At the last minute, I found this Nigerian restaurant that serves vegan cuisine, as my friends were travelling from Germany and Bulgaria to explore London. The food and hospitality were exceptional. Nky and her staff have done a brilliant job serving great food, and I would definitely visit again and recommend the restaurant to those who want to know more about Nigerian food culture. My friends were so happy that they enjoyed the food with positive vibes :) Dalu

We wanted to try a Nigerian restaurant, and this came up. It was a quiet lunchtime (only the two of us), and we sat at the back. Cut to the chase. The food was very good—tasty, spicy, and generous portions. Our cocktails gave us a lovely buzz! I highly recommend going there even if you haven't tasted Nigerian food before. I swear you'll be going back for more.

I ordered seafood okra from their takeaway menu on Uber eats. It was a total disaster. A thick blob of overcooked okra mixed in a red stew , a pathetic looking piece of hake and some prawns. It was awful. This is the second time I have ordered, the first time was pepper soup which didn’t taste like it. I thought that was a blip , so thought I would try something else. Big mistake and a waste of money.

I was there with a group of friends, looking to experience Nigerian food. The location does not look at all like the pictures on the website, the ordering system is not user-friendly, the food is mediocre, cold and overspiced (even for Nigerians). From the start, this Italian lady was abrupt and unfriendly, served us burned fried plantain and kept an unfriendly posture, not helping with orders or even serving us the water we requested. I do not recommend it at all!!

Pitanga was a great place to eat and the hostesses were equally fantastic. Had a dish that took me back to childhood, tasted very authentic and you could tell it was made with love. Would definitely go back and would recommend to all. Plenty of choice and a mix of people from different cultural backgrounds trying the food, which is a testament to its quality and authenticity. Keep up the good work

My sister and I visited Pitanga on Saturday evening. On entry As is usual for me I greeted the staff on entry. The first thing I noticed is that the lady behind the bar grunted a reply without raising her eyes to meet mine. Nobody showed us where to sit, we were left to work it out for ourselves. Trying to order Once we found somewhere to sit, we were not served at our table, and saw other guests receiving food and drinks. After noticing this happen repeatedly, I went to the front bar, and the lady behind the bar, in the same manner as the initial greeting, pointed at a bottle on a table with a QR code and said that is how to order. On going back to the table, my sister struggled to order online, and I struggled to see which delivery location we should choose as the interface was not clear how to navigate this part of the transaction from within the restaurant. I went back to the bar, and asked for assistance. The lady behind the bar then shouted at me and stood within a centimeter of my face Leaving and shouted "why are you the only people who have a problem with this"? This threatening and aggressive behaviour left me in shock and despair as all we wanted to ldo was eat our food and relax. After the incredibly threatening behaviour from the lady behind the bar, and reflecting on the poor customer service, we decided to leave. Leaving On leaving when asked why and mentioning the service we were met with more negativity. My sister asked the person who was threatening and accusatory to me, and exhibited the most atrocious customer service "who is the owner?" The white European lady who performed this behavior said proudly "I am the owner!". She also said "Oh, that is the power you have!" When my sister said that we would complain about this. Taking a pause There were many opportunities for excellent customer service to be exhibited that were missed. To have the worst behavior demonstrated by the owner is beyond worrying. It's also disturbing that this lady making money from my food culture can feel so entitled as to behave in this way. Additionally, it was clear that the non- black customers, and the one black woman with them were treated with more warmth. There is a level of entitlement that was clear in this owners behavior that is.... unfortunate, and laid a particular attitude towards African people bare.

Worst customer service I have received in a long time. The workers were curt , rude and so unfriendly , a few of my group wanted to walk out. We decided to stay regretfully. Food was not up to par. Salty ,and an aberration of west African food. If your desire is for good authentic well cooked African food. Give this a miss! Disappointing to say the least.

Wonderful evening of highlife music accompanied by great food. Pitanga was the place to be on a warm sultry evening in August .Ed Keazor, Mauricio Ravalico, Jake Elkan and Mike Idowu are exciting and accomplished musicians. The menu was extensive , the drinks chilled and the mood relaxed and sociable We had suya platters and akara both of which were delicious I have visited Pitanga several times and attended their music and book launch events and have always had a great time. I was really looking forward to this Nigerian restaurant. Especially the interesting menu made me curious. The beautifully furnished Pitanga tries to give a warm impression with a cooking studio atmosphere. It is located a little outside the center in West Kensington. I was welcomed by the nice if slightly giddy waitress. She explained to me that you place your order by cell phone (on the website via QR Code) and then a signal should sound at the cash register. Somewhat confusing here are the 3 modes (Collection, Location, and Delivery, where you should choose the location => which makes no sense). So I tried and selected Collection and confirmed the payment by credit card. Then the cook came personally and explained to me that this would not work and then took the order manually. Why not just like that... I ordered a Nigerian Coke (0.5L) and Jollof rice with Beef in Dodo Sauce (spicy). The cook (after all, the author of some cookbooks) asked me how spicy I would like it. When I insisted that spiciness is a matter of taste and that I didn't know what she meant by spicy, she turned around and rolled her eyes. Perhaps one could have given several degrees of sharpness or just some Chilli Sauce in a separate potty, as usual in other restaurants. The cola came then also quite promptly, tasted no further special. It contains less carbonic acid and a little more flavor, as usual in countries in the sub-Saharan zone and the Middle East. For 4 pounds still appropriate, although slightly too expensive. About the main course: I already knew Jollofreis from other restaurants and was unfortunately disappointed. The seasoning was indeed spicy, but the seasoning, especially the onion note (could not detect any chopped onions) was missing, so very monotonous. The slightly sour note by the tomatoes was also not observable. The dodo sauce (dodo = fried, ripe plantains) with the beef was well, but could not make up for the disappointing impression of the jollof rice. I was asked several times if I was satisfied with my meal and was eyed suspiciously several times from the kitchen. I was only given a smile when I was served after the food was put down lovelessly and I looked at the cook as she left. About the payment: As already mentioned, the order was somewhat misleading, so I inquired again in a friendly manner. The cook took this as an opportunity to gruffly point out the lack of payment. I paid, but gave no tip, although I can not remember when I last gave no tip and certainly not on vacation. Conclusion: The restaurant has the claim to serve high-quality West African cuisine and justifies its rather too high prices. The food is good to mediocre, the taste revelation it is definitely not as an exotic eater. The service might definitely be improved, especially the friendliness of the cook could be a little more pleasing, especially towards a well-meaning guest like me.

Really recommend this sweet, spotlessly clean restaurant (including an attractive outside area), with its friendly, welcoming staff and caring, efficient owner. The food was delicious, my pounded yam and Edikang Ikong was beautifully fresh, and everyone tucked in with gusto to all we ordered. Will...

Popped in for a drink and met by two friendly/cheerful ladies. Very different to other places as has a family house social feel. The great outside area with TV is great for socialising. Good value print and choices

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the young lady Farhiya and the gentleman (possibly the owner?) who went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. This review is a few weeks late, but I felt compelled to share. We had a toddler with us who, as toddlers do, made a bit of a mess. Both of these staff members handled the situation with such kindness and grace. They not only cleaned up quickly but even moved us to a different spot, turning a stressful moment into one where we felt completely comfortable and welcomed. Their warmth and understanding truly meant a lot to us, and we couldn’t be more grateful. On top of that, the overall atmosphere of this restaurant is fantastic. It has a genuine, family-like vibe, with everyone smiling and creating such a lovely environment. The space was immaculate, the service was quick, and the food was absolutely top-notch. Huge thanks to the entire team—you can tell everyone here works together to make it special!

Nigus was an excellent host, the service was impeccable and the cleanliness and quality of food was amazing. Portion size was also huge for 2 people. I would definitely recommend anyone to come here for great authentic Ethiopian food!
