Lovely friendly pub to meet up have a drink and a chat

This is a lovely-looking pub with what is possibly the best hanging basket and window box display in the country! Like many pubs, it has had a makeover that has seen the removal of internal walls to open things up - unfortunately, this has removed the smaller rooms that added character and cosiness, and this means that it lacks the atmosphere that it once had. I wouldn't make it my local, but it's not a bad place for a drink.

Only pub I will go to in Glossop now. Friendly staff, pool table, alcohol free options. Great beer garden too.

Draft unicorn beer, pool table, open fire and a beer garden. Toilets need an upgrade. TVs for sports.

Called in on FA Cup Final day after watching our Westhoughton Cricket Team win at Glossop CC. Pub full of jubilant City fans and sulking United fans but the landlady allowed us to put our Cricket flag up to derision and humour. What followed was a couple of hours of a quality British pub. The staff were so friendly and efficient and the locals were superb in their welcome and banter. Aptly named The Friendship, we had a great time and will certainly visit on our next trip to Glossop

Great Staff and a great place for a beer

We had an amazing night at the Friendship. They are our go to place in Glossop. Always so accommodating with our large group. We drop decorations off and they decorated the area for us. We get given a sectioned off area of outside or bar area for the function. The Landlady and bar staff are always so friendly. We would all highly recommend for just a quiet drink or for a large group.

Lovely bar in the heart of the town, nice selection of beers, wines and sprits., including speciality gins. A gorgeous log fire in the winter and a lovely beer garden in the summer. Friendly owners and bar staff- dog friendly.

Friendly atmosphere with a good team of bar staff. Everyone made to feel welcome on arrival and throughout their stay. Staff all keeping up with social distancing and managing table service with ease.

I was in Glossop for business. We went to most of the pubs in Glossop and this was our favorite. We are from the US and in case you are wondinge, the lager is cold (I drank lots of beer and never got a warm one) and they have Coors light? this was surprising but if you like Coors you will like Carling, and ask them to pour it in the official Carling glass, its cool.

Nice pub, beer well kept, very popular. I can see why they tore out the old bench seating, it was very dated... But it was much more comfortable than the chairs that replaced it. I believe they do very good prices on pies.

Prefect name for this cute friendly pub with a relaxed and local atmosphere. Great selection of reasonably priced ales. Can get a bit cramped in the main room but pool and darts room at the back as well as a lovely beer garden.

Very clean and cosy with a friendly atmosphere, pool table in the back room and a nice beer garden. Good selection of beers majoring on Robinson' s. Nicely decorated too.

Drink or food you can enjoy this place with family or friends. Ideal place for children and adults who are all ages. Great place to eat b/c staff are very friendly and the food is served realativly quick with great cooking skills. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a really great pub!

Good traditional pub... spoilt by the wall-to-wall Sky Sports (why?) and almost all blonde ales and lagers, bar one.

I regularly visit the friendship and absolutely love it. It is disappointing to read some negative reviews on here about the owner and staff etc as the pub now has new owners. In the past year, the new landladies have turned the pub around 10- fold and it is now back to being the friendly happy pub I remember from years ago. I would definitely recommend

Me and my squash partner actually like the Friendship and have been going there odd nights midweek for a few years now. We generally arrive late but try to cram in two or three rounds - the former barmaid would always come round the tables at last orders asking whether any one wanted another drink. Tonight a barmaid we hadn't seen before shut up shop and refused to serve us at five to eleven despite telling my mate earlier that she'd be staying open until 11. Said it was the owner's orders to shut early if there weren't enough people in. Seems we'll be looking for a new pub, then.

Fantastic Pub, this was my first visit to Glossop in many years and we held a mini-reunion with folks and this was a lovely location. Alison has done a fantastic job in renovating and modernising this classic pub and a lovely piece of Glossop's working history.

Under new management and refurbished, prices are fair and has started to do food but unsure as to how good it is.

We visited here today, myself hubby & daughter. From walking in we were welcomed by a lovely lad who served our drinks and took our food order. We sat in the beer garden which was very comfortable. Our food arrived and we were more than happy... very tasty home cooked meals and very reasonably priced. This place is fully deserving of a 5 star rating and we’ll definitely visit again 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We were advised by a friend that this was a great place for pies. They also do burgers. We really were looking forward to our meal and anticipated a real treat. We ordered the beef and ale and our friend the chicken aragon. The food arrived on enamel dishes- the pies were average and the chips were powdery oven chips- yuk. As for the gravy- oxo cubes. It was extremely underwhelming and we will certainly not be going back.

Service wasn't friendly - felt rather like the outsider, eyed suspiciously the whole time I was there. Food was just okay; menu was very limited. Decor was nice.

This is the third time in as many months that we've been into this pub - might be called the Friendship Inn but it's far from friendly. Firstly, no beer or bottled cider was available at all when we arrived on a Saturday night. We were told we could only order from the top shelf. Is this a pub or what? Not only but the service was rude behind the bar, the owner looked miserable and was half-drunk and within half an hour of arriving (around 10:30pm), the bar staff ordered in Dominos and ate behind the bar and then disappeared to the beer garden leaving the bar totally unmanned. Most importantly, the service is obnoxious and rude. The only redeeming point is that the decor is nice but unfortunately when the atmosphere is so terrible and there's no alcohol in the pub , the decor means squat. Yes, could have complained to the owner but as above, she wasn't in any state to take feedback plus looked miserable. Terrible, terrible, terrible. There are plenty of other better pubs in Glossop to spend your money. Avoid this one at all costs.
