Pie Bob's Bakery in Angus

Amazing selection of pies and pastries in the shop - really delicious and great value for money. We had breakfast in the Pie Bob's cafe one morning too - excellent bacon baps (and prices!) Very highly recommend this shop & cafe - just wish there was one near us!

Absolute joke, went in for 2 egg rolls and a bacon roll was stood there for 35 minutes asked 15 minutes in where it was got told it was on the way, 35 minutes! And one egg on each roll, absolute joke not even an apology

Buying pies and cakes from the shop to be told you can’t use the toilet facilities is pathetic. Regardless of how good the pies and cakes may or may not be we won’t be back.

I'm not exaggerating or anything here, I'm mentioning exactly how it was for me. You can make your own mind up about it. This review is about Arbroath Pie Bobs Cafe and Takeaway. Its the first time I tried out the Cafe bit. I went into the Arbroath Pie Bobs cafe on a Sunday afternoon for my dinner. The place has a cafe bit and a takeaway bit, all under the same roof, right beside each other. Both cafe and takeaway bits serve hot food. I drove about 20 miles from Dundee ( no Pie Bobs in Dundee). I was desperately needing the toilet. So I went in to the cafe bit, and says I'm needing to go to the toilet first, before I order up food. I was told " sorry the toilet is for customers only ". I said I need to go first ,then I'll order up. ( I was bursting for the toilet) I was told " sorry our kitchen for hot food is closed now , we only serve up coffee and cakes". ( at 3:30pm in the middle of the afternoon) I had to go to toilet ,so i went to the toilet ,as I couldn't hold it in any longer. After that I said ,I need hot food, from the takeaway bit. I got an unfriendly look from the staff member that I spoke to earlier, as I walked to the takeaway bit for food for my dinner. ( I was hungry). After purchasing hot food from Pie Bobs takeaway bit, I then went to the Pie Bobs cafe bit , right next to the takeaway bit ,and said can I have a coffee and cake to go with this hot food please. I was told swiftly and immediately ,that I cannot eat that in here , as they pointed directly at the hot food I just purchased from Pie Bob takeaway bit, right next to the Pie Bob cafe bit. I just walked out after that. I eat my hot food in my car instead . The hot food was fine. 2 star rating from me Star 1 :- the hot food I got was fine Star 2 :- the price for it, was what I kinda of expected to pay, in this day and age, for it. I left this exact wording review, and 2 star , of my experience on the google review, of the Arbroath Pie Bobs Cafe and Takeaway. That's what happened anyway You can make your own mind up about it.

We have passed pie bobs a few times and always wanted to try it, so we finally did this time and we were so glad we did. The cafe is lovely a clean, with a soft play for kids and nice clean toilets. The service was quick and the food was delicious and the portions were massive, but as others have said its rather odd you can't get pie bobs food in the cafe, a pie chips and beans is only available on the specials menu? The cafe stops serving food at 3pm, so we only just made it in time, after this it's only cake and drinks that are available. We will definitely be back as it was well worth the money!

Ok I’ve read some shocking reviews (anything less than 4*)I’ve been coming Up here to work for years, the pies are nothing less than amazing. If you don’t like pie bobs - you don’t like pie it’s that simple. I’m not normally a pie person but their chicken curry and chilli nacho are a m a z i n g… Chilli sausage roll - wowCakes - wowCustomer service - 90% great, we all have bad days and perhaps one or twice I’ve had a neutral service but it’s not been bad or rude.

The gentleman in front of us asked for a slice whilst pointing at his desired cake the rude server said what do you mean there are 3 slices there? In a extremely blunt and rude tone. He and both my hubby and I could see immediately she had an air of misplaced arrogance .It was then our turn not being locals and for some bizarre reason not one food item was labelled priced..... nothing just row upon row of what appeared identical pies I asked for a meat and potatoe pie she said WHAT as if I’d asked for a toenail pasty ... now any decent server would say oh we only have blah,blah but not this little odd bod I was forced to say well what are they and them ..you get the picture the ironic thing was hubby chose a steak pie and she gave him a curry pie proving the point if she had no clue or could tell them apart as we obviously didn’t maybe label them !!!! And maybe no definitely get better staff it wouldn’t be hard honestly she’d last 2 minutes by us ,,!,

Amazing food yum yums the size of bricks overall very tasty food 😁. Definitely visit if you can. Jimmy

Yummy breakfast pie could have eaten two ! Not so sure about the Macaroni one as the crusts seemed undercooked! Maybe it just wasn’t too my taste as found it quite bland.

Visited twice over the past week. My family enjoyed delicious pies and cakes!! Been served by the same lady on both occasions … I wish she would smile when serving customers and try to look interested, a poor reflection on the business.

The pies are horrible half the pie is left in the bag for a bakery it has to be the worst I've experienced

Everything in this shop is quality pies bridie,s cakes etc never been disappointed with any purchase yet would highly reccomend this place

Very nice place and easy to drive in and out safely. Lovely products ( particularly the shortbread ) and good service.

I was driving by when i notice this bakery, so i decide to get something to take home, the chilli sausage roll was very nice, and also the yum yum.

We call here everytime we are on holiday food is fantastic plenty to choose from loads of cakes and pies it's open 24/7 , staff are all friendly wish pie Bob's were in the north east

Visited today after 23 years and it was just as great as I remember as a child. Gloriously tender and flavoursome pies and the cakes are out of this world. If I could take a suitcase full back, I would.

Bought a pasty, chilli sausage roll, chicken and sweetcorn and chicken curry pastry here. Nice pastry, not much filling in Pasty, too much sweetcorn chicken and sweetcorn pie, other two items enjoyed. Reasonably priced. Will go again and hope the start doing chicken and mushroom

A huge selection of Pies, Bridies, Scones , Cakes etc. etc. You will be hard pushed to find a better family rune bakery. Staff are welcoming , quick and professional. Long may the continue.

Day or night...you really can't go wrong. Steak bridies jam-packed with tender chunks of meat, cream meringues with a crispy outer and loads of cream...or a humble donut. Friendly staff and sensible prices.

Located near to the Abbey with its own car park, this is the second time I've been there. There's loads of freshly baked pies and bridies, with a few variations on a theme, as well as cold sandwiches. Not many vegetarian options though.Lots of space, nice and clean and good value for money. We sat and ate our purchases in the car park and there was a steady stream of local traffic coming in and out.

They made a fab birthday cake for my hubby's 40th. As we were coming down from Skye I wanted somewhere in Arbroath to make the cake for me. It was ordered last minute & they couldn't be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There was a slight mix up when my sister-in-law tried to order the cake, however this was quickly sorted out & they gave me a discount. Will be ordering from them again

A well known local bakery in the town for many years. Excellent part of the town. Great food and baking.

Maar twee vestigingen waarvan deze, waar het een komen en gaan is met lunch bestellers om mee te nemen. Een waanzinnig goede bakkerij wet taart pie's en veel meet lunch broodjes en taarten voor heel weinig geld

Excellent bakery, always fresh with a good selection. Makes you wonder why Greggs exists. If you are going thru Arbroath give it a try.

When visiting Arbroath we were recommended Pie Bob's Bakery for the best choice of pies - and we weren't disappointed. I had the cheese quiche and my wife steak and onion - both superb. Great staff who were fun to be with and very enthusiastic about their pies. If you're visiting you should pop in. Good parking round the back.

Pie Bob's saved the day when Forfar was all out of bridies for lunch. We had steak and onion, mince and onion, chicken and leek, chicken curry -- all were excellent, and quite inexpensive.

Super helpful and friendly staff. The pies, bridies and cakes we had were really yummy. Stoked they had somewhere to sit and eat their fare too

a visit to Pie Bob's is a must when visiting Arbroath. Particular favourite is Yum Yum's and choc eclairs delicious.

Great selection of pies and cakes,however the customer service is somewhat poor certainly no service with a smile at pie Bob's.

A delightful visit to Pie Bobs this week, had a pie each and a cake, all were very good and will be back again when we are visiting!

What can i say......... the selection of pastries, cakes, breads is massive. Everything looked so good. We ordered a selection of pies and a steak bridie. Macaroni pie was fabulous, steak bridie was huge and so tasty, the meat and gravy was yummy

An Arbroath institution, literally amazing pies and pastries, friendly staff and quality produce. You won’t find a better steak and gravy pie for a long long way!

I'm not sure but I think they are open 24/7. I am not the fun of the scottish pies but they have a wide range of products so everyone should find someting that will like. Most of the pastry taste really good. Also you can sit inside.

Second visit, there is so much choice of different pies its difficult to know which to choose. Definitely recommend the chilli sausage rolls. Also there is a very large selection of cakes. Everything seems very fresh and well priced, and of course the real bonus is that the shop is open 24hrs a day..

Love this place for any bakery, it is so fresh and the rolls seem to keep for days, butteries love for mid morning snack with my cuppie. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Their cakes are to die for but must be hungry to eat meringues. Love this wee place and it is now open 24/7

called in and got meat pie coffee and apple doughnut. meat pie very nice but a little salty for my taste doughnut very very nice coffee was what it said it was coffee.

Our local bakery is open all hours which is great. Out favourite is the Apple pie slices so full of flavour. Tray bakes I find taste all the same, definitely for sweet tooth. They sell the best big soft rolls made up or buy to fill yourself, which are great for Sunday bacon roll. This place is so busy when pubs are out doing all sorts of chips and cheese among a few.

Visited this bakery/takeaway on way back from Montrose tonight.
