Pin Wei Oriental Cuisine in Three Rivers

Pin Wei was always my go to restaurant. Such a shame it closed. It was a really nice place to be and the food and staff were always amazing. Hope they reopen if not there somewhere else. Miss the restaurant and friendly staff. 5 stars all round.

Despite giving this 3/5 in general, I have to say the service was brilliant hence not giving a lower rating - super friendly and helpful staff. The food and it's price however, was dissappointing. The food was mostly sweet, not common unless you are ordering a sweet and sour dish wish we never do. Even the crispy seaweed was heavily dusted in sugar. The spare ribs were dry and chewy, so clearly not fresh. The Chilli Chicken starter dish was sweet and sour, not spicy at all. The Ho fun black bean chicken was quite bland. I would not recommend if you are looking for authentic Chinese dishes. The price point is also high considering this is a local restaurant, you would be less surprised paying this if you were closer to London.

looked up the web for local chinese restaurants. Pin Wei was truly fantastic. The very spacious interior was bright and very very clean. The food was truly yummy. Very fresh, very hot, tasty and more than plentiful. Probably one of the most delicious Chinese meals we have eaten ever. The service was really good...It was an incredibly packed Saturday evening. Cannot wait for a return trip

Have been coming here for years. Now appears to be under different management as none of the previous friendly faces were there. Also, the Sunday (and Monday) buffet has been stopped. Were rude to us when we asked about it. Will not be coming back. Far too expensive for small quantities of average food.

10/10 food! First time back in a few years. Certainly won’t leave it so long next time. Great food, great venue and staff too.

Pin Wei did heroically well to keep open during the pandemic and a return visit was long overdue. The dishes were all good, the Won Ton soup was the freshest I've ever tasted and the Siu Mai likewise extremely flavoursome. I continued this light meal with Sizzling Lamb and steamed rice and all was good. All the little touches - the wipes, the complimentary chocolate and FORTUNE COOKIES were still there and the service was friendly, attentive and prompt as dishes were ferried from the open kitchen to my table in the understated but comfortable eating area. We ordered a takeaway for collection and the food was excellent quality. We enjoyed it greatly. The staff member who took my call was very polite and efficient and the food was ready when I arrived. It was worth driving from Hemel Hempstead and back. The portions are small however, the quality outweighed quantity. I cannot comment on the restaurant because I haven't eaten there - just takeaway

Up to 6 chaps lunch regularly during the week. We tried the Pin Wei a few times in February and March. Parking is easy on-site. The place is clean and smart and the servers were attentive. The food was good and I particularly liked the Hot and Sour Soup. We generally share a selection of dishes amongst us and with a couple of beers the bill came to around £30 each, This will be a regular venue for us when we fancy Chinese food.

I don’t think we have visited since before lockdown and as we sat down I did not recognise any of the previous friendly faces. Surveyed the menu and recognised a huge increase in prices. Drinks are a priority here especially as they are charged so high. Small bottle of tiger £3.90! Coke £2.85. Waiter recognised we needed another beer and couldn’t get us another one fast enough. Yet when I asked for more plum sauce he made a sarcastic comment. From then I should have challenged his attitude. But it’s not why we were out. To challenge someone on their cheeky attitude. Anyway…. The veggie duck is now £12.50!!! Portion size reduced. You can buy a whole packet of the mock duck for £2.99 in the frozen section at the Chinese supermarket. It is served with the most measly portion of spring onion and cucumber so asked for more. They did not like that. Must cost all of 10 pence. The veggie satay is different. Zero flavour. £9??? Mushroom, pepper and onion on a skewer. As for the salt chilli ribs. There is no way you could share that portion. It used to be much bigger…. Regulars frequent this place and they are welcomed like royalty. If they don’t know you, they really don’t care. Small portions. High prices. Surly unwelcome service. We decided to get the bill and leave. If you are looking for a rip off joint this is it.

It was our first visit to this restaurant. Waiters very unfriendly. Food average and cold. Drinks absolute rip off. No atmosphere. Will not return or recommend.

We ordered the set meal £38 for two. The worst takeaway we have ever had. We ended up throwing it away. I reached out twice to them to see what they would say but was just ignored. The sweet and sour pork was pea size with non existant meat in them. The Crispy chili beef was a glutinous mass of inedible gloop. It started platter was fat and greasy. The duck was not crispy at all. Vegetables were gooey and tasteless. Awful food and the lack of contact shows what they think of their clients. Will definitely never buy there again.

We went for early dinner. Had the set menu C banquet. Wow there was nothing not to like prompt service Fine quality food and lots of it. Will call again soon.

Their takeaway and dine-in services are excellent. The staff are always friendly and the food is tasty. I would definitely recommend that you eat here. Not only this, but there is parking- which is necessary due to its location on the high street.

We went for a early evening meal this week , first time we have eaten here although the restaurant is local to us Whoow ! What a find - great food in a spacious restaurant with really pleasant helpful staff. Nice atmosphere and very reasonably priced . We opted for the order as much as you can eat menu available on a Tuesday night and were not disappointed . The food was freshly cooked from a partially open kitchen and arrived at the table hot ,plentiful and well presented The staff were extremly helpful and welcoming Could not fault the food ,portion sizes or service Great meal in a very relaxed environment, we can't wait to eat here again

Service was excellent, the staff clearly care about your enjoyment. The food was of a high quality, hot and lots of it. We had the set menu for two, which was more than enough. All in, I would absolutely recommend!!!

Really enjoyed our takeaway of lemon chicken, chicken with yellow bean sauce, spring rolls and egg fried rice. Our only constructive feedback would be the spring rolls weren’t very well filled. It was very good value and the staff were polite and friendly.

Very good quality freshly cooked food bought up to you in exquisite little dishes. Not a cheap meal out but worth a visit. Nice ambiance. I dont drink alcohol but the soft drinks are quite pricey!

Having recently moved to the area we thought we would try Pin Wei and it didn’t disappoint the food was excellent but most of all the staff were so friendly and efficient. Will definitely be going again.

Another visit to this restaurant and once again it was great, we managed to hire the private room and 13 of us sat down to celebrate 3 birthdays. The room was great the food and service were excellent thank you again to all the staff at the Pin Wei cant wait to return

Visited with friends and ordered a set menu for 4. Food was absolutely delicious and not rushed. Good value and great service. Will definitely return. Small car park so may have to park elsewhere.

I have arranged two birthday celebration parties at Pin Wei, one for a 50th and one for a 21st and on both occasions we have used the private dining room which is sound proof and you have the use of the karaoke machine. The food is always excellent and what I have been most impressed by is the service from Choi and her team. They go above and beyond to ensure your celebrations are unforgettable.

Whenever we eat at Pin Wei either with friends or our young family, we always have great food and enjoy the experience. Last time we went we had a fabulous waitress called Ying, who made our visit really quite special!

The staff were very attentive. One female member of team couldn't have been kinder to my Mum. We had a lovely meal - main dish and shared rice due to small appetites - very reasonable. Went quite early and weren't sure we'd get in on Saturday, so were dealt with promptly. We took an updated takeaway menu and will definitely be back, either way. Thank you, team Pen Wei.

We go often as it is a typical Chinese with good food & prompt service. The staff are always friendly as you arrive/depart. The loos are always a let down & could do with a refurb. Other than that, all perfectly fine.

Absolutely superb as always. Friendly staff, wide choice of dishes, presented nicely and steaming hot. Excellent cuisine. Unlike some places I visit, Pin Wei does offer zero sugar fizzy drinks. Couldn't be better.

I have been visiting Pin Wei for over ten years now and the standard of food and service remains exceptional!!!The warm welcome from Mrs Chann and her Team makes the long journey to Pin Wei well worth it . Please to say that the restaurant has been re decorated since my last visit and looks great . Spotless as ever !!My only point would be Pin Wei needs better lighting in the car park. Another lovely meal !! Really enjoyed it. Thank you to all the staff!! Don’t know how the kitchen gets the food out so quickly. ??Can’t wait until my next visit.

I recently went to PinWei with my friends again. The food was very delicious with a lot of choices that are very suitable for vegetarian. Always impressed with Beijing Roast Duck. The atmosphere was brilliantly pleasant and staff very professional and helpful. I will definitely go again again and again!

There are several Chinese food establishments in Abbots Langley village but this is the only one with a sit down restaurant, the other two are take away only. We came here on a semi-regular basis for years for take away, and occasionally to eat in. We always found the service good and the food tasty.

The private room was adequate for my party size and cheerfully decorated. We had enthusiastic and attentive good service. The "eat-all-you-can" menu was great: plenty of hot and tasty food. We were offered top-up's and some were accepted. My vegetarian and vegan guests were fully satisfied.

Had a lovely evening at the Pin Wei. Went on a Monday evening which was buffet night. Food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful.

Plenty of parking. Large restaurant. Only chinese lager in small bottles. Prefer pints on draught. Bottles work out expensive. Quick waiter service. Good choice on the menu caters for everyone. Salt and pepper chilly ribs £7.50 portion quite expensive for 4 pieces. Dining out of small bowls which is chinese but prefer a nice plate. As chinese restaurants go this is one of the better ones.

Not sure why we hadn't visited here before but glad we did ...

We had a delightful get-together birthday celebration here; we were in a beautiful private room at the rear. The service was excellent and the staff were charming. An 'eat all you can' meal was cleverly linked to a menu with lots of choices. The food was superb. Spotlessly clean everywhere. We shall return.

Disappointing last couple of takeaways as the meat dish boxes are just over half full. Chicken and cashew nuts was barely half full, crispy chicken and beef, both about three quarter full. Chicken curry also three quarter full of sauce with 7 small pieces of chicken completely covered by sauce. Staff are always friendly and food does taste good, but, higher price than other Chinese in the village and smaller portions makes this very poor value for money. It’s a shame, as I have been using pin wei since the first day they opened. Probably not recommend any more.

We love this place. The food is delicious and all freshly cooked as well as the service which is fab. For a local Chinese you couldn’t ask for better, highly recommended

We came here as a social after a show at the local Henderson Hub theatre and had a decent meal. From the outset, you can tell what you’re in for as a standard Chinese restaurant and it lived up to this just fine. Service was quick even for the large group from a decent set menu - I had the starter platter, and the crispy chilli beef with fried rice, which were all good. The battered sweet and sour chicken were more doughy balls than the normal dish, so in this case I was glad not to order them. The drinks were the only downside which were extortionate at £4 for a pint of juice. The hygiene rating of the restaurant was worryingly low, but all our food was piping hot and nobody in our group got ill so no complaints there.

Delicious, fresh, well flavoured food with no msg. I'm gluten intolerant and I feel safe eating here.

We say surprisingly as the outside doesn't look too appealing and their food hygiene rating (albeit from Nov 18) didn't seem to tally with the reviews. But inside was lovely bright, clean and modern, and the staff very friendly.

Our second visit this year, and pleased to say that it was still a great place. this time, for convenience we chose set meal C. A gastronomic feast, with wine and water came to £75. Great value for a delicious meal. Note, service is conveniently unhurried at busy times, sit back, chat and enjoy the dining experience. fast food this is not.

Went for the cook to eat buffet and so glad we did. All the food was amazing and great value for money. We will definitely be returning as this is only one of the few chinese restaurants in the area.

We finished our visit to the Harry Potter studio tour at about 7pm and needed somewhere to refuel the family after 3 hours of walking. Pin Wei jumped out on Trip Advisor so we made the short 5 min drive and were grateful that they were able to accommodate us for a quick meal before starting our long journey home. Service was quick and friendly. The crispy duck was delicious, the Singapore noodles were finely spiced and perfectly moist but not sloppy. The egg fried rice was a treat with egg nicely mixed in (no big clumps) and fried without being burned. Great spot and everyone left content and ready for our journey.

We travelled down from North Yorkshire to visit The Harry Potter Studios and stayed in Kings Langley. The hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant..... so glad he did!

Tried this place 20 years ago when it first opened and was not impressed. Today I was Impressed. Saturday night and quite a few empty tables, probably due to cup final and euro song contest. selected set meal B for two and a bottle of house white. Came to £64, and well worth it. Could not fault the food or service, what have I been missing for the past two decades. Highly recommended.

On the way back from London with my GirlFried so decided to call in to Pin Wei as I know the food is always good .

We ordered our pre dinner drinks and were served these with prawn crackers. We decided not to have starters and ordered our mains. Within a few minutes the food arrived so it must all be prepared and just warmed up as the menu is extensive. I noticed that one of our dishes was just pork with a heavy bbq sauced poured over it from a huge vessel. Very unappetising. The menu is difficult to use as it was laminated and wouldn't stay open. The staff were watching us eat as they didn't have anthing to do as the restaurant wasn't busy. Nobody asked us if the food was okay. Needless to say we won't be dining there again.

We have been many times and the food has never disappointed and the staff are generally excellent unless it is super busy. It is a very popular place even though it's quite pricey. They have a separate function room which has proved useful. Be careful in the car park as you can be ticketed if you stay too long. Best to advise staff if parking overnight.

Went here as a birthday group of 8. at first the staff were all over us, watching us eat, taking plates away as soon as people had finished, even if others hadn't, looking over our shoulders, it felt like they were really rushing us. as the restaurant started to fill, the service then became incredibly slack, it took over an hour to get some ice cream and one of the staff members tried to fob us with with an excuse of 'sometimes it takes a while to plate things up' !! one of our party joined us after everyone had eaten for a drink and they charged us for a full meal for her when she hadn't eaten. plus the food portions are quite small and the prices are high. we won't be going back.

My third visit to Pin Wei and I am glad to say the standard of food and service remains first class.

We came to eat here for my girlfriends mum's birthday. It about the 3rd birthday we have celebrated here, and we enjoy it so so much every single time! The food is SO GOOD! It is cooked fresh to order and it tastes amazing! We usually start of by having a starter each, then a round of crispy duck and the mains. It is all you can eat, but they aren't stupid and don't waste food that you aren't going to eat! Overall its a great place for group or in our case a birthday party to have a meal. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area to try it out if you haven't yet.

Ladies night out with an Elvis tribute act. Food was amazing, mixed sharing starters I would really recommend. Staff warm, friendly and attentive.

First time at pin Wei it was very nice great food and drink though a little pricey but it's well worth trying as the portions were very large worth going there for a special treat .

Well organised with attentive staff. Food was excellent although a tad pricey when compared with other local restaurants. Ambience was pleasing and the service we had was excellent. Our only query was that we were charged for an extra bottle of wine. This was speedily rectified without question but on3 has to enquire as to how this happened in the first place.

Although having eaten inside the restaurant on a number of occasions we always get our take aways from here. Food is excellent and although it is slightly more pricey than your standard Chinese meals, this place is way better and tastes so much more healthier. Highly recommend the chilli beef and the chicken in black bean. Very speedy service for both take aways and restaurant service. Highly recommend

It was Saturday and we had family around so rather than cook we turned to these guys for a take away. It was excellent. Ready for collection within the time frame they quoted. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty.

We have had a takeaway from Pin Wei on a number of occasions and have never been let down. The food is fresh and full of flavour. It maybe a bit more expensive than some other takeaways but once we tried we keep going back.

Pin Wei has a,ways been one of the top Oriental restaurants and again it didn’t disappoint. The service is attentive, but not annoying, and the food lightly cooked, without the greasiness if other restaurants. A good atmosphere rounds off the evening.

Visited last night on the spur of the moment..

My husband and I took my Mum for her birthday and we had a lovely meal. The staff were very attentive and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I particular the Crispy Beef was fantastic!

First time ordering a take away from this restaurant. Sweet and sour chicken balls were very nice, not greasy, and the sauce was good. The Kung Po chicken was also good. My friend had the shredded duck, which he said was nicely cooked. All in all, this is better than your average take away, and the prices are reasonable to. The big test, would I eat from this place again, the answer is yes.

This was my 3rd visit to this establishment and I'm never disappointed. Food is excellent, service is even better. We went on a Sunday where it's £23 a head eat as much as you like and the portion sizes are worth every penny. Always a great visit here and never too busy.

We went here to celebrate my birthday with 15 friends yesterday lunchtime. The staff were friendly. The table was nicely laid and well spaced out for everyone to sit comfortably. Orders were taken without delay for drinks and food. Everything we ate was faultless.

Visited this place as a restaurant for the first time, when I lived in Abbots Langley it used to be a dodgy old pub. We got there early, about 6.00 on a Saturday evening and it began to fill up quickly so it’s obviously a popular place. The staff seemed nice. Had the set meal for 4 people for £90.00. The was loads of food, starters including ribs, spring rolls etc, next course crispy aromatic duck, then onto the main courses. It was very nice food. I spent the rest of the evening with a real thirst on though, I’m guessing this is normal with Chinese food. I’d recommend a visit here and I’d be more than happy to visit again.

Couldn’t decide where to go for lunch after a beer on Sunday. Went straight to trip advisor to check out where’s open. Most places close at 2pm meaning you have to sit down at 1.15 at the latest. Pin Wei stated open all day. First of all the staff are really friendly, the food although not the best tasting restaurant food I’ve had, the fact that you can try everything on the menu if you wanted to is amazing. Would definitely recommend. We were told when we arrived that the kitchen now closes at 3pm on Sundays, we watched a couple of people get turned away.

Didn't book on a Tuesday night but got table by luck as was pretty full - did the locals know something we didn't - turned out they did - excellent value for money for the best meal i have had in a long time. Chose much as you can eat for £23.50 and boy the choice you get and all freshly cooked to order - no buffet style here. We were not hurried despite them being busy, staff attentive without being overpowering - highly recommend

We had the eat-as-much-as-you-like menu. For £23.50 each the quality was not up to scratch.The chicken was a bit soft and bloated, though not as much as in a cheap take-away but, above all, several dishes were far too sweet, particularly the crispy shredded chili beef and the crispy seaweed (OK, we all know it's never seaweed, but that's no excuse for lacing it with sugar). Maybe they are catering to tastes of the local population but that's too much assimilation for my taste. Service was excellent and the environment was good, though.

Lovely restaurant. Kind and efficient service. Great food. We ate from the buffet menu. Mixed hours d’ourves, soup, chicken in yellow bean sauce with cashew nuts, chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce, chicken chow mein and egg fried rice, all delicious. Highly recommend.

This was a real find. We eat Chinese food all the time in America, and this was the best we have eaten in Britain. We had the special all you can eat (available Mondays and Tuesdays, i think). The service was excellent and the food...

Came here for a buffet lunch. Satay chicken looked undercooked so didn’t eat that. Chose vegetarian main as didn’t want to chance the meat- it came with very small amount of tofu. Crispy duck vegetables rather limp. Quality terrible overall. Service slow. Would never return.
