Pizza Express in Eastbourne

I visited Pizza Express with my husband and young son on a Saturday lunch time. The service from our waitress was great and the food was good, we had the dough balls and a couple of pizzas and I can’t fault these. Our visit was tarnished however when I went upstairs to the loos. The upstairs dining area was in a state. They clearly had a large table dine the night before and it was covered in dirty glasses, dessert dishes and cutlery. There was also some parcel packaging left on the table and the floor had food debris. Had I of seen this before our starters had arrived we would have left. This was only around 12:15 so highly unlikely to be from the lunchtime service. The restaurant downstairs was busy although I noticed the manageress didn’t really do anything, just stood in the middle looking around a lot. It wouldn’t have taken her long to clean up the mess. The restaurant itself is also looking long overdue for some decorating. The walls were marked and the floor looked faded and grubby. I was seated by the door and became aware that 2 tables that had booked were asked to wait as their tables hadn’t actually been reserved. I don’t think we would return to the Eastbourne branch of Pizza Express.

First time here for a while: very satisfactory, and an improvement - keep it up.

Food arrived quickly. My pizza was not very warm and if it had been anything else I would have sent it back. Felt very rushed even though there were quite a few empty tables.

The pizza was great. The dessert was fabulous. The service was great. Staff very attentive.

We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party upstairs at pizza express. It was amazing from beginning to the end. The manager and staff were so helpful. They went above and beyond to make it a lovely party. The chef taught the children how to make pizza. She was great with the chilldren . She was funny and got them all into action. It was very sweet! . The servinng staff were so lovely, very attentive and great with the children too. We had the best time. We also ordered pizzas for the parents and it was all so tasty. We were told it’s the best pizza in Eastbourne . Thank you very much for a wonderful experience and making our daughter day so special.

Nice place to eat. Always nice food been cook from a chef called Margherita and been served from the other chef sound from is accent from Italy because waiter was busy. So our pizzas come on the table quick and hot.So our experience on Saturday in pizza express was perfect.

Hello there my name is Morrison and I live in Eastbourne just a few personal experiences and I was delighted by the services within pizza express Eastbourne their delivery service was impressive there was a reliable lady goes by the name of margarita if I am getting the name right she was superb and the all team so fabulous the chef was exceptional super friendly to there who perhaps read my review I encourage you to visit pizza express Eastbourne and I am sure since the service are so that great I wonder what other branches are doing probably the same or even greater please give Eastbourne pizza express a go I am sure you will never disappointed

I think pizza express has really lost their way. Great food and staff were polite and friendly, but the atmosphere and upkeep of the decor is lacking. Feels like a cheap fast food venue, but prices more like a more upmarket restaurant.

Garlic overload and lukewarm pizza was the problem here . Lovely server but one of only 2 or 3 on duty on a busy Sunday lunchtime. We ordered honey doughballs for starters but they were smothered in minced garlic and inedible. There was no mention of garlic on the menu but they were totally ruined by the garlic . I wanted to complain but for the sake of a nice family lunch I just didn’t eat mine , my son ate his and is still tasting it 24 hours later! Pizzas varied from hot to cool as some had been left standing on the side so my wife’s was pretty much stone cold. Pizza express isn’t cheap so these problems should not occur, the garlic issue raises questions about menu descriptions and ruined what was probably a decent starter, garlic just destroys any dish when overdone.

I’m giving this review 5 stars purely because of Helena. I booked for my son’s 16th birthday and the booking experience was odd to say the least. I eventually spoke to Brandon who was apologetic on the phone. We arrived at the restaurant and were seated at 2 round tables that had been pushed together, it was set for 11 but I booked it for 12 people. If 12 had sat down it would have been two separate tables to fit 12 and our group would have been split. They thought we required a high chair but I already informed them via the booking system the youngest party member was 12 years old so obviously some strange confusion going on there. If we did require a high chair I’ve no idea where it would have gone as there wasn’t any room for it. The female manager on tonight did make some quick changes and had the young team set us up another table when some other diners had left. Helena took over looking after our table and thank goodness she did. The manager didn’t speak to us for the rest of the evening apart from goodbyes. What an absolute asset to the company Helena is. Kind, patient, funny, attentive, we left feeling like she was part of our family. I observed her the whole time we were in the restaurant and she was constantly busy, she couldn’t do enough for everyone seated at various tables. She really looked after us and made our evening extra special. If it wasn’t for her our experience wouldn’t have been as good. Thank you Helena! ☺️

Central location. Warm and friendly staff acting as efficient team. No one is waiting long for service. Family orientated with children given activity menus and crayons. When very busy ambient noise can get high making conversation difficult at times. Food was on point as usual, always impressive and accommodating. Great to meet up with friends and family and enjoy some oven fresh pizza with all the trimmings. Can recommend.

Ahoy! So this is a shout-out for HELENA from MADEIRA, who was our server. She was very sweet and helped us poor slugs get the best offer with the minimal dosh we had. Just a lovely lady and does her job very well, she even got our pizza a tad quicker as we had to get out train within 40 mins of ordering. Keep up the good work Helena! :)

Pizza, dough balls and colouring in... what's not to love.

Worst pizza I ever had in my life cold burnt hard hardly any topping no care put into it whatsoever hacked at not cut. Everything was cold I was told originally twelve quid it ended up sixteen with service charge delivery charge disgusting will not ever order from here again not worth a fiver I’m horrified

We ordered a take away pizza and dough balls through Just Eat and it was a Saturday lunch. It was the worse pizza I’ve had it was cold and over cooked hardly any topping. The dough balls were the tiniest bits of bread also cold and came with a pot of what I can only describe as a pot of butter with a hint of garlic. We paid £16 which included delivery and service charge the pizza was an 8 inch and not worth even £5. It was the worse pizza I’ve had. Not cut, hard crust and base never order from there again. And when we complained pizza express offered £6 off our next order ( why would we when they are rubbish)

Myself and family always enjoy our experience at pizza express, food and service was amazing as always and can't wait to visit again soon.

Came here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday night last week, food was brilliant, super delicious! Service was very fast and the man serving us was very kind and attentive, in-fact all of the staff seemed very friendly and welcoming. Dessert as well was really good, we had the brownie and the ‘dough ball snowballs.’ Overall a very good experience, atmosphere was good but quite quiet (although fair enough for a Wednesday night.) Sorted the majority of the bill with our Tesco club card vouchers without any issues which I was pleased about!

Ordered 2 pizza’s and a side, all turned up cold. Only took delivery guy 5 minutes to deliver ( tracked on the app ) so they left the shop cold ( been sat in shop over 30 minutes, again could see this in the tracking app ) Complained to customer services, after a few email responses got offered one free meal, but we had to eat in the restaurant to claim. I ordered a delivery with 2 mains and a side, should have been offered vouchers for the equivalent. Very poor customer service.

Definitely the best pizza in town. If you didn't try rocket on pizza , you must ! 😆

Great food served by an extremely helpful and friendly waitress but oh why do they spoil a piping hot pizza by serving it On an Icy cold plate. They should know better than that.

We love pizza express and whilst visiting our great aunt we popped into the Eastbourne restaurant and we were all very expressed with the restaurant manager Brandan. Our young child accidentally dropped his food all over the floor and without any bother or hesitation brandan came over and cleared it up himself and made my little one smile which is rare for a stranger to do! It’s the little things that you remember when you eat out these days and a service like this really makes you want to go back, generally a really kind worker so thank you. Food was amazing as always and the restaurant itself was very clean with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We will visit again during our next visit in the NY. :)

We specifically went here as its one of the few places with good gluten free options. We had our vouchers ready but turns out they had no gluten free doughballs or pizza bases. Or a lot of other things either... We had a 33% off pizza voucher which kf course was useless since we couldn't order pizza. Paid for some mediocre pasta, tried to ask our server for a discount and she couldn't under stand a word we said. We had a free dessert voucher but at this stage we were too afraid to ask if there was any if the GF desserts available. Abysmal experience all round and really disappointed.

I cane here today for lunch/ dinner the food was fantastic the service was great all the food I had was fantastic every time I come to this location the staff are always friendly the restaurant is always clean and tidy this Is my favourite pizza express location in Eastbourne and I will definitely come back to this pizza express location

What wonderful members of staff, Brandon was so friendly and helpful and the chef accommodated our fussy family. Will come back to Eastbourne again just for the pizza and hospitality 🍕 🍕

Had the best birthday meal. All staff were super friendly and food was delicious!

We ordered take-away for collection. Unfortunately our meal got lost/mixed up with someone else’s however, the staff dealt with it in a professional and kind manner. We even had a complimentary dessert, which was delicious as always, while we waited a short while for the order to be cooked again. The pizza was fabulous and we enjoyed our meal. We are very grateful for what the staff did for us.

Where very rude to us and quite sarcastic, food was how pizza express food always is which is delicious but staff were not polite at all and kept glaring at us whilst we were eating.

Our pizzas were so tough even the pizza slice had trouble cutting through it. Toppings were almost non existent. There is more topping on a £1.50 pizza from Tesco! The restaurant is very noisy, tables are too close to each other. We were sat by the area where the staff prepared the drinks and got the cutlery. We couldn't hear each other talk, every time they opened the fridge to get a drink we drink like we felt like we were in their way. Very disappointed.

The vegan pizza's were lovely and thanks to all the staff (Kirsty, Brendon & chef Roberto) who made our few days break in Eastbourne special. They couldn't do enough and were so polite, helpful and very patient with our questions regarding vegan wine.

Service was great but food average at best. My prawn pizza was described as butterflied King Prawns - there were 2 and a half prawns on it- and if they were King Prawns they were the smallest that I have ever seen. I asked the waitress about the scarity of the main ingredient and she said that Head Office kept a very tight control of how much of each ingredient went onto each dish. I would rather pay a bit more and get a decent serving. Well - won't be going there again ,,,,,

Ordered on Deliveroo the order was confirmed by the restaurant but never turned up? Order kept on getting reassigned so after 2 hours went to the restaurant ourselves to find it closed ! Please take your service off the website if you are unable to complete the orders after a certain time or let the customer know at least you are unable to complete their order! Love pizza express but not amazed by their service or lack of it !

Food frozen and then deep fried and restaurant a bit dirty inside. Staff nice but when you sell out to private equity you can count on an awful experience in whatever sector. Soulless, drab, depressing and expensive.

Lovely food always looked after when we visit Staff amazing and friendly

We had dinner in this branch as part of our short trip to Eastbourne. I love that they have a separate vegan menu. This makes choosing and ordering much easier. They were very busy when we went there but we were able to order when we wanted to and our food didn't take too long to arrive. I had the Vegan Padana pizza and it was delicious. I'd definitely recommend this pizza, especially if you're not a fan of spicy food. I noticed a number of the other pizzas had spicy toppings or toppings I don't like but this one ticked neither box so a win-win! If we come back to Eastbourne, we'll definitely consider coming here again.

We decided on Pizza Express to celebrate early Valentine's this year. Arrived about 5pm and our table was reserved as requested weeks prior. Staff were friendly, and service was quick. We were allowed more time when needed. Food was hot and of best quality, no errors with order whatsoever and our server was great, we tipped. Ordered an American pizza and their new carbonara, my other half said it was the best they'd had! The desserts chocolate brownie and chocolate fudge cake were really delish 👌 Overall the experience at this Pizza Express was enjoyable, busy after about 6pm but pleasant. They offer 30% student discount, that was awesome too!

Been coming here for years as we love their pizza even though it's very expensive! Went there Monday 23rd January 2023 ordered their "New Vegan Pizza!" Well wasn't we in for a disappointment!!!! There was hardly any topping....just a few scattered mushrooms! If it had been any thinner it would have been see-through!!! Our order consisted of the one pizza, a garlic and cheese bread, 2 teas, 1 coke, 1 tiramasu and 1 chocolate brownie.....it cost us £50. I definitely think we'll be going to Weatherspoons in future!!!!!

They fitted us in after their Hastings branch was affected by floods and looked after us really well.

It's a shame, waitress not professional at all, not very patient, embarrassing and she made us wait far too long to see if we needed her or not when 2 tables came after us and the 2 tables were already served before us when it was the same number of people for the 2 tables, disappointed not to have been treated the same way when it was tables that were next to us, I don't know if it is not because of my identity, but well I know the music you will say that I make films when I know very well that it is true, too bad

Terrible value for money, food very average. 75p for a teaspoon of garlic butter? And almost £6 for a handful of tiny pieces of Halloumi. Rip off

Would give 5 but found the Portion sizes a bit too small for the amount you pay £14.95 for Carbonara pasta And when it came out i was shocked. Apart from that it was lovely

Lovely lunchtime meal with our friends. Food gorgeous and our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Parking nearby is by meter.

Haven't visited here for a long time, but on a day out with our goddaughter, we found ourselves enjoying some very nice pizza. Prices seem to have increased dramatically since our last visit, but where haven't they. Attentive service, friendly and knowledgeable. Probably leading of the chain brigade.

The great service made a lovely meal for me and my friends. Would definitely recommend! Decent vegetarian options and the food was excellent.

I've been coming here for years, when I was small with my family and with my husband and baby now as I'm older. It's such a beautiful atmosphere every time. The staff are basically family, they are so lovely, happy, accommodationing. The chef's and (chef) are so amazing at making my order of a very difficult, dairy free, gluten free and extra toppings pizza. I've never found one fault. Honestly our favourite place to visit any time we are free. Please support and head here any time you can. Thank you staff and chefs at pizza express Eastbourne for always being so amazing and kind. I wish I could say good things, as we normally love Pizza Express. We came on a Saturday at lunch time so obviously very busy. We ordered carbonara, garlic king prawns and a margherita pizza. Carbonara was clearly microwaved (and they hadn't even bothered to stir it after microwaving it - super crunchy pasta on top), the garlic king prawns was in fact a tomato and pepper watery salad with 3 (yes 3) tiny prawns in it and the margherita pizza and almost no cheese on it. For £55 including drinks you'd expect more.

Very tourist friendly, and vegan friendly too!

This pizza express always serves us great food however, their service recently has turned very sour. Waitresses don’t smile at all, they rolled their eyes at us and really act like they don’t want to be there. We had a table of 4, 2 starts came out then waited 20 mins for the other 2 in which they said they just put it through system incorrectly. Mains came out on time, we were waiting on our chips, after 20 mins we then asked if our chips were coming soon in which our server rolled her eyes and walked away to go sort it. Not impressed

Lovely friendly staff,and even though we didn't arrive till 9-15pm and they closed at 10pm,they were very accommodating,very clean pizzas were lovely☺️.

When we turned up at the restaurant last night we were quickly shown to a table by a friendly and polite member of the waiting staff, She rapidly took our drinks order, brought them to our table and took our pizza orders- two classic pizzas. It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to this meal before going to the theatre. Pizza Express has long been a favourite of ours for more than forty years and we have been to branches all over England and Scotland. We waited and we waited. Other members of the public entered the restaurant and we told rather abruptly to sit where they liked by a member of staff who appeared to be in charge, Eventually after about 25 minutes we asked our server where our pizzas were, They had not even been started. We paid for our drinks and left. This restaurant was not packed and others seemed to be also waiting a considerable time. The reason given by the apparent shift manager was that there was only one chef and never aplogised jut made an excuse. I'd witnessed him make quite a lot of pizzas, some for a take away but he did not appear to be particularly overworked or overstretched. Come on Pizza Express, you can and should do better. We won't bother with Eastbourne again.

Pizza Express is pricey 3/5 but the pizzas are consistently good 5/5. I only visit with vouchers in hand however. Kids menu isn't great for growing appetites compared to other chains 3/5. The service at this Eastbourne branch deserved 5/5 stars full tip. All in all 4/5 on the day.

My friend and I visited here as part of a shopping trip and airshow. Before going I checked the website and choose the lunch special pizza wrap and salad. It was good value both on price and calories. When we got there ,I was advised...

The food was good and kitchen staff appeared happy and helpful. However the two women working there ( one I’ve seen before and presumed it was just an off day - but clearly not ) were incredibly rude. Even at one point saying they didn’t...

Inflation. Not very good value. Sparkling water was over 3 pounds. Pizza crust was doughy and chewy, 4 single black olives, and the cheese was so thin it had hardened into a stain. Not really recommended anymore.

It's a nice place to eat with an ambience and staff always very efficient and helpful, but alas it's extremely expensive for what you get considering it's not authentic Italian.

Excellent food and great service, we all had a great time!

The food is fantastic quality, but the prices reflect that, i.e. not cheap. The service is friendly and efficient. There are lots of hard surfaces so when busy the noise levels are quite high - not good for a relaxing meal or casual conversation. Clean interior, plenty if exterior glass for natural light and street views. A tad cramped but certainty not overly so. Overall an enjoyable meal.

Rating Eastbourne as not been to any other one yet I keep going back for my pizza fix once or twice every couple of weeks. Starters are fair, pizza size is very generous & it is one of few places in the area that serve my favourite Peroni. Bubbly atmosphere once inside it can feel a bit crammed at peak times but the very friendly staff work like troopers.

Always great and friendly service here. Pizza is reliable, fresh and delicious every time we come.
