evening and we were talking about his kindness all the way home. It can be difficult to go out on a snowy, freezing evening but he made it worth it - along with the super fine pizza!

My daughter just had her 8th ‘Pizza Making’ Birthday Party at Pizza Express in Chester City Centre and I was blown away by how brilliant it was. It’s tricky when they are too old for soft play but too young for other activities still - but the pizza making party was absolutely ideal. The team, led by Iqbal were brilliant with the kids, we had 10 kids in total (9 x 7-8 year olds and 1 x 2 year old little sister!) who were kept entertained- throwing the pizza dough, stretching it into dishes, topping their own pizzas and then sitting down for dough balls & veg sticks, then their own pizzas they made (most was eaten proudly!) and then ice cream. Most of the parents want to now book themselves! Thanks so much PE Chester!

Unimpressed, pizza express Heswall was one of my favourite places to eat and unfortunately closed, so thought I'd give Chester a try. Pollo Pestto was my absolute favourite but here it was totally mediocre, just thrown in the dish. My husband ordered calzone which was luke warm and watery in the middle. We had 2 cocktails which given the price where premixed and couldn't be customised. Add to that the toilets were treated as a children's playground! Would have been 2 stars only for the fact they deducted the calzone from the bill. Not recommend.

Had a lovely meal as a family of 3 tonight. Iqbal was absolutely fantastic in serving us and making sure our 3year old had everything he needed. The 3 year old especially enjoyed his meal, he cleaned his plate which is a rare event. Can not fault the staff, cleanliness or food.

Staff on the day were exceptional. Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable /, went digging for some options. Exemplary staff experience.

Food was fast and hot hot hot ! The service was great. I can be a little bit indecisive, the lady was very patient with me and help me decided. I really loved this. It is little things like this that really go along way. So, thank you lady, you are wonderful. I would definitely return here if back in the area.

We always enjoy pizza express in the Chester city centre, food is always great and management are very professional, Mr Iqbal's service is 2nd to none. He always smiles and you feel like been treated like kings. Thank you Iqbal, we will try to pop in before Christmas.

Sadly a very disappointing Pizza . It was rock hard, the cheese was that over cooked it had formed a bubbly solid lattice . I won’t be coming back. Given two stars as the children’s dough balls and pizzas were nice .

Oh my where do I start, we ordered a takeaway but ordered it in store fantastic is not the word. They couldn't of been any better, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. This is my favorite restaurant but even more so now.

We visited for dinner yesterday, before see Heathers at The Storyhouse. We arrived at 5.15 in order to lave by 6.30, after visiting previously to check whether we would need to book. We were told no, that would be a quiet time. Which it was, when we arrived, although it wad full when we left, as many people, in including our party of three, weren't being served! Our simple order, two pizzas and dough balls, glass of wine and two soft drinks was taken by a very friendly and helpful waitress. The manager was also serving. The drinks arrived, but not the food. After becoming increasingly concerned we asked the reason and the waitress apologies, explaining that the only chef working was preparing food for delivery also, and the delivers were getting impatient and angry. Our food arrived just after 6 p.m. The Margherita was fine, the Fiorentina was virtually inedible, so dried out that the egg was invisible (left standing presumably). The waitress could not have been more apologetic or helpful, and the manager agreed to remove our drinks from the bill, hence the two stars. An anxious beginning to our evening, although the professional service at the Storyhouse soothed the nerves of the teenagers, whose theatre visit was a much looked forward to birthday treat. Please do not bother to eat here, there are so many other restaurants; although the takeaway service may he worth a try!

Food was great but pizzas seem to shrink each time we come, we asked for two separate bills on one table. We wanted to use app rewards and Tesco club card vouchers on each bill but were refused. Completely ridiculous rule which needs changing. Otherwise a pretty good experience

Very disappointed, was still eating my starter when they brought my main , no break in between , when mentioned to waiter he blatantly lied and said he had asked four times that we were finished Wish I had break between meals

Pizza Express missed part of the order, I called them but was advised too late as order delivered and to contact Just Eat instead, hopefully i'll get a refund.

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the food was. Only one man was serving the food and drinks to all tables whilst seating people and then delivering the bills at the end. This issue definitely needs addressing as he was really busy and would be easy to make a mistake on an order, etc... overall, it was a good meal for me and my family and the waiter deserves a medal. Hence the 5* service

We arrived with 26 children and 5 adults at the same time as another large school booking. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very organised. Service was slick and the 3 course menu for the children was excellent and enjoyed by all. The adults' food was equally delicious and served promptly. Had a delicious gluten free vegetarian pizza and halloumi bites, my companions had a lasagna and cannelloni which they both enjoyed, it arrived quickly, our server was friendly, polite and professional, and when we were there it wasn’t overly busy, and the sun was shining in, which made for a very pleasant dining experience.

The food and drink was good, atmosphere nice, but service should have been better. As a result, we didn’t leave a tip and we probably won’t return to this particular Pizza Express. I ordered the pale ale which is 330ml and the cheapest ale on the menu, and they gave me (and charged me for) a completely different 500ml golden ale despite having repeated “the pale ale”when I ordered. Sure, I enjoyed the golden ale but it’s not what I ordered. We also asked for water for the table which we had to ask for twice as they forgot about it. When trying to settle the bill it took a while for anyone to notice that we were waiting to pay. None of these were hugely problematic by themselves but in combination it made for a less than ideal level of service.

Really great service from the staff, clean, bright and well presented. The server was very kind and friendly to my little girl, and there were several families in so it obviously has a very welcoming vibe. Overall the food was fab, but I was really disappointed with the gluten free pizza which had barely any toppings and seemed quite tasteless.

We had an excellent meal at Pizza Express, generous and well-presented (I’m always interested in the temperature of the red wine - it’s warm, but that’s ok!) were served by very friendly and efficient staff. We are fans of Pizza Express and a visit is always a feature of a holiday week because, sadly, our local branch closed a couple of years ago. Like all the other branches, the Chester one is spotless with a modern, airy ambience.

A perfect evening! Great welcome, great food prepared with love and attention. A big thanks and we look forward to a return visit over the summer.
