Pizza Express in High Peak

We went here after we walked out of an Italian restaurant along the street from this one, where we had been ignored after being shown to our table (St Moritz). The welcome and service at Pizza Express was completely different, and coming here rescued our evening. Our server was really friendly and attentive, never leaving us waiting when we wanted anything. We both had pizzas, which were both superb. Highly recommended.

We called in on spec last night after being (haughtily) turned away by a couple of other establishments in another town. We just wanted to express our appreciation of the staff for their friendliness and welcome (particularly the ?Polish waitress who served us and helped us download the Pizza Express App. and avail ourselves of the offers). Food was nice and very reasonable but the stand out was the young lady who served us.

Great food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our table for eight with four aged under 8 was well fed and watered by an exceptionaly patient and competent lady server. The room is lovely, bright and elegant. Dough ball starters, light and delicious : Pizzas perfect and Carbonara excellent but bowl could be warmer. Childrens puds were enviable. Special offers were generous making for a super experience

A family day out from Derby and Manchester meeting in Buxton. Ages 78 to 3, Eight of us. Seated quickly and efficiently. Drinks ordered and delivered fast. Menu and offers described and help given with app. Starters arrived quickly and all together. Mains were hot and delicious. puddings look super and some of us wished we were children but had no room for puds. All in a beautiful room server by a patient and welcoming lady server (more than a waitress) Didn't have to ask more than once for the bill which (with help) was shared efficiently.

Popped in for a Pizza, was greated not particularly warmly and then as a couple given a table for 2. Despite being empty we then had a family of 6 popped right next to us. Fair enough, we don't know who has what booked....... Took one look at the menu and saw the unrealistic prices, comparing them to the smaller independent Pizza places in Buxton they were about 40% more expensive. We left and went to one of the smaller establishments where our bill with drinks was a lot less than the cost of 2 pizzas here, we also got to support a small business and not throw money at a corporate chain.

Can't comment on the food as left before ordered - very unfriendly non-customer facing 'welcome', just a huff puff & raised eyebrow that hadn't booked even though it was only 5pm & the place was empty!!! Was shown to a table & then ignored, then saw price point way higher than other pizza expresses so we thought we're not playing these games, left & went to a lovely pizzeria with fab food & amazing service just 2 minutes from this place - La Gaby if you're interested!

So there were 3 of us came in for pizza, I had the Romana which the base was undercooked and all the sauce/toppings were sliding off... For £18... I couldn't even dip the crust in the garlic butter dip as it wasn't solid, in retrospect I should've sent it back but I was hungry and £3+ for a can of coke is extortionate; My mates both got pizza and found it about the same as a frozen store bought one and they were slightly smaller; dough balls were great and tasty though. The service was excellent the servers had to deal with some rude as customers including a couple having some divorce type meal / argument. Left a £5 tip for the servers, would've done more if the food was decent however thoroughly disappointed. 2* would do 1.5 if I could

I was totally disgusted tonight as one of their chefs clearly had a cold and in 2 occasions I saw him sneeze wipe his nose but did not wash his hands. The manager even had the discourtesy of saying I can assure you we know he has a cold but he is washing his hands. He should have been moved in the back to do washing up and not kept on food counter. We also was not given any discount even though we did not finish our food.

All the staff we interacted with at Pizza Express Buxton were fantastic, particularly our main table server. She was great at chatting with my young children and engaging them. The food was delicious and delivered in a good time. Overall a great experience!

Just to say me and my daughter had a really enjoyable meal here on monday 5th August. Fantastic quick service after booking a table online, from lady in blue dress on host down to food service. Food was fantastic my daughter is a big fan of the chicken millanase start, I had potentially the hottest pizza I've ever had v enjoyable. And kids eat free love that. Thanks again Alex and Izzy

Visited Pizza Express Buxton in early July for our wedding anniversary and found the staff helpful and really friendly. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and the food and drink were excellent. Will definitely be going again. Lots of people there for the Buxton International Festival and the general atmosphere was really upbeat.

Appallingly slow and careless service. After a 40 minute wait, our pizza arrived. But not the cutlery, not the plates, not the glasses, not the drinks. Had to ask for everything and wait. Asked for desert menu. After another pointless 20 minute wait (menu never arrived) decided it wasn't worth it. The place was near deserted, the staff bored and chatting to kill time but not interested in serving.

Click and collect, food was good and ready at time of arrival.

I had a Romano chicken pizza which was pleasant but nothing special. The red onion had been placed in several clumps rather than across the pizza which was a shame. Service was a little slow despite it not being full at the time of my visit and I wasn't checked on at any point during my meal. There is also a rather unpleasant aroma outside the restaurant.

We were a family party of six and had a lovely evening . Our waitress was so friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and fresh. Everyone had a great time. Thank you Buxton Pizza Express!

Ate at Pizza Express Buxton on Friday night but the experience was not conducive to a return visit. The service as extremely slow, the pizzas were cold when they finally arrived, one pizza was wrong and the knives were so blunt they wouldn't pizza. The staff did volunteer to replace the incorrect pizza but we didn't have time to wait so they removed it from the bill. A nice touch but getting the order correct would have been better. All in all very disappointing.

Popped in here for dinner, very welcoming staff, i ordered the lemon chicken wings which were delish and also shared a American pizza which was delivered huge overflowed the plate and was not cut into slices, had to send back to cut as too big on tiny plate even though gave us a pizza cutter, pizza was not crispy as promised and lacked flavour would skip this! Desert was the chocolate brownie with vanilla gelato, this was delish 😍

If I could give this place zero stars I would. On Friday last, despite having booked a table well in advance, we arrived at 6pm to find the table was not ready and had to wait. We subsequently ordered our meal and drinks. We had told the waitress at the time of booking we needed to leave the restaurant at 7.20pm as we were going to the theatre. We waited and waited and no sign of food. At 6.50 pm we asked the waitress what was happening, to be told `five minutes`, ten minutes passed and still no sign, so we asked the waitress again, to be told another five minutes. By now we have completely lost faith in the food arriving at all. So we got up to leave, the waitress said, `its fine for you to leave` no apology for ruining our evening out. Rude and not interested in their customers at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE IN A RUSH!!!

Booked at table at 6pm with family. Planned a night out to the theatre restaurant were aware. Kept us waiting for over an hour for a pizza!!! Shocking service!!! Mislead us by saying it’ll be 5mins continuously after chasing our order up. No apology!!! We ended up walking out and when we said that the manager said it doesn’t matter. Absolute joke!!! Disgraceful management and service!!

The restaurant was quiet, there were two young lady's on the front desk, when we walked through the front door they were very welcoming and treated my Granddaughter extremely well. We will definitely be back. Please see attached photo, we couldn't have asked for more, they were excellent!

Not sure whether the staff were given bad news before we came in but they were all so miserable throughout. The guy serving us, didn’t catch his name, never once so much as smiled. The majority of the food was ok, what you’d expect. Until my youngest was getting to the end of his meal and all of the mushrooms were left. It was a simple child’s, cheese sauce, pasta and mushrooms! All the mushrooms were completely raw. I’m assuming they were thrown in at the end. How is it possible to get a child’s mushroom pasta wrong where the mushroom is the main concept. We told the manager who was very uninterested and replied with “oh I heard, I’ll take it off the bill” not quite the response I expected no apology, offered him another meal, but it was too late. They took both kids meals off the bill, didn’t tell us I just saw when they brought it back over, but I would much rather have had an actual apology. My change was then literally dumped on the table, no here’s your change, no plate to put it on, just dropped in-front of me and the staff walked off. I don’t think I’ve ever had such bad service. I understand it’s a chain and this might not be their desired career choice, but pizza express isn’t cheap! A smile and some sincerity goes a long way.

Most of the food was great apart from one cold pizza, served to wrong person on table then re plated. The tomatoes in the salad were all brown and tasted horrible (the manager deducted the salad from bill which was good) we wanted to share a Romans pizza between two of us and it arrived pre cut with half on each plate which was odd and not what we wanted (we wanted to slice it ourselves) The desserts and coffee all arrived at a different time and the coffees were nice but luke warm. The waitress didn’t offer Parmesan or oils with the pizzas and we weren’t offered sugar with coffee, when it was brought there was no teaspoons so had to ask again. Service was lacklustre. Best thing was the pizza express rewards app which saved us lots because otherwise it would be overpriced and poor value. With the savings the total price was fine.

Pizza was lovely, fair play. However went for valentines day deal only to be told AFTER we'd eaten that you had to have app to get deal which was NEVER mentioned to us so wasnt happy then. Also you couldn't choose main and dessert it had to be starter and main.

We came early evening on Sunday for a birthday meal and unfortunately, after a busy day, the food and drinks we chose were unavailable as they had sold out. Despite this, the staff were friendly and the service was good.

Lovely pizza (La Reine and Sloppy Guiseppe) spoiled by a very cold solid marble table in a cool (underheated) restaurant on a cool breezy day. Pizza sent back to be reheated at half-finished. Good drinks, well chilled. Pleasant and responsive service. £70-80 plus tip for two pizza, bottke of wine, a beer, a coke.

Food is lovely and service fast and efficient. It was very quiet so not much of an atmosphere but we were there around early tea time so maybe be we were yo early.

We always enjoy our visits to Pizza Express Buxton. You know what you are going to get and you know it will be good. We usually have a pizza each, then a Dolcetti pudding which comes with a coffee of choice. Well positioned for the Opera House or anything else in the centre of Buxton.

I had a fantastic experience at Pizza Express in Buxton. Abbie, the manager, went above and beyond to ensure our family had a great dining experience. The service was impeccable, and the pizza was delicious. We'll definitely be back! Thank you, Abbie, and the Pizza Express team in Buxton.

we were very dissapointed with our order from Pizza express Buxton - when we collected our order we didnt realise that the desserts we ordered were not in the bag. When we got home and realised, we rang them and they said they would refund the desserts. A week later we still had not been refunded so we called again. They said they would do it immediately. Still waiting. On top of the fact they are extremely expensive, their customer service is terrible. We will never be purchasing from them again.

I went to Pizza Express and had a great experience! The food was excellent and the service was amazing. Our server, Abbie, was attentive, polite and just fabulous! She made sure we had everything we needed and ensured we had a lovely night.

Eaten here on several occasions previously, and have no complaints about the service, or the food we received on this most recent visit. Was disappointed that the lunchtime menu was not on offer (pizza wrap and salad). When this was queried, explanation given by staff member was that, as it was half term, this was not available. As someone who works in a school, and was on half term, this was rather a shame! Not sure when those of us who work in schools can then enjoy the lunchtime menu!

Delicious Food, Exceptional Service and all at a great price.

We went here for a pre show meal The starter of garlic mushrooms had a peculiar tangy taste to it and was lacking any hint of garlic. We could not taste any or see any! The waitress asked me if everything was ok, but, totally ignored my response about the non-garlic mushrooms by talking over me, and asking if we wanted more drinks!! Perhaps if she had noticed the pile of mushrooms on each plate she have been more responsive Pollo Pasta as a main was tasty Nduja Calzone was a bit of a sloppy mess The dessert Sicilian Lemon & White Chocolate Roulade was very tasty and so was the White Chocolate & Salted Caramel Pizza Dolce The thing about the whole meal was that we were not really full, which when we have had three course we normally and sometime we only have two courses. The food was undersized and overpriced The friendly service was good but perhaps when a question is asked the waitress listens to the answer The main door to the toilets was to heavy for wheelchair user to open unaided, so a couple of times a wheelchair user had to wait for someone else to use the main toilet door The restaurant was too cramped for a wheelchair user to navigate without disturbing and asking diners to move their chairs which is totally unacceptable putting wheelchair users in that unenviable situation Not recommended for wheelchair users and abled bodied carers and anyone wanting a decent meal

My first visit to Pizza Express today and what a pleasure it was. Great menu, delicious food excellent service , thank you to our waitress (Keya) who was extremely friendly and even installed the app on my phone. Already booked Pizza Express when we visit London in December and will definitely be returning to the Buxton one very soon. Highly Recommend

Nice staff, but the food was dreadful and overpriced. I had the Vegan Forza. Absolutely awful. It was coated in chilli oil to the point I could taste nothing else. More like a soggy pancake than a pizza. Will never return to a Pizza Express. Worst £30 I've ever spent.. Diabolical.

I've not been to a pizza express for some time. Me and my partner popped in just before 9pm (close at 10pm) on a Sunday. Not many people in there, we were seated straight away and offered drinks and left to look through the menu. I ordered a pizza and my partner had pasta. My pizza was ok and the pasta dish was a little dry. The staff were polite and attentive and despite the time, we didn't feel rushed. The toilets were a bit of a trek up several flights of stairs (much like a weatherspoons).

Highly recommend. Food here was delicious. Nice central location.

Service wasn't the best throughout but this was topped when bits of sharp plastic were found in two desserts. No point did any staff member come over to apologise or attempt to sort out a resolution. Had it been a child’s dessert it could have been a serious incident. Unacceptable. Felt ignored when raised to staff. Increadibly poor ending to what was otherwise a good meal.

Very disappointing. It’s usually our favourite place to have lunch, but today the service was slow, the food wasn’t up to par and one of the boys waiting on had long greasy hair that was hanging over his face.

Okay it was Buxton Festival, getting a seated place at a resteraunt was a bit of an ask if you hadn't booked Pizza express sorted us out, even though we didn't know if others were joining us or not, in the general chaos that is Buxton carnival. It was still stupidly busy. Took quite a while to be served. Please do not take that as a negative. When its carnival day in Buxton everywhere is super busy. We had a cola & beer, Pizza Pal, its okay as a pale ale but not much to write home about . The starters doughballs & chilli king prawns Doughballs very nice, garlic butter evenly balanced for flavour. The chilli king prawn, a good mix of red & yellow pepper, with baby plum tomatoes. Nicely spiced, the chilli was enough to give it some heat without blowing your head off. Would have liked more prawns & doughballs with that dish. Mains were a classic american pizza and a leggera gamberetti pizza The classic american pizza was announced by Jnr to be just what he needed. I had the leggera ganberetti, the I'm watching my calories pizza. To be honest it wasn't bad at all. The baby spinach & rocket salad that was in the middle with the dressing,was okay. The main pizza base was good, again would have liked more king prawns , but overall okay. Bill £54 Abbey was our server, she was really helpful. I could see she was very busy, cannot fault her.

Service was good and the waiter was very friendly and great with the kids. He gave us tips on places to go too. Probably one of the nicest Pizza Express places we’ve been to. It was pretty busy and we hadn’t booked but they said if we didn’t mind waiting they would give us the next table that came free as a family had almost finished. We only had to wait 10 mins. One of the waiters saw that the kids were getting bored so stopped for a minute and chatted to them before going off again which made them happier and stopped the grumbles. Really good customer service.

We went to Buxton from Derby specifically to use our £20 Taste card gift voucher. We sat down and asked if it was ok to use and they said no. It really does take the biscuit when it's on the Taste card itself with pizza express on it. We didn't know or should have to know each one may or may not accept it it should be for all! A present we fell we can't use! They should have offered us an alternative saving/discount. We walked out in dismay. very disappointed.

Me and a few friends were in Buxton yesterday, we went to pizza express because con food is always overpriced. We went in and ordered, they said it would take an hour to make (understandable as there were 8 of us.) went to collect the food, we sat down back in the pavilion gardens and quickly realised the food was really cold. it felt like the pizza’s weren’t cooked properly and the dough balls were burnt.

Came in for dinner a few weeks back, was served by a girl called Becky. She was really friendly and helpful, she even recommended a pizza for my friend who is lactose intolerant. Quick service too, was a bit quiet though. The music was very quiet so it felt very odd. Thankyou :)

On entering, three teenagers were huddled around the booking console, all with greasy hair and no people skills, we were told where we were sitting and the guy who took our order was picking his eye at the same time, under cooked garlic bread arrived...

Thought id try a new pizza place with my young child when we got there we waited at the front desk for 10 minutes (there was only 6 tables with people on) whilst 4 staff members walked past us avoiding eye contact so we decided to find our own seat we waited another 10 minutes but still no menues so i tryed to speak to a member of staff who was walking past our table she refused to give eye contact and pretend i wasnt there after another customer started to look because of how loud i was saying exscuse me she finally spoke to me very rudely and suggested i moved tables so we did as it was a 4 person table so went to a two person she gave us our menue then within 2 minutes was back asking for our order i said we hadnt decided yet then she went to the table next to us without saying a word and then the general manager came straight over and asked again if we wanted to order she had seen the previous staff member just leave i said where still deciding and that we had just been asked she gave me a very unpleasant look and again rudely walked off with no word again very rude staff and mangment with no service skills after both them interaction my young child turned to me and said they wasnt being very nice to us and that she didnt want to eat there anymore so we left and went to local lounge where the staff where very friendly we wont be returning to pizza express again and will be telling others about this exsperiance as it was a shocking exsperiance

In summary an ok visit. Food quality and menu choices ok, albeit we thought it expensive for pizza, even with cost of living increases, staff pleasant and helpful, but restaurant physically cold with no atmosphere making it not a great experience. Think we’ll try somewhere...

Had a great takeaway/collection when staying in the local area. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food couldn’t be faulted!

Online booking was good but restaurant was tired looking and didn't feel too clean. Wine glass replaced as dirty. Toilet blocked. Mediocre pizza and wine at higher price than neighbouring Italian restaurant (which was - unfortunately fully booked - plenty of space at Pizza Express...

Awful Caesar, too sour, lettuce spoiled and anchovies were terrible.

I was going to rate it 4 stars but because I ordered the wrong dish it is a fault in my part which is a pity but the wine and dessert was great, the staff were attentive and friendly also 👍

Ruined the day this visit, waitress was trying to rush us every step of the way we hadn’t even got sat down and she was pushing for us to decide what to order. Food was fine but very small dough balls portion, then as we got to the end of the meal we tried to get someone over for the bill and this took 20+ minutes with only 5 groups in the restaurant not exactly busy. We could of walked out and they’d be none the wiser just didn’t seem bothered about anything, tried using UNiDAYS and got told that we couldn’t because it’s the Christmas period but there’s nothing on UNiDAYS stating this. Overall very poor experience, I definitely won’t be revisiting

Came here the other day about a week before Christmas. Was very busy and asked for a table - I got told to go away as I asked why I was denied to eat (I am Diabetic and was suffering from Hypoglycaemia at the time...

Used to always be a good standard of pizza in pizza express. We've been going for decades. Had to take a break as there isn't one near where we live now. In Buxton so took the opportunity to eat a quick lunch here. Half feel but pizza took ages. When it arrived cold, tough, pizza flavourless - nothing like it used to be. Still good for kids. Very pricey. Maybe the likes of Rudy's have eclipsed pizza express in terms of quality over the years and our expectations were too high, but I remember pizza express being dependable quality and good value. Very expensive and not great quality, couldn't recommend this place to others.
