Pinar Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

First of all the meat is approved by Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC). The ambience is beautiful and the prices are just. The staff are quite friendly. Coming to food, we ordered Chicken Isakender and Lamb Adana. The portions were sufficient. However, the adana could have been a little more juicy. The accompanying sauces were tasty. Overall this place is quite good to have quality food and quality time with family.

Great restaurant with a wide selection of delicious Turkish dishes. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed by the food quality. However, there have been some instances of unprofessional behavior from the waitstaff. One thing to note is that they only accept cash payments, which was a bit inconvenient . Though overall it is popular spot for authentic Turkish cuisine.

Unfortunately since renovation the quality of food has gone down. With the prices going up the quality of food should have at least stayed the same. The meat always has a funny taste, is hard and springy whereas before it was soft and crispy. Portion sizes have gone smaller and is bulked up with bread. Disappointed...and this is based on eating from here at least 5 times since renovation. Pre-renovation their food and portion sizes were faultless.

Delicious and nice big portions. Friendly, family place. Been a few times and the wraps are great value and grilled meats generous and tasty.

Really enjoy the for here. We rang ahead and booked a table. It was pretty busy when we arrived with a mix of nationality adult and kids which was lovely to see. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. I had lamb shish which was served with a huge pile of rice and a salad bowl, bread and sauces to share. Clean plates all round. The food was fresh and hot. The chilli sauce was amazing. Go people you won’t be disappointed. Note this places does not serve alcohol. Not sure if you can bring your own.

Unbelievable authentic Turkish food at a very reasonable price

Food was great. It was busy for Ramadan so the service was ok for that time of the day. You lost a star because you don’t have the facility to pay by card. I was forced to walk around to 5 ATMs as they were all not working, begging the superstore next door to do cash back. Actually, I just changed my mind and took 2 stars off for that. Get into the 21st century, get a card machine.

10/10 a must if you are in Newcastle. The lahmacun is to die for and the iskender does not disappoint. To top it off the baklava was fresh and absolutely sensational. The San Sebastián was fresh and yummy. If you’re looking for a nice meal and affordable, head to pinar! Staff are lovely and the new decor is great.

It’s ok average food, but I have had better Turkish food!!!! the waiter/ waitress never smile in other word they have miserable face you have to ask them to come over at the table in case you need more food etc,I have worked all my life in a restaurant industry,,come on let’s have common senses respect your customer they bring their cash at your restaurant and spend over £100 there look after your customers and it’s very important my advice to you guys would be that anyone can open a restaurant it’s not very hard but to carry on all year round and keep the customers happy it’s very very hard task every restaurant owner must copy this and write it down CUSTOMERS SERVICE ARE VERY IMPORTANT.

Food gone real bad. There's a prick of a waiter who over charges you and is cheeky. Was a regular, but won't be going there again. Food was hard and rubbery, seemed like they microwaved it.

First time coming to Pinar, after being recommended it - I’m originally from Manchester, so we have a few restaurants to compare it to, like Sultanahmet and Istanbul restaurant The service was okay, I wouldn’t say they’re really attentive, had to call someone over to place an order after 10 minutes sat down, same again after being finished, took a while for staff to acknowledge we were done, however these are just minor things, overall it wasn’t too bad The food we ordered were ribs and a meat mixed grill for one, I have to say, the food here was amazing and I’ll 100% be back again, the ribs were juicy and fully of flavour and everything on the mixed grill was delicious too! Decent selection of drinks too - one inconvenience I had was that an establishment like this didn’t accept card, so I had to get cash out from the ATM down the road, not pleasant when the weather isn’t great lol - only reason it being 4* and not 5* for the inconvenience

Food was very nice not an issue at all with it. Service wasn’t that good and it wasn’t even that busy. You had to call the staff to take your order, call the staff for the bill. They weren’t very attentive, just working very slowly. Didn’t think a restaurant like this would be cash only too.

Went to this restaurant, first time. The atmosphere was great. You got to see the chefs making the food and the waiters were really good. They came really quick and got the food to me swiftly. The food was unbelievably tasty, would definitely recommend for anyone out and about. Will be back some time soon.

I bought two doner kebabs, one chicken and one mixed, both were very dry and I ate them with the help of soft drinks. They say it's a Turkish restaurant, but they all spoke Arabic, and they don't pay by card at all, only cash. The only question I have is how the score is so high from customers and in general I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pinar, a Turkish restaurant, with a group of friends, and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cosy atmosphere. The menu at Pinar is truly amazing & and a delightful treat for any keen restauranteur. We started our meal with a variety of mezze, including hummus, and salads. Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The hummus was just so nice, creamy and perfectly seasoned. For our main course, we ordered the mix grill. The kebab was cooked to perfection, with tender and juicy meat. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and each bite was a true delight. The Turkish tea was a perfect way to end the meal, with its soothing and aromatic qualities. The service at Pinar was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They were more than happy to answer any questions we had and made sure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Overall, I cannot recommend Pinar enough. The combination of delicious food, inviting ambiance, and excellent service makes it a top-notch Turkish restaurant. I can't wait to go back and try more of their mouthwatering dishes. Thank you 🙏🏼

Very expensive! They have increased their prices way too much in recent times. The portion sizes are less too. 3 people platter barely feeds 2. Very unfortunate to see this downgrade from them.

The owner of Pinar is a friendly man and the food is great. Just 1 or 2 individuals responsible for packing collection orders regularly make mistakes when either taking orders or putting the correct items in the bag, hence the lower score. Check before you leave. Dear owner, sort these individuals out as they're ruining the reputation of a brilliant eat out place.

This restaurant has never failed to satisfy me on the quality of the service and the quality of the food the staff are always pleasant and friendly I visited the restaurant 24.08.23 at around 12.30 pm I ordered a Diet Coke and with that I got some bread and 2 dips,I finished the Bread and my main meal came then which was a Lamb Adana with boiled rice absolutely delicious we have been here many times and we have never had a bad experience, the restaurant is always very clean and tidy well done see you again very soon

As we entered the restaurant we got a lovely greeting from the staff, it was immaculate with a good atmosphere, the food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it, it was our first visit, but won’t be our last, I’d recommend this place highly to family and friends.

Outstanding restaurant if I could give this place 10 stars I would, the food is perfection the chilli and garlic sauce is the best I’ve ever had the bread is cooked in a proper brick oven, the rice and salad is so so good, all the meats are of the very best quality and grilled to perfection. The chips are also really good. Staff are brilliant and friendly I would recommend sitting in over takeaway to get the best experience, this is what a kebab should be. Well done pinar

Great quality food. Super mix kebab is the one! Update! Me and my whole family got food poisoning, been battling with that past few days. Longtime customer but will sadly have to stop going now. Visited Sunday 28th May 23.

The ambiance is very nice. I can't say it's a very clean place, but the food is delicious. The staff is friendly and sincere. There is plenty of space for car parking. Prices are very reasonable

We have been to this restaurant twice now and today’s visit was on the 01.05.23 we have always found the staff very welcoming and helpful,today I used the male toilets and they were very clean and tidy the restaurant is very clean we ordered a 7up and a Diet Coke, Baba Ghanoush,with the salad which is always fresh and well presented with bread and dips,we then ordered a Mixed Kebab pizza which was absolutely delicious I would like to thank all of the staff at this restaurant for their hard work in looting after their customers well done ten out of ten 👍👌❤️

Called in with my partner, we had a falafel wrap and a shawarma wrap with salad, chips, garlic and chilli. Both were fresh, hot and delicious. Restaurant was very well kept, clean, tidy and smelled delicious. Will definitely return, we loved it.

I ordered the Chicken Shish kebab, which was served with a choice of rice or chips. Once I sat down, I was brought a very healthy sized portion of mixed salad and four triangles of really good bread. This was accompanied by a small dish of both garlic sauce and chilli sauce. So far, so good and I was looking forward to my meal. Then things went downhill - the meal took an age to arrive and when it did, I wish it hadn't. The chips were fine but I could have expected a slightly larger portion. The chicken was so over cooked and hard, I was unable to eat more than 4 of the ten pieces that I was served. For £12, I was expecting about the size portion I got but it was tough and inedible. I will not return - very disappointed - waste of money

The best shawarma in Newcastle without a doubt and the reason why i keep coming here since day it opened !..

I had the worst experience at this Turkish restaurant. The staff gave me the wrong order and when I finally received my shawarma, it was terrible. The meat was dry and overcooked, the bread was stale and tasteless. The flavors were bland and the sauces were not fresh. To make matters worse, it made me sick after eating it. The staff was not friendly, unhelpful and unapologetic. The atmosphere was dirty and uninviting. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will never be returning. Save your money and go somewhere else for a decent meal.

Awesome Turkish restaurant for tasting great Turkish food. The donners served in takeaways are just rubbish. You can taste the real Turkish donner in this restaurant as well as other Turkish kebabs.

Tasty, well prepared food, good portion size. Had to ask several times for glasses, water, plates. Cold inside, family had to keep jackets on to eat!

Can't count how many times I have been back. The best meat in Newcastle. I have tried so many different kebab shops and have tried so many.

My husband and I order from here all the time, on one particular occasion we did have a bad experience when the dip we ordered was expired , after speaking to the management about this , the manager Vahap was extremely apologetic, he advised he had tried the dip and could not understand why it expired however rectified the issue. He contacted us directly to apologise and it was clear this was a one off, Vahap even gave us a meal on the house. We were extremely Impressed at how our complaint was handled and our meal was once again spot on, this was and is still our favour place to eat out and we will for sure be ordering from here going forward! Would definitely recommend the lamb chops 👌

We've ordered from Pinar a few times now, it was always really good value for money and the food was usually tasty, on the most recent occasion we ordered our usual, the food prices had drastically increased and we didn't realise until we went to collect it, the food prices had increased by a whole £12 on top of what we normally pay for the whole thing. The dip which we paid £5.50 (previously paid £3)for was expired ! It contained yoghurt and was totally sour and expired! When we rang and complained, we spoke to a guy called Urkan, who basically didn't care less we'd just been served expired dairy and was trying to hurry us off the phone ! If you're going to increase your prices then it should be warranted, didn't appreciate being served expired dip for a whopping £5.50. Its ashame as used to be a nice place and good value ,but now has really gone down hill.

Got 2 chicken and one lamb wrap and lahmacun . Really reasonable and super fresh. My husband said that it was the best chicken wrap he's EVER had, even better than the ones in Berlin! Staff were friendly and greeted us as we came in. I would definitely recommend.
