In Buxton as hungry tourists on a rainy day looking for something tasty to take away. Came upon Pig and Pepper which is a bakery that does really great coffee and wonderful sweet and savoury baked goods. We chose a broccoli and cheese focaccia, a flaky Parmesan and red pepper savoury, a proper Scandinavian-style cinnamon bun, and a pecan topped orange polenta cake. Every one of these items was excellent like the highest quality home baking. Lady who served us was super friendly and helpful. Tiny premises filled with nice things!

I can’t walk past a bakery if it has a good looking sausage roll on view. We had one today and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time and over the years I’ve eaten a tonne. You can get sausage rolls anywhere, but getting a really good one is not easy. I didn’t realise the pastry was a croissant type mix, but I knew it was different and very good. The sausage meat was flavoursome and not overly herby, just right. We also had a slice of the Persian cake and a cinnamon whirl, we enjoyed both, definitely recommend this place. The only regret, I wished I’d pick up one of the small loaves, they looked very good.

It's the best bakery for miles, even if only open 3 days a week at present. The bread is outstanding, the cakes and savouries also and there is a small deli section. Go and enjoy, but its not a cafe.

It's a bakery, not a restaurant. I am a biassed local but think it great to get all there. Bread is very good and the rest is wonderful. its slightly disappointing that someone might go there thinking otherwise and not then understanding that they bake wheat they bake and my be sold out mid-morning.

The quality of the produce is absolutely outstanding, as is the ingenuity in the ‘bread-based’ creations. I especially liked the croissauge roll - so much so I had to go back for more. The pizza slices and their take on pretzels were equally delicious. I thoroughly recommend The Pig and Pepper. The staff were very friendly and the service excellent.

What to say but, the pizza, was delicious, full of flavour and so very tasty. I can also recommend the delicious freshly baked bread and buttermilk scones . There was so much choice and we intend to return again and again. It’s so good to have a local bakery producing fresh wholesome food and at a reasonable price.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this bakery open at 5 on a Friday afternoon and even more pleasantly surprised that it still had a rosemary focaccia. It was beautifully presented, less than I've paid in supermarkets, and soaked that lovely olive oil into the paper bag just as it should. We devoured it very happily indeed! Also the baker was a very nice and helpful man so the service was great too.

First visit - been dying to go. Was a little disappointed there wasn't more choice but maybe products had to go out for xmas fair. The treacle/honey soda bread is fabulous Interesting range of pickles Can recommend the red grape one. Could have done with thicker paper bags as they had ripped and shed their contents when I unpacked them!

Went for 9am on a Thursday following the Ben Fogall programme and there were a few scones in the window, some cinnamon swirls and fruit cake slices. Didn’t go in and decided to go for a coffee and go back about 10am to give them time to stock their shelves. Still the same. Nothing on the shelves inside either to tempt us. Couldn’t see any bread whatsoever. Went home very disappointed and never even ventured inside the shop.

I did the bread making class with Laura from Pig & Pepper. It was fantastic I had the most amazing day with lovely cakes from the bakery and a fabulous lunch including butter I had made as well as the breads. Laura packs so much into the class and explains the science behind what she was teaching. Very small class numbers so you won’t miss anything. Throughly recommend fantastic value for money you even get your own little kit to take home as well as all the fabulous breads you’ve baked. I shall be doing other classes just need to try and fit them all in.

Walked past yesterday just before 12 o'clock. New premises (used to be the Higher Buxton RBS bank) and there were just three loaves left. I did pop into the previous shop across the road when passing...and always thoroughly enjoyed the products. Bought a small soda bread loaf and so, so enjoyed it. Trouble is that hubby liked it too so there is only a small piece left now which I am going to eat shortly before he spots it! It was so flavoursome; slightly sweet while tangy and nutty. The premises are immaculately clean with serene atmosphere and colour scheme; the staff are so pleasant, obliging and helpful. I will now visit regularly and become 'French', ie buy fresh bread three times a day, not three times a week. I do wonder, would it be possible to have a standing order with you? Please advise.

Having moved to Buxton in the Peak District 2 years ago, We were recommended to try the bread cakes and pastries from the Pig & Pepper. Recommendation is often the best place to start when trying something new, so we did. How glad we are that we did that. The sourdough bread, the fruit scones and the cinnamon twirls are mouth watering, not to mention all the other first class products. The produce is so fresh, as they are made by Aran & Laura that day. I cannot wait to get the warm bread home. The Irish soda bread is also worth a mention along with the Rye bread. I would also mention the friendly and helpful service given by Aran, Laura and other staff at the Bakery and the quality of the coffee they serve. During the Pandemic lockdown Aran has not only worked long hours, but also delivered after baking to regular and vulnerable people who were quarantined or elderly and not allowed or able to get to the shop. They are among the unsung heroes who deserve and have earned our support. Supermarket bread is tasteless, contains too much sugar and or salt to counteract that and sourdough and rye are far better health wise for us. If you are in Buxton or visiting this lovely Spa town, visit the ‘Pig & Pepper’, but don’t leave it late, as you will probably be disappointed.

My friend and I visited Buxton for the day and found this marvellous bakery on the High street The 'crossage' - a hybrid of a croissant and a sausage roll was quite the best thing I've had in a long time, and the bread I took away ( think it was sourdough loaf) was superb. Wish I lived in Buxton = would go there every day ! Peter

Lovely experience bread making. We got to make several different types of bread and got to taste some different ones too. We got to take all of the bread home and we had a small lunch. Laura was helpful, insightful and really good at what she was doing. She provided us with little recipes of the bread we baked which is helpful for when we make our own. Would recommend.

Laura was amazing, she explained all the stages from starter to final bread slowly and methodically. She included lots of tips along the way and Dos and don’t. She was extremely patient and answered all my queries with details. If you are a complete beginner like me and want to learn about different types of sourdough bread this is an excellent introductory class.I made lots of different types of bread which my family loved and the time went very quickly. A delicious lunch was also included as well as a starter and some goodies to take home including full recipes . Thanks for a great day Laura

Lovely little bakery with the best focaccia I’ve ever had! So bubbly and fresh it was a delight. Partner tried a scone which was light and well textured.

Went here a few times over the weekend as we had a pop up shop in the arches. Brunch: scrumptious, Lunch: yummy (try the croissage, it's the lovechild of a croissant and a sausage roll) Cake: gorgeous! The carrot cake is incredible! And the coffee is FAR superior to Costa or Nero in the town. Best cup of coffee in Buxton!

Was at what I thought was the wrong end of town for grabbing a quick lunch that was decent and then remember Pig & Pepper at The Arches. Food is fresh & made to order, I picked up two Souvlaki wraps which were gorgeous. Friendly service and great opportunity to have a nosey around a beautiful building whilst you wait a few minutes for your order. Just what this end of Buxton needs!

We had a wonderful family Christmas meal at Rems this year. The food was delicious, each dish packed with festive flavors and beautifully presented. Our meals were served promptly, and the staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Their professionalism added a special touch to our evening. The atmosphere at Rems was cozy, creating the perfect setting for a family gathering. The overall vibe was relaxed and joyful. The Christmas set menu was really reasonably priced and there was so much food, it was definitely worth every penny! Overall, our Christmas meal at Rems was a fantastic experience. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and cherished memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a festive dining experience!
